20 years ago Toqué! opened featuring local produce: a showcase for Quebec's terroir and its suppliers. The ongoing contributions of these artisans is no less important today.   • "Excellent food, Awesome service and and passionate personnel. We've been there on a very special occasion and we will remember our whoile life. It is pretty expensive, but worth every single penny. Best food I ever had (sorry honey and Mom!). Thank you Mr. Laprise, Mr. Fabien, Mr. Maxime and all the staff. The staff to client ration is 1:3 which cannot give results other than being exceptional. My wife & I have decided that this is a once a year MUST."

  • "This creative and elegant cuisine is based on traditional Quebec dishes using locally and regionally sourced foods. The atmosphere is particularly welcoming for a fine dining restaurant. Our waiter Sebastian was knowledgeable, helpful, and a delight without being obtrusive-a perfect wait person.The wine list is extensive and the steward is a great aid in refining the choices. Our amuse-bouche was a rutabaga mousse with cocoa butter accented with cocoa-excellent surprise. I enjoyed princess scallops to start and a beautifully prepared rabbit for a main course. My partner enjoyed lobster salad and a risotto. The prices are what you would expect for this type of restaurant. Toque! has a Relais et Chateaux designation."

  • "Before going, you know already you're headed for a pricey dinner. The only question that remains is whether it will be worth the premium or not. Here are the reason that make me think it is worth it: - The food: all 7 courses tried were very good but 3 of them were exceptional. The deer was out of my comfort zone but it might have been in the top 3 pieces of meat ever had. - The wine: extensive menu. It is worth asking advice to discover new gems. - The service was polite yet warm. - Even packed, the place remains relatively quiet. - Tables are nicely spaced out. At the end of the day, it was a great experience."

  • "Finally made it to the Toqué! Needed a special place for a special occasion and I could have not asked for more. Our evening was perfect from the smiling welcome at the reception till the end. Food, wine and service were just perfect. We loved everything, including the thoughtfulness of the staff in bringing along a congratulations card wrapped in the finest chocolate I tasted in town. Bref, fantastique et merci à tout le staff pour cette soirée inoubliable"

Only dish that went a little awry was a lobster/lamb option, each of the six other courses was exquisite and well paired. The highlights were the duck and a pairing of mackeral with a positively cider-esque wine. Table service was impeccable, with the highlight being the personal introductions of each wine by the sommelier, who had a delightful manner, amazing knowledge and the ability to evoke a complete sensory experience."

  • "It was my sons 23rd B day and I decided to spoil him along with myself as we try different exclusive restaurants around Mtl. Where do I start............the service was impeccable, friendly, very knowledgeable and courteous. We decide to go for the food tasting menu and let me tell you they did not disappoint. Everything was exquisite and the choices they selected for their wine accompaniment were outstanding! The time flew by as we just savored every bite full to the conversations that we had between a father and son! Yes a little pricey but let me tell you worth every penny in my books for sure! Will definitely return that is a given! Thank you again to a wonderful culinary experience! These guys just simply know how to do it."

  • "We did the tasting memo and were thrilled with every bite. We didn't want to do the suggested wine pairings (minimum $80 pp, 4 of us) so asked the sommelier to suggest a bottle each of white and red that would complement the food and that wouldn't be too expensive. He was friendly and knowledgeable and offered to go down to the cellar after talking with the chef. His recommendations were great. Not only did we have good wine, but we also were not made to feel dumb or cheap. The chef creatively worked around my nut allergy. Our server gave brief, expert descriptions of each course as it arrived. The service was impeccable. The decor is not stuffy, rather understated and welcoming. Glad we finally came here."

  • "The other reviews weren't lying when they said service was slow. I don't recall service being like that when we first went five years ago. That's why we returned. We had a 6:30p booking on a Thursday night. We started with some great cocktails-- some sort of honey-meyer lemon-gin&tonic mixture. We opted for the surprise tasting menu. Granted, we did say we would like to enjoy our drinks for a bit before starting dinner, but the seven courses took three hours! The only thing I didn't like from the meal was the sweet bread course-- why would you put something like that on the menu? Additionally, I thought the main protein (duck) was weak. I was left craving cow or pig."

It is worth mentioning that it is a surprise tasting menu, which as its perks, but I admit I like to follow the menu, so this was a novelty to me. The service was impeccable. The hostess and the waiters where very amicable and helpful. The decor is very cool. The wine cellar is quite impressive. I would recommend dinning at le Toqué to anyone who likes good food and a great ambiance."

  • "We went to Toque to celebrate my husbands bday. We were greeted well. Servers were polite and knowledgeable about food. We opted for salmon confit, artichoke soup as appetisers that were out of this world. For the main course, we had chicken and Walleye fish. The fish was done to perfection- delicate,balanced and luscious. The dessert we ordered were caramel icecream and trifle--the trifle--was awesomest.. There is a reason why Normand Laprise is an institution--5 stars to him and his team. Will go again-- will recommend it to my friends."
