Wonderful meal after an afternoon of wine tasting in Woodinville. Service was excellent, halibut special was spectacular and the bread pudding with caramel sauce was a great ending to a relaxing evening. Always an enjoyable experience.

Around 9:30 the dancing started at the wedding in the private room upstairs... which may have included some form of clogging or stomping and was quite energetic. It was very annoying and I noticed cleared the restaurant pretty quickly, It will not keep us from coming back, but I will be sure to inquire if there is a wedding upstairs before making my reservation. As always the food was fabulous.

This was my wife and my first time dining at Russells. I found the restaurant online and saw that it had been rated high. We were not disappointed. It is not the easiest place to find but well worth the hunt. We both had halibut which was a special and it was prepared perfectly. The Caprese salad was excellent with heirloom tomatoes. The service was very attentive and well trained by someone who is familiar with fine dining. We will definitely be back!

Russell' is a real gem, located in a nondescript office park that used to be a dairy farm - the restaurant has been converted from the old barn. Food, ambience terrific! One of our favorite places to eat. After dinner ask if you can go upstairs and see the attic party room - it is just breathakingly beautiful. Servers are experienced and good. We've tried most entrees on the menu, all top notch - a litttle disappointed at the duck, done somewhat medium rare - would have better, as is most fowl, a little better done. Salads are crisp and delightful. Go soon, but don't take our table!

Enjoyed a wonderful Date Night at Russell's. Found this after a restaurant search of the area, first time here. Service was excellent. Server was very knowledgable about the menu and very attentive. Menu was full of choices. For starters, my wife had the Caprese and I had the Baby Spinach Salad. Both were plentiful and scrumptious. For dinner, my wife ordered the gorgonzola ravioli and I had the NY Strip steak. Outstanding meal!!! will definitely come back and bring friends. Thanks Russell!!!

Asked for potatoes instead of rice. Got rice, they then brought the potatoes as a side dish. Server comment: Now you have the best of both worlds. Guess she thought I wanted both. What a snide remark! She also questioned my partner (an expert in wine selection). Again, a snooty attitude. She could chase away customers by the dozen. Food was just so, so. Ravioli dish described as having walnuts? Couldn't find one! My steak was tough. Won't recommend - Won't go back.

We dined here on the recommendation of a coworker, who said the food wasn't necessarily fancy, but that it was perfectly prepared. We were not disappointed. Service was very good, and we liked the atmosphere. We shared a fresh, very tasty spinach salad, which was quite adequate even when shared by two people. The focaccia bread was also delicous. I had sea scallops, which were wonderful. My companion had the double-cut pork chop and said it was great. We both appreciated having a mix of fresh vegetables along with delicious mashed potatoes. We were too full for dessert but will come back another time. In summary, this is top quality food that shines by being thoughtfully and expertly prepared without unneeded and trendy embellishment.

We entered Russell's to a warm greeting and quiet atmosphere, The tables were eloquent with their white clothes. Waitress was attentive and congratulated us right away on our 52nd anniversary which alerted us that they cared. From an extensive wine list, we selected an Italian Sparkling (same as champagne) which was bold and fitting for our scallops and ravioli covered in a walnut cheese sauce. The summer salad was decorated with mangos and strawberries and was refreshing with a raspberry dressing. The caramel bread pudding surrounded by Happy Anniversary topped off a very delicious anniversary dinner. I would recommend Russell's for special occasions. Kudos to staff for a BIG 5 rating ... we will do it again.

First experience dining at Russell's after several had recommended it. Service and food were very good. There was a large group in the bar waiting to be seated that were fairly raucous. Unfortunately once seated the could be heard throughout the restaurant which made it a bit loud over dinner. I had the duck and mushroom risotto, which was a very nice portion and prepared perfectly. The restaurant setting is unique and housed inside a converted barn situated amongst various businesses. Other than the noise from the dining group, the experience was very good.

Everything about Russell's is simply the best. Best steak, best scallops, salads, desserts.... we have enjoyed everything we've tasted on their menu. Their wine list is excellent and mixed drinks are generously poured. The service staff are excellent; trained very well and they seem to show up exactly when you need them - never intrusive, but always cordial. If they had a commanding view of Puget Sound, they would be perfection. This is our favorite place to be when dining out.

I planned a wine tasting weekend in Woodinville for our anniversary. While searching for a nice restaurant to take my wife to for dinner, I came across Russell's. The reviews looked good so I made a reservation. I wasn't disappointed! The service was personal and outstanding. The food was nothing short of amazing! My wife had the seared chicken and I had the Prawns in fettichine. It was awesome! You also get to bring your own bottle of wine with no uncorking fee! We were looking for a nice place to have dinner the other evening while in the north end of Lake Washington and were excited to find Russell's on Open Table, rated by previous diners at 4 1/2 stars. The tag line of fresh, local food prepared simply was appealing. We didn't expect simply to mean bland, however. The wait staff was attentive but not warm. The wine suggestion was spot on and the salmon excellent. However, the accompanying gnocchi and vegetables were dry and tasteless. The entree and salad arrived promptly, but the lag time between them and the entree was interminable - and we are slow eaters! Decent - yes. Memorable - not. Considering a bill of $100 for an average dinner, not the best value.

  • Tasty food, but proportions off
    MsHeatherNW
    Dined on 6/22/2013
The food here was delicious but the proportions were off. My Brie on Baguette appetizer had 6 portions, more than any one person could eat and still have any room left for dinner! It would have been nice if it had been offered in individual or sharing sizes. My boyfriend had the lamb with risotto, and while he said the risotto was delicious, he got maybe 1/3 cup of it. I ordered the gorgonzola and walnut ravioli, and while they were also delicious, I only received six 1.5" raviolis in my entree, accompanied by over a pound of mushrooms. I was quite disappointed in how few ravioli were in the dish, especially considering I don't even eat mushrooms! Their flavors are good, they just need to serve more appropriately proportioned dishes.

We really liked that the restaurant supports Washington wineries by not charging a corking fee if you bring in your own favorite bottle of Washington wine. The food was delicious and the portions were perfect—we ate every bite. Our server was so-so. A bit perfunctory. And we were in early when it wasn't busy. That was the only downside. That, and the restaurant wasn't particularly...charming. That said, we're definitely giving it another visit. The food was just too delicious not to.

Decided to try this restaurant based on recommendations from some others in the wine industry. Made reservations for 7:30 PM and we arrived a little too early so we had a glass of wine in the lounge. We were shown to our table about 7:30 and the waitress was very nice and knowledgable. We started with a Pan Seared Scallop appetizer and it was awesome. My wife ordered the Prawn Fettucine and I orderd a Rib Eye special. (Note - order your steak EXACTLY as you like it because that's how it will be cooked. I usually order Medium to get a Medium Rare steak. My steak was cooked Medium. My fault.) All in all a wonderful dining experience.

6th time at Russell's and the last time for a steak. First three time the steaks (New York or Rib Eye Special) were fantastic. I called Russell's the Metropolitan Grill of the east side at 1/2 the price. Now the last three times the steaks (2 New Yorks) were flavorless and (1 Rib Eye Special) was great testing but stringy and tough. I just cooked a better RibEye at home that I bought at Costco for $9. My Daughter has had the Salmon all 6 times and loves it and can't wait to go back and my WIfe has had the Halibut and has loved every bite. The scallops for an appetizer are always perfect. I will skip ordering a steak and try something else. When you pay $34 to $48 for a steak it had better be good and unfortunately they have let me down.
