I had a wonderful evening because of the ambiance and the old fashion service which you don't see anymore. But I was disapointed with my sole de Douvres. It was overcooked and the vegetables were cold and very ordinary. The crêpes Suzette were very very good. If I go back I think I will try their flambés it's probably what they do best.

After looking at the reviews, my expectations for this restaurant were high. They were exceeded. Every course was fabulous. From the crab and hola raise sauce, to the Shrimp Flambé to Crepe Suzette for dessert, frankly, I was a glutton - nothing went back to the kitchen - and I don't regret a thing!

For traditional French food, it's hard to beat this place in Quebec, or anywhere else for that matter. Professional, attentive service. Good wines at fair prices. Excellent food. Do have the flambés, especially the desserts. They're very well done. Worth the calories.

This was our second visit in just about a year. Looked forward to it with great anticipation, as our first visit was outstanding. Our chateaubriand was slightly underdone, and sent back. It returned with half of it cooked to medium and the other half well. It could. Easily have been finished table side, the first time. The maitre 'd comped half the meal, which was fair. The service was outstanding, even though the dining room was very busy.

The first person we saw when we entered, was the ex-prime minister Jean Charest! haha! The ambiance is really cool. You feel like you're in Downtown Abbey! The service is excellent. There was a lot of old people and I understand why : the menu is really old fashion. Nothing spectacular at all. No exotic mix or vegetable. The most exotic thing I saw on the menu was a salmon gravlax. I had veal with sauce and blueberry with vegetable (they were just steamed, no butter, oil or spices.). The dessert was really good. The soup was really ordinary. The salmon gravlax was very good. My friend took the fish and there was a lot of "arrêtes" in it, so we was constantly removing them. We took the "Table d'hôte", maybe the "À la carte" is better.

We now have in Quebec, restaurants which offer great food for a less expensive price. Of course, the service and decor are breathtaking. This was my third visit at the Continental and my last. I would recommend it to visitors or someone who wants to try something new. If you love meat, you won't be disappointed. Otherwise, presentation of food in the plates are dull and not up to date. We enjoyed it, it was a romantic evening.

This was an outstanding experience. It was our 50th wedding anniversary dinner and the entire team at this restaurant made it a special occasion. the food was outstanding. recommend the ceaser salad for 2 made at table side. mustard steak cooked at table side was also great. our waiter (arange) was on top of everything and give us just enough attention to make it a special evening. I will return to this restaurant on my next trip to Quebec. This restaurant makes a special occasion very special.

This restaurant is known all over Canada & the US, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The wine list was extensive and our waiter helped us choose a bottle that was to our liking and in our price range. The food was prepared at our table by our waiter. He explained what he was doing as he prepared our duck with orange sauce. I had never eaten duck before, so to say the least, I was a bit nervous, but figured this would be a perfect place to try something new! It was delicious, with a wonderful brown mushroom sauce and a slight taste of orange. Dessert was excellent, too. When in Quebec, you HAVE to go here!

This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel where we stayed, and it certainly did live up to their description as a perfect place to celebrate our 24th anniversary. The service and food are traditional (some might say old school) French, and our meals were fabulous. And expensive. And totally worth it.

Wonderful menu with many choices, but the piece-de-resistance is the flambe. Prepared table side, the aromas and the flames are a very fun way to have a classic dinner. Its not cheezy in any way, simply elegant and smart. The service, perfectly bilingual, is among the best you will find in any large city. The servers are pros and interact well with the guests. This restaurant is on par with any 5-star restaurant in NYC or elsewhere, but its not trying reinvent flavors with modernized infusions. Just classic preparations with top ingredients done well. Great location near Frontenac. Dessert did not disappoint. Go here for a great meal, superior service and a classic dining experience en Quebec

  • Lost Reservation??

    Dined on 9/16/2014
After arriving at the restaurant, our reservation couldn't be found (special occasion). Was told they "no longer dealt with Open Table." After dinner, I asked the Maitre'd (different person than the gentleman that seated us) how they could "loose" our reservation. He informed me that they didn't, and he had the reservation and knew it was a special occasion. It must have dawned on him nothing had been offered to us for the special occasion so he offered us drinks in the bar while we were leaving. We already requested our car (valet) and it was a "little late" to compensate us. All in all, we were disappointed in how we were handled. If the Maitre d' is unavailable, perhaps they should have someone at the door who knows what they're doing.

Our wedding anniversary fell on a day whilst we were on vacation in Quebec so we decided to have a nice dinner to celebrate the occasion in style. Le Continental which had been recommended by a Canadian we met in Scotland fitted the bill perfectly. The service and food were top notch and well worth the spend. So if you fancy a splash out, for whatever reason, the restaurant and its staff will meet your every demand and more.

The restaurant is nicely decorated in classic style. The staff is quietly pushy; I asked several questions and he pushed me to an order which didn't meet the description he gave me. The food is fine if you are still comfortable with mashed potatoes, a piece of steamed cauliflower, etc. I thought that the pricing was quite high given the food presented. If you aren't a sophisticated consumer of French food, you will have a lovely experience. And, if you give the waiter a wine price point he will double it and make you feel as though you are a rube if you don't agree. The food was fine - it was just double the price point in terms of what it was worth.

Finally a classic restaurant that lives up to its reviews. We were promptly greeted and seated by the Maître d' in the elegantly appointed surroundings. Our waiter was charming but very professional. His 19 years with the restaurant shone through his knowledge of the wine list and menu. Every course was excellent but the table side filet mignon was the highlight - very flavourful and tender. We. The pheasant with wild berry sauce matched well with the goat cheese salad. The all male wait staff were very attentive throughout and the pace of the meal was perfect. One of our most pleasant dining experiences. It's pricey but worth every penny.

Unfortunately our waitstaff had little time for us. We wanted to ask about the menu, some suggestions for wine, etc... We were unable to get anyone's attn for more than a few seconds. We asked for a recommendation and were told "steak and Caesar salad" as our waiter walked away from our table before we were able to respond. When we did give our order, our new waiter (a different waiter) walked away before we finished our order so we never got a salad. We didn't get wine because we didn't have a wine list or anyone to ask about it. We felt immediately rushed, and like we were a bother. Without wine or salad we still spent over $250. The food was ok. The whole experience left us underwhelmed. We went there because of the rave reviews.

Sophisticated and elegant place! The food varied from so-so to excellent. An example of the former was the so-called Caesar Salad for two ($32!)which had bacon bits, soft lettuce, and no anchovies. Though it was prepared at our table and portended to be special, it did not at all meet our expectations! However, my husband ordered the Steak au poivre which was superb and I had the rack of lamb which equally rose to the occasion. I would have preferred less of a rich sauce so that I could savor the meat by itself. The onion soup was very good but the desserts were just OK. Great wine, though! Finally, the service was a bit pretentious (plus our waiter seemed bored with us) and my husband had to wait 30 minutes to get his Port!

Truly a superb restaurant with excellent service and fantastic food. Even though the guests could dress from casual to formal, the staff is dressed like you would expect in a top tier restaurant. Staff was helpful and on top of everything from refilling the wine to refilling the bread when one type of the bread choices were gone. Wife loved the leek soup and veal medallions and my onion soup and rack of lamb was really outstanding. Mousse was presented very well and it was absolutely delicious. Nice wine choices (we had a Chateauneuf du Pape that was excellent). Enjoyed watching the tableside presentations of different dishes. Would definitely return if we visit QC again.
