A word from The Lucky Well
Food Network Star and restaurateur Chad Rosenthal has been recognized as one of the most talented purveyors of barbecue in the Delaware Valley.
His critically acclaimed Memphis-style ribs, brisket, smoked chickens and side dishes are unquestionably some of the best barbecue one can find north of the Mason Dixon line. Chad expanded his menu and brand, to include comfort food, a full al a carte menu, a full service Whiskey bar and a live music lounge... Also featured will be a Southern Style Brunch on Sundays, all day, all night....

The bar at The Lucky Well features a top-shelf whiskey collection, which naturally compliment the flavors coming out of the kitchen, along with craft-brewed beers and classic cocktails. Cocktails will include some of the ingredients used in the cooking process.

More information relating to The Lucky Well and its full scale music venue will be available shortly on our website.

The ribs were dry, chewy, lacking in flavor. The chefs should take a lesson from Phil's Tavern down the road to learn how to cook ribs.

We had a great meal. BBQ chicken perfectly seasoned, smoked and tender. appetizers (kale/brussel sprout Ceasar salad and charred trout) were excellent. Sides (corn bread, slaw and baked beans) were also excellent and great accompaniments to the meal. No room for dessert. Maybe next time. (oh yes, there will definitely be a next time!) Server and Chef were enthusiastic and eager to answer any questions about the menu and restaurant. The only downer were the 2 gentlemen who greeted us , going through the motions of finding our reservation and seating us. How much effort does it take to do your job and make one feel welcome into the restaurant? Not a good first impression but the rest of the experience was praiseworthy.

I was a fan of Rosey's BBQ, and this place is run by the same crew, so I knew I needed to try it. The place feels great and the food was top-notch. We ordered the hush puppies, which were great, and the fondue. The fondue wasn't really a fondue, but more of a dip in a fondue format. I liked it, but the hush puppies stole the appetizer show. The pork ribs were good, but the sausage was phenomenal. Fennel-heavy in a good way, great texture, not too salty. The mac and cheese was good but could use a bit more salt to keep up with the strong flavors of the meats we had. They seemed tame while eaten alongside the meats, but when I ate some at home the next day on their own, the flavors soared. A great experience and great food. We'll be back.

What a great little spot in unassuming Ambler. We landed here after seeing the chef/owner on Next Food Network Star, and were not disappointed! While the menu is not huge there is a good variety of choices. Enough to satisfy the barbeque enthusiast through the less adventurous eater. Diners will be reminded that the BBQ is Memphis style. So while you shouldnt expect your meat to arrive dripping with sauce, it WILL come packed with flavor! We will definitely be back.

Chad has done a terrific reconstruction of the former restaurant and added to the string of eating places on Butler Ave. The wafting of Bar B Q as you enter enhances the reason why you came here....bring on the ribs (pork or beef) and all the fixins'. A delicious fondue will start you and 2 or 3 others whetting your appetite. Lots of sides (a la carte) can be shared....portions are all very substantial. By 7 o'clock on a Friday Night every table was taken but the noise level was low enough not to have to scream at your tablemates to have a conversation!! If you are going to Act 2 Playhouse across the street you can enjoy a 10% discount for your meal. Enjoy!!

We heard good things and were looking forward to a great meal in a hip new restaurant in Ambler. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. We tried a few different barbeque dishes (their recommended specialties). A few pieces were nice and moist and tastey. But, most of it was dry and chewy. We could barely eat the ribs because they were so chewy. It took a long time for our food to come out, so maybe it was just an off night for the kitchen.

Firstly we made reservations but when we arrived they said they did not have our reservation, despite an email confirmation from I received from OpenTable. They were polite and seated us. The atmosphere, decor and waitstaff was great. The liquor menu was large. Nice options for dinner. The fish entree I wanted they did not have available. We ordered chicken wing appetizer which was delicious, 1/2 rack of dry rub ribs which was plentiful but not moist and the brisket which was very good. Side dishes were okay. My partner was happy to order from the whiskey menu and thought it was great and fairly priced.

This was my 2nd time here. 1st time got the burger which was FANTASTIC. This time, the St. Louis pork ribs which were very good. The 2 salads I've gotten have been excellent (beet salad and kale salad). Beer selection fantastic. The chili appetizer has way too much bbq sauce which was disappointing. Service and atmosphere really solid.

memphis-style bbq (think rub, not sauce) in a nice, new yet unremarkable atmosphere. everyone was friendly and the service was mostly attentive without being overbearing. we split the wedge salad, which was very nice, standard iceberg with bacon and good bleu cheese dressing. for our entree we had ribs, a half-rack of the beef and pork along with two sides - baked beans and fries. i gravitated to the pork ribs, which were moist and tender, although not fall-off-the-bone. the beef ribs were also well cooked and quite good. the baked beans had a spicy kick to them, which we enjoyed. all-in-all a nice addition to the ambler dining scene.

The atmosphere was pleasant, a modern feel with a bar, open table seating, and regular seating in the front room. Second room was abit cozier room and offered more private dining. Bbq was ordered; both the brisket and pork sandwich was rated high. Would like family style vegetables offering to be availablen for the table at reasonable price.

Not many places offering the same type of menu as the Lucky Well, so it is unique. We went on Valentine's Day and the food was really good. My wife and I really enjoyed the entire experience. After waiting a bit long for our drink order to be taken, the remainder of the service was very good. The food came out hot and fresh, and the owner actually brought the food out to our table, which was a nice touch. The texas poutine was outstanding, I would order that again in a heartbeat. Fairly small menu but that's part of the charm, they do bbq and they do it really well.

I made reservations to the Lucky Well for my wife and I for Valentines Day. Upon entering, we were impressed with the contemporary design of the restaurant. All of our servers were attentive to our needs, and we felt as if we could take our time and enjoy our meal as a result. If you like southern cooking or BBQ, the Lucky Well is your place. My wife and I ordered wings with the dry rub for starters. We appreciated the taste of the wings that were smoked, grilled and seasoned. In addition, we had the beef ribs and smoked sausage. Every cut of meet was both tender and tasty. The Lucky Well has earned our business because of their impressive service, great tasting food and incredible drink (specializing in whiskey) selection!

The food was good, but the service was somewhat lacking. Food took a long time to arrive and the server was very inattentive, despite the restaurant not being very busy. The chili, mac and cheese, and cornbread were the favorites for our group. It was also pricey for food that didn't completely wow us.

Food is all barbecue - it's the dry type barbecue, so it's not saucy (or messy). Entrees are available in half or full portions. We ordered 2 full portions and one half, along with sides, and had more than enough food for 4 people. Staff accommodated our request to share - brought extra plates and silverware. Menu is pretty focused, so don't go if you're not in the mood for barbecue - but if you are, it's the best in the area.

Four of us went for a pre-theatre dinner. The decor was very nice though we appreciated being seated in the back "barn" room which was a very low noise level, away from the bar area. The tables were picnic style, with bench seating on one side and chairs on the other. Not very comfortable, but the staff was very accomodating, providing a better chair for my husband's touchy back. Our waiter was very chatty and very knowledgable about the menu. The ribs were a little too blackened for my taste, but pretty good. Corn bread was good, mac & & cheese was a split approval between the two couples.

This was my third trip to The Lucky Well, and it things just keep getting better there. My fiancee and I shared the restaurant week tasting menu (starter, two meats, two sides, cornbread, and dessert) and a half order of pulled pork, and we left with enough food to make a nice lunch. There was a minor hiccup with our order that led to it being delayed, but the owner graciously bought us each a drink to make up for it. All in all, the food was fantastic, and despite the delay, the service was friendly and generally good. Oh, and I don't know where they get the ice cream for the cinnamon waffle, but it was so rich and wonderful that I wanted to slurp up the melted bit with my straw!

I had been wanting to try out this restaurant after hearing about it & seeing Chad on the Food Network, but it's pricey, so we waited for a special occasion (husband's birthday). When confirming my reservation they said they could put a candle in his dessert and that there would be a note in our reservation for the server - this never happened, which was disappointing. We ordered the prix fixe menu (Ambler restaurant week), and were pleased with the selection. Most of the food was very good, although the roast brussels sprouts were undercooked and returned to the kitchen. The kale salad and mushroom soup were excellent, as was the barbeque chicken, sausage and pork. Entree service on metal trays felt institutional. Desserts just ok.

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Lucky Well in Ambler, PA, during Restaurant Week. There are many tables to accomodate different sized groups and, the nice thing is, they are not right on top of each other. Salads are delicious - beet salad is an absolute winner as is the wedge. Appetizers not so much - deviled eggs were barely filled - literally flat with the hollow of the egg. Hushpuppies were VERY doughy - would have been nice to have 4 instead of 3 to share. Would save your money and stick with the salads. Entrees - sausage was delicious and we liked the ability to get 1/2 orders to share. Ribs and briskit were very dry and no extra sauce was offered by the server. Shrimp & grits were good - generous grits and fewer shrimp. Surprised at the disappointing barbecue as it was so, so good previously at Rosies. Translating to a larger venue might be tricky. Sit in the back - noise near the bar will preclude normal conversation.

Everything at Lucky Well tastes incredible, no doubt, and ingredients are as fresh as could be. However, if trying to control calories, you might want to order a mixed green with no dressing, and that's about it. All the vegetables are drenched in butter, and portions are very large. If all that sounds, you're good to go! Everyone said it was the best chicken wings, brisket and veggies they've had!
