Diner Reviews
  • "With a 5 or 7 course menu, and wine pairings matched to the major courses, its a full evening event. The paired wine went exceptionally. They change the entire menu every day, which may be good for people staying at the , however I feel this made for some less balanced dishs with acidity over powering many of the flavors. The stars of the night were the quail, dungeness crab, and the play on risotto with sunflower seeds. Personally, I liked the opener which was an egg shell with layers of base (yoke) citrus, and a sweet cream / foam on top. If you don't pay attention to getting all of the layers together, you may get a blast of citrus however so a few members of my party were disappointed. Tour the wine cellar if you can, a sight for sure."

  • "The dinner was fantastic from the moment you are escorted up to the dining room. The view is breathtaking. The service staff was attentive but not overbearing. We had the grazing 7 course tasting menu with the flight of thoughtfully paired wines. The food was creative, fresh, utterly delicious. The portions were perfect so we were sated but not stuffed. Our sommelier Sue was knowledegable, delightful to talk with and completely sans any pretention. Overall, this dinner was magnifique"

  • "This resturant has changed SIGNIFICANTLY in the last year. Menu, seating, the whole experience. Cost 400$ for 2people. Nothing extra or out of the ordinary. A year ago, it would have cost 120$ for 2, and portions were much larger, & more to choose from. Needless to say, that's about how much I spend on groceries a month!! To stay positive about breaking the bank..it was a' good experience' , but I wouldn't do it again nor would I recommend to friends and family. Too snooty, and far to expensive for our liking."

  • "I booked a table for 2 for Sunday night and when I get there, I find out they are closed on Sundays. What the...? Luckily there are more restaurants at the resort. We walked over to the Bistro and asked for a table there. The maître-d told me I already had a reservation. Say what?! Looks like opentable has there restaurants crossed. Anyway, the Bistro was just average for an Italian restaurant. "

  • "A bit Overpriced, I was expecting the food to blow me away. Didn't happen. It was a nice experience but don't think it's worth going back again."

  • "I had been hearing about Latour for a while and really wanted to experience it. We had heard about their amazing wine list and heard the food was great. The room is nice, kind of plain and stuffy- not what I expected. We had challenges with the wine, as we picked 3 different wines all of which they were out of. The waiter did nothing to help us, by suggesting an alternative, and we waited nearly 45 minutes for someone to keep going back downstairs to find out they were out. The first course was nice, I'd recommend the scallops or gnocci, but the main courses were very "ok", I had the veal which was dry and hard to cut with no sauce. We didn't do the tasting menu and were limited in choice. I've eaten at much better without all the fuss."

  • "Fantastic cuisine, particularly excellent preparations of wild game dishes. The wild boar sausage in the cassoulet was perfectly flavored and the venison was spot on in preparation. Kudos to the pastry chef, the flourless chocolate cake was perfection. Wine list was unbelievable, and in multiple volumes (really who buys $16,000 Romanee-Conti?) but there were definitely excellent selections in a still pricey, but special occasion range of 100-200 a bottle. Although the service was pleasantly good, I would say that for a restaurant of this caliber, the staff should be more visibly enthusiatic about their service. Both myself and spouse made exactly the same observation regarding a lack of "passion" for the service."

  • "This is one of the finest restaurants in the Tri State Area. Latour can successfully compete with the best in New York City on the basis of food and service. The wine list is one of the most extensive in the United States. The service is impeccable. I recommend a reservation that allows the viewing of the sun setting over the mountains. Suzanne, the sommelier, and Bruno, our favorite waiter, make a fantastic pair to assure a memorable dining experience. It is impossible to select any item that will disappoint. The seasonal menu changes assure a wonderful variety along with the list of outstanding permanent menu attractions."

  • "I love this restaurant. I've been here twice before and always feel like i've stepped out of NJ and into a beautiful mountain restaurant in California or Italy. The service is wonderful, they truly understand how to cater to their clients, and the food is delicous and carefully prepared."

  • "By far the best dining experience we ever had! Definitely recommend the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairings - and don't look at the menu in advance - was more fun to be surprised!"

  • "My meal was wonderful, wine list amazing but my waiter was snooty."

  • "The food was vastly over-rated. The presentation was artistic, but the flavors were unimpressive. We ordered the tasting menu. Many dishes were overly salty. The service was very attentive, but it took far too long between tiny portions. In all, not worth the money."

  • "This was our first visit to Latour. While it was a very long drive from out home, the trip was worth it. The food was exceptional and the service, excellent. Because of Valentine's Day, the menu was a 5 course prix fix. The choices were more than adequate. The room although comfortable, is smaller than we expected and somewhat spartan. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the resort's clubhouse. Once we checking in with the hostess, we were asked to wait for a representative to come down in the elevator and escort us upstairs. A bit unusual, but not necessarily inconvenient. Altogether, a very nice dinner."

  • "Restaurant cancelled our 8:30 pm Saturday night reservations and blamed it on Open Table! The tried to make up for it but we were seated outside the dining room in a empty room. Made the best of it but the food was top notch."

  • "aT $340 for two, this was the most I had ever spent on a dinner with my wife. I ordered a $70 bottle of wine (one of the least expensive and the high point of the meal). Exorbitantly overpriced, zero ambiance, average service and the food was fair at best. I ate a decent amount of bread and still walked away hungry."
