Diner Reviews
  • "This is our go to spot when we want to be assured of a great meal. Never an off night."

  • "If everybody knew how good the food and the service is, I will never be able to get a reservation."

  • "Service somewhat hurried, food quality not impressive, quantity less than generous"

  • "I have eaten at Restaurant Christine numerous times and never been disappointed with my meal. Chef Christine daily menu's are all different and very creative."

  • "This is a cute little restaurant but it seems really expensive for just a little neighborhood spot. The cob salad for lunch was good and the warm lobster salad was nice but expensive. Good thing I went there on expense account, I probably will not return on my own dime."

  • "We recently discovered Christine's and just shared our find with friends. The pork chop I had on our first visit was wonderful, tasty and juicy. The prosciutto wrapped filet medallions I had our second visit was a bit disappointing. The steak has a sauce that seemed pointless and made me wonder why it was there. The filet was tender, but more medium and not medium rare. My dining partners enjoyed their meals and had no complaints, a seafood combo special and a salmon dish. Our recent visit was on a Saturday night, the restaurant was very full which may explain the following. The service was acceptable, but not inspiring. The waitress seemed distracted and not entirely attentive. The noise level was loud, making conversation difficult."

  • "This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! I love their thematic lunches each day. No matter what one orders, everything is marvelous."

  • "I really like the restaurant. They were a little busier than usual and the service was slower than usual. Food is always excellent."

  • "The lamb chops (I think they were an item on the special, not regular, dinner menu) were outstanding. We drank 3 bottles of wine with the $10 each corkage I thought was very reasonable. Others had the Kobi beef burger which was overdone and not so great. Same for the pork chop which Christine's claims to be known for as it was just mediocre. Salad was very good. Not a noisy place, so that is a plus. Would definitely revisit."

  • "While the ambiance is a little tired and could use some updating, the food was simply superb. Service was quite good too. The prices are moderately expensive, but fair for the quality. Highly recommend for foodies."

  • "We went there for Valentine's Day (night) dinner - we were seated quickly and the service proceeded perfectly! Great ambiance! The duck confit appetizer was incredible! We kidded that we wanted to cancel the entree and get four more! Our entrees were excellent and portion sizes just right. My cheese platter for desset was amazing. The recommended "Treana" red wine was a stunningly good pick for us. We both enjoyed our entire romantic dinner. FIVE STARS! We now have a new "favorite restaurant!" Ray and Donna"

  • "The food was excellent, service could be improved. There was a feeling of being rushed a bit."

  • "This restaurant has special days for each weekday. I went on Taco Tuesday. The Mexican special taco for the day was fabulous. The blend of flavors is perfect. I love the red cabbage in the tacos also. It s fabulous having ruff age accompanying the tacos. Service is always fabulous."

  • "The portions are so generous - thus the title so lunch today becomes lunch manana as well. Our 87 year old (& only 80 lb.) Aunt visiting from AZ ate an entire ahi sandwich - I can barely eat the half! Wish I had her metabolism!! Her comment was we don't get ahi this good. Me - Lobster salad - luxurious with tender baby potatoes, skinny green beans, spinach & lobster of course:) Hubby - Pulled Pork udon noodles - a tad spicy but delicious. Cousin - a full plate of lacquered chicken wings & their delicious tomato bisque. No room for dessert folks but when I have they are sooooooooo good."

  • "We were taking my inlaws to dinner and needed some place close to their home PV that wasn't one of the usual suspects. I did an Urban Spoon search and came across Restaurant Christine. While the interior was a but run down, the noise level was a bit high due to a raucous table behind us and service was a bit slow in the beginning (I had to keep looking around to find a server), the food was fantastic. We had a great time and lovely meal and commented on how pleasantly surprised we were to find a new restaurant in their neighborhood. We will definitely be back."

  • "I was visiting from the east coast and needed a place near my hotel to take a family member out for dinner. Christine's was such a pleasant surprise. Quiet and cozy seating allowed us to easily catch-up without struggling to hear each other and the food was delicious. Lobster salad, ahi tuna, & stuffed crab were just terrific and presented beautifully. Service was stellar and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Torrance/Palos Verdes."

  • "The food and service were superior. Great appetizer, followed by entrée to be shared were excellent in terms of quality, portion size and originality. Dessert was similar, but less generous"

  • "Christine's is consistently great. Their specials are delightful. The shredded pork on brioche with onions and red cabbage slaw is out of this world."

  • "On a spontaneous moment, we booked dinner reservations at Restaurant Christine and we were a little worried about the pre set menu for the evening...our worries were quickly dashed upon setting foot into the lovely little restaurant! Warmly greeted by I believe to be the owner, we were immediately seated and quickly presented with a glass of bubbly, the menu options on the 4 course dinner, were varied and all were described so precisely. The portions that were presented were very generous! No small plates/tasting menu here! The food was presented beautifully and was just as delicious! We could tell that most of the diners were "regulars" as they were each greeted warmly by the staff- we (out of towners) were treated the same! Fab service!"

  • "We keep going back to this neighborhood gem over and over again for any excuses we can make. The quality of food is very high and always consistent and very reliable. Well created menu for anyone at the table. Pork chop dish is our favorite. Ambience is always great...makes you feel that you are dining at Christine's cozy house! Upstairs can be a bit noisy when the main dining floor is filled with large groups, but it's fun to see what's happening from the top. We highly recommend Restaurant Christine for any happy occasion!!"

  • "In direct comparison with Dominique's Restaurant in Redondo Beach, the same dishes were twice as expensive at Christine's but not as tasty. The only exception was the lobster bisque, which was tolerable at Christine but had a weird metallic taste at Dominque's. The house red at Dominique's was a wonderful Pinot Noir, and at Christine's was a mediocre Cabernet which left a burning after-taste. The bread at Dominique's was fresh soft French bread which I could not stop eating. At Christine's the bread was hard, dry and tasted sour. Christine's fresh apple strudel was burned & my wife's flan was revolting, as was the custard we were served before the meal instead of salad. The simple side salad at Dominique's is great. Serve salad not custard."

  • "Food was good. Waiter was a little loud and boisterous. He had a lot of stories to thrust upon us. He opened our bottle of wine, and we never saw him again until he brought the bill. We've had better dining experiences here. Kitchen is consistent. Waitstaff could use some fine-tuning in customer service."

  • "A fan for years and recently returned. Same great food. The Snapper was outstanding as was the beef Wellington. Although the Chef was not at the restaurant this evening there was no drop-off. Well run."

  • "I went for the Monte Cristo but ended up w/tacos - the plate comes with a generous salad & 3 soft tacos - I had chicken & my friend had ahi - both delicious!!!! There wasn't a spare tabled int the room, so glad I made a reservation - it's also telling that the lunch crowd love's the food here as much as we do. The hostess, Claudia, is a breath of fresh & welcoming air and the rest of the staff are very professional. For a little town like Torrance this is a big city operation!"

  • "This was our second time here, trying to use up a gift card we were given.... The first time we went, we went for dinner, and the food was amazing. The fusion of differnt flavors worked very well, and the quality of the food/presentation was excellent.... Our second time we went, it was for lunch. The food was still amazing. My husband had the Kobe Burger, and he really enjoyed it. I had the Pulled Pork with Soba Noodles. It was a fusion of East and West flavors, which was very tasty. However, the pulled pork was very filling, so I couldn't finish it. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't so filling.... It's a bit pricey, so it's nice for special occasions or a date night."

  • "Try the warm mushroom salad as a starter, and the pork chop as an entree. Have not found a restaurant yet in the South Bay that can beat or even meet Christine's pork chop. Perfect every time."
