Food was much better than expected. The scallops were done to perfection and the pork was out of this world. Incredible horseradish sauce on a crispy outside made this crepinette something special. Our waitress was functional but a little crabby. All the other service people were fine, I think ours might of just had a bad day. This was really high end comfort food at reasonable prices.

Loved the restaurant. The owner was very attentive. The only problem was OPEN TABLE! There was no record of our reservation. I provided the owner with a copy of the confirming email I received from Open Table. Clearly, something fell through the cracks.

My first time visiting the restaurant was wonderful. We shared a some of starters, one with the duck and one with the rabbit, both were just excellent. I recommend this restaurant especially if you want to try some foods that you normally would not find. The service was also excellent. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of their main courses.

We love it here! The food is always fabulous and the drinks are pure alchemy. The staff is really personable and it has a great neighborhood feel. The food and drinks are upscale but the atmosphere is very homey and comfortable. We go here often because we live in the neighborhood but I would recommend a drive across town to check it out.

This is the first time we have returned since chef Black has gone. New menu follows the updated comfort food vision. Had the beet croquettes, lamb meatballs with polenta, rabbit with spatzle, vegetable lasagna and meatloaf. Food is well prepared and nicely plated, but it's missing that depth and spark that Black gave it. Over all, everything was a bit too sweet. But, it was an enjoyable evening.

Very expensive for the size of the portions, which is a shame as the service was friendly and they had a great kids menu. I think our tiny $9 salad of arugula, beets and goats cheese had 3 crumbled pieces of cheese - we had to ask for more.

THe food is excellent here; crab benedict for brunch was perfect in every way! Those crunchy and tender spuds rock! My teenager could have a burger, which she loved, with excellent fries and great homemade sauces to dip into. There are small children here at brunch, and they are loud in a space with a lot of hard surfaces. I like kids, but if you are trying to escape that kind of racket, I'd come during their naptime...after noon, I'd guess.

A good meal. We did not test the kitchen much on this visit, opting for Butternut Squash Soup, Hanger Steak and a burger - just a casual,mid-week dinner. The soup was a standout, with the lush, creamy texture one expects from a well- prepared version of this Northwest Fall standard. Burger was only so-so, but the fries were very good. It can get loud at Bea if the restaurant is full - with the place only about half-full on this visit, sound levels were fine. Service was friendly and attentive.

This place would be perfect if only they would dampen the noise level, which is loud due to a high ceiling and exposed ventilation. Hanging something covered in fabric (a la restaurant Marjorie) from the ceiling that meshes with the charming wallpaper would solve or at least mitigate the problem.

Restaurant Bea is a charming spot for weekend brunch, and it's quite surprising that more people haven't taken notice. Bea can be noisy with a full house at night, but otherwise, the sound and energy are perfect for lazy weekend mornings. Crabcakes Benedict and the frittata are consistent winners...

Really nice experience. Food was superb. Loved the scallops particularly. meatballs amazing. trout nice but nothing too exciting. pork nicely executed. They were unfortunately already out of two items we would have loved to have ordered, but being in the neighborhood, we will sure to be back. After cremant and the last restaurant in this location both didn't survive, I honestly hope they do well. They deserve to.

Carefully constructed menu had enough variety for everyone, but was small enough to do everything superbly. The food preparation takes the same approach--delicious gourmet food, but still simple. Not too fussy or overly complicated. The stuffed squash blossoms with tomato relish were perfectly balanced, and the scallops wrapped in bacon, with a fresh corn based sauce were outstanding. Our small party couldn't get there until late on a week night, and the staff could not have been more kind. Despite the late hour, we felt relaxed and were not rushed at all. A lovely evening.

We had a well executed mediocre meal. Only one dish stood out: tomato-beet gazpacho. The summer corn chowder was only good because anything sweet with lots of fat is good. My trout was dry and almost tasteless. The rabbit cannelloni was ok but boring. I wanted to like this place as much as I liked cremant but that did not happen...

Our food, cocktails and service were outstanding. The kitchen really nailed the dishes ordered by our table dishes--beet salad, trout, chicken. The roasted watercress with the trout was delicious, and I'm not someone who would normally get excited over greens. The "Roman Nose" cocktail may be a new favorite of mine. A light and lively atmosphere. Looking forward to returning.

I had chicken with a herb pan sauce and my girlfriend had the scallops. We both had soups as starters, tomato gazpacho and corn chowder. All was incredible but top marks for the chicken and corn chowder. We were too full for dessert but will be back for more. Service was every thing that you hope for and really added to the quality of the experience. If we lived in the neighborhood, this is definitely a place that I would love to come on a very regular basis.

Food was terrific but service was pretty bad. Very aloof, got one salad order wrong but disappeared so quickly we had no chance to get it corrected; same thing happened when they whisked away a drink that had not been finished. They were already out of a couple of menu items by the time we got there (7 pm -- that seems a little early to be out of things). Painfully loud -- really hard to have a conversation. Too bad, because the menu is interesting and the food delicious.
