Although we had made a reservation for 4, the restaurant was very accommodating and we were able to increase the reservation to 5 people without a hassle. We dined in one of the smaller rooms -- actually the same room I had dined in on my previous visit -- and everything was perfect. The presentation was beautiful but not pretentious. We were too full for desserts, but the complementary pralines hit the spot. My husband had the vegetarian tasting menu and was pleased with the variety and originality, especially the stuffed squash blossoms. I started with gnocchi with black truffles (yep, REAL shavings and a generous amount at that!) and crab in a light cream sauce. The potato gnocchi was the lightest I have ever experienced and I always try the gnocchi when offered. Wine list was excellent.
We went at about 7:30 which was perfect; it did start to get a bit noisy by about 9:30.

The amuse bouche (much more than a single mouthful) began the evening’s bliss with an egg shell full of the most delicate and flavor-filled, three-layered treat. Gnocci followed, more tender than the most delicate pasta you’ve ever eaten, and enveloped in a delicious black truffle cream topped with blue crab – I never wanted this dish to end! Pacific sablefish and tri-part duck for dinner, and goats milk cheesecake for dessert – every bite outstanding. Service was thoroughly attentive, knowledgeable, and very pleasant without ever interrupting our conversation. The food was fantastic as was the service. Given we were going out to eat at so many places, we appreciated having the option of a $20 prixe fixe lunch option. Although, I was eyeing the rest of the menu and look forward being able to come back when I can afford the other options.
Great service. Fantastic food. Just watch out. The strawberry salad is TINY. Given all the eating and drinking you will do in NOLA, this is actually a good thing. On this recent trip we dined at Emeril's, K-Pauls, Mister B's, Dickie Brennan's, Domenica, Borgne, & RioMar, and of them all we liked August the best!!
The blue cheese stuffed fried oysters were incredible.
I highly recommend the lamb loin.
And the August version of banana budding with peanut butter "dust" was amazing.

The food was superb! We started with foie gras 3-ways and the fried oysters. My wife kept it light with a salad as her main course and I had the Pacific Sablefish. For dessert, we shared the banana pudding, which was out of this world. We sat in the back room, which didn't do much for me from a decor standpoint, and the service was good.
