Fourteen Seventy-Two opened its doors on September 13th 2012 and offers a creative take on lowcountry dining. Our restoration of the 126 year old building, which includes a rooftop and lower patio overlooking Pearl Street, lends towards a very unique and comforting dining experience. Our staff is extremely welcoming and strives to provide the highest level of hospitality to our guests.Continued

  • "Love New Orleans and the food, now 1472 brings the best to Colorado. 1472 bills itself as "low country" style food. Whatever. It's awesome. Tuna ceviche, corn & crab appetizers are delicious. Smoked chipotle boar ribs are incredibly tender, venison/lamb meatloaf is amazing, salmon with grits and the shrimp dishes are delicious. Friends have raved about the weekend brunch. The only down sides- no bar. They don't have a real bar. They need one, badly. And the service is slow. Glaciers move faster than these folks do. The kitchen is small, contributing to the agonizingly slow service, but the waitstaff need to communicate what's going on with your meal and take orders faster. Skip Lucille's, go to 1472 instead. Better food, nicer people."

  • "We dined at 1472 because we had heard good things from a neighbor, so we decided to give it a whirl during restaurant week. (The fact that it was empty and last-minute reservations available should have been our first clue to avoid it.) Not only was the $60 meal for two not worth the price, but the prix fixe menu (which I understand was available for an entire month) was disappointing, flat and just plain ordinary. The funnel cake dessert had hard-as-a-rock pastries (almost like it was fried twice or fried into oblivion), the appetizer and soups were heavy and lackluster, and the entrees we had (fish and steak) seasonless and ordinary. It's a shame because we were hoping it would be another gem in the South Platte/Pearl collection."

  • "The food was pretty good; the seafood turned out better than the comfort food. The chicken and waffle dish wasn't great; well the waffle was delicious, the roast chicken instead of fried was bland. The blackened catfish was good, but it was drowned in a cream sauce. Overall, the restaurant was nice, if a bit dark. A little hard to find the entrance. The staff was amicable, and our waiter was quite knowledgeable. We'll try it again sometime..."

  • "Disappointed. We came for restaurant week. The appetizers were bland, the soups unremarkable, the salad was good but, slightly over dressed. Chicken and Waffles is their specialty, it was served lukewarm."

  • "Fourteen Seventy-Two is a perfect example of Denver fine dining. For appetizers, wine, entree, and dessert we payed $50/person (drop the appetizer, dessert, and go with one of their gourmet sandwiches and your bill will be much smaller than that). The food was worth the price. Chicken & Waffles were to die for, and the Mahi Mahi with goat cheese grits was total yums. The restaurant is well-decorated and cozy. We were there in the winter so the patio was closed off, but we are definitely coming back in the spring because the patio setup looks like one of the best in Denver. Service was perfect. Our waiter was a gentleman; he was knowledgeable about the menu and friendly without being intrusive. I can't wait to go back."

  • "The mussels at 1472 used to be amazing. They used to have an amazing broth and served with delicious hot, french bread. My most recent visit left me highly disappointed; the broth was overpowered with lemon, and there was no hint of the andouille sausage which used to make it so fabulous. The crusty piece of chiabatta was a disappointing substitute for the piping hot french bread. I have had few great meals at 1472, I desperately want to like this restaurant. The vibe is refreshing and the patio is amazing. The decline in food and service is making my continued affection very difficult."

  • "We went here for Valentine's Day because we wanted to try a new restaurant and the menu looked fun. Everything we had here we thought was "just okay"...no notable flavors or anything exciting. I go out to eat because I like to have things I wouldn't be able to create at home. I feel like my husband and I make better tasting food at home. We started with tuna tar tar and conch chowder - both meh. I had the mahi mahi and it was cooked well, but flavor of sauce was really unremarkable. My husband had steak sandwhich and he was having a hard time chewing it....we skipped dessert which I never do and opted for a cappuccino next door. Service was decent although our server smelled like cigarette smoke which is kind of gross."

  • "My husband and I went in for his birthday and we had a wonderful evening. Jordan was our server and he is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent. We are looking forward to our next visit."

  • "The food value was good considering the price and large portions. The carrot cake dessert was very good. We were there on a Saturday around 7pm. The restaurant was less than 1/2 full. Unfortunately our experience was overshadowed by a table of 8 woman that were extremely loud and distracting. In retrospect we should have requested to be moved."

  • "This was our fifth or sixth visit. There are things we like very much about this restaurant, and things that continue to baffle us. Some dishes are exquisite (the mahi mahi was fabulous) and others that fail to meet expectations. The "wild boar short ribs" were so spicey that neither of us could eat our fill -- and we LIKE spicey food. Our favorite dish, the lamb chope, have disappeared from the menu, which is a real loss. Over all this place seems to have an identity problem, showing tons of potential but not quite sure whether it wants to be a New Orleans style bistro or something else. There is clearly promise here, but the place hasn't fully arrived yet."

  • "Fourteen Seventy Two provides comfortable tables spaced for privacy. The space feels warm and friendly. The music is great. I enjoy sitting and sipping my drink and coffee. Once our space was invaded by a large group that was rowdy and insisted on opening the doors to the outside in the middle of November. The restaurant provided no supervision. We finished up as quickly as possible. I try to go early, mid,week to avoid a reoccurrence."

  • "As an out-of-towner, I am not familiar with many Denver area restaurants, so was pleased to find this distinctive listing specializing in Low Country cuisine. Our party of three enjoyed the she crab soup, the beignets, the scallops, the shrimp and grits and the ribs. Both the house and bottled wines were a great fit to our dining choices. Our server was very knowledgable regarding the menu and very attentive throughout the meal. Wish we had this restaurant in New York City!!"

  • "There were six in our group and everyone thoroughly enjoyed everything they ordered. The shecrab soup was outstanding. However, I do have an issue with the shrimp and grits entree. The grits were dry and stiff and should have been smooth and creamy. I've spent a lot of time in Savannah and have eaten a lot of shrimp and grits and while the dish last night tasted as good as the best, the consistency really missed the mark. Having said that, I'll be recommending this restaurant to my friends."

  • "This was a last minute call to try and what a great decision it was. The dining room was quiet for a Saturday evening except for one large noisy party. The waitress did a good job of warning us and offering us other seating options if that would bother us. The menu had many options that looked interested and not the standard menu items. I had the Mahi Mahi with goat cheese grits and a side of sweet potatoes. The Mahi/grits was the most delicious meal I have eaten all year! The side of sweet potatoes was very good too but the grits were the star side dish. The portion was substantial but not oversized, great balance of entrée and side. I look forward to returning and trying some of the other items on the menu."

  • "we had the crab beignets, and they were very tasty with a lovely sauce. The chicken and waffles came with savory maple gravy sauce and the steak was fantastic. The wild boar smoked ribs were succulent and juicy and the scallops on the crab cakes for a delicious. The drinks were all very tasty and the service was great. Th atmosphere was nice and really chill. Dinner took a while, but with good friends and great mojitos, it was fantastic. We will be back!"

  • "The service is warm, friendly and efficient. The chef came by the table to ask if we enjoyed our meal and thanked us for coming. This is comfort food elevated. The crab and corn fritters were yummy, the salmon with crawfish sauce is has wonderful layers of flavor, but the Key Lime Pie alone is worth the visit! I can't wait to go back."

  • "Heard good things about restaurant. Went on a Wednesday night. Had ribs and barley salad. Both were delicious. Service was not good. When I spilled my beer, server said he would clean up, never did. Asked for no cheese on salad, got cheese on my salad."

  • "This is a neighborhood area that locals know and it is quite pleasant to stroll Pearl Street. Take a few minutes to stroll and look for the cats in the window at the vets. The restaurant is very pleasant, a comfortable social atmosphere. the food is a wide variety including a large amount of low country southern dishes that were well prepared. The service staff was friendly, the maitre'd was sort of absent. Overall, it was worth the trip and i would go back."

  • "Loved the space of this place. Open and airy. Food was good. My friend said the sweet potatoes that came with the scallops were the best she has ever had. I liked the seafood salad better with the cilantro dressing than the Tasso one it came with. Mojito's are very good. Service was a lot better than the reviews I had read so I was very happy about that. I would come back to try more dishes, maybe brunch too"
