Limited menu and many dishes have funky ingredients. Why is it that so many restaurants these days are adding strange animal parts and other weird things to their dishes? The food was very good and the service was the best in DC. Portions were generous. If only it had simpler dishes it would be a real winner.

It's a pleasure whether in the back room or the private front room to see the family pictures of this notable chef and his wife's early pictures in Italy and Spain respectively. The staff is well trained and bring food that delights the taste buds. Attention is paid to every detail. I'd eat there weekly if I lived in the District.

I heard such great reviews about Casa Luca and couldn't wait to go - especially because I just moved into the neighborhood and it's less than 2 blocks away! Well, the caesar salad was to die for. Ordered a bottle of the house red wine and it's fabulous! Then came the mixed grill dinner for two. I'm not sure what made it soooooo salty, but it overtook everything - the sausage, beef, lamb, you name it. Because I tried every item in the mix, I felt uncomfortable sending it back. Perhaps you just shouldn't order this dish and will have better luck with the other items on the menu.

We came here as a party for five with two adults and three children to celebrate my son's eighth birthday. It was a perfect choice, but would have been equally great for date night with my husband. The house manager Josue was fantastic! He customized dishes for the children with no question, and provided such great insight into the meals and the restaurant that we felt like we were at a chefs table. Food was amazing-authentic Italian was great seasonal flavors. We'll be back!

Great food. Great service. Really nice gluten free selection and the best gluten free pasta I've ever had in a restaurant. My only complaint is that it's always a little bit too loud. I take clients here often for business lunches and the music volume in the front part of the restaurant is a bit too loud for a business conversation. It's not as bad in the back room.

Very disappointed with the food quality. Too much butter in everything to the extent that your food swims in butter. Just the look of the dish killed my appetite. Very unfortunate since I had read good reviewes and thought that I have discovered a new good place in DC. I do not recommend it.

From the antipasti to the dolci, Casa Luca never disappoints. Twice now, I've gone to Casa Luca after work with friends for a quick drink and maybe an appetizer. Both times the starting course was so lovely we stayed on for dinner. And we were so happy we did! Don't forget the affogato at the end - you won't be sorry! And to top it all off, the service is impeccable.

I love this restaurant, but I am always a bit taken aback by the lunch bill. Two small plates, two entrees, two desserts, two espresso...$119 with tax and tip. And I had the least expensive entree. But the food is wildly good. Roasted tomatoes, pesto, balsamic, burrata...beautiful simplicity. The Porchetta Tonnato was dazzling...a porchetta-style treatment of rabbit sliced paper thin atop a creamy tuna sauce. Lovely raw spring veggies with a scattering of deep-fried capers. A fruit salad of strawberries and stone fruit with a scoop of delicious strawberry ice cream. I will go here again and again. They do offer some reasonably priced lunch alternatives, but I couldn't resist trying that rabbit.

Casa Luca provides a wonderful lunch experience. The food is delicious and service is impeccable. The restaurant can be a bit lively for close conversation, but is well suited for a business lunch. Favorites are the caprese salad with a burratta that melts in the mouth. The branzino is also a favorite - cooked to flaky perfection on a tender bed of greens. A Fall favorite not on the summer menu is a small pot of cabbage seasoned with hearty bacon - a small plate that is a meal in itself. Portion sizes are just right for weight conscious patrons - enough to fill but not enough to overwhelm. Food should be celebrated and Casa Luca reflects Chef Fabio Trabocchi's love of fresh, seasonal ingredients.

We started off slowly with it taking over 10 min to get water and nearly20 after ordering to get drinks/wine. Appetizer Luca Antipasti Misto platter was over served with grilled bread(tasty) and under served for 5 with meats and cheese. Waiter should have said only serves 2 or 3. Entrees were exceptional. We fell off the service radar after that. Took nearly 30 min and 3 tries to get check.

The food is excellent. They have great items to share. The service is very good--very attentive!! The ambience is nice...a little noisy sometimes and some of the tables/chairs are uncomfortable. Worth the price, which is not much! They give you plenty of food and all of it is pretty darn incredible. Best Italian cuisine I have had in the DC-area. But, generally, the place is excellent and I will go back there again and again.

Met my son at Casa Luca for dinner. I am a regular and wanted him to try it. It was my first time dining outside...such a lovey evening. The service was spotty...not as good as in doors. There was little attention paid to detail and more casual. We both enjoyed the food. The wait time for drinks was long. Our main courses were served and no flatware. I asked the busboy for a fork and he pointed the waiter.....not appropriate to make diners sit with a plate a food in front of them and no utensils. Service was a bit disappointing but will go back for the great food.

I took two out-of-town foodies here for dinner; the three of us were delighted with our selections---all different. For an appetizer we ordered the antipasto that the menu stated was for 2 or more, and it was more than sufficient. The pasta dishes were outstanding, and the filet mignon was done perfectly. My guests were impressed. The two down sides were the noise level (there was a large group near us) and an inexperienced waiter. I will definitely return to this restaurant.

We have become regulars at Casa Luca where you can always expect an excellent experience from the focused menu of authentic Italian cuisine. The staff is very professional and friendly from the first greeting to goodnight. We especially like their pastas, but the fish and meat are always a treat. Now that it is getting warm, we noticed outside tables--will be a nice thing for folks who enjoy that sort of setting.

Staff is attentive, Valet perfect on a rainy night....Hot spot! Hope the food improves.... ....wonderful bar scene. Yet, the food was not consistent - our "Luca Antipasto Misto" appetizer for two was cured bologna-like salami, served with Manchego (that you can find at Wegman's...but somewhat dry and not the best I have had)...and some sides on the app - such as chopped asparagus atop some ricotta or Mascarpone - what was that?? The table next to us also felt the app was off...The BEEF - was perfectly cooked and presented...the Gnocchi was overcooked...the kitchen needs to get some more consistency... this was my second time...the first was for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and was very nice...I will go back...

The service was indifferent. Food was barely worth eating. The prawns were woody, sauce was uninspired. The octopus pasta was a lot of pasta and vert little octopus- but a blessing in disguise- as it was worse than chewing a piece of rubber. Huge dissappointment. And the. Founding chef needs to have a firmer hand bothin the kitchen and with his staff. Would never reccomend this restaurant

I had high expectations for Casa Luca because of great reviews. Unfortunately my experience fell short of what I hoped. While there were definitely a few star items (the steak tartar app being one) the overall meal left something to be desired. The maine lobster app was way overly "fishy" in a way that made me concerned the lobster was not as fresh as it could be. The pasta dishes were fine but one was way overly al dente. The mixed meat family plate was very tasty, as were the mushroom side dish but we asked to take most of it home. Service was mediocre (or below that) and to top it off they forgot to wrap up our mushroom side dish which we specifically asked to take home as it was one of the best things we ate. So sad.

Casa Luca really impressed us. We celebrated our 12th anniversary on a Friday night. Our table was ready - no wait (unlike Aginn, this location's predecessor). The staff is attentive and very friendly and helpful. We were offered sparkling woke upon our arrival as our resevation indicated we were celebrating. Bruschetta was amazing. The pastas can be ordered as 1/2 plates. We ordered gnocchi and ravioli and both were impressive. Monkfish and Brazino dishes were also perfect. Dessert was also complimentary but we also ordered one and they were great combinations. We even got a nice momento card when we left. We will definitely return and recommend to our friends.

very disappointing service. while we were still eating our salad they were trying to take our plates away and give us new ones as our main dishes had already arrived. very disappointing and rushed. but then again a beer ordered during the meal came just before dessert--so clearly they didn't rush that! it appeared they had a big private party that night, but if you cant handle both your regular seating and your private room just don't do both. I love fiola, but doubt I will go back to this place. really disorganized. what a shame.
