Went here without knowing anything other than this is a restaurant from the owners of The Beehive in the South End. Took a chance on brunch without seeing a menu first and was pleasantly surprised. The food and drinks were delicious, the service was great, and the jazz added a really nice touch. Not to mention the decor is beautiful. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Waited an hour for our table despite a reservation; maitre'd was stressed and unhelpful, rude even. Food was mediocre at best; service was terrible. Go get a table in the bar area, stay for the drinks and the atmosphere. don't expect anything more!

Beat Hotel is a trendy new restaurant in Harvard Square. The food was good - creative dishes with loads of fresh ingredients, but the friendly service and the great atmosphere is what really stood out to us. Everyone that interacted with us was knowledgeable, kind and wanted to exceed our needs. It was an effortless dining experience. The earth bowl is quite earthy, so you need to love whole grains and fresh veggies. The crab fradiavlo was very spicy (in a good way). The drink menu is fun and festive and it is nice that you can order wines in a variety of glass sizes. Go, enjoy, feel like a hippie!

4th time going to the Beat. The food and drinks and service are all very good, and the ambiance and setup is great. But what REALLY makes it work is the balanced music volume. You can, even close to the stage, have an actual damn conversation with someone, AND hear music at the same time. And not just the drums and vocals. Someone put a lot of time into actually getting the damn acoustics and sound balance in this place right. Throw in the fact that every live act is a top-notch group and not some college band and its like a massage for the ears.

We went on a Friday night. We were seated by the Jazz band dining area. We (3 of us) had a 7pm reservation and the restaurant part is still fairly open but the bar is in full swing. We had a few appetizers, drinks and dinner. All were pretty standard and rather forgettable fare. We enjoyed the jazz band and our waiter was attentive. We would come back for drinks.

Great new venue for music in Harvard Sq. and the food is very good, however have been here twice and the service is inconsistent and a bit standoffish. They serve wine from kegs yet when I asked to taste one at the bar before I selected one, they said it's not their policy. All bars and restaurants of this caliber happily pour a couple of samples for their patrons. Have also felt that substitutions, even because of a food allergy, have met with resistance - both times!

Beat Hotel has a very interesting & diverse menu, and I especially appreciate the vegan offerings. All the food & drink we had was delicious. And we came to hear Grand Fatilla in a FREE show, which was wonderful music!! Harvard Square really needed this new night spot. It's big, beautifully designed, comfortable...just the right balance of elegant and playful decor. This was my second visit, and I'll be bringing another friend there for his birthday in a couple of weeks. I'll remember to make a reservation for busy music nights, as I did this time.

We went for the jazz brunch on the first weekend they were serving it. We are so lucky to have this place in Harvard Square! The space is absolutely gorgeous. The food was really good--we had cocktails and veggie omelets which were excellent and the frites were sinfully good. The jazz was fabulous and it's rare to hear such great music and still have the place be quiet enough to talk and have a good conversation. And the staff could not have been nicer or warmer or more helpful. I can't wait to go back for dinner!

What a great and well-run restaurant! Our server, Logan, was so attentive and on top of everything, be it refilling our beverages or making sure all unused plates or utensils were clear. The GM came up several times and was so friendly The oysters were fresh and HUGE! Our Bohemian Plate app is a welcome change to the typical fat-laden appetizers you see elsewhere. The ribeye was cooked to perfection! My side was mashed potatoes and peas. The potatoes were fluffy and creamy! My wife and mother-in-law got the Earth Bowls, which they loved. The fried tempeh in the Earth Bowl had a great texture! And the tap-wine selection was great! It was a lively atmosphere, but we could still have a normal conversation without shouting. Great acoustics!

I'm a huge fan of the beehive, so I knew I had to check this place out. Fantastic service- waiter was very attentive. He even was able to split our entree for us at no extra charge (definitely recommend doing this for the the entrees since they are very large). The live music was awesome - would recommend making a reservation in order to get a seat near the band! Lamb nachos were delicious, but the tuna spring roll was under par- did not taste the wasabi, very bland. They should add the beehives moroccan cigars to the menu! Otherwise, amazing experience and really fun night! Great for groups or couples. Would definitely recommend for a first date hot spot!

We loved how well the menu catered to everyone (with dedicated vegan or gluten free dishes). The tuna spring rolls were fantastic! The service can improve. For ex. we booked a table for 2, and noted that 2 more people will be joining us for drinks. Since it was a mid-week night, the place had plenty of tables for 4 open. Strict to their guidelines we were told only diners can sit and therefore we will have to get up upon finishing dinner. Wrong approach. Also- when my friend asked to taste a couple of wines before she chooses, she was told they bring out no tastings. Wrong approach again. We are regulars at places like Toro, Coppa, Myers+Chang, etc. all those places are happy to let you taste a wine before you obligate to it!

Came in for a date night and it was simply perfect. Latin jazz with front row seats and delicious, hearty dinners. We started with the Bohemian Platter, which was interesting but very tasty. I had the Earth Bowl (bonus points for a good vegetarian option), and my date had braised short rib. We both loved our entrées! The bread pudding we got for dessert was one of the best we've ever had… and we were smitten by the romantic ambiance. The only negative was that our waiter was new and seemed uninformed about the wine and cocktail list. That said, we would definitely come here again, especially since they have a new veg option. The bathrooms are also beyond cool-- I was in love!

The place, located underneath the Gap on the bend in Harvard Square (next to the COOP) was a great find. Owned and operated by the same group that brought you the Bee Hive in Boston the long wide room has the same buzz but far (I thought) better food, This was a birthday celebration for a "seventy something" that included grand children. There is a children's menu. The adults ate fresh healthy food of the grilled variety. The swordfish tacos, grilled octopus, hummus platter, and chicken piccata were great. The Cheeseburgers worked fine for the little ones. Everything we ate was great - we're travelers and somewhat sophisticated foodies and we'll be back at this venue. A welcome addition to the Square. BTW - go early it can get loud,

Really can't say enough about the food. It was amazing. And the cocktails were fantastic. The service was a little slow but I could chalk that up to a busy Saturday night. The lounge area is a little packed and as a result we ended up getting bumped and jostled quite a bit throughout our meal. Wouldn't deter me from coming back but the space is tight in the lounge area.

Food was great, along with the atmosphere. But we were just a party of 3 and waited 45 minutes for our appetizer, which came out with our main course. They did however comp it. Drinks also were slow to come out, we were not asked if we wanted a dessert before or check was dropped....which we did end up ordering. The food was so good it made up for the service flaws.

The only drawback to the place was the very expensive wine list. Thw wine prices may be justified if , as the waitress suggested they help pay for the music; however, the music came on after we ate. I'd have been happy to walk into a fully retro 'beat' scene, but Beat Hotel is not that, regardless of the name. What it is, with no real surprise, since it's an additional progeny of the Beehive folks, is a nicely outfitted (leather benches, yup) and vibrant watering and feeding hole. And it used to be a shoe store.... Kudos to the waitstaff. Our experience was a brilliantly pleasant one because of their patience (half of our party was very late due to traffic), and their knowledge and spirit. The food wanders into the trendy and vegan arena, no personal vector, but also serves the barbarian well. Music is loud, voices must be raised, but it does not venture into the extremes of decibel danger that, say, West Bridge does.

food and music were great. cocktails were terrible. mine was WAY too sweet (had the soursop) and my friend's (the cocktail with makers) was so strong it was undrinkable. both of us left almost full cocktails on the table at the end of the meal. food was all around very good though

Not only was the food disappointing, but the wine list was way too expensive and a craft was the price of an everyday drinking bottle of wine.

I really enjoyed this place. I was a little nervous at first because I'm not a huge fan of the sister restaurant BUT I would definitely go to the Beat Hotel more often. I enjoyed the wines on tap and the lamb nachos were great!
