Restaurant PommeMother's Day BrunchExcellent rack of lamb abd asparagus soup. Set in a beautiful part of the Piedmont of Virginia, we will certainly go there again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant Pomme was outstandingOur brunch on Mothers' Day at Gordonsville's Restaurant Pomme was wonderful, but then again, Chef Gerard Gasparini's dishes (as well as his humor and presence as he mingles with his guests) always is.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day at PommeMother's Day at Pomme was busy, but we were never rushed and enjoyed a relaxed and delicious lunch. The prosecco aperitif was a generous pour; the Bordeaux by the glass better by far than most wines by the glass and the refreshing house Virginia Chardonnay is a bargain! The house salad with its hint of slightly mustard vinaigrette transported me back to France. My rack of lamb was superb: done to perfection and plated attractively. My husband's sole with Meuniere sauce was not up to the lamb. Lemon tart with basil sauce and a garnish of blueberries surpassed expectations with the basil sauce adding the perfect flavor foil for the wonderfully intense lemon tart. The chef made several personable appearances! Great value.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GreatPomme is never failing in providing a memorable evening. We find the food prepared to everyone's pleasure and delight.
One is welcomed, and served with courteous and capable staff members. Menu choices are varied and wonderfully prepared.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply FabulousThe appetizer, main course and dessert were all equally delicious. Staff was friendly and the chef came out briefly to check in with patrons. Really loved the dinner.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding gem of a restaurantA fantastic French gem in the midst of beautiful horse country. Definitely worth going to. Truly worth the drive.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistentThe food quality here never ceases to amaze. Absolutely incredible...so much so that we ate there twice in one week!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNOT our first or last visitNOT our first or last visit to Pomme -- a true Country French gem!! We have dined there several times for lunch, brunch, and dinner. The service is ALWAYS great, the food is perfect and never rushed, and the overall experience is one of the best. The dining room only has about a dozen tables (for 4 each), but there is a larger space next door for groups or parties. Our soup was the best pea soup ever, and our entrees were a fantastic beef, onion & cheese tart over fresh greens and pork armagnac with apples & vegetables. YUM-O!!! We had to share since we both loved both of the dishes. Folks should NOT wait for a special occasion to visit Pomme. We will definitely visit again soon - it's a shame we have not returned before now.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. ServiceFood was excellent. Service was attentive. Will definitely make the trip again!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA French Gem in Central VirginiaWonderful selection of French and local wines. Thoughtful, attentive service. Every item on the menu prepared carefully and beautifully. Cozy, 'French countryside' atmosphere. What a gem in the middle of Virginia!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSorry to have to lower theSorry to have to lower the rating on the noise level, had to do with the challenged child who was noisy. Overall experince was great. Will go again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a special place worthyThis is a special place worthy of our 2 hour ride.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPomme is one of our favoritePomme is one of our favorite restaurants in the Central Virginia area. It has maintained his top level of quality in food and service for years!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you are passing throughIf you are passing through Gordonsville do yourself a favor and stop at Pomme for lunch or dinner. The entrees are all great with service to match. It is nicely located if you are touring the vineyards.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Food, WonderfulDelicious Food, Wonderful Service, I was looking for somewhere special to bring my daughter who spent a while in France. Pomme totally fit the occasion! It was an awesome find! I had the filet of sole and she had the scallops, both were superb. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPomme has been a favoritePomme has been a favorite since we discovered it on a trip several years ago. We hadn't been back that way in a few years, but found it as good as ever. The salade landaise is a delicious meal in itself, chock-a-block with a variety of interesting tidbits the menu promises; onion soup here is perfectly "comme il faut:" a rich broth, plenty of onion, and a cheese topping that complements, rather than overwhelms, the dish. A nice hearty fish soup and a plate of fried oysters with salad were also excellent. Last, the addition of a light basil reduction to the lemony sauce on the lemon tart was brilliant.
Service was excellent and accommodating; the tasteful decor tops everything off.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA world-class French chefA world-class French chef in a quiet little country town. It was hard to narrow down from among at least 8 menu and special selections (out of about 16) that each could have been my favorite.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent and wellFood was excellent and well presented. Wine list offered a nice selection of domestic and French wines. Chef was very personable and attentive to customers. Some service staff was inexperienced, so there were a couple of minor fumbles. It was a full house when we visited, so the waiter was kept very busy. Service was maintained at an acceptable level despite the full house. Highly recommended for a special occasion or just a nice evening out.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAs a semi-regular, I findAs a semi-regular, I find the food to be consistently good. The presentation has greatly improved thru the years, and the wait staff is on their toes and happy to please. The chef ( and owner ), when time allows, is on the floor checking on the diners and happily greeting friends, old and new, and to answer any questions. . The sommelier (also an owner) is quite knowledgeable and happy to make suggestions. We have always been pleased with the recommendations. it is a delight to have this restaurant in the "neighborhood".3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant Pomme is a highRestaurant Pomme is a high quality French/European restaurant in an unlikely setting, the small town of Gordonsville, VA. The Sunday brunch has a very extensive menu with not only breakfast items, but things you could easily make a Sunday dinner. We opted for two salad dishes that were excellent--well-prepared and just the right-sized serving. Service was fast and friendly and the owner is very much in charge, visiting each table. The decor is warm and inviting and the interior quiet and conducive to conversation.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA very cordial and comfortableA very cordial and comfortable place serving excellent meals with special attention to customers (but not too much)3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMYou'll Want to ReturnThis restaurant presents an attractive exterior and a bright, cheery decor with attractive colors and a unique charm. The fare is delectable, whether one opts for the salad and exquisite butternut and apple soupe, creamy and smooth, prepared as only the French can prepare it or the scrumptious poulet dijonnaise, a lightly breaded chicken breast, seasoned to perfection, tender enough to melt in your mouth, drizzled with a delicate dijon mustard sauce and served with a rice and vegetable medly. Of course those are only a couple of the choices listed on their bill of fare. Do not dismiss any offering--each would be an excellent choice. Also, the wait staff are knowledgeable and reliable with their recommendations.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful and delicious.Delightful and delicious. I've eaten there before for dinner and we drove from Richmond for a lovely Saturday lunch.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreta's top place for dineingAlways enjoy the experience for going here. And he has obviously taken care to make sure things are cared for beautifully while he is away in France.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I ate hereMy husband and I ate here for our anniversary. It was a wonderful little romantic spot. I ordered the duck which was amazing and my husband had the veal which left something to be desired. The prices were high and I guess it just depends on what you order to determine if it was worth it. Our server was very attentive but not in the way. His service was great and he gave great recommendations.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA hidden gemOne of the top few restaurants in the Charlottesville area. That is quite a complement in my view because the restaurants in C'ville just keep getting better every year. Delightful small town location. Outstanding food and service. You feel like you are having dinner in Europe but only have to drive 17 miles from the center of C'ville.2/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a fine restaurantThis is a fine restaurant in the most unlikely of locations. We have been delighted to discover it because it is on the way from Richmond to one of our destinations. The food is creatively prepared and presented and always top quality. The greens in my salad were "gourmet" in quality and the pork tenderloin was delicious.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoy this restaurant wheneverWe enjoy this restaurant whenever we can arrange to drive through Gordonsville at mealtime. I would never have expected such a neat French restaurant in such a small town. This was a real discovery on our first visit, and we have made a special effort to visit the restaurant whenever we can. The food is nicely prepared and presented by a very capable and friendly staff.12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMCulinary Delight in the BooniesOnce again Chef Gerard treated us to the finest in worldly culimary delight.
