  • "We decided to go with the 5 course chef's choice (everyone at the table must participate), and we're glad we did. Each course had great presentation and most importantly tasted incredible. We started with beef carpaccio, followed by prawns and pasta, lobster, lamb and dessert. We also chose the wine pairing option, which was fun and introduced us to some great wine and a Greek dessert wine we would have never ordered ourselves."

  • "We had reserved a table at the restaurant for a special occasion and we were really glad we chose this location. The menu is very interesting and there are only great options to choose from. We went the blind tasting with wine pairing and were really amazed by the quality of wines and services. There is always a special twist to the meals and they are masters at matching wines that enhance the food. It had been a while since we had such a great experience. We loved the wines so much our waitress prepared a list of the wines we had. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion"

  • "Nothing but superlatives. One of the best dining experiences, and not just the superb food, but the whole experience, you will find in Ottawa. We had the blind five-course tasting with pairing. I don't even wish to spoil it by trying to find suitable words.. Not inexpensive but so well done; quality, quantity, design, localvore, FRESHNESS, attitude and knowledge. The servers and manager appeared to be enjoying it as much as we were as it was unfolding. Highly recommended if not out on a budget or if looking for something quicker before some other activity like a show. This IS your show as well as dinner. Aces. Marco"

  • "we were married at e18ghteen three years ago and come back every year on our anniversary. The exceptional service is what drew us to e18ghteen as a wedding venue and they continue to impress us every year. When we arrived, not only did they remember us and our anniversary, they brought us complimentary champagne in the silver champagne flutes we had accidentally left behind on our wedding night three years ago! Although they have had changes in their chefs in recent years, the food continues to be excellent. I would highly recommend e18gtheen to anyone looking for a special dining experience."

  • "Took my son for his convocation celebration. We ordered the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. Our server explained that the menu is made up on the day - everything was outstanding. Cold crab cake, followed by a beautifully cooked piece of halibut with rhubarb, chili and cucumber sauces for topping and toasted lentils. Then beef carpaccio with shaved parmesan and wonderful wild mushrooms. The main was a perfectly seared duck breast with morels. Dessert was a dark chocolate flourless cake with cashew butter and edible flowers. Service was fantastic, and the wine pairings, both white and red, were perfect. This was among the best meals I have ever eaten, anywhere."

  • "I live in Ottawa and have been to all the "good" ones. There are more and more great finds in Ottawa but e18theen remains one of my favourites - great for special occasions. The service is very attentive (had the same waitress we had the last time we were there - I hope they keep her!)."

  • "We had a 6:30pm reservation and it was well after 10 when we left. The waiter was very attentive but water and bread for the table took forever to come - different person. also asked for more bread, got it after a wait but then no butter! After ordering the meals took a long time to come and with the slow water and bread we were getting 'uncomfortable'. They seemed to have a rule that bread was only brought after the amuse-bouche? That said, the food was very good to excellent - but pricey."

  • "We enjoyed this restaurant overall but my husband was served a rib eye steak full of gristle. It couldn't be cut with a steak knife or chewed. The restaurant took his meal and glass of wine off the bill and since I am a small eater he finished my plate, but it is hard to understand how a restaurant of this calibre could serve meat like that. My filet and my daughter's lamb were perfect."

  • "We ordered the $46 lobster entree, and added some fries - they looked so good! However, we received the fries after we finished eating our lobster. This was really disappointing - given also that we waited a little bit to start eating the lobster thinking the fries would come... I even had to tell my husband to start his plate. We were not going to waste a $46 meal on $8 fries (yes, $8, for French fries... that's another thing...). Fortunately, we were not charged for the fries nor the coffee, but I was very disappointed with that beginner's mistake."

The ambiance is perfect for a dinner for 2. There wasn't much noise, we could carry a conversation. My wife is pregnant and they were able to accommodate to her food restrictions without a problem. "

  • "I don't like small prints. I missed the part that we only add two option Cod and steak ! When we arrive there was new small prints. We had to orders drinks in order to get the deal ( it's 10-14$ on glass or martini) and the HST was not included . What HST not included an other 15$ Still we order our food and it was excellent. For the appetizers the mushrooms consommé was very tasty. My wife had the tomato salad and it was ok !. The Cod was fabulous. Cooked perfectly, it was melting in the mouth. My Angus steak was excellent, cooked perfectly. I would have eaten something else espicially during BBQ season. I cook perfect steak my self. Crème brulée was perfect and the chocolate fudge dessert, was very rich ( not my favorite). Great experien"

  • "We have been at that restaurant a few times, more for special occasion. The food is excellent. The entrees are just perfect and they give you a spoon taste that is always full of taste. The main course is excellent but this time was just too salty, by the last bite the salt was taking over all the good taste. Because of the salt taste in the mouth we did not have dessert. By overall this remain and excellent diner and we will return, but next time will advice; "not to much salt". Excellent restaurant, juste trop de sel, avertir le serveur de dire au cuisiner de pas rajouter de sel. Les entrées sont juste super excellents et le repas super bon (trop salée). "

Ours entailed some delicious char, lamb, seared fois gras, house made pasta, a sorbet and a chocolate based dessert. It was all very good.   • "We went to 18 for a romantic dinner and decided to try the foie gras, oysters and duck. Overall the food was tasty. The duck was quite good (the crust on it was very flavorful). The cocktails could have been a bit better. We ended the meal with a ginger cake with mint ice cream (highly recommended) The ambiance, the waiter's knowledge of the food, and the service really added to our evening."

  • "We chose 18 for our 5 year anniversary and were impressed from start to finish. They gave us each a complimentary glass of champagne to start. The wine list is very extensive, my only complaint about the wine had more to do with the service - and this is just a personal preference - but quite a few times the services walked by when our glasses were empty and did not top them up. The appetizer portions are definitely on the small side, but very delicious - we had the tuna. Main courses were outstanding - we had the strip steak and the cod - both VERY good. Crème brulee for dessert was served with home made chocolates on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. It was the perfect atmosphere for a romantic night out!"

  • "When you are rating a restaurant you want to be sure that you do not become too generous in your praise lest no one believes you. But 18 is one of those that requires an alltogether different scale. The ambiance, food and service were all 5 * . We had the tasting menu and my guest did the wine pairing with it. You could not ask for a better way to test the skills of the kitchen and Chef. They came through with a wide array of dishes and the team that served the table were able to describe each of them in detail. The wine was appropriate to each dish.I might have preferred to have the palate cleanser at a different point in the meal but without doubt it was an evening that my guest and I thoroughly enjoyed."

  • "We were greeted rather coolly by an inexperienced young hostess. The sauces that accompanied the oysters was too salty. The crab cake was so salty that I returned it to the kitchen. We received the wrong bill, with charges almost three times the actual costs. What a disappointing evening at a restaurant that has such a good reputation."

  • "My wife and I visited restaurant 18 for the first time. We wanted to celebrate her birthday and after reading reviews of some of the other restaurants nearby we chose 18 and were glad we did. The ambiance is great due to the fireplace, the background music and especally the white table cloths. The food was great as was the service.   • "18 has a very nice decor and is generally a very nice dining experience -- food quality is excellent and the decor is upscale but we found the service (at least that of the waiter) to be lacking. Although water was served within a minute of sitting down, it took almost 5 minutes for a drink order and it was nearly 15 minutes before the drink was in my hand. The apps were very nicely presented (I had tune, she had mushrooms) and were quite tasty although overly salty for my taste. Again, it was a good 20 minutes after we ordered before the apps appeared and the restaurant was about 75% filled. I had the cod for my main and my partner the Angus rib-eye and these were very good choices -- perfectly cooked and very nicely presented."

  • "We have been to Eighteen numerous times and found our last dining experience to be our least favorite due to the undercooking of a filet mignon not once but TWO times. We were patient but very upset that our daughter was eating by herself eventually and we were awaiting ordering dessert until the kitchen tried to get the meal right for us.. The unfortunate situation was handled by the waiter and manager professionally by not charging us for the filet and by paying for a dessert. We would give Eighteen another chance because of their professionalism and we did enjoy our appetizers and desserts"
