China Grill provides a globe-spanning culinary adventure in a spectacular setting. While Asian flavors and techniques are an influence, the menu is labeled as “world cuisine” with virtually every dish being prepared on either grills or in woks using ingredients gathered from pantries around the globe. Portions are generous, dramatically presented, and meant to be shared family style. Spectacular architectural settings, including an exhibition kitchen in the center of the restaurant are also part of the China Grill magic, creating a place to see and be seen.

The restaurant appears to be trapped in the late 80's/early 90's. It looks like a faded hotel and needs work to improve. While some of the food was great, it wasn't anything to sneeze at and the prices should have been 30% lower. Service was attentive and our waiter was nice, but seem frazzled at a time the restaurant wasn't busy. The highlights were the hosts and waitier. The low points were easily the overall ambiance. Bathroom attendants? Uniforms? This isn't a four seasons restaurant.

Waiters tend to rush you. They don't give you a chance to digest in between courses. They ask you if you need another drink when all glasses are still full.

Really enjoyed the food here. My daughter and I enjoy Asian food in general and this was a true fusion of all that is good in each cuisine. Service was great and our waiter was informative and amiable - what more can I say! Go again........next time we're in New York, absolutely.

I have dined here dozens of times and love China Grill, but the one time I take my husband and sons, bragging how outrageously delicious the food is, I'm disappointed that the chefs that night did not back me up. First of all, the wasabi potatoes were overcooked and watery--you could not tell them from paste. I should have sent them back, but my sons are easily embarrassed, so I didn't. The chocolate temptation sampler plate seemed to be thrown on the dish and not beautifully presented as it always is. They have always had such high quality food and presentation that I expect better. The rest of the meal isn't worth mentioning so I guess they must have been having a bad night.

China Grill is our all time favorite NYC restaruant. We usually order too much food but all goes.. fun to go with a group and get a few of each and just do family style. the Lobster crepes are to die for... everything is just so so so good! There is not one bad thing on the menu.. Highly recommended.. a little pricey but worth it! we usually go for an early meal before a broadway show, or just for any special occassion.

Sadly, though I have heard great things about this place, I was disturbed by just how bad the service was and how poor quality the food was. I would say that I can only hope I caught it on a bad bad and due to its reputation would try another visit, but be warned... if my first experience is anything to go by, this place was bad.
