Diner Reviews
  • "Very private and special. You will feel like a celebrity. Expensive but worth every penny. Wines start at $100 but ask the waiter and you might get what we did, an off menu GEM. Totally special attention to you. Even the valet called us by name. The chef is so creative, we just left ourselves in his hands. Waiter was awesome and knowledgeable and not snobby or pushy. No rush either. Even the waiters assistant was awesome. With only 8 tables and behind a tapas bar behind a private door I felt like I had the password to a place only celebrities can go. They ask you if you have any food allergies or anything you don't like. then they tailor the menu to you. a 5 course prix fix. Small tasting courses but you will be full."

  • "My fiancee and I came here for a birthday dinner. The entire experience was exquisite. The server chatted with us a bit to get our likes and dislikes and the chef created a 5 course menu based on that chat! Since we did have some varied interests, we got a few dishes that were completely different between the two of us. And also the wine pairings with each plate were phenomenal and spot on."

  • "I realize Rest. Jezebel is positioned as a high end dining experience. There food quality and service was excellent, but they need to improve on three things; their speed of delivery (too much time between courses, the meal shouldn't last more than two hours. It lasted more than three hours for us), ambience of dining room was not in keeping with a high end restaurant, more interesting decor, higher quality wall treatments and decorations needed, price was $100 too high at $325.00. The invoice said $315, then the credit card statement said $325. I didn't want to argue in front of my date, so I paid it. With tip, bill came to $365.00."

  • "For Austin, this is one of the top restaurants in town. The fixe pris menu, 5 courses, is done very well and the dishes burst with flavor. We went for our anniversary and that was well recognized when we got there. While each course was very flavorful, my criticism is only that the presentation was a bit sloppy. The chefs tried to do a lot on the plate, but having eaten a number of Michelin star restaurants, we've seen the best, and this was not quite there. The main reason for knocking off a star though was the service. Overall, good. However our main waiter was stffnecked and not overly pleasant. Not mean, just not very personable which was a distraction. Still one of the tops in Austin, and good for a romantic dinner."

  • "While I'm not a huge foodie guy, I thought this would be special for our anniversary celebration. This restaurant exceeded my expectations from the moment we turned our keys over to the valet. Only eight tables, this is personal dinning at its very best. It was a fixed 5 course menu which the Chef designs for you based on what you tell the server regarding your likes and dislikes. The one waiter was excellent; very professional and yet friendly enough to set us at ease. I have eaten at 5 star restaurants in Europe, and this experience was very comparable. I cannot believe that this gem is located in Austin. Bring your platinum card, it is expensive but well worth the exceptional dining experience."

  • "We had a fabulous dinner with great, friendly service. We loved the surprises as each course was placed in front of us. Very innovative and attractive courses. There were 4 of us and because one was pregnant and some had different preferences, not everyone had the same courses."

  • "Impeccable food, but above all an amazing dining experience. Every person on the waitstaff did a superior job. A beautiful restaurant with interesting, delicious food. I would eat here again in a heartbeat!"

  • "Just sit down, enjoy the service and be surprised by the culinary talent of the chef owner. Each meal is tailored made to YOU. You will not know what is the next course meal but you will be truly pleased to know they are all excellence. It's an amazing food experience dining in this restaurant. Best guest service ever had. Best cheese stuffed quail, foie gras and pineapple upside down cake deconstruct I ever had! "

  • "We have traveled Globally and have experienced cuisine from many places. To find this in our backyard, was a lovely gem of a find. Approach this as a 'food experience', never as a meal! It was wonderful to not know what we would be eating, and we did the wine pairing which was spot on! Treat yourself to excellence and make reservations!"

  • "at first was cautious walking thru a bar until we brought back to a room with eight table.staff was great and really well versed explained every course in detail menu was designed for individual chef was just down right great. pork belly was my favorite. "

  • "We have dinned in many Michelin Star Restaurants around the globe. We were expecting much more than what was delivered. As International members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, we know fine dinning, and well... This experience was a faux one. There is no menu per se, the maitre D will inquire about tastes and dislikes Quite a few things were just not up to standard of an establishment claiming haute cuisine. Super salty lobster bisque.. greasy vegetables. Fois Gras drizzled with some indiscernible sauce. The pastry chef has rock solid skills, as our palates rejoiced with the two desserts that were presented after and the petits fours were simply formidable."

  • "For our anniversary we booked an evening in the private dining section of Jezebel. Set aside a substantial amount of time to fully enjoy the experience, as each meal is custom designed to suit your preferences. The cocktail service is high quality, while the wine list is extensive and Dubai level expensive. Expect dinner for two to be in the $300-500 range depending upon cocktails and your wine choice. We enjoyed the foie gras and scallops, though they will make just about anything desired. The service is without par in Austin, and as such be prepared to pay for the privilege. This is an experience to dine here, not just a table reservation."

  • "The food was excellent, highlighted by the foie gras, which was seared nicely and rich and creamy on the inside, and the filet mignon, which was a perfect succulent medium rare. The fish dish was forgettable, but neither of us is fond of escolar. The sides were very good, including fried strips of horseradish, Jeruselum artichokes, and a dollop of lobster bisque. The desserts were amazing, with both an apple crisp with a bourbon/caramel sauce and a homemade ice cream sandwich. Then they brought a cart with ten more pastries and let us pick what we wanted. The salted brittle was extraordinary. Finally they presented each of us with a wrapped piece of coffe cake to take for the next morning. The service was well synchronized and attentive."

  • "We ate at Restaurant Jezebel to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. I received a confirmation call that afternoon. However, things were off as soon as we arrived. The hostesses couldn't seem to find our reservation as we sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes. There was no mention of the delay once we were seated. Then came the strange nearly inaudible conversations with the wait staff even as we would ask them to speak up. I wouldn't describe the dishes as "unique to our palette". Instead it appears the chef probably has 7 or 8 dishes in mind and delivers you 5 based on your brief conversation with your waiter. None of the dishes left us wanting more. The wine was good but took 20 minutes despite sitting next to the wine closet."

  • "Amazing, we all were so impressed with every aspect, from greeting, to cocktails, to wine, and the food was extraordinary! If you have a desire for the worlds best right here in Austin this is it. No other restaurant globally beats it, some a re equals, Monterey Highlands Inn, French Laundry, and others and this is right in that mix."

  • "I took my girlfriend for her birthday celebration, and we were very impressed. With no set menu, the chef cooks improvised dishes on the fly based on input from the diners. He then presents the dish along with his choice of wine to pair. We found the food and service equally impressive."

  • "Plan to spend some time when you eat at Jezebel, our dinner was 3+ hours and it wonderful! The service was impeccable, the food was amazing from start to finish, and the attention to detail is unmatched in the Austin restaurant scene. Heck, even the valet left waters in our car for the drive home. It is very fun not to know what is coming, since you don't order from a menu. The meal is prepared from a discussion regarding food likes and any dietary restrictions. Everything served was outstanding. I highly recommend Restaurant Jezebel for a special night out."

  • "The folks at Restaurant Jezebel really outdid themselves, they provided an amazing dining experience for me and my girlfriend. I've never, ever received this level of attention, from the call to confirm our reservation, to the valet service to the staff at the restaurant it well exceeded my expectations. Food was great, honestly I had never dined at this level and was worried that little plates would leave me hungry but I left there stuffed and happy, the place was very romantic and intimate, perfect to propose to my girlfriend who is very shy, Jezebel provided us just the right amount of intimacy and I can't say enough, highly recommended for any special occasion you will not regret it."

  • "The only restaurant in Austin that could be considered worthy of being compared to those in cities such as New York, London and Paris. The food is so different from anything else found in this city, and the service is truly the best. We are ready to go back and have another phenomenal experience."

  • "Went on Valentines day, when they doubled their price to $200/person. I've spent less money on 3-Michelin starred restaurants, so unfortunately I don't feel that this place was a good choice at this price. Even at $100/person, I probably wouldn't go back, as there are other great options in Austin for about the same price or less. We also decided midway through the meal that we didn't like the "no menu" aspect of the restaurant, as we would've chosen different items having listened in on what other tables were served. Service was great sometimes, and lacking other times. My wine glass sat empty for quite long periods throughout the dinner. They don't have refined polish of top notch restaurants they seek to emulate."

  • "A level of dining unequaled in Austin. Kitchen produces foo with wonderfully complex tastes that are beautifully plated. Service is quiet but ever present-gracious and choreographed like a ballet. Plan to spend 2-3 hours of being indulged by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Be advised that this is a very expensive dining experience but worth every penny. My only criticism is that the wine list is outrageously expensive. The low end starts at the $90+ level with only a few bottles offered in this range. The mid range is in the $200-500 range with many bottles offered above that. Our bill for a party of three with a moderate bottle of wine, with tip, was $700.00. Obviously a very special occasion place."

  • "Restaurant Jezebel definitely surpassed our expectations in regard to the food, presentation and service. They also were very kind to make my girlfriend's birthday a special one with a yummy chocolate mousse to take home. The dinner overall was romantic and fun. Would recommend the "wine pairings" with each course. The art was cool too."

  • "I picked this restaurant out of all the other romantic restaurants due to the fact that we would have no menus and a chef to create our meals. I wanted this dinner to be extra special since my boyfriend and I were celebrating our 2 yr anniversary. From the moment we stepped out of our car, the staff made us feel very welcomed. Everything, and I mean everything was absolutely perfect. The food, the decor, the wine, the waitstaff. We loved every single moment being there, and we will definitely come back. We will also refer our friends to this beautiful restaurant."

  • "My fiance and I went here for our anniversary dinner, and will definitely make it an annual event. The waiter asks if you have any aversions to a list of things, any dietary restrictions, and any things you really like. I had also told them earlier in the day when they called to confirm the reservation that I was gluten-free, so they had gluten-free bread ready, which was a nice touch. From then on, it was just sitting back and enjoying one flavorful, inventive, and perfectly placed dish after another. The chef even wanted one particular dish to be served perfectly, with the perfect wine, so they poured us a glass of the appropriate wine even though we ordered a bottle instead of the pairings. The entire experience was perfect."

  • "Wife's birthday dinner was a resounding success. She is a foodie at heart and the chef did not disappoint. It was also one of the most romantic dining experiences we've ever had. The noise level was also just right. Quiet enough to where you can whisper to one another, but noisy enough so that you couldn't hear your neighbors conversation. The service was above and beyond. And the wine pairings...oh my lord the wine pairings. Everyone of them were spot on. We could eat here once a week and be happy for the rest of our lives. We'd be broke, but it'd be worth it."

  • "My husband & I visited Austin for our 15th anniversary & dined at Jezebels to celebrate. What an amazing experience! When you arrive, the valet escorts you to the maître d who escorts you through another restaurant to the secret private hidden restaurant in back. The server interviews you to learn your likes & dislikes & the chefs create a special five-course menu designed just for you. The service was perfect & the food was amazing! They gave us a special anniversary dessert to take with us & little coffee cakes to take for the next morning. After dinner we were escorted back to our car & there were bottles of water in the car for us! The impeccable service & attention to detail made the whole evening a special night to remember."

  • "From start to finish, I was so impressed with the level of individual service and the quality of food we received. We were asked that foods we preferred or had aversions to, and our courses were prepared based on our answers. The food quality was excellent. The attention to detail from the staff was unparalleled. Each course was just as good as the one before. The dessert was so rich, and just the right amount. The servers escorted us to our car at the end of the evening and there were even two bottles of water in the cup holders waiting for us. Talk about a nice touch! Our tab was about half a car payment, but worth every penny. I will definitely be back and recommend to everyone!"

  • "Great evening of dinning, not quite NY however. Service was excellent, but missing better restaurant polish. Wine list was amazing but needs a lower range of wine prices. All choices were $150-$600 and higher. I've dined at all 5star restaurants in NYC and they have a few under $100. OK treat for Austin."

  • "We enjoyed the inventive couses and flavors but not the service. One server took our napkins (after we were to cleanse our hands in a bowl of warm lemon water) but never brought the promised fresh pair until we asked for them. We also had to ask for silverware for the first course! A waitress took away my husband's wine glass when we still had wine left in the caraffe; he had to ask for it back. We were never asked about coffee or tea with dessert, but other guests had coffee with theirs. The sommelier was professional but the wine list should have more than 2 wines under $100! We were warned it would be a long dinner: up to 3 hours. But 4 hours? For $100/person and $100+ wine, the experience should have been more pleasant--and shorter."

  • "Be prepared to spend 3hrs for perhaps the best personalized dining experience in Austin. It's $$$$ but worth every penny. Save it for that very special occasion. You won't be sorry. Check their web site first to make sure it is the right fit for you. It may not be for everyone depending on your tastes."
