  • "The menu was extensive and varied. Plenty to choose from: meat dishes, fish and seafood. The restaurant has a selection of entrees that are prepared table side. I did pick one and was not disappointed. Our waiter engaged in conversation with us only if we spoke with him or asked him questions. It was not awkward having him there if we were just talking among ourselves. He was quite professional. The decor was very tasteful and obviously a top end restaurant. Great wine selection and don't hesitate to ask for info on the wines - they assist without making you feel like you don't know wines. With top notch service and excellent food it's an excellent choice."

  • "I reserved for my husbands birthday dinner and WOW! It is not the first time that we dine there but each and every time it is an experience and what a "spectacle" for the "flambées". The service is impeccable and the manager comes and ask you if everything is OK. He asked me if it was for an occasion, which I said yes and specified what, he made sure that my husband gets a piece of cake with a candle on it and there was no singing (which was greatly appreciated) but was very discrete. I recommend this restaurant to everyone at least once."

  • "This was our third time eating at La Continental and it is always a treat. The food is fantastic and the staff is very attentive and helpful without being overbearing. Our waiter (Bruno) was particularly engaging in helping with selections and while preparing the tableside dinners. Truly this is a restaurant which is in the classic old French style and is a must do while in Quebec City."

  • "We walked over to this gem from our stay at the Chateau Frontenac. It was a great choice. We had the Caesar salad for two made table-side. The flavor and quantity of this salad were to die for. Honestly it was enough for an entire meal. We also ordered the Duck that was flambe table-side. The experience of the food being made in front of you along with the high quality and great service made this meal one that I will never forget."

  • "My wife and I had dinner here on the last night of our QC long weekend. We decided to go out with a bang and save the best for last. It did not disappoint. The ambience was classy, with waiters in white jackets - who did the majority of the cooking tableside. You don't see much of that anymore. Our waiter was great, as were the other staff. The chateaubriand for two was delicious (although they served it with an onion gravy instead of béarnaise sauce). It was fairly expensive ($175 for the meal with a glass each of wine) but I didn't mind spending the money. Only complaint was the temperature of the vegetables. They were served on the plate while the meat finished cooking and got cold. They could have adjusted the timing a bit."

  • "Le Continental is known for its table side, open flame cooking. Unfortunately, during our service our wait staff was changed three different times by the maitre'd to serve other customers who had "requested" them! The result of this unprofessional approach was that I had to ask passing by waiters three times to refill my wine glass and most discouraging of all, our Crepe Suzette for two burned at the table and had to be taken away due to the lack of a coherent wait staff plan! In sum, if you know the maitre'd you will be well served ~ if you don't know him, BEWARE! This dining experience will most likely be unpleasant with inexcusable lapses in service! Overall, the service was unacceptable and the overall dining experience was poor!"

  • "I took my husband to Quebec City for his birthday. We stayed in the Old City at Auberge St. Antoine and walked the short distance to Restaraunt Le Continental. We made reservations and our little romantic corner table was waiting for us! We don't speak any French besides hello, please and thank you, and we were thankful that our waiter had very good English. The food was delicious (filet flambé and salmon), and it's a fun show to have the authentic Caesar salad and flambé dishes made right in front of you. Highly recommended for a great meal in a convenient part of the town."

  • "The restaurant is known for flambe and they do a truly outstanding job in this regard. Their Caesar salad is made at the table in a traditional fashion and is to die for. Our server prepared shrimp at the table which were perfectly cooked and had an amazing flavour. Additional meals were rack of venison. Yum! The staff are very friendly and helpful. All courses were outstanding. Wine recommendations were excellent. Not a cheap place but worth every penny. Be sure to have at least one meal they prepare at the table. We will definitely be returning."

  • "The moment you walk in the door you know this restaurant has its act together and you can see they are going after a first class dinning experience. One reviewer though this restaurant is for older patrons. But the night we were there we saw a mix of all ages and why not, incredible food appeals at any age. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and WE Highly recommend Le Continental for a special occasion. We each had the filet and it was sweet torture smelling the sizzle of butter and prime beef a mere three feet away for 15 minutes! If we lived closer than 7 hours we'd make up excuses to come here. My husband said as we walked out the door to our waiting taxi, "Honey, you hit it out of the park when you found this one"."

  • "I went here with my mother and 11 week-old infant and they couldn't have been more accommodating for us. The noise level was very quiet, the staff were very professional and friendly, and the food was great. We tried the Spanish and Brazilian coffees that are warmed and prepared right at the table with fire. The server did an excellent job with both preparing the coffees and giving us a bit of a show. The food definitely met our expectations. The onion soup wasn't the best we had in town but still good. We appreciated them accepting us as guests with an infant and not once did they make us feel we were an inconvenience. Great restaurant!"

  • "My wife and I visited Le Continental during a recent vacation in Quebec City. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, and definitely felt well taken care of. We do not speak French, but the wait staff was very friendly, helpful, and patient with us as we muddled through. I would describe the food as old-fashioned, or classic. Nothing fancy or especially innovative, but well-prepared and tasty. Whether or not one feels that justifies the expense is a personal decision. I, for one, went in with the expectation that it would be expensive, but also that we would have a satisfying and enjoyable experience at the restaurant— I felt that's absolutely what we got."

  • "As always, wonderful food, impeccably served in the courteous tradition of the 1950s. The only dark spot was that I had called just after making the reservation on line, to ask for a window table since this was a special occasion. On the telephone, they told me that they would find a good window location for us and that they had made a note on this. But once we arrived, we were told that our reservation was through opentable and that there were no window tables reserved for us. Other than that, excellent experience."
