Diner Reviews
  • "We had the tasting menu (actually, there's a choice of two, with replacement options against a fee), which contained an excellent foie gras, a fish course that needed a bit more flavor, a very nicely done veal (although, personally, I am not a friend of sweet bread), and adessert course, which also could have been more nuanced. By and large, however, Eugene deserves at a minimum one Michelin star, and with some effort a second. However, apparently Michelin doesn't rate restaurants in Atlanta."

  • "Well executed tasting menu, with a knowledgeable and gracious service team headed by Todd. Well sized portions, small surprises, and a wine program with depth and variety. Bread service, a pleasant idea, could be improved upon with greater range and textures. Rational price points for this level of service and food quality."

  • "Restaurant Eugene blew me away. 100% amazing. The food was exquisite, and the free little dishes from the chef were fabulous. Everything - and I mean everything- was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Not to mention, the presentations were worthy of being in the High Museum. Personally, dessert was my favorite (of course). It was delicate and sweet, but savory at the same time. I could have that dessert everyday for the rest of my life. However, what really stole the show was the service. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Every restaurant needs to have a staff like them. Honestly, that was the best service I have ever gotten anywhere. They didn't just treat us like guest, they treated us like friends. 5 stars hands down."

  • "Friendly and helpful staff, Pappy Van Winkle not on the list was spotted on the shelf and they happily obliged. The food was excellent and the courses were well timed. Very enjoyable experience. I will definitely keep on an eye on the menu and dine again as it changes."

  • "Each dish was wonderful, very well thought out and executed and presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our special night out with the family. Thank you Restaurant Eugene! Excellent job."

  • "The duck is amazing. The trout tartare is very good. The snapper is good, but bland. Breads are well done. The service is GREAT! The servers are funny and engaged. The price is excellent for the experience."

  • "I was not prepared for the exquisite dining experience at Resaurant Eugene! The staff were all very friendly and customer-centric paying attention to any and all of our needs. The appetizers were unique and delicious (Snapper tartare and Field greens salad which was unlike any field greens salad that I've ever had - it was a work of art, both to the eye and the tastebuds!) Both entrees were prepared with care and perfection. The meal also was accompanied by 'before, during, and after' treats as well as bread courses. This is a special occasion restaurant and is priced accordingly, but not inappropriately. We left very happy and satisfied with our meal."

  • "main reason is about how my expectation of the place based on so many great reviews and friend comments I was expecting a very different dining experience. Yes the food and presentation is ok but wasn't of my taste with too much sweetness and not enough savors, the service was too present and overwhelming. I think that overhaul it wasn't worth the $450.00 I spent that night. I had better experience and meals in many others Atlantans landmark. I really wish I could be more upbeat about them but I just can't recommend it."

  • "Wonderful food, service, ambiance. Absolutely the finest rstaurant in Atlanta."

  • "Juan, Justin, and Josh were awesome! The food was spectacular and beautifully presented! Our friend was with us who is vegetarian and lactose intolerant and the presentation and taste of her food was just as amazing as ours."

  • "I have dined at Restaurant Eugene a number of times and this visit was disappointing. Our service was strangely paced. For ex., prior to receiving our cocktails, gougeres and then pimento cheese macarons were brought to the table and we felt rushed. Later we felt almost forgotten by our server. The menu can be confusing. During our visit, diners were offered two tasting menus, and either could be five, six or seven courses--the "extra" courses were identified by whether the menu text was italicized or not. There were three brief columns of options for ordering, with starters on the left and mains on the right, although the columns are not titled. The food, while good, was not great this time. I won't be returning anytime soon."

  • "We had the most amazing experience for my birthday. The staff treats every table like it is the most important table in the room. So accommodating, so delicious, so amazing. Pricey - for sure - but perfect for a special occasion!"

  • "Every visit to Atlanta always includes a visit to Restaurant Eugene! A top notch restaurant with wonderful service and incredible food. Deserving of Michelin stars!"

  • "The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable. The menu changes almost every night, and the attendant knew about every item. I was blown away by their courtesy and knowledge. Wonderful evening for our anniversary."

  • "Service was very good. The chef is known for his farmer's market, farm to table fare, etc. I found that in our 5 or 6 course tasting menu, the vegetables were the star, seafood was very good, and meat (specifically the veal dish) was not good at all. Desserts are also below average. Next time, though I'm not a vegetarian, I would go for the vegetable tasting menu. It is worth going once to experience and form your own opinion."

  • "Outstanding dinner, really enjoyed the 5 course dinner with wine pairings. Probably the best restaurant experience I have had to date in Atlanta, on par with Michelin starred restaurants in New York or London"

  • "Mixology out of control; 10 minutes to prepare a simple whiskey drink. We were sat promptly at our reservation time, then waited over an hour for our first morsel of food... a small, round dough ball. The fresh greens salad tried way too hard -- at times I couldn't begin to guess or understand the flavors of some of the items (they referred to these unknowns as "buried little treasures") -- though I was VERY hungry by the time the salad arrived, I could only finish half -- my palate must be unsophisticated. The veal was horribly fatty and portion far too small. The waiter forgot my glass of wine with my meal, but I let it go for fear we'd be waiting another 30 minutes. We left as quickly as was practical without appearing too rude."

  • "Our dinner for two early on a Tuesday (birthday) evening was relaxing, delicious and simply the nicest of dining experiences. Dining at Restaurant Eugene is an experience that is much more than "just" dinner, although the food was excellent. If you're looking all the ingredients that make a dinner special, this would be a great place to try."

  • "Very disappointing. I Have food allergies. The ensured me that I could eat the prefix. At first, they were very accommodating but as the meal progressed they seemed to forget and made me feel very much like an after thought. For a $95 plate I think I should get the respect of all diners or at the least tell me you can't accommodate my allergies (I would have been happy to order off the regular menu)"

  • "We visit Restaurant Eugene for our anniversary. They gave us a great table, it had a nice view of the restaurant but offered privacy and quiet, and a glass of champagne to toast. We both got the chef's tasting menu, and I had the wine pairings. Both the food and the wine were exceptional. Beautiful presentation, creative and delicious food, and great service. I gave 4 stars for Service, rather than 5, because the service wasn't quite perfect - for instance, we missed one of the bread courses and the wine wasn't always timed perfectly with the food. However, everyone was incredibly friendly and conscientious. I highly recommend Restaurant Eugene."

  • "On special occasions when living in NYC I would take my wife to Le Bernadine and I found this jewel to compliment my wife's palate . Fabulous food and service and atmosphere is pleasant enough. Thank you for a memorable meal."

  • "Went on a Saturday night and ended up with the Valentine's tasting menu, not sure if there was a premium for that over the standard ($125). We did the tasting menu and some of the dishes were truly spectacular (Oyster Mushroom 1st course, Jerusalem Artichoke Puree 2nd were two of the better things I've had in the past year), some of the dishes were good, but a decent number were just okay, and not that thoughtful. The gifts from chef were also a mixed bag ranging from okay to good, but nothing too special. The ambiance was also a bit too pretentious for my taste. Bacchanalia at $85 I think is a much better value with more consistency (mix of fantastic and great dishes with maybe one that was just okay), and a more pleasant atmosphere."

  • "Restaurant Eugene has a reputation for being among the best. The food is certainly very good, but the wait staff is pretentious and the prices are substantial. It is disappointing when one has to ask for another small brioche or other bread. We were told that the practice is to offer a bread flight with every other course. That might work the multicourse tasting menu, but it doesn't work for someone who only had an appetizer and a main course. The slice of pate (it looked more like salami) with the pheasant was not much to my wife's liking. For these prices and this reputation everything should be pretty close to perfect. It wasn't. Diners should expect more for over $300 (for two) with a low to moderately priced wine and no cocktails."

  • "We dined on Super Bowl night, along with three other couples in the restaurant. If you can handle the tariff, this place will definitely make you feel like one of the 1%. My friend and I both ordered the meat/fish oriented tasting menu. Five courses plus amuse bouche treats between every course. The fish, pork and cheese courses were accompanied by vegetables, broths, pickles, etc., all of which added up to astonishing tastes. By the end of the two hour meal, we were sated, but not stuffed. This is an experience for a special occasion and not for everyone. The menu and the server's detailed description of every dish can be tiresome in places. But it all adds up to a four or five star dining experience."

  • "I took my foodie girlfriend to Eugene for her birthday, and it lived up to its reputation. We did the Tasting Menu with the wine pairings, and the food was unquestionably amazing. The wine pairings were also definitively excellent – and made exponentially better by the descriptions and background provided by the server. Which brings up the other point: the service was flat out amazing. Treated like royalty, attentively tended to at every step, and informed of the reasons and details behind the food and wine we were being served. I highly appreciated their skill, both in people skills and in knowledge of their product. Be warned – the Tasting Menu is expensive, and with the wine pairings is 75% moreso."

  • "My wife and I ordered the tasting menu-she the vegetarian version and I the conventional version. We both chose the wine pairings and found both the food and the wine to be very creative and very tasty. The portions were appropriately modest but we were more than full at the end of our meal. It reminded us of some of the great meals we have enjoyed in France. We will definitely return and brings friends to share this fine restaurant with them."

  • "...of its game. The meal is always creative using locally sourced and seasonal foods. The little delicacies that they serve along with the meal are incredibly wonderful gems that just elevate the already outstanding food. For example, a small cup of soap with just a hint of citrus was perfect for a cold evening. The sourdough bread has a wonderful sharp bite and beautiful crisp crust, the closest I've found to true San Francisco bread. The service is as flawless and professional as any I've experienced. Granted, the meal is definitely on the $$$$ side of things but worth every penny. This is my "go to" place fort the best meal in Atlanta."

  • "Great dinner. My son enjoyed a $38.00 red snapper- there is nothing else for children on the menu. It is very pricey and menu a bit complicated. My entrée was delicious though.."
    Dined on 1/19/2014
  • "The food was good except for my main entree of red snapper. The appetizer of blue crab cakes were out of the world, 1st time I had it with no breadcrumbs and every bite I tasted the scrumptious crab. So thinking that they specialize in fish, I chose the snapper which was very disappointing as it was thin and dry with no taste which I should have sent it back but I did let the waiter know. Everything else was superb including my husband had the phaesant. An area they can improve is the amount of glass wine offered which there wasn't much of a choice compared the the extensive wine bottle list. But other than that, everything else was superb."
