Diner Reviews
  • "Very nice restaurant atmosphere. Food was good. Only complaint is that the portion size is very small, especially for the prices."

  • "All of the guests in our party had a very enjoyable evening. Appetizers, drinks, dinner, dessert were all great. Service by our waitress, Dawn, was superb."

  • "Excellent attentive service in a sunny solarium. My only complaint: some menu items were not available and the fish served with frites was farmed salmon--not the fish advertised."

  • "A fantastic dinner with close friends here in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Oban has been a long time favorite spot here in town, and now with its new dining room it is now one of the best restaurants in town. The dining room has a nice relaxed astrosphere and add excellent and attentive service you have a winner. It is across the street from the Golf Course so you get a bit of a view of the lake even if very limited."

  • "We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to try this restaurant again. It has been many years since we were last here. The food and service was great and we enjoyed the experience."

  • "Four of us dined during Fabulicious. Despite a bad experience there two years ago, we decided to give it a second chance. Although the service was good, the food was mediocre. Three of us found our first courses to be bland. I sent my entree back as the fish was overcooked and rubbery. The other three entrees were described as flavourless. The desserts that boasted coconut in their descriptions had no taste of coconut, although the desserts were tasty in themselves. We told our wait person of our dismay with the food after both the first course and entrees. The response was “I will let the chef know”. At the end of the meal, not a word of ‘sorry’ or a complimentary glass of wine in recognition of our poor food experience."

  • "If your looking for a traditional Christmas dinner and there is just the two of you, you must try the Oban Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Elegant, romantic and the meal was fantastic with a staff that were happy to serve you. Stayed for the night and enjoyed a pleasant breakfast the next morning. Will definitely go back again,"

  • "The food here is amazing but not cheap. Plan to pay $28-39 for a main dish. Good spot for a special occasion."

  • "Good but a bit pricey. Service was friendly and accommodating."

  • "We have always enjoyed our stays at the Oban Inn. The rooms are well-appointed, warm, and special. The hand-written welcome, the nightly rose, and the local preserves are a nice touch. The spa, which we took advantage of this time, is also excellent. Our dinner was delicious, but sadly, we were situated by a table of very loud people. We could not have our own conversation because they involved us in theirs, by the noise level in which they chose to speak; so disappointing when trying to have a nice evening for two. This was not the Oban Inn's fault, of course. Breakfast each morning was unique and delicious with a room full of sunlight and attentive service. We will continue to come back and enjoy this beautiful, welcoming gem."

  • "The service was below par, soup was tasteless, French fries were drenched with oil, not what we accepted for a highly rated place. Total disappointment."

  • "Restaurant was lovely, garden view beautiful, service thoughtful, main course (lamb) disappointing. Overall very good and I would return and recommend. Go early for good service."

  • "We enjoyed our meal at The Oban Inn. It was our Thanksgiving dinner as we spent the holiday week-end in the Niagara region. Our server was friendly and efficient and we had the special 3 course holiday menu. The food was tasty and well prepared. The only negative was our daughter very much wanted mashed potatoes with her roast turkey but they were not available."

  • "We were a group of 9 and had the long table in the Bradshaw Corner. The place was quiet and nicely decorated. Food was excellent in term of taste and presentation. Wine list was great. However, since I don't drink in public and my only comment is for the non alcoholic drinker, the choice was limited but still acceptable."

  • "The Chet's special menu was unavailable "because they had a wedding" and we were not told this until we wanted to order it! There were only a few tables occupied; it took 40 min to even get bread for the table. The food was mediocre. The waiter spent time talking to one table while other tables were neglected."

  • "overpriced, trendy menu, distant and cool service. low value. I miss the old Oban Inn - the plaid rug, the informal atmosphere, the piano. Bring them back and maybe I'll return. Oh and better value would be good, too."

  • "The service was slow even though the restaurant was less than half full. The main courses were $5-10 overpriced compared to similar restaurants. The food was over-salted. $200 for two with wine, tax and tip was about $50 over Toronto prices for a similar or better quality meal."
