  • "Good food, attentive staff, slightly different but unique decour. Try the eggplant meatballs. Sounds strange but taste great. The Chef came out and spoke with us, a very nice touch."

  • "This was our third time to the restaurant. All three times have been outstanding. We went on a Sunday night so it was empty. We enjoyed everything we ordered and the wine list had some very good and reasonable selections. We will definitely be back."

  • "If you want a civilized meal, off the beaten path, in a beautiful setting - this is your place. Food once again excelled. Service friendly and efficient. Dining room gorgeous. Our friends from out of town could not believe it. A local treasure."

  • "Who knew that a place like this could exist in the state of NJ. In a converted old house, now apparently a boutique inn, is a hidden gem of a restaurant. The dining room feels like some sort of fairy cave - a great deal of thought and innovation went into the design. Service was perfect, martinis from the bar impeccable, food was inventive and delicious. It is not cheap, but in line with the quality of the experience. There is absolutely NO walk-in traffic, so you feel like you've discovered something special. Highly recommended."

  • "for the quality of the entre n appetizers the price is spot on! and the wait staff is always friendly. whenever we are up this way, we ALWAYS make reservations at The Hotel Tides; enjoy, we do!"

  • "a little off the main thoroughfare in a residential neighborhood, Hotel Tides hides a wonderful dining experience behind an unassuming façade. A plain exterior belies the modern interior which greets you as you step through the door. A small bar in the lobby area before the main dining room is available for before or after dinner drinks. We were promptly seated for our 7:30 reservation . A small but interesting, not overly priced wine list is offered. The menu is seasonal and the food descriptions made us want to order everything. My dining partner had the BEST crab cake ever and my burrata and tomatoes were exceptional. Main courses of the pork chop - a huge serving and my scallops w/ arugula salad and grilled peaches were flavorful."

  • "My husband and I dined here for a date night dinner -- it was a Friday late night (9pm reservation). Of all things, a customer's picture of the ceiling (inside the restaurant) posted to Yelp caused me to be a little apprehensive about dining here. But to my pleasant surprise, the food was great (nothing to write home about, though), service was wonderful, and it wasn't too noisy or too quiet. It's a pleasant restaurant, and on a casual night when I'm looking for a nice-casual meal, I'll probably come back."

  • "Been here once before. While the last time was slightly better, the food was still delicious. "

  • "I was pleasantly surprised to experience fine-dining in the Hotel Tides, which I hadn't found in Asbury Park previously. I went with my wife and daughter on Mother's Day, and we had excellent food, with superb service. It is a few blocks from the beach - but it's an easy walk - and worth the effort. The food is great."

  • "This was our second time to the restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. And we loved it the first time. I was a little disappointed in the lack of specials but the regular menu did not disappoint. My husband had the short ribs which I had on our previous trip. He loved them. I had crab crusted halibut that had a to die for pistachio romanesco sauce. The dining room is a little loud but in no way did it detract from the food. We will be back."

  • "Not too crowded on a Saturday night. Portions not very big. Generally we watch what we eat by not ordering an appetizer to curtail calorie intake. I suggest to order a salad or appetizer or you can walk away hungry. Would like to see some more veggies included with the main course. Vegetables are not expensive and necessary. The halibut is my favorite. Delicious...fresh. Very pricey for what you get. They have my favorite wine there-Gaston Malbec. "

  • "Returned for a second visit after a gap of 2 years. Our first dinner was a very pleasant surprise - food and service was very good and the room was attractive and comfortable. My wife and I knew we would be back. This visit was not disappointing. We started with generously poured cocktails. All dishes were flavorful, well prepared and presented. This time we were a party of 5 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our choices. The only negative was the bread - soft, doughy rolls. Really? "

  • "All I can say is WOW! I didnt know what to expect from the outside...the hotel has a strange Bates Motel-esque blue neon sign outside, and the neighborhood is, shall we say, so-so. Then, when we walked in on Easter Sunday, to find NO other patrons in the restaurant I really started sweating. I thought for sure my family would have tons to say about my horrible restaurant pick. Well when the appetizers came, I heard my boyfriend say "WOW!" I couldnt believe it...he's not a "WOW" kind of guy. Then I tasted my appetizer as I started hearing my daughters, my son, my sister, my niece, and my mom all commenting "Oh My G-d!," "This is SO good," "Here, taste THIS..." and those were just appetizers! The dinners were just as AMAZING! A definite fave!"

  • "Mushroom soup was just great, creamy and filling. Pear Martini is perfect and one is enough! Artic char was moist and perfect after eating that soup. Service is always perfect and music was playing in the lobby. The menu is limited, but always has something for everyone. The room is also enchanting (the word my 5 year old grandson used to describe the place). Well behaved kids only! I don't think they have a kids menu."

  • "Have eaten here many times and they are very consistent with service, food and atmosphere. Recommend the short rib, duck breast, smoked lobster mac and cheese. Great room too! This place is a hidden gem in NJ."

  • "Love this restaurant. Decor amazing, food wonderful, staff so nice and attentive. Great meal!"

  • "The food was great...the Short Ribs were very, very good! The mushroom soup was the best I ever had. My only problem with the whole experience was where it was in Asbury Park. Bordering on a half decent area, but very dark and quiet. I was not happy walking to my car after dinner. Not easy to find a parking spot near the restaurant and we had to park around the block. Not as vibrant an area as Cookman Ave. I think if The Tides had valet parking I would not even hesitate to go again with my girlfriends over and over again! It was that good!"

  • "We had dinner here with my parents and two friends for my husband's 40th. It was the perfect setting! Quiet and cozy. everyone enjoyed themselves and the cocktails, appetizers, and entrees were prepared wonderfully. Our waiter was attentive as well. My husband got the lobster mac and cheese and he said it was the best mac and cheese he has ever had. I ordered the chicken roulade which I found delicious. My friend got the short ribs and loved them! For dessert, I had the fried cookie dough which was, as you might expect, amazing! Thanks Hotel Tides for a relaxing and fun evening!"

  • "We were a little nervous when we arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday night and were the only party in the restaurant. Now the weather was not ideal but it wasn't that bad. Some other parties came in later. Definitely a slow night. We went off our waiter's recommendations since it was our first time. We shared the crab cake app which was excellent. Not a lot of filler. My husband had the short ribs which is their most popular entrée. I had a lamb special. It was all excellent. We also shared dessert. We would recommend to others and will go back."

  • "This was the third time we've been their and et me first start by saying that we enjoyed our previous times and I would have considered the restaurant very very good...but not exceptional. After this last time I have downgraded the restaurant to good/average. So...what was the problem? THE FOOD. We had a party of eight and ordered four different appetizers and three different entrees. Out of the seven dishes I would rate one as outstanding (the Eggplant Meatballs appetizer) and the rest as average. Probably the biggest complaint would be lack of seasoning. It appears the chef didn't know of salt or any other spice. When you leave thinking the calamari at Chili's is better than the one you just ate...you know there is an issue."

  • "a cozy dining experience. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. the boutique style of the hotel spills over in to the dining room. Our waiter, Carl, was welcoming and cheerful and informative. The menu was interesting and unique enough with it being an issue for a pickier eater. We started with the soup. Portions were plentiful and I had the butternut squash soup which was delicious with a dab of creme fraische (spelling???) on the top. For my meal, I chose the bacon-wrapped bison meatloaf and potatoes and I think veggies if I recall correctly. It was sinfully delectable! Cocktails were also great and refreshing. The only drawback was the large party seated near us which came across as very loud and overwhekming in the small dining room."

  • "We had a fabulous meal at The Hotel Tides. We go out in AP often and I have to say this was the best meal by far. It out does all the other restaurants on Cookman and the Boardwalk. As soon as we walked in the door we knew we were in for a treat. Had yummie cocktails at their lovely bar in the front lounge area. No one rushed us as we lingered there. The meal was superb. We started with mac and cheese and eggplant meatballs as appetizers. Best mac and cheese ever!!!! Everyone's entrée was great. I had the delicious shrimp and lobster pot pie. It was loaded with large pieces of lobster too much to finish. The scallops dish was excellent and the filet superb. Don't skip the perfectly grilled brussel sprouts. Hats off to chef Jeff."
