Special dinner a hitLa Pomme is a gem hidden in a very small town but well worth the drive. Our meal and service was very good / excellent. It was a birthday and anniversary celebration for two couples, which made it special. The prices are a bit high for rural VA, but it is absolutely worth it for a special occasion. Our evening there a wedding reception was also going on in the private dining room, which made for a few more people than normal, but the separate dining room is well hidden. The lunch is also excellent and more moderately priced.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMan old favoriteI have been to Pomme many times, though only ever for lunch. The distinctlly French food is always of impeccable quality, fresh and delicately presented. The chef owner is often visible chatting at tables, always charming. Particularly good dishes are the sole and the crab cakes, and they make a mean Bloody Mary! Even for someone living as I do in Fairfield County, Connecticut, the prices seem inordinately high ($18.95 for a lunch portion of sole?). But they obviously know their clientele and even in a rather unprepossessing little country town they have succeeded for quite a number of years to entice sufficient people into the beautifully appointed dining room to make a go of it. Long may they continue!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming French BistroThis type of restaurant is hard to come by in Washington DC these days. We miss it. A very pleasant experience.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice brunchThe food was very good..hot and served in a timely manner. We would probably go back but it would need to be a special occasion as it is pricey.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal for special occasionsMeals was out of the world and great example of classical French cooking. The staff made a 30 year aniversary special for my group. It's a wonderful drive from dc fredericksburg and Richmond .6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit of Europe in VirginiaThis is a charming restaurant, suprisingly set in the middle of a one-block-of-shops, rural community in Virginia. The interior/decor is very pleasant, comfortable, and reminded us of small restaurants we have enjoyed in Europe -- yet not pretentious. Actually, a little the opposite on the weeknight we were there. The food was great! (The best avacado appetizer I've had -- delicious.) We are fans of the Palladio restaurant at Barboursville Vineyard and enjoyed Pomme's reduced formality, yet wonderful food.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe dining experience wasThe dining experience was excellent: good food; good service, a neat little place6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the DriveExcellent food, we return to this long time favorite. It is a treat to take visitors while enjoying the area attractions. The drive is beautiful too.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is excellent, worthyThe food is excellent, worthy of a french ambiance6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCville DinerPomme was great. We went for a special occasion and it didn't disappoint. It was nice and quiet so we could hear our conversation and didn't feel like we were trying to talk over other noises/diners and the service was great. The champagne mushroom sauce on the scallops was absolutely delicious! It is not cheap but still less expensive than a lot of other restaurants of similar quality food and service. A great place if you're looking for an upscale, quiet night out. We will definitely go here again.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the finest French restaurantOne of the finest French restaurants on the east coast. The menu always presents multiple favorite options making it hard to choose. The countryside drive is pleasant. Five stars!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but priceyWhile the food is very good, the prices are high. A nice lunch for two, one glass of wine each, $120.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolute French perfection!Restaurant Pomme is the quintessential French dining experience. The menu is consistently filled with minor changes to classic dishes and the food is fit for a king. The combined atmosphere of Historic Gordonsville, French countryside decor, and exquisite food make Restaurant Pomme my favorite Virginia restaurant.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench gemGreat food set in a tiny town in foothills of Blue Ridge. French cuisine with nice atmosphere and good service. Our table was acting for us and we were greeted warmly. Can accommodate larger parties without disrupting other guests. There were four of us, and we all enjoyed our food: the sole meunière and blackened grilled shrimp were delightful.. Two of our party had omelettes which they liked, but think they regretted not getting something a little more special5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMRepeat visitWe needed a table for 7 for dinner and chose Pomme because we had had lunch there earlier. The atmosphere is small, authentic, French and the cuisine is typical French with many choices with a range of price represented. The service was exemplary, especially so, since our guests arrived late! A great place to entertain guests.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant Pomme was outstandingOur brunch on Mothers' Day at Gordonsville's Restaurant Pomme was wonderful, but then again, Chef Gerard Gasparini's dishes (as well as his humor and presence as he mingles with his guests) always is.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchExcellent rack of lamb abd asparagus soup. Set in a beautiful part of the Piedmont of Virginia, we will certainly go there again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day at PommeMother's Day at Pomme was busy, but we were never rushed and enjoyed a relaxed and delicious lunch. The prosecco aperitif was a generous pour; the Bordeaux by the glass better by far than most wines by the glass and the refreshing house Virginia Chardonnay is a bargain! The house salad with its hint of slightly mustard vinaigrette transported me back to France. My rack of lamb was superb: done to perfection and plated attractively. My husband's sole with Meuniere sauce was not up to the lamb. Lemon tart with basil sauce and a garnish of blueberries surpassed expectations with the basil sauce adding the perfect flavor foil for the wonderfully intense lemon tart. The chef made several personable appearances! Great value.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GreatPomme is never failing in providing a memorable evening. We find the food prepared to everyone's pleasure and delight.
One is welcomed, and served with courteous and capable staff members. Menu choices are varied and wonderfully prepared.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply FabulousThe appetizer, main course and dessert were all equally delicious. All in all a pleasant dining experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredibleIncredible! Absolutely incredible...so much so that we ate there twice in one week!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNOT our first or last visitNOT our first or last visit to Pomme -- a true Country French gem!! We have dined there several times for lunch, brunch, and dinner. The service is ALWAYS great, the food is perfect and never rushed, and the overall experience is one of the best. The dining room only has about a dozen tables (for 4 each), but there is a larger space next door for groups or parties. Our soup was the best pea soup ever, and our entrees were a fantastic beef, onion & cheese tart over fresh greens and pork armagnac with apples & vegetables. YUM-O!!! We had to share since we both loved both of the dishes. Folks should NOT wait for a special occasion to visit Pomme. We will definitely visit again soon - it's a shame we have not returned before now.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. ServiceFood was excellent. Service was attentive. Waiters were conscious of table conversation and interruptions were minimal.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Evening in GordonsvilleGreat French style restaurant, small and cozy but very fun!! Every item on the menu prepared carefully and beautifully. Cozy, 'French countryside' atmosphere. What a gem in the middle of Virginia!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSorry to have to lower theSorry to have to lower the rating on the noise level, had to do with the challenged child who was noisy. Overall experince was great. Will go again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a special place worthyThis is a special place worthy of our 2 hour ride.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPomme is one of our favoritePomme is one of our favorite restaurants in the Central Virginia area. It has maintained his top level of quality in food and service for years!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you are passing throughIf you are passing through Gordonsville do yourself a favor and stop at Pomme for lunch or dinner. The entrees are all great with service to match. It is nicely located if you are touring the vineyards.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Food, WonderfulDelicious Food, Wonderful Service, I was looking for somewhere special to bring my daughter who spent a while in France. Pomme totally fit the occasion! It was an awesome find! I had the filet of sole and she had the scallops, both were superb. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPomme has been a favoritePomme has been a favorite since we discovered it on a trip several years ago. We hadn't been back that way in a few years, but found it as good as ever. The salade landaise is a delicious meal in itself, chock-a-block with a variety of interesting tidbits the menu promises; onion soup here is perfectly "comme il faut:" a rich broth, plenty of onion, and a cheese topping that complements, rather than overwhelms, the dish. A nice hearty fish soup and a plate of fried oysters with salad were also excellent. Last, the addition of a light basil reduction to the lemony sauce on the lemon tart was brilliant.
Service was excellent and accommodating; the tasteful decor tops everything off.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA world-class French chefA world-class French chef in a quiet little country town. It was hard to narrow down from among at least 8 menu and special selections (out of about 16) that each could have been my favorite.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent and wellFood was excellent and well presented. Wine list offered a nice selection of domestic and French wines. Chef was very personable and attentive to customers. Some service staff was inexperienced, so there were a couple of minor fumbles. It was a full house when we visited, so the waiter was kept very busy. Service was maintained at an acceptable level despite the full house. Highly recommended for a special occasion or just a nice evening out.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAs a semi-regular, I findAs a semi-regular, I find the food to be consistently good. The presentation has greatly improved thru the years, and the wait staff is on their toes and happy to please. The chef ( and owner ), when time allows, is on the floor checking on the diners and happily greeting friends, old and new, and to answer any questions. . The sommelier (also an owner) is quite knowledgeable and happy to make suggestions. We have always been pleased with the recommendations. it is a delight to have this restaurant in the "neighborhood".3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant Pomme is a highRestaurant Pomme is a high quality French/European restaurant in an unlikely setting, the small town of Gordonsville, VA. The Sunday brunch has a very extensive menu with not only breakfast items, but things you could easily make a Sunday dinner. We opted for two salad dishes that were excellent--well-prepared and just the right-sized serving. Service was fast and friendly and the owner is very much in charge, visiting each table. The decor is warm and inviting and the interior quiet and conducive to conversation.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA very cordial and comfortableA very cordial and comfortable place serving excellent meals with special attention to customers (but not too much)3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMYou'll Want to ReturnThis restaurant presents an attractive exterior and a bright, cheery decor with attractive colors and a unique charm. The fare is delectable, whether one opts for the salad and exquisite butternut and apple soupe, creamy and smooth, prepared as only the French can prepare it or the scrumptious poulet dijonnaise, a lightly breaded chicken breast, seasoned to perfection, tender enough to melt in your mouth, drizzled with a delicate dijon mustard sauce and served with a rice and vegetable medly. Of course those are only a couple of the choices listed on their bill of fare. Do not dismiss any offering--each would be an excellent choice. Also, the wait staff are knowledgeable and reliable with their recommendations.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful and delicious.Delightful and delicious. I've eaten there before for dinner and we drove from Richmond for a lovely Saturday lunch.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreta's top place for dineingAlways enjoy the experience for going here. And he has obviously taken care to make sure things are cared for beautifully while he is away in France.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I ate hereMy husband and I ate here for our anniversary. It was a wonderful little romantic spot. I ordered the duck which was amazing and my husband had the veal which left something to be desired. The prices were high and I guess it just depends on what you order to determine if it was worth it. Our server was very attentive but not in the way. His service was great and he gave great recommendations.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA hidden gemOne of the top few restaurants in the Charlottesville area. That is quite a complement in my view because the restaurants in C'ville just keep getting better every year. Delightful small town location. Outstanding food and service. You feel like you are having dinner in Europe but only have to drive 17 miles from the center of C'ville.2/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a fine restaurantThis is a fine restaurant in the most unlikely of locations. We have been delighted to discover it because it is on the way from Richmond to one of our destinations. The food is creatively prepared and presented and always top quality. I would never have expected such a neat French restaurant in such a small town. This was a real discovery on our first visit, and we have made a special effort to visit the restaurant whenever we can. The food is nicely prepared and presented by a very capable and friendly staff.12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMCulinary Delight in the BooniesOnce again Chef Gerard treated us to the finest in worldly culimary delight.
