Even though I like their food over all, the dining experience is not as good. I really haven't had a friendly waiter/waitress who took the time to smile or make small talk and add to your fun night out. I appreciate good service, (which to me is just as important as good food) and it's not the best at Patois.

Food was delicious and had some interesting, modernized spins on standard dishes. Portions were generally very large except the most expensive item on Brunch menu (fish of day) which was very small. Bread basket very nice w huckleberry,Meyer Lemon and banana bread. Chicken-fried steak sandwich especially good as was double cheeseburger

My wife and I travel to New Orleans regularly and seldom eat the same place twice as there are so many restaurants we have yet to try. We'll be going back to Patois. The menu is truly French Country with hearty portions in a comfortable, intimate space. The chef clearly highlights fresh produce, even using a fresh tomato reduction in their Bloody Mary's. This has to be one of the best Bloody's in the city! Another unexpected highlight was the homemade apple butter. Our brunch was fantastic, the staff charming, and the setting simple and elegant. Nothing gimmicky or trendy here, just exceptional ingredients and preparation.

We visited for Sunday brunch. Great wine list; we had a lovely Spanish Cava that was new to us. The pumpkin/marshmallow muffins and banana bread with apple spread were unique and wonderful. The gumbo had a lovely dark roux. The appetizer of lamb chops was a meal within itself and would defintely order again. Fried oysters, great. Fried rabbit with gravy - amazing and unique. The standard American breakfast tasty - all with large portions. I was impressed with the heirloom tomato salad - obviously they don't refrigerate the tomatoes, preserving their flavor. Server was attentive and charming. We loved it.

Some friends from the UK were in town so we took them to Patois to experience a traditional New Orleans Sunday brunch. The food was outstanding - although our friends have visited New Orleans many times, they were very impressed with the innovative cuisine and the quality of the food and the service. All in all, a wonderful meal.

We had a lovely brunch on Sunday October 19th at Patois. One of the special appetizers on the menu was pate and it was delicious - mild and creamy. The beet salad was very good. For an entree we had the fried rabbit which was perfectly, lightly fried with good seasoning. The service was very good and the ambiance was relaxed. I would recommend Patois.

Great place to dine without the hassle of driving into Downtown. Food and service better than most uptown locations. One tip dine early evening before place fills up. Food service was excellent (not rushed just right) and noise level tolerable. We have returned to live in New Orleans after living outside of the State for fourth years. Nice to see the old neighborhood offer such great dining experiences.

Very over-priced lunch for small quantities of average food. Beet salad $13.50 for 4 thin slices of beet, 5 thin slices of apple, 7 hazelnuts, and less than a 1/2 ounce of farmer's cheese. This was a great disappointment!

Terrific! Wonderful food, friendly atmosphere, but what made the evening was the service. All the service staff, from hostess, to waitress, to bartender/general manager were great, making us feel welcome and happy to be there. We dined on the lower level, where the bar is located. Seems more casual, more informal, and also more fun. Very busy throughout our meal. The food is creative and well prepared. There's always some great new cocktails. Wine list selections pair well with the food. Best of all though is the staff. Highly recommend Patois!

Patois continues to have great specials that complement the small regular menu. Special dumpling soup was excellent. Pompano is a fish I always love in New Orleans and it was done very well. The service was great. This is a loud place so come for the food, not conversation.

Sultry space with a smoker out front hitched to a truck that smelled like bourbon soaked heaven. Our waitress was patient with us as we asked a ton of questions. The food was scrumptious. The frog legs with Vietnamese caramel: ginormous and succulent. My wife had the chitarra and I had the rabbit- which blew my fragile mind. They stuff it with boudin, wrap it in crispy chicken skin and serve it with a smokey kale that is still lovingly lingering in my mind. We had an opportunity to talk a little bit with Lorenzo, their GM, and Leon, one of the chefs. Their obvious love of food and hospitality was a thing of beauty to experience. My wife and I are on our honeymoon and they gave us a beautiful memory we'll always cherish.

went for brunch and found the mimosas, which were not bottomless, of average quality, small in volume, and over priced at $12 each. This place is quaint and cozy in a garden district neighborhood, but I found the food and service not particularly note worthy -- i.e. it doesn't say, "I must come back." Experienced significant sticker shock when I got my bill.

It has been a few years since our last visit, and the moment I stepped in the door I remembered why we stopped eating at Patois. Its ridiculously loud. It really is a shame because the food is outstanding, the wine list fun, service is great, the pricing excellent (not cheap by any means but considering the quality it is excellent ). It's a bit of a drive for us to get there and I would say its worth it but not if they can not reduce the noise level. It really takes away from what should be one of the top restaurants in New Orleans. So sad.

Although the restaurant was very attractive snd the Waite staff was excellent, the ftimks from the bar were bland and boring. While attractively presented, the foot was very bland except for the cold smoked pork chop that had an overpowering smoked taste. Being brined it should have been tender but was not. For the price, we were very disappointed.

The restaurant was busy and loud, but the staff noticed we were having trouble hearing each other they moved us to another table. The service was fine and attentive. My salad, however, was less than optimal. The shrimp were overdone and a bit tasteless, although the melon was very good. We had the short ribs with fries for our entree and did not like them at all. They had a bitter taste and were very chewy. Probably would steer folks away from this choice.

Patois means the dialect of the common people of a region. There is nothing common about this Patois. For an app we had the sizzling octopus. We usually get octopus grilled, but this wonderful, served in a crazy-hot iron skillet with lots of tomatoes and peppers. For a salad we had the crispy duck confit. Pickled peach vinaigrette dressing was fabulous and the duck leg was crispy so that the fatty parts were gone. For a soup we had the gumbo. It was super-rich and very tasty. While it was very good, it didn’t quite reach the heights of the other dishes. For entrees we had the gulf shrimp on chitarra pasta and the pork shop. Both were outstanding. For dessert we ended up with the “Snickers” and the peanut butter cup--delicious.
