Restaurant Eugene has been a winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2005.   • "Eugene has a big rep so we were very interested in trying it. While I can say I was glad that we did I personally did not find it over-the-top. The food was beautiful looking without question. However, I found everything overly salted. Significantly so in fact. While the staff was kind, knowledgeable and gracious, unlike the food, they were over-the-top. They had that 'hovering' quality that made our dinner party of two feel like a dinner party of six. So while I do appreciate attentive service (and it certainly beats the 'vanishing' waiter routine) I think, overall, it needs to be toned back a bit."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary and my birthday. This is a special dinning experience.The small restaurant with dimmed lights, and impeccable food and service is truly unique. There is not a big menu and choices are limited. But it always good. You can also go all vegetables. Wine selection is great. While you will pay more to eat here, the expeience alone is worth the price. This a very romantice place and you do not want to be in a rush as your dinner will be stretched out for you to enjoy the evening. We arrived at 7:15PM and left at 10:00PM. Reservations suggested. (Watch them iron the table cloths when they changeout a table). We eat here 3-4 times a year when visiting Atlanta and have never been disappointed."

  • "I have been to this restaurant several times, and I intend to return more often. I had the vegetable plate, which is an excellent example of food from local farms expertly prepared and served. I especially liked the greens and succotash. The person I dined with thought the grouper with cabbage was excellent. The service was very helpful. This is really an exceptional restaurant."

  • "Have been to many good restaurants in the US, include some are 3 michelin stars. The service in Restaurant Eugene is same level as those restaurants. Even though food was not the best I have ever had but still one of the top three in Atlanta in my opinion. Every courses was presented beautifully. Seasoning is on the lighter side, had to put a little bit of fleur del sel for some dishes to my taste. We got free champagne to start because we were celebrating 7th year anniversary, we even got a card plus a small cake at the end. All the little touch made us so satisfying. Highly recommend for celebrating special occasions. Thanks our server Clark for wonderful service and gave us the menu with all kitchen staffs' signatures. Very cool gift!"

Restaurant Eugene isn't very big but it is fantastic. The maitre'd / sommelier Juan has a true passion for his craft and is SO knowledgeable. I had the Chef's menu customized as I'm pescetarian and everything was flawless. I would 100% return."

  • "I recently had the pleasure of dining at R/E and it did not disappoint! My guest and I both selected the tasting menus along with some supplemental courses. All were small plates which is a good thing when you are enjoying 6 courses along with another 4-5 amuse-bouche and 3 bread courses. It's no wonder dinner took 3 hours! We paired these dishes with an assortment of cocktails and wines including some specials available using the Coravin system. The food was outstanding and our excellent captain/assistant sommelier Todd Hayes made our selections of it and drink an effortless and delicious affair. I highly recommend R/E and Todd."

I highly recommend trying both the vegetable tasting and chef's tasting in order to sample a larger variety and Restaurant Eugene truly highlights vegetables to their fullest potential. The raw oysters were small and tasty but a little overpowered by the greens that were served on top. Sweetbread was excellent. Rabbit entree was dry.   • "This reservation was to celebrate a birthday. We had asked for a good table. We arrived early and wish we had been given the choice to wait for a booth. We sat in an area to wait for our table. No one asked us if we wanted a drink. We were seated at a table. Our waiter arrived in five minutes and was very robotic. Not warm at all. We had many different servers come to our table and some of them were friendly. Our waiter was very cold. The small dishes were good but the bread was hard! I requested steak medium well and it definitely came out too well done. We go out often and wanted something special and I don't feel we are very demanding. I felt like we were treated in a snobby manner. No one engaged us in any conversation. "

The wine pairings were flawless. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The Chef's "gifts" were fun and imaginative - especially the slightly poached egg."

  • "Our group had an amazing dinner. All the food was perfect. Our table had lamb, duck and cobia. Cooked to perfection. Great flavors. Watching the bartender was like watching a mad scientist at work, the drinks were very, very good! My only concern happened at the end of the night when my leftover meal was "lost". They took away my plate to box it up and when we were leaving we asked about the box and they said it would be right out.???I had two mid rare pieces of lamb tenderloin and carrots. After 5 minutes they finally brought my box it was very warm and when I looked in the box...it was not my lamb...it was pieces of shredded overcooked lamb shank...no carrots. Sad. I threw it away since I didn't know if it was someone's half eaten meal :("
