For nearly a decade now, you can enjoy at Leméac a taste of classic French cuisine. Our bistrot specializes in traditional fare like steak frites, short rib, home-style blood pudding and cabillaud. The menu also offers an elaborate wine list, a selection of Quebec cheeses and a variety of homemade desserts.
Enjoy all this in a casual ambiance and a sophisticated decor, on the beautiful heated patio on the garden side or through the large windows overlooking Laurier Avenue in Outremont.

I've been going to Lemeac for years, I would eat here minimum once a week for lunch and supper. There's been a recent trend in increasing pricing while at the same time making portions smaller. I've noticed the service to be less attentive and often rude than what it used to. Last night as my main I ordered the hangar steak with fries ($28), the steak was enough for 5 bites. I asked the waiter if they changed the portions and he said this is the normal size. Overall there are tons of other French bistro in this city who will gladly accept your business open arms and offer a better bang for your buck. M.G

1x at Lemeac was awesome, but the 2x left me indifferent.Though this restaurant has quite the wine list, I came here to experience the food. The 1x I went was for lunch & the novelty of it all was exciting.Crab entree and the risotto was good, although it was too al dente for me.Second time, hubby came with me for supper.Although the place wasn't crowded, we were sat by impolite hostess in a tiny corner where we barely had enough room on the table for all the dishes, cups, etc..We asked to have a bigger table but were refused.Hubby is mostly into poultry/meat dishes & we noticed that there weren't many choices. We shared the warm goat cheese & it was great.Dishes are quite copious, but place not adequate for a romantic evening. Our waiter A1.

Second visit to Lemeac was once again irreproachable! We had steak/frites, calf liver, and salmon tartare. The steak and liver are both better than L'Express. The salmon tartare was very fresh but our daughter was not fond of the truffle oil and preferred the classic version of tartare she had at our first visit. The terrace is lovely. There is enough distance between tables that patrons can feel comfortable discussing without being overheard and without overhearing others talking. We arrived at 5:30 on a Sunday and when we left at 7:30 the restaurant was full. Service is superior, they never rush you, very attentive without ever being intrusive. Mid price range for three people entrees, main meal and desserts before tax $135 + great wines

A Montreal resident recommended Lemeac as the best restaurant and her personal favorite of Montreal to my girlfriend days before we left for the city from Chicago. She gave us the best insider tip we could have received! It is a very classic place French restaurant, with a wonderful indoor-outdoor dining room and energetic, friendly crowd. Our drinks were very good and the food was even better. Our first bite of the salmon tartare appetizer let us know we were in for a real treat. The highest recommendations.

Never disappoints. Excellent fish soup, gazpacho, goat cheese salad. Guinea hen was a winner for our cousins, who said it was the best meal they had had in a long time. I had a very generous portion of duck Margaret with ravioli stuffed with mushrooms, and slices of carrots and radish. Superb! No room for dessert but everything looked enticing.

We really enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Leméac! The last anniversary before our baby is due...The athmosphere was very pleasant - You can hear the music yet it wasn't too loud so we were able to carry on a conversation. The service was great with very friendly and knowledgable wait staff. The Food was amazing! We really enjoyed it!! The dessert is a must! They all looked amazing, but the French toast "pain perdu" with caramel maple serup and dulce de lece ice creme was to die for!!! Generally a great experience with delicious food! We'll def be back!!

My friend and I ate there during a brief trip to Montreal. The food and the service were lovely. My friend had the hanger steak and I made a meal out of four appetizers. I had the gazpacho, roasted calamari, vegetable tian, and salmon tartar. The only disappointment was the salmon. The fish was sweet and perfectly fresh but it was a one note dish. It was a delicious note but I needed some kind of contrast -- be it in taste or texture. The lemon curd tart was devine.

We were at Lemeac on Saturday June 14 ,2014. Though we had a reservation, our table was small with a view of the wall. The appetizers were the best part of the deal and certainly tasty. Our server left to go on break and we waited quite a long time to receive our bill. While we were waiting, one of the people on the table next to us got his meal spilled on top of him. Shortly after that, we heard a crash of glasses breaking in the kitchen area.

I love Lemeac, everything about it, including the noise which can be over-powering. Hands down it is the best bistro in town, with a way better, more varied menu than L'Expresse and alas Laloux, my previous fave, is now but a pale imitation of its once glorious self. The best calamari dish in town for an entree and Boudin noire with celeriac, plus all the usual suspects; the $25 menu late night menu is still a treat and the terrace is lovely. I even like the washrooms.
