We chose to eat at Lungomare because it was on Jack London Square. The outside dining was lovely! We ate lightly and only shares two dishes. The burrata and smoked salmon appetizer was delightful. We also split the vegetarian panini. Unfortunately, the crust on the bottom was soggy and the sandwich fell apart. The flavors were mild with no hint of the promised goat cheese. I'd come again, but only for wine and apps.

Lungomare was new to us so thought we would try it with a party of six. It was a delight - all of us agreed that the dishes we selected were some of the best in the Bay Area! We shared the Frito Misto - most overcook it - but Lungomare got it perfect just as they did the Grilled Asparagus appetizer. Each of the main courses was a wonderful blend of flavors and each guest commented about how good it all was. We all agreed that this may be our new favorite restaurant in the East Bay - no need to go to SF for great food. The service was very, very good from the time we walked into the restaurant. The waiter was friendly, efficient and spent just the right amount of time attending to us.

Celebrated our 41st wedding with family. All six of us had a wonderful dinning experience with the waiter's suggestion on appetizers and dinner entrees. Being Monday night, it was not as crowded when we were there on a Friday or Sunday Brunch. Will be back for sure.

I want to like Lungomare - but after two visits I would say that while the food is consistently good, the service is consistently bad, and the atmosphere is somewhere in between... It doesn't seem to have a real identity, and the space is very spread out and inconsistent in feel - even our window seat near the back, with a water view, did not feel romantic or cozy. The server did not greet us for quite a few minutes, and then without an apology or even a smile. He really could have been warmer and friendlier - it would have gone a long way in improving our impression of the restaurant. With so many very good restaurants in the East Bay, I cannot say that I will return to Lungomare, or recommend it to others...

At $32 the rib eye was fatty and not that good. It was resting on the mash potatoes, turning them into a fat gooey mess. Wait staff a little on the slow side, but us not too bad for others intolerable. Salads were fresh and tasty.

Service was lacking and disorganized. Inside the noise level was high...they need to put in noise reducing ceiling. Food was fair ...pizza was not very good, smoked salmon was stinky smelling, salmon salad the same...the only good dish was prosciutto salad.

We go to Lungomare pretty regularly because we have a largeish group of people who go out each weekend for brunch. Lungomare can always accommodate us, and their servers are super flexible about adding more people to our party, and multiple methods of payment. The service isn't always that responsive, and it seems like the food runners at Lungomare are either overworked or confused. We don't go for a five star service experience, we go for good food and cocktails, and to hang out a while. The view can't be beat. I REALLY wish they hadn't been smoking pork out front though. The restaurant smelled of smoke, and all of us reeked when we left. I had to have everything I was wearing washed, and couldn't stand the smell of pork in my hair.

I received a promotional email for a Father's Day roast pig feast and it sounded great! So I made a lunchtime reservation and we all headed there with high expectations. Turns out, the pig was not ready and we had to order from the regular brunch menu. While I realize that cooking can be a bit unpredictable, it would have been great to get a phone call offering to change my reservation time. It would also have been great if the manager actually acted like he cared when I expressed my disappointment in having specifically booked the reservation for a special event - and for the pig. Nobody cared, no one poured a complimentary glass of champaign (which would have been so easy!) the the food was average - no reason to come back.

Don't be put off by a kind of plastic-looking facade as part of the hotel. The menu is creative and diverse. Great gluten free options. Excellent wine list. Wonderful location on the water with plenty of out door seating. The indoor dining ambience was pretty drab plastic looking but again the food, service, and location were excellent.

Went for the Sunday Wine Down Dinner, which seems like a very good deal. Service was good but uneven: our waitress was excellent -- knew her stuff, made substitutions as requested, etc., but the busing staff were not so good -- cleared my plate and left the table when my companion had maybe 2 bites to go, had trouble arranging things on the table, stepped on my companion's foot (and did not notice)... The food was quite good, within reach of very good but not quite there. The chicken was flavorful and moist but on the salty side, and how can a half chicken not have a breast? We will definitely give this one another try; there were a number of items on the menu besides what we ordered that we would like to sample.

I was having a working week-night dinner at Lungomare for my board of directors' quarterly meeting. We decided to be seated inside so that we could conduct our meeting. Outside, the tables were filled with diners enjoying the wonderful weather, food, and drink. As a cocktail, I had the Mandarin Creme Soda. For dinner, I had the grilled octopus appetizer and the squid ink chitarra which both were simply fabulous. I will come back again to try other menu items I eyed. The attentiveness of the servers was excellent, too! The servers/wait staff made sure we had everything we needed to make our dining experience pleasurable.

We went on Memorial Day for a birthday dinner. The bar was packed but we were seated inside in the empty restaurant. After five minutes, the waiter came to take our drink order. Five minutes later, he was back without drinks to take our dinner order. We asked for the drinks first. He returned five minutes later to say they were not ready. We again ask for the drinks first. They never came. After waiting another ten minutes, we left.

My lunch event with my daughter in law almost had a terrible beginning. A homeless person threw a container of liquid that smell of alcohol onto the outdoor patio; the contents splashed onto two diners, and struck the table we were almost seated at. For some reason, I asked to be seated at the next table. Fortunately, my daughter in law as not hit by the object, but would have been had when sat at the original offered table. Instead her blouse was slightly splashed by the horrible contents. Fortunately the outside air dried the splash which was minimal and we preceded to have a wonderful lunch. Out servicer AJ was very efficient and personable!

Had brunch here twice in the last month, once on Mothers Day where the buffet was fantastic - and not that expensive. And the second with a group of friends. Wonderful patio, beautiful location, friendly staff, and delicious food (great choices like poached egg over softshelled crab, a shrimp-asparagus frittata, and duck eggs). Plus Jack London Square is a treat - amazing Farmer's Market on Sundays.

Party of 8 for an early dinner on a weeknight. So the restaurant was not busy at all, which translated into attentive service. We had a drink on their patio space--nice firepit, comfy seating. Our server was great. The mussels, the pork chop, the linquine with prawns, the hangar steak...all looked and tasted delicious. For starters we had a beet salad, grilled asparagus, prosciutto with salad, kale with almonds as a side. Generally speaking, anything salad/greens-related was under-dressed--which left things tasting a bit lackluster. I think with some tinkering, the dishes would be elevated. The star dessert was the olive oil strawberry short cake--delicious, different and the group favorite. Would come back again. Hope it sticks around!

I've tried Lungomare twice, both visits were top dining experiences from the appetizers to desert, and the wine list by bottle & glass was well above average (trust me). The service was friendly handling requests, refills and recommendations. The large space is nice w/ low noise levels making conversation easy. I won't review each dish, all are well executed w/ quality ingredients and a good value. The antipasto menu is much better than most and the cheese & charcuterie plate options are better than most I tried lately. Kudos to the staff, we were offered things rather than having to ask, no scanning the floor to get attention for water, bread or whatever... this creates a relaxed experience often underrated but makes a difference to me.

I set up a meeting with old friends and even though I arrived early for my reservation, the staff went out of their way to be accommodating, inviting us from the bar to our table for six 15 minutes early. The bar was so comfortable (with pleasant outside seating in the middle of Jack London Square), that we were slow to make the move. The place has a great selection of micro brews and I was very happy with the octopus starter I ordered. Considering its ambiance and location, the prices were to be exected -- not cheap, be everyone seemed to enjoy their time there.

My only regret was not to be able to order the budino, as I was full. The aragula basil pesto pizza was a little bit on the dry side, but the crust and the taste are very good. I had the Ligurian Fish stew, it was delicious. And, as usual, the bread served with the meal is terrific. I also wish the meatball spaghettis would be offered more often, it was so delicious when I had it in November. The meat was moist, with a perfect balance of pork/veal, and the tomato was truly awesome. This is only one of a handful of restaurants offering "real" Italian food.
