Super nice bartender and delish cocktails. I had the swordfish tacos for dinner and they were yummy. Live music - fun jazz. A highlight was a laid back cover of Smells like Teen Spirit. It's pricey, but worth it. I went at 7 on Friday and there was plenty of space at the bar, which is super nice since Harvard Square bars are usually so crowded.

This place has great atmosphere but run of the mill food. The swordfish tacos were tasteless and the spaghetti a blah lump of pasta. I really wanted to like it. I will come back to the bar though.

With an eclectic funky decor, both pleasing and welcoming, we were especially taken with the Jazz Trio whose first set began at 6:30, earlier than many venues. The music was excellent as was the service. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive, was knowledgeable about the food and drinks and paced the meal perfectly. The food and drinks were great, especially the swordfish tacos. It was a very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Live music, chill room, and good service. Come hungry as the food is served in Caveman portions. More finesse and smaller portions would be preferable. Bring money, too. Two $14 cocktails, two appetizers, one entree, one sandwich, and a draft beer? $135 for two, tax and tip included. The value here is in the vibe, which is the best, by far, in Harvard Square. When I go back, and I will, I'll order one entree for two people OR two apps, and call it quits.

The food was tasty, but more than a little overpriced. I have a feeling you're paying mostly for the ambiance, which is in fact very cool. Wine list was also a little pricier than usual. Note: when they ask you whether you want sparkling or tap, sparkling is not free. This isn't Europe. I think they should have made that more clear, as most restaurants who give you the choice are offering both complimentary.

I was so excited to try this restaurant, since the Beehive is one if my favorites in Boston. Unfortunately the overall experience here wasn't great. We waited 20 mins for a server to come over to us to even give us water, in that time span they watered the table next to us and didn't acknowledge our empty water glasses. The service was slow to come over and take our ordere, we then waited another 15 mins for someone to come back and take our food order. While we were eating they didn't refill our water untill we were nearly finished our meal. Then we waited again for the server to come back to wrap the food and give us the bill. Our overall experience there was almost a two hour ordeal.. Sadly the Beat Hotel didn't do it for me..

The Beat Hotel was recommended to me by a friend who knew I was looking for a restaurant with both good vegan dishes and meat dishes. I checked out the menu online and decided to give it a try. Not only was my vegan friend delighted---he had the earth bowl-but I truly enjoyed my blackened shrimp. And those frites ! They were in what the chef described as a 'parsley vinaigrette.' The service was friendly but not as smooth as I imagine it will be soon. (The place has only been open for a couple of weeks). Funky decor and and great looking bar. Oh, and I was there on a night when a group played. They were quite good.

We arrived promptly. We were told that our table was not ready--though the dining room was half empty and the table were seated in was actually empty the whole time. Everyone who walked in with a reservation seemed to have to wait. One member of our party ordered a mocktail--they have an extensive cocktail list, so this seemed like a great idea! It turned out to be juice only... Served in a water glass. Completely disappointing. We also inquired whether the fritto misto was cooked separate from the seafood--it wasn't! (Making it not completely vegetarian--this was surprising and disappointing--especially from a place that has been reviewed as "vegan friendly").

Loved the idea of mixing up music, great food and unique ambience, and to do it seemingly effortlessly only a few weeks after opening is unusual. I lived outside Harvard Square for 30 years before moving outside the city, and the youth I spent there is stylishly evoked by the Beat era decor of this vast subterranean space that is a former shoe store. At the back for of the space is a small stage area where up until 10pm on Saturday night a low key but terrific trio played, after which livelier but still conversation friendly entertainment takes over. Service was very fast (almost a little too quick) and everyone from the hostess to the manager was down to earth and friendly. We plan to go back!

AWESOME. Been open only for two weeks and this place is going to have a great run. Decor is very artsy, very Harvard Square. The decor makes it look like is has been around for a long time. Food was fantastic - rib app is out of this world. Brick chicken, scallops, chicken piccata, and earth bowl with shrimp were great. Service was excellent as was the live music - Highly recommend.

I don't generally review, but this place was too good not too. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable and the live music was great. Combined with fair prices for good quality and portions, and wines by the carafe (1/2 bottles basically) it'll absolutely be our new go-to. And the crowd was very mixed (age, race, style, party size) so it genuinely has something for everyone!

There were six of us and all apps and entrees were yummy! The crispy tuna roll to start was delish and filet with mashed potatoes was really tasty. Banana bread pudding with caramel was awesome too! Menu is very big and appeals to all - meat lovers and vegetarians. Vibe is very cool and nice that speakers allow you to hear the band from all tables. All staff were friendly, professional and helpful. One bad thing - I asked to taste a wine before ordering and cocktail waitress told me I could buy a taste of the wine - kind of out of the ordinary and cheap on their behalf. Also food comes out a little too quickly so pace the ordering.

First of all, the interior is very aesthetically appealing. I'd describe it as a sort of "hippie chic" vibe. Definitely five starts for the decor. The food was also fantastic. I ordered the vegan Earth Bowl, which came with tofu, tempeh, edamame, a multi-grain pilaf, roasted pumpkin, carrots, zucchini, cauliflower, beets--and probably a few other vegetables that I'm forgetting right now. Too many restaurants just default to pasta (which I don't like) as their vegan/vegetarian option, so I was very happy to have something hearty, delicious, and colorful. My dad ordered the blackened shrimp, and my mom ordered the chicken. Both were very pleased. My mom has an allergy to garlic, and she was very happy that they could accommodate her.

Overall the place has a really cool look and feel to it and I was very excited to try it out. The waitress was great, but the food was not very good and for the price, it really should have been better. I had the zucchini and artichoke dish and it was burnt and flavorless. We made reservations for a group of 6 and half way through dinner had a few friends come to join us, friends that were willing to buy apps and drinks, yet they would not accommodate our request to have them seating at the table next to us!! Keep in mind that it was not very busy, there were a ton of open tables, and the table next to us stayed empty the entire time we were there!! We found that pretty rude and left right after we finished.

Since I am a long-time Beehive customer I had high expectations for this new venue owned by them. The menu is not the same, but equally well executed, with the addition of more options specifically for vegans/vegetarians. The by-the-glass wine list is all Californian with several organic/biodynamic choices. The bar is very well stocked (I judge that by whether a bar has fresh mint for a Mojito). The servers are polite and attentive - the only request I needed to make was for a sharp knife to cut my duck breast.. The decor is a bit over the top: they have combined massive amounts of what they consider to be 60s hippie-psychedelic design with some 50s Beat poet references (e.g., a long Kerouac quote on the women's room wall.
