The restaurant had a great variety of appetizers that would suit any taste.
The meal was fresh and used locally/regionally grown products. As usual though with high end restaurants, the plate lacked a good amount of vegetables. I ordered the duck that was cooked to perfection at the suggestion of the server but the three gnocchi balls I received were insufficient. My daughter order the blue-cheese encrusted steak that was definitely noteworthy.
The dessert selection was rather dull and unappealing. No standouts.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night outI chose this restaurant as the first of two dinners out on a girl's weekend away. It is a beautiful restaurant and the decor certainly impresses. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable and made excellent recommendations. I would have given the service Five stars but we did wait a long time for our mains. We were enjoying ourselves so it wasn't particularly annoying. The waiter did compensate by offering my girl friend a complimentary glass of wine which he felt suited her meal better than the bottle we had ordered. As well, the manager helped to bring our mains and offered his apologies. The bar area did have one loud group but they depated before our meal was complete. Strong wine list, although it would be great to see a few more choices on the "by the glass" list. Lively York Street location - and easy to catch a cab back to my hotel. Sufficiently attentive service - professional without smothering. Overall a good experience. The waiter was the perfect mixture of knowledgeable, funny (without being too in your face), attentive and more. The food was exceptional (ice cream that tasted like caramel popcorn? yum!) but was also quite filling. Unfortunately, it also left a hole in my wallet. I think it was the most expensive diner I have ever purchased (also due to a 75$ bottle of wine - at the low end of the wine menu). We were very impressed with the appetizer and liked the main dish. Main dish could have been a bit of a smaller portion to leave room for desert but we were very full by then. The servers are fantastic at their job and were very attentive. The food was very well presented. The beef tartar absolutely phenomenal! During our dinner, the GM also greeted and served us our appetizers. Overall the experience was one of the best so far. One of the great restaurants in Ottawa by far!3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great serviceTook my wife to 18 for her birthday on a snowy, Monday evening in late January, so it was relatively quiet.. It was fantastic all around between the service, the quality of the meal, the wine and the nice touch where our waiter brought her a selection of mini-desserts with "Happy Birthday" written out on the plate. This was not planned or expected, though I did happen to drop a hint to the waiter part way through the meal that it was her birthday. We're planning to go back for date night shortly.
