It was my wife's birthday, and she's been looking forward to eating at Serpico since it was rumored to be coming to Philadelphia, as David Chang is one of her culinary favorites, and she was thrilled to see Peter Serpico in the kitchen. We sat at the chef's counter and enjoyed watching the food being prepared. We had 4 apps, an entree, and 2 deserts. My favorites were - in order of appearance, not necessarily preference: Dashi Soup (green veggies in broth), Raw Diver Scallops in a buttermilk sauce, Cope's Corn Ravioli (we had it vegetarian). The clams, trout, Rocky Road ice cream, and Yuzu curd were excellent as well, and we had delicious cocktails with the meal. The setting was peaceful, and the service was friendly and knowledgeable.

This was our first time at Serpico. The food ranged from excellent to outstanding. The best dishes were the egg custard and a liver mousse special, but each of the six dishes and one dessert we tried were delicious. We enjoyed the smaller dishes the most -- I would likely order an extra few of those instead of entree sized dishes in the future just to be able to enjoy even more flavors in a sitting. We enjoyed sitting at the counter -- it was fun to see the dishes all come together and to have little chats here and there with the chefs about the food. Our server was friendly, attentive and helpful. Will definitely return.

Great dining experience. Sharing plates can sometimes be difficult, but not in this case. Everything we tried - the Raw Diver Scallops, Chilled Dashi Soup, Tomato and Bean Salad, Deep Fried Duck Leg and especially the Hand Torn Pasta was outstanding. We'll definitely be back.

Service was excellent, our server definitely knew the menu. I asked him some questions ( which I knew the answers) and he was pretty spot on. The booths are kind of tight. I definitely will sit at the open kitchen bar seats next time to watch all the action. The deep fried duck legs on the potato rolls are a must! I am going back just for them! Caper brined Trout was very good too. I do not recommend the Wagyu Chuck Flap. This meat needs to be braised. Just searing it does not do this cut of beef justice, VERY tough. The soup was very good, but a tad spicy. The Rocky Road dessert...YES! I also think they need to rethink the bread they give you...no taste, and I am sure what it even was...overall, will I go back..yes. Am I in a hurry, no

I am not sure this is because the place just opened up recently but it was a total disappointment. Food is OK without any new touch, but we waited 45mins between 1st and 2nd meal. The style is almost like somewhere between a. kitchen (when chef Sikora was there) and Morimoto, but you may want to to to original places for better food. There is no distinctive style in this place at all.

The food was good, but not anything that you can't get elsewhere in Philly for a better price. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the servers were knowledgeable and friendly. Probably will not go back for the price (and small portion size). The corn ravioli was out of this world though!

I was really unimpressed. The first two dishes were just not good. We had the tomato salad and the raw scallops. The scallops were bland and tasteless and the salad was just not good. Luckily things got better from there. We had the corn raviolis which were excellent and the hand made noodle which were pretty good too. The fried duck was excellent and the trout was also pretty good. Finally desert was decent. The server was kinda aloof and seemed like she didn't want to be there. We had to ask for side dishes which is something they should just do for family style. Overall it was just ok. Would I go back probably not. I didn't think the price was bad at all like some people say, but it just wasn't that good.

Even though my first visit was less than two weeks after it opened, you could have sworn that it had been open for months - another smooth Starr operation. Menu is varied and fascinating, and every dish delivered on its promise. Save room for dessert - you will have a tough time deciding. I already have three more reservations lined up before the place becomes impossible to get into.

From the chilled dashi soup to the fried duck leg in a bun with sriaccha (best thing ever) the hand torn pasta, the duck breast entree and rocky road for dessert - everything was fantastic and perfectly prepared. I would go back again and again. Only small error was that the red wine we ordered was served too warm - we were told they are working on storing the wine better and I believe the manager Rich - nice guy.

The food was excellent the service was okay, but didn't match the pricing.

Food and service was good. Serpico had a ridiculous policy about seating 5 people. They would only seat 5 people at the Chef's Table and we wanted to sit at a regular table. We're all over 75 and sitting on a stool in a bar situation was not acceptable for conversation or our backs. We will not go back unless the seating arrangements changes for groups of 5 or more. There were plenty of tables available at the time.

We were very pleased with the quality and variety of the courses. Time between courses was a bit elongated. The kitchen doesn't seem to be quite organized as yet. The wine list was significantly "low-end" and left a great deal to be desired. However, the food was good, the prices reasonable, and the staff friendly...we will return. Parking is a major issue due to the South Street location.

I made reservations two weeks in advance, so my Fiancé and I were pretty stoked about going. The restaurant itself is stunning, it's crazy what they did with the space. We were seated at the chefs counter, which was awesome because we could watch everyone's food being prepared (highly recommend trying to nab one of these seats !) We weren't starving, so we only ordered 4 dishes (6 were recommended), which turned out to be perfect. We started out with a tomato charred bean and squid salad, and the hand torn pasta with snails and chicken skin -the pasta dish was the melt in your mouth, delicious kind you you dont want to end! Then came the duck breast and wagyu chuck . I can't say enough good things about both dishes, so so good.

bringing NYC to philly, exec chef Peter Serpico brings a whole new dynamic to an already vibrant south street food scene. with an open kitchen, meticulously created food and an eclectic menu featuring old world technique blended with spatterings of molecular gastronomy, this restaurant opened exactly at the right time. for a very fun experience, ask to speak to line chef Reese Bernstein (small, well built red-head). very entertaining young chef who is definitely going places in the coming years. Had the pleasure of watching him cook on a date a few days ago. the kitchen and wait staff are fun and love what they do; the drinks are fantastic and the bar concept is great. make sure you try a drink featuring mezcal. Congratulations to all who contributed to this great new restaurant! The food (primarily) but also the setting and the professional service. Perhaps most interesting is the arrangement of the menu: light dishes (the dashi soup), heavier dishes (the lamb ribs for two), a few (but only a few) "molecular" dishes (the foie gras dessert ) lets everyone put together a meal to their personal tastes. It is, simply, the most imaginative and flawlessly executed food in the City.

Great dinner! Food was adventurous and spot-on. Most notable were the corn ravioli, the pig's head terrine, and the 50 oz. steak which was cooked to perfection, Was very impressed that Chef Serpico came out to help serve our main courses. Service by Barry was great and very informational. None of the confusion that you usually get from the waitstaff during restaurant openings.. Feeling very fortunate that we had the chance to experience such a great restaurant before the inevitable crush of word-of-mouth business. People will be talking about this joint for a while... I find it difficult to east of Broad Street most of the time. Glad to have broken the curse with this ultra chic addition to the classless area that South Street has become. Food is brilliant. Cerviches, two versions of duck, hand torn pasta, and molecular gastronomy (not sure if this is absolutely correct term- magic food chemistry ?) for dessert. What more can a Philly foodie ask for? Space is amazing. Dark, cozy booths. Bar around the amazing open kitchen show. Smaller venue- 50 something seats. Service is discreet yet attentive. Not huge portions. Pricey. Well worth it, but don't come after running a 10k if you don't want to break the bank.

We had a reservation for Opening Night at Serpico and we were very impressed with the space, the food, and the service. We were able to score 2 seats at the Chef's Counter. We started off with the Market Ceviche and the Fluke Crudo. Next we got the Deep Fried Duck Leg Sandwich and the Hand Torn Pasta. This is tough because both were unbelievably tasty but the duck leg sandwich was just out of this world. Next we got the Waygu flap that was deep fried and the Caper Brined Trout. The trout was cooked absolutely perfectly and came with a potato risotto which was a perfect pairing for the dish. We ended the meal with the Toasted Apple Cake and the Rocky Road dessert. This is the new must-go to restaurant in Philly, simply awesome.

I'm happy I went. It has an interesting layout. The menu, while small had many interesting choices. My favorite was the fried duck leg sandwich. Our beef dish was overcooked. The manager asked (opening night) and we passed on it was tasty but a bit dry and overcooked. They didnt seem to care. The coffee was bad. The dessert was eh. I may go back as there are some interesting things I didnt try, but for the price, would rather go somewhere else
