Diner Reviews
  • "Had a lovely brunch in the garden. Food offerings were all lovely and great sangria."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "Food was of very high quality, but overly complicated with combinations of flavors that were at time jarring. Our server was excellent but the food delivery was mistimed - possibly because each plating was so demanding - so we did not all receive our food at the same time. Good show, but no heart."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "Food was excellent although portions were unusually small. Waitress did not provide good service."

  • "Love the patio area. Herb garden, flowers, gentle cool breeze coming through on a hot day. Couldn't have been any finer."

  • "It's in my neighborhood; the summer patio is delightful; the food is inventive but not too obscure. Brunch menu has good variety of salads, soups, sandwiches, and egg dishes. We had a lovely rose wine by the glass. And, the desserts -- don't miss them. Deconstructed, unusual, and delicious."

  • "This was our second visit. Our first, in late June 2013, was just about perfect - excellent ambience (we ate out on the patio, a lovely space - , wonderful food and great service once the staff got going - but it took them 25 minutes to actually do anything except seat us. This visit, we arrived a little earlier - 7 or so - and the food was as good, the service friendly. However, we ordered aperitifs, kept the wine list to hand, and enjoyed our kids. Then the food was delivered, but before we had ordered the wine. This was quickly corrected, but the gentleman delivering the wine spent 5 minutes chatting with customer he knew. Again, excellent food, but it's expensive, and we expected better service. Don't misread this - we'll be back!"

  • "A lovely restaurant. Would recommend outside seating. Food well prepared and presented."

  • "Our family celebrated being in New Mexico with dinner at Restaurant Martin. We had a fabulous meal including the chicken, pork tenderloin and beef tenderloin. It was absolutely fabulous. The desserts were devine. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere beautiful. We sat on the well-appointed patio on a gorgeous Santa Fe evening. Our evening will be well remembered."

  • "Nicely balanced creative menu - good wine list & excellent service - dined outside which was more interesting than interior"
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Main courses were salmon and tuna; both were excellent. We split a salad (only 2 choices of salad) and a $3 charge was added to the bill. Total bill for 2 (without drinks) was $86. Very pricey."

  • "We celebrated our 29th anniversary with a tasty Sunday brunch on the spacious patio. Will definitely return."

  • "The written descriptions on the menu and our waiters descriptions of the specials made it hard to decide what to order - they all sounded amazing. We went with 2 appetizers, the pea soup/shrimp salad, and a tuna tar-tare. Both were beautiful to look at and delicious. Our entrees were the duck and the soft shell crab (a special). Both were light, with delicate flavors and colorful presentations. For desert we went with the sherbert and ice cream samplers which were also light, flavorful and presented like works of art. For the quality of the food, the prices seemed reasonable, especially for Santa Fe. Portions were on the small side, but that is what we were expecting. Overall, we were very pleased and will be back to try other menu items."

  • "Restaurant Martin is a world-class dining experience. After several visits I am continually impressed by the chef's creativity. There are a number of truly great restaurants in Santa Fe, but I keep returning to Martin for that special meal."

  • "FANTASTIC!! Restaurant Martin has sophisticated tastes with great portioning and amazing presentation. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience there and cannot wait to return. Food and desserts were both superb"

  • "We love dining at Restaurant Martin -- for lunch or dinner -- but keep hoping for some new dishes on the menu."

  • "I read the reviews and they were awesome so we were off to try it . We sat outside in the courtyard and it was lovely. We did up and did. 3 courses and every thing we ate was wonferful."

  • "Two of our party had the cobb salad and we both felt that it missed the mark. A good cobb salad allows one to get several or all of the ingredients in one bite, as it is the combination of flavors that makes this salad great. The cobb at Restaurant Martin was served on a "crouton" which is actually a slice of brioche toast. The toast has a couple of pieces of bacon and some awkward chunks of grilled chicken on it. Romaine was piled on top of the toast and the meats. The romaine hearts were served as a traditional Cesar would be. This works for a Cesar because there are few ingredients, but does not work well for a cobb. The lemon dressing on the salad was good. Perhaps a better way to change up this classic would be modify the ingredients."

  • "While the chef is very creative and the preparation and execution are excellent, the conceptions are just too complicated with too many ingredients. No simple elegance here. An entree or dessert would be perfectly prepared but surrounded by innumerable accompaniments that distracted from the central flavors. The server also was distracted. At a restaurant of this level, the server should have paid closer attention to when wine needed to be poured, when empty glasses from a previous bottle should be removed, and when the water bottle should be refilled. We are locals and probably will not return soon."

  • "The food here is amazing. The attention to colors and textures in presentation are reminiscent of very fine places in Paris. Look for the nesting doves on the patio portal."

  • "We had a great meal, food was wonderful. Only negative was a snippy waitress who didn't like the fact we were disappointed they didn't serve cocktails."

  • "We had a fabulous dinner with a client at Restaurant Martin. The special swordfish entre was inventive, delicious and perfectly prepared. Dessert, panna cotta, was perfect."

  • "Each day at Restaurant Martin, the chef offers a seafood creation, an entree not listed on the menu. My seafood creation included halibut, dill, green grapes, Thai dumplings, butternut squash, and more awesome things I can't remember. It was as beautiful as it was sensual. I started the evening with the Blue Lump Crab Cakes. The dish was transcendent; I was in love with it. Like, emotions welled within me after the first taste. I finished the night with a delicious muscadet. The staff was extremely attentive and considerate. I was impressed by their attention to detail and dedication to my positive dining experience. They were happy to accommodate last minute reservation changes (on a weekday) and made fantastic meal suggestions."

  • "The outdoor patio is a great place to meet friends, because you can actually talk to one another in a pleasant setting."

  • "We were hoping for a lovely dinner outside but mother nature had other ideas. So we ended up inside at a cozy table for 5. Everyone enjoyed their dinner very much. Halibut was the evening special. Mine was a little overcooked. Someone else's was cold. Not sure what that was all about. But the duck was amazing, the lamb was divine. This is a wonderful restaurant. Not for you if you are on a budget. Note the number of $$$$ and believe them. But it was a special dinner for an out of town guest. I would come back in a heartbeat. No one rushed us to leave. Service was very good. A few times our waiter was gone for a while but really not an issue because we were talking. "

  • "I had a wonderful dining experience there. The Yellowfin tuna tartare was incredible with flavors so amazing I did not want it to end. Ditto on the duck."

  • "This was our first trip to Restaurant Martin, and we would be happy to return! We have only been to Santa Fe twice, and each time have spent lovely evenings discovering some of the wonderful restaurants there. The staff was extremely courteous, the food tasty and unique, and the wine recommendations were enjoyed tremendously. We would be honored to return there and bring friends. (Of note, we ate outside on the patio - our choice. It was a beautiful evening and quiet even though there were approximately 6 or 7 other tables filled also.)"

  • "My husband & I recently enjoyed a very lovely dinner at Restaurant Martin. I always prefer outdoors dining (plenty of that at Restaurant Martin) but it was a very warm day so we opted for an inside table with cool a/c. Our server was prompt & attentive giving us plenty of time to linger over our wine before starting dinner. We enjoyed Caesar salads (light, crisp, very flavorful) and I ordered the Tuna Tartare appetizer while my husband had the beef. Both plates were extremely beautifully present, preparation impeccable, full of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, absolutely delicious. And my husband ordered choc cake (delish) for dessert & we had 2 capuccinos (perfect). Perfect proportions so you can enjoy every course. Loved it!"

  • "Disappointing. My chicken tasted like it had been precooked. The halibut special that a nearby diner had, smelled quite fishy as it was being delivered. Too many of the dishes had extra ingredients that were not necessary. I don't need fancy foam and pureed vegetables added to my meal. The new building doubles the size of the restaurant but it lacks any charm. I felt like I was sitting in a converted garage. There were overhead doors (like garage doors) that overlooked the kitchen door. Tables were too close together to offer any privacy. I could hear my neighbors' conversation the entire night. I hate to criticize fine dining establishments and creative chefs but this place is off our list."

  • "Our family met in Santa fe last weekend and we were looking forward to dining in the new annex. The venue and the food did not disappoint. Thank for a wonderful family food memory."

  • "In this small city with many good restaurants, Restaurant Martin stands out. The menu is very creative and unique. The food presentation is outstanding. The service is very familiar with the menu and how the food is prepared which adds to the meal. When the weather is nice, there is a wonderful backyard patio to dine outside. With our last visit we enjoyed the tuna tartar, the pork belly appetizer, the vegetarian tasting menu, and the seared tuna. All were delicious."

  • "We had lunch on the patio and had a wonderful server who knew the food, the wine and was happy to give us recommendations for other places we might enjoy while in Santa Fe. I had the crab cakes which were served on greens with cherry tomatoes, bacon and sautéed mushrooms. There was a red chile cream with it. Lots of different flavors but they worked. My husband who is always in search of the best fish tacos loved the ones he had at Restaurant Martin. That day it was halibut which they cut into small bite size chunks and deep fried. Each piece waS crisp and crunchy. We would definitely eat here again when next in Santa Fe "

  • "Again, Martin offers a mellow, well prepared lunch option for folks in Santa Fe. A tasty pea soup followed by a nice fresh beet and green salad and flavorful salmon BLT w/ fresh french fries (sweet potato optional) provide a substantial repast for hungry gourmands at lunch."

  • "After multiple visits over several years, Restaurant Martin continues to be one of the very best dining experiences in Santa Fe."

  • "One of the top two or three in Santa Fe. Menu is inventive. Service was top notch. "

  • "High quality food, excellent wine, great service. The servers are very knowledgeable about food and wine, which is uncommon. All around, very nice."

  • "Martin has become one of if not the top of our list for SF dining. We like this better than Geronimos. Food is always interesting, diverse, delicious, and wonderfully presented. The cucumber pea soup this time was amazing. Wait staff was (and always is) very attentive but not obnoxious. Another great experience for our 11th anniversary."
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "Very clever food combinations, each item stands alone while complimenting everything else on the place. Most original creations of traditional and classic dishes, never spicy or overwhelming but with back grounds ints of additional flavors and textures. An experience to remember. Will definitely eat here next time we are in Santa Fe."

  • "With the addition of the beautiful new annex, you have the option of being seated indoors, but feel as though you are outside in the beautiful garden. Brunch was creative and delicious, as always. Jennifer Rios makes you feel welcome when you walk through the door, and the staff is well trained and efficient. Five stars!"

  • "Since our first visit to Restaurant Martin a couple of years ago, a dinner here is a must on every trip to Santa Fe. From the food to the decor/ambience, everything is always about as close to perfect as we have found anywhere. Of course, it isn't dinner on the beach in Hawaii, but the food is good enough to make you not care. Soup, pork belly, beets, chicken, duck, all of it is delicious! We will keep returning for more great gastronomic experiences!!"

  • "Menu has changed. We really used to enjoy Martin but each menu item has too many ingredients. New menu items are confusing to the palette. Less is more!"
