Soothr, properly pronounced “Sood” is the Thai word meaning “Recipe”. This East Village establishment is the vision of close friends who grew up in different regions of Thailand, hoping to share their experiences and recipes with the rest of the world. Raised in distinctive regional cities, each individual brings their own unique relationship with Thai cuisine, with a specific focus on the generational family recipes that have shaped their childhood and time growing up in Thailand. With a specialty in family noodle recipes from throughout Thailand, Soothr offers a culinary experience that is geared towards the comfort and warmth of dining at home. These traditional recipes have brought great comfort and a sense of home for generations, and Soothr at its core is an invitation to sit at the table and enjoy a classic, Thai family meal.

My wife and I brought another couple to Soothr to celebrate her birthday. I'd had a good experience at Soothr before and was excited to bring my friends. Unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience due to inconsiderate service. Food - I've been to Soothr before and had better dining experiences. The food was solid but not great. The whole fried branzino is a total waste (and way overpriced). Stick to the saucy noodle dishes for a better meal. Service - Soothr gives you 90 minutes from when you are seated to complete your meal. We were seated at 5:15p. We had finished our entrees and ordered a dessert. The birthday girl tried to order a drink at 6:22, and the waiter refused her because it was "too close to the end of our reservation." I explained that it was my her birthday, and we had over 20 minutes left in our reservation. The waiter said he would have to check with management. He came back 5 minutes later and said he could process the drink if she finished it quickly. She was upset and declined. I was surprised and embarrassed by the whole episode. I understand the need to keep to your reservation schedule, but this is not the way. Ambience - we were seated in the front of the restaurant, which does not have good air conditioning. Only the back past the bar does. It was 90 degrees out and my wife is pregnant so this was very uncomfortable.

This place was amazing…the flavors, the presentation, the ambience…THE FOOD!!! THE FOOOOOOD WAS CRAZY GOOD! I can’t stop thinking about it. The Beef Pad Si-Iw and Chicken Khao Soi - order them immediately.

Soothr is amazing, but I wish they had more gluten free options. The staff was very disoriented when we asked for clarification on ingredients and put gluten soy sauce with several dishes that were listed as gluten free. Everything was delicious but for someone with an allergy, I would steer clear.

Absolutely outstanding amazing restaurant. Loved all the food and appetizers. Eggplant bow buns were the best I’ve ever had!

The food at Soothr was amazing. Some of the best Thai food I’ve had for sure. The service was very friendly. However, the only issue we had is that we were very rushed to order and in turn felt very rushed to get through our dinner. We made a reservation for 9:30pm through Open Table, and we didn’t get any sort of warning or info that we would be rushed due to the kitchen closing shortly after our reservation time. As soon as we arrived at 9:30 the hostess kindly told us that last call was at 10:00. Once we sat down our server very nicely, told us that last call would be in 5 minutes (for food and drinks). This rushed feeling definitely prevented us from relaxing and enjoying our dinner to the fullest. All in all a great spot but ideally try to not make the customers feel so rushed and give a warning for late reservations or just don’t take them.

There's no denying the food at Soothr is delicious. Highly recommend the Khao Soi! They are trying to maximize the space, which means minimal room to move and tight tables, along with an energetic (loud) environment. Service was good, although they definitely prioritized larger parties over my table of 2.

Came to Soothr for a long-awaited girls reunion after flying in from Miami, and it was the perfect choice. Our server was amazing, hyping me up for every dish I ordered! We started with the duck spring rolls (a surprise hit for my friend who’d never had duck!), followed by the best crab fried rice I’ve ever had. The pad see ew with beef and chicken kee mao were full of bold flavor and comforting spice. We somehow made room for the khao soi, and I swear I can still taste that crispy chicken skin. Every bite was incredible. Can’t wait to go back!
