A word from The Lucky Well
Food Network Star and restaurateur Chad Rosenthal has been recognized as one of the most talented purveyors of barbecue in the Delaware Valley.
His critically acclaimed Memphis-style ribs, brisket, smoked chickens and side dishes are unquestionably some of the best barbecue one can find north of the Mason Dixon line. Chad expanded his menu and brand, to include comfort food, a full al a carte menu, a full service Whiskey bar and a live music lounge... Also featured will be a Southern Style Brunch on Sundays, all day, all night....

The bar at The Lucky Well features a top-shelf whiskey collection, which naturally compliment the flavors coming out of the kitchen, along with craft-brewed beers and classic cocktails. Cocktails will include some of the ingredients used in the cooking process.

More information relating to The Lucky Well and its full scale music venue will be available shortly on our website.

We had a great meal here. The menu selections we chose were very tasty. the only thing we would have liked better was to have more combination platters. Everything, including side, was a la carte. The sides could have been a bigger portion. The servers were very friendly but could have been slightly more attentive.

Great BBQ with all homemade sides, dressings, and desserts. I like that the menu changes regularly and that you'll see the owner personally ensuring your meal is to your satisfaction. Innovative drink list and the wings are the best around. We have also had the catfish, sausage, tri-tip, ribs, etc.. Over our various trips and all are outstanding.

We have missed Rosie's Tennessee barbecue. The Lucky Well is a sit down restaurant that serves food that is as good as his old take out joints in Jenkintown and Ambler, but provides a higher end dining experience. We had brisket, chicken and a variety of sides and everything was good. Portions were ample and pricing was reasonable. It is located across. The street from the Ambler Theater making it a perfect spot for dinner before or after a movie. Make reservations!

Really good food. Reservation was a good idea. Wait staff a bit thin but very attentive. One appetizer and a 1/2 entrée is a lot of food. Get a corner table if you want to have a conversation. Go early (before 7:00) as area parking is a problem. I'll certainly go back soon!!

Okay place for casual dining. Plates with just meats on them looked pretty sparse and would benefit from a smaller plate for 1/2 size servings and some type of garnish. Food was good. Would suggest ordering several entrees and sharing if with a group.

Berkshire Pork Shoulder was good. If we went again we'd all order that, chosing the half portion plus several sides rather than full portion. Ribs were ok. Beef tips kabob was bland and chewy. Great service and good coffee.

Service - our waitress was very friendly in the beginning but obviously something rattled her mid-meal. She was speaking with a co-worker, pointing at another table and complaining. She removed my husband's empty glass but did not ask if he wanted anything else to drink. She did not notice that I had 3/4 of my burger remaining on my plate. Possibly just an off night... Food - Appetizer was enjoyable. After hearing about the special blend of meat, I ordered a cheeseburger. After just a few bites, I encountered a sizeable piece of bone that actually hurt my teeth on the bite down. I understand that this can happen with ground beef but due to the size and pain, I was turned off to the rest of the burger.

I celebrated Mothers Day at Lucky Well with my husband, daughter, 8 year old granddaughter, and 5 mo. old grandson. Because it is a kid-friendly restaurant we were comfortable bringing the baby. The food was excellent as always--hush puppies as an appetizer, huge portions of bbq pork and chicken with sides and a fish sandwich. I've recommended Lucky Well to a co-worker and look forward to eating there again myself.

Had a nice meal with friends but not as good as the last time when I ordered the ribs. I ordered the SBG with shrimp, grits and pork belly but one piece of pork was inedible as it was just a chunk of fat. That was disappointing but the rest of the food was good. And they have a great selection of beer.

We have been to the Lucky Well three times so far. Each time we enjoyed a delicious dinner, awesome drinks, and very accomodating wait staff! Our last visit to The Lucky Well, was on my son's birthday to have their snow crab legs. You have to understand, he is a very picky eater and when we find something he likes, we stick with it! Even though their regular Monday night crab special was off the menu (due to the holiday weekend), the restaurant staff made sure they had some crab legs set aside for my son. That made his night, and showed me that The Lucky Well really does put their customers first!! Thanks again for a great evening!

We were welcomed appropriately and seated promptly. We passes trough the large bar areaa which seemed very active. I had the specialty pork shoulder, allegedly in the Memphis style. The pork was tender and well cooked. A bit too much fat. They need to trim after cooking and before "chunking." I found the sauce a little too heavy for my taste. My wife's salad and apprtizer wer large portions and good. Will go back but wont have the pork.

We had high hopes for this new place to hang out and grab some afftordable bar food and a drink. The servicer was unattentive, the room was dark, hard seats, dropped cafateria ceiling, and generally not cozy or comfortable. Our burgers had to be sent back since they were not cooked as ordered and repeated on us long into the next day. Eww. We may stop by again for a quick cocktail after a movie, but never to eat. We'll stick to Bridgetts.

We love Ambler, the Lucky Well is by far a great improvement over the Shanachie. The atmosphere is inviting and pleasent; there was great energy in the air and it was a fun time. The food was questionable for the price: We tried the Brisket, Chicken and Ribs platters. The brisket was great and the sides were excellent and really rich; the flavors were outstanding. The spices were perfect. I may not know Memphis Ribs, but I like my ribs fall-off-the-bone, these were not. Maybe that is Memphis Style, if it is, I would change to good Ole NC Southern Fall-Off-Da-Bone style. The Chicken was a little under cooked. We ate our fill of good food, and when we came home, the next day I turned the Chicken and Ribs into a delicacy!

We met friends for dinner on a Friday night and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious EXCEPT for my friend's brisket sandwich. It was very fatty and he left a lot on his plate. I would have said something but it wasn't my place. A shame because everything else was delicious. My husband got the brisket plate and said it was delicious. All in all a fun meeting place for a dinner out with friends. A little loud but not overwhelming.

It's rare to find a place this "cool" in the 'burbs. The Lucky Well has a hip, casual feel from the moment you walk in the door but when the food and drink arrive you realize that the place is really all business. There are no frills here, just good, honest BBQ and strong but dangerously subtle drinks. The sausage is delivered to your table as a slab of meat in a dish, likewise the brisket - they need nothing more, their flavor speaks volumes. Hush puppies and cornbread are must-haves to complete the experience.

I would not hesitate to come to the bar for a drink. However, our experience in the restaurant left much to be desired. The service was extremely slow, on a day when there were multiple parties waiting for tables. The time it took to order, and between courses, was much too long. We had to flag down our service to pay our bill. If we were going across the street to the movies, or to the theater down the street, we would never have made the show. On top of bad service, the food was mediocre at best. Brisket was much too fatty. I must admit we were warned, but the extent of the fat was appalling. The hamburger was sweet and non-edible - just not like a barbequed burger. The ribs and chicken were not satisfactory either.

This is a nice find in a charming town. It was very busy and we ended up waiting for a few minutes even with a reservation. Definitely a good place to try. The regular fries (served with the sandwiches) were the best thing of the night, but the garlic fries didn't even look appealing and my husband said the regular ones were way better. The servings are very generous and reasonable priced. I'd say it is definitely a place worth trying.

The food was fine but we were asked multiple times if we wanted our food "wrapped up" even though none of us were close to finished . This began happening only 10 minutes after we were served our four entrees and 3 side dishes. This was so annoying that we did wind up having our meals wrapped and we left- we were in the restaurant only 1 hour and 10 minutes. Would NOT go back

We loved the place as soon as we walked through the door! Chad was right there to greet and meet us. Beautiful restaurant, decorated very tastefully. Service and food were outstanding! Chad came and chatted with us several times which was awesome as we were all rooting for him to be the Next Food Network Star! He might not be a Food Network Star, but he is certainly an Ambler Star! We all had the BBQ! Unbelievable! Brisket, Beef Ribs, and Pork BBQ were excellent! I would highly recommend the delicious Kale and Brussels Sprout Salad! Everything was excellent! We would go back tonight if we did not live in North Carolina! It was definitely worth the trip! Great job guys!
