The service was impeccable. The food was amazing! The staff talked alot about the chef and it now makes sense. Chef has it going on! The Greens Salad was probably one of the best salads I've ever had. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and extremely tasteful. The meal was a bit pricey though. The biggest disappointment was the lack of a moderately priced wine selection. Although the various servers knew their stuff, it seemed that some of the stiffness comes from an necessary formality and not as much passion for the food. I highly recommend the tasting menu as it'll give you more opportunity to taste the brilliant combinations of flavours that Chef Linton puts together. Not only that, we've typically been sent additional "gifts" from the kitchen, adding to the number of courses to savour. If you haven't done a wine pairing before, it's a great way to explore the interplay between food and wine and it really rounds out the whole experience.
Service was also top notch and the staff dealt beautifully with my mistake regarding the time of our reservation. Veal with sweetbreads paired w chianti had a broth which we mopped up with fresh artisan bread. Our server, Robert was knowledgable and attentive. An excellent evening! Enjoy.

Each of us had the red snapper and while it was cooked perfectly, it lacked flavor. The assorted vegetable entree was only adequate and overpriced.
The triple chocolate was minuscule and also overpriced. On this evening Chef Hopkins did not live up to his James Beard award.

We did the tasting menu but needed to make a couple of substitutions due to food allergies and this was taken care of without any difficulty. The wine pairings were some of the best we have ever had in terms of the wines truly complementing the foods and extending their flavors.

I'm so glad we chose Eugene. Everything was perfect, from the phone call altering a reservation from four to five people, to the person who took us to our table, all wait staff and bus people.
Our waiter was especially good. Excellent descriptions and recommendations. Food was top notch.
The restaurant was full, but due to very careful planning on their part, the walls are covered with soft surfaces to absorb noise (something most restaurants don't bother with)so the noise level was quite low.

Entrees are $40 and wine starts at $70. The food is excellent and the service is too. I can recommend the duck and the swordfish. The fish is particularly different because it's wrapped in coriander. Sounds odd, but it worked. The staff isn't snobby and are very considerate. The wine we ordered turned out not to be very good although it is a highly rated wine--just not a good bottle I guess (it may have needed more aging). We are glad we went, but at those prices we won't back very soon.

When Restaurant Eugene is "on" it offers a fantastic dining experience. After a couple of disappointing dinners there I returned, hoping for the old magic and I got it. The service was great--our server knew the menu inside and out. The delicious breads and butter were lovely. My guest and I enjoyed our food very much, especially the adventurous desserts. My one criticism was the tasting of winter vegetables. Since I am a vegetarian, I usually get this and the selection this time was not as good as in the past. The cauliflower in particular was burned.
