  • "We were really surprised to find such a wonderful restaurant in Gordensville. The food was first rate and a small but varied menu. We found the wine list to be very extensive and appropriate for the restaurant. The service was very attentive without being obtrusive. we would definitely go back again and will try Sunday Brunch. "

  • "We were greeted warmly by Chef Gasparini himself who explained the nightly specials and chatted briefly with us. My husband thought the house-smoked salmon was among the best he has ever had, and the pompano was exquisite as was my veal chop and vichyssoise. The decor is charming and the the service attentive. We will definitely return soon!"

  • "Brunch at Pomme was excellent. The food and service are outstanding. It was a little noisy due to some loud talkers but this did not mar the experience. If you want consistently good food and professional service, choose Restaurant Pomme."

  • "This was our fourth meal at Pomme and it continues to be our favorite French restaurant. It has a quiet, country style atmosphere and friendly staff and the food is consistently great. We also love the way the owner stops by and visits at each table.."

  • "Pomme is a very nice restaurant with excellent service and ambiance. My reason for not recommending has only to do with the the limited range of menu items that appeal to me and the relatively high cost of those items."

  • "We had been to "La Pomme" several times before but quite a few years back. The restaurant is as good if not better than we remembered. We highly recommend it. As we can no longer drink wine we could not comment on the wine list, but we are sure that it is as good as the restaurant."

  • "My mother turned 75 last week and we had dinner at Restaurant Pomme to celebrate. What a great experience! The food was excellent and the portions were so large that neither of us could finish our meals (such a shame!). Also, the service was wonderful (thank you, David!): friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive - but not hovering. All in all, a wonderful time and a great value. Many thanks for such a lovely dining experience. We'll be back!"

  • "This was a perfect find for our 25th Anniversary celebration. It was our first time visiting The Pomme and we will return again. Loved everything and will return."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our multi-course meal. The appetizers, sides and desserts outshone the main dishes, we thought. Best creme brulee I've had in years! Pomme offers an extensive wine list and we had a very good French Bordeaux at a reasonable price."

  • "We spent a very nice evening with our party of 4. Wine selection was well chosen, sommelier knowledgeable, and featured higher and moderately priced selections. Food was nicely presented and well prepared. More informal county-style French dishes, not classic haute French cuisine. Staff was pleasant and friendly. We even parked at the front door of the restaurant! Worth the visit if you are visiting Charlottesville area, particularly the wineries in the Gordonsville area. We will go back the next time we are in the area."

  • "Pomme is perfect for a special luncheon. I live about 100 miles away, and I go 2 or 3 times a year. It is worth it. What a wonderful lunch we had to celebrate my sister's birthday!"

  • "Always a treat to dine at Pomme. The daily specials--Cream of Mussel soup and lamb--were outstanding, It's wonderful to have a nearby fine restaurant that consistently pleases."

  • "We were the last ones there, it was 8:30 on Thursday. It's quiet in Gordonsville at that point. I suggest seating by 8:00 at the latest. Pomme is French cuisine and the atmosphere and service reflected fine dining. It has more of an intimate setting. We started with the escargot, it was served out of the shell in a nice pesto cream sauce. I had the duck which was cooked perfectly under a cherry reduction. My wife had the filet, also very nice. We did not stay for dessert, we did not need it and we were the last ones there and felt it was time to depart."

  • "First time dining at Pomme and it was a wonderful experience. From the very steps into Pomme we knew we would be well taken care of as they had honored our reservation request for a quiet table. The menu is small - which I love - a few things done right. And our dinner was definitely done right!. Food and service was excellent and the wait staff friendly and helpful. It's a lovely place and we look forward to dining there again."

  • "Wonderful ambience with its quaint French country style. Staff was attentive and chef even personally reheated my soup which was a delicious Butternut squash with apple and carrots. Food overall was not excellent but good. Great place for lunch with a special friend. Loved décor and was nice to see adults dressed as they should for a special place!"

  • "My wife and I choose to celebrate Valentines Day on Saturday by making a day trip out of it from Richmond. We ate at Restaurant Pomme after a few stops at vineyards along the way and were very happy with our dining experience. Both the food and service were top notch which made the drive well worth it."

  • "My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a dinner at the Cafe Pomme. It was a wonderful dining experience. The service, meal and atmosphere were all outstanding. We highly recommend it!!"

  • "Pomme is my favorite French restaurant in Central Virginia. My wife and I most recently had Valentine's dinner there. The food is always quite good, and the Cabernet Franc from Anjou was excellent and reasonably priced. Desserts were stellar. The waiter was attentive and witty (in a good way). My Long Island Iced Tea seemed a bit heavy on the brandy, but was all right. The only other less-than-perfect note was our table location; probably because of the high demand for Valentine's day, we had a table in an overflow dining room that was boxy and a bit too brightly lit. Still, over all a very fine experience."

  • "Having done the circuit of French restaurants in Charlottesville, Pomme is a real gem. A simple but well designed menu, and wonderful preparation of food. A very light touch on sauces, so not overpowering, but still with some very innovative flavour blends. The nougat desert was truly inspired."

  • "Dined at this restaurant on Valentine's Day evening. It was convenient to the Shenandoah Crossings resort where we were spending the weekend. My lady and I both had the veal and thought it was excellent. The prices appeared comparable to and competitive with the other high-end locations we browsed in the Charlottesville area before making the reservation."

  • "Restaurant Pomme is a real find, and worth taking a trip to experience. The food is excellent, and innovative, well prepared and presented. The dining room is small, but the tables are well spaced. The staff is eager and enthusiastic, although perhaps less experienced than one would find in a fine French restaurant in a major city. All in all, this place is our choice for a "special occasion" restaurant in Central Virginia."

  • "Once again, Restaurant Pomme has delivered. Everything, from service to food, was superb. Thanks to Dave, Eleanor, and the chef, our belated birthday and anniversary celebrations were fantastic. This is a restaurant that does not try to be anything other than a venue for great, well-prepared, semi-rustic food served in a quaint, simple, inviting atmosphere. If you want pretense or the newest Cooking Channel fad, this IS NOT the place. Once again, we are both grateful and thrilled!!!"

  • "Once again Pomme did not disappoint. This must have been the 7th or 8th visit and as always the food was incredible, the wine was perfect, the service was expert and the ambiance enchanting. Dining at Pomme really is like travelling to France. The oxtail stew was rich, dark and melt-in-your mouth tender. The choucrute was authentic and hearty. The apple cake was so light it hardly required chewing and the chocolate croustillant was heavenly. No regrets here."

  • "Given that there are 4 of my favorite all-time dishes a available at Pomme, I have a hard time choosing. The place is simple, comfortable, and welcoming. Just like a restaurant in a small village in the French countryside."

  • "Service was indifferent. French onion soup was unremarkable. I had a brie apple and caramelized onion lunch special that was tasty but it didn't compensate for an overall mediocre experience."

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at Restaurant Pomme. It is a gem in the neighborhood. The Salade Gaspar was a wonderful blend of flavors. The Sea Bass special of the evening was perfect and the Veal and its sauce was fabulous."
