Restaurant at the Getty CenterAs great s the art.I was so shocked this restaurant was as great as the art. This gem is an unexpected foodies delight. Great food and wine, great menu, great service and great view. Wish it was open at night more often. This has become my "go to place" to take out of towners for a view and taste of the best of L.A.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA special placeThe Restaurant at Getty Center was really wonderful. We had reservations on Mothers Day and we were seated right away in a beautiful table. The entire restaurant has amazing views. The menu was limited but every item was fabulous sounding. The three of us each had a different meal and each one was outstanding. The service was great and the entire experience was everything I had hoped for my Mothers Day.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGetty restaurantGreat view, good service, Good food. Excellent time5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Museum Lunch in LAHad lunch on Sat while visiting the Getty. The restaurant was full, a reservation is a must. The short ribs were excellent, plenty to eat. The Halibut was very good. The strawberry tart is highly recommended for dessert.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEating delights at the GettyThe musuem is considered the attraction but dont miss the chance
to experience the Restaurant at the Getty.
Wonderful views, great food and an outstanding staff will make your dining experience a special occasion.
The wine list is very good and the dessert selection was a real treat for those with a sweet tooth.
Recommended for all occasions but you check it out even if you just hungry and need a moment
before getting back to the Museum.
I recommend making a reservation and suggest trying to get an outdoor seating.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a hitI try to eat at the Restaurant at the Getty Center whenever I go to the museum. It's beautiful, the food is exquisitely prepared, and the service is always fantastic. If you can eat outside, I recommend it: the views are incredible, and there's almost always a pleasant breeze that makes even a hot day very comfortable. I've tried items from all over the menu: salads, entrees appetizers, desserts and I'm always pleased. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant of any museum eatery I've tried and it's one of my favorite places to eat.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem!Superb! We dined with friends from the Bordeaux region in France and they loved every morsel. It was a great meal, well balanced, a pleasant environment for conversation, and excellent service. You don't find many restaurants like this. I am looking forward to my return. Bonn appetit.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding views while receivingOutstanding views while receiving top notch service. The food was absolutely delicious.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMgot the pre-fixe dinner.got the pre-fixe dinner. Shrimp Salad, Pork Chop & Hot Fudge Sundae. Both the appetizer and dessert were presented very creatively. Good & reasonable wine list. Full bar cocktails too.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGetty EleganceThe setting and food were both excellent. Service is wonderful. Allow at least 15 minutes to park and take the tram up to the restaurant. Definitely a place to go when you have time for leisurely eating and want an elegant restaurant and beautiful view.
The day we were there, it was windy and a bit chilly in the shade. When the weather warms up, it has a beautiful outdoor space, with a view to the ocean. Great place for a party or wedding.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter enjoying the architectureAfter enjoying the architecture and art it was lovely to have a proper restaurant where we spent a couple of hours dining with friends4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there on a day whenWe were there on a day when fog permeated the museum so there was no view, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is a treat to have a mealIt is a treat to have a meal at this terrific restaurant. The setting on the grounds of the Getty is spectacular even on a hazy day. Dishes are prepared and presented with elegance and they are delicious.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA hiccup in an old favoriteThis is a beautiful restaurant, open and airy. We've dined there before, and usually have been happy, but this time quality appeared to be slipping. The 'skillet' (an egg dish) was tasteless, the duck confit was misconceived and poorly executed, and the entree selection was very limited. The positive side was the delicious appetizers (recommend the salmon and the cheese plate), good selection of wines by the glass (the Au Bon Climat Pinot is outstanding) and friendly, attentive service. I am giving my recommendation based on past experiences, hoping this visit was an aberration.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth it for the AmbianceReally enjoyed brunch here on a beautiful sunday! The menu wasn't impressive and neither was the food however, it was great service and great ambiance, so it was worth it!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother marvelous birthdayAnother marvelous birthday for my wife..
The second in a row!!!!
The most glorious setting with breathtaking canyon and
Ocean views!!!! Not only that, it's integral with
one of the worlds renowned museums!!
A definite 10 1/2!!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Overall ExperienceIncredibly fresh salad, amazing combinations of flavors, fantastic drinks, and amazing views.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful selection of excellentWonderful selection of excellent food & service. Breathtaking view!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellent.....alwaysAlways excellent.....always a highlite of our trips to L.A. area......4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was inventive butThe food was inventive but the Korean short ribs were overcooked and tough but somewhat flavorful. The rest of the food was very good but not exceptional. The service was very good and the wine list adequate if limited. For the price paid and the exceptional views (and convenience of the restaurant while visiting the museum), this is a good value for the price paid.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about our experienceEverything about our experience was fantastic. We had out of town guests who were blown away but the restauraunt food and service!
Thank you.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Getty Restaurant is onlyThe Getty Restaurant is only open on Saturday night for dinner. It is a hidden gem.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendI have been here on numerous occassions and find every single time to be lovely. They do switch up their menu which is great, but when you have a favorite they may not have it the next time you visit. Innovation is a good thing.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Restaurant is great. ItThe Restaurant is great. It has really good food, nice wine list, and a great view. We took the kids as well and they enjoyed the food. there is a nice kids menu as well, Mac N Cheese (homemade, not orange), Chicken and mashed potato, and maybe a few other items. The kids food was great, I would have even eaten it :) We had short ribs, green pea rissoto, and halibut. All three were amazing. All in all a really great break from an amazing museum.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFun afternoon without wine. Our server was a delightful gentleman. Food suggestions were superb. Wine lost was lacking and short pours, in addition to pricy.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything is ArtPart of the thrill in bringing our granddaughters to the Getty is to have lunch first at The Restaurant. This is our third visit which began when they were both 10. This visit they celebrated their 18th with the graciousness of the staff at The Restaurant. The food was out of this world and as my granddaughter said, "Those were the best scallops I have ever eaten." The food is artfully prepared and the service and ambiance are exquisite! Thank you for making it another memorable day.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe most beautiful restaurantThe most beautiful restaurant in L.A. with spectacular views. We just made poor choices from the menu.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAn incredible day at The Getty! An incredible day at The Getty! The food, outstanding! Service, excellent. Views, to die for!
Loved the warm chocolate muffins., crab Benedict and St Germaine Belini.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food. WonderfulWonderful food. Wonderful presentation. Wonderful service. Wonderful setting. Wonderful views. Wonderful is the key word at this luxurious yet casual restaurant.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Cobb salad was a specialMy Cobb salad was a special taste treat; my husband enjoyed his flat steak...each selection had a surprising element of creativity. And for the less adventurous, there was still the ability to pull together a winning .
The server started out professional/competent; however, by dessert she had forgotten one dessert selection as well as our instructions about the division of the bill which resulted in a delay of our exit.
I would like the ability to reserve for more than four people..we were five people, but we were accommodated, but with pained expressions...I had to make two reservations, 15 minutes a part, and hope you would receive us all st one time...a group of five.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMnot to be missed experience!Amazing views and really tasty food. Pricey but worth it.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat views! Great food!We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. It was a small gourmet menu and it apparently changes often. A bit pricey. My family all had something different, from the flat iron steak, roasted chicken, char (fish), and salad. They all tasted great.
The panoramic scenic view of LA, the ocean, and Mt. St Mary's was awesome, especially on the clear day we experienced. It's important to make reservations, as those who did not had to wait up to 30-45 minutes for a table on a weekday.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMService was a little slow,Service was a little slow, prices moderate, excellent menu, very good presentation , unbelievable view.
Overall a very nice restaurant that I would recommend to anyone.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI would like to see more healthyI would like to see more healthy option on the menu, less cream & cheese. Better quality breads Crackers that you used to have before. Olive oil & wild seafood. The menu is very creative, but doesn't need to lead to unhealthy one.
We still enjoyed the outstanding service & ambiance.
Thank you.
Ara3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to the GettyWe have been to the Getty many times but had never eaten at The Restaurant. We went for brunch last Sunday. What an enjoyable experience. We were 3 people including my 8 year old son. Our waiter was very professional but warm and took extra good care of my son without treating him like a child. That being said, i would not come with small children or older children who are not used to sitting at the table for a long time. The restaurant is for diners who want to enjoy a longer dining experience-they do not rush you.The views were amazing and there is enough space between tables so you can have conversation wih you table mates. Will Definately come back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is so lovelyThis restaurant is so lovely and the food is really well done. It's a little bit of a journey to get there but totally worth it. Surrounded by the architecture, the art and the view the food could be a second thought but it is top notch. I love this place!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!I had a great time on Easter Sunday at the Getty with my friend. The food is awesome and the wait staff is great! I look forward to my next visit.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA priceless gemA priceless gem inside LA's art treasure, the Getty Center. A masterful collection of artistry and visual delight all curated with impeccable taste and intelligence. The museum is not bad either.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointedThe Getty is an unparalleled experience, and the restaurant is worthy of the Getty. The space is elegant casual, with glass wall and beautiful vistas. The service is cordial and helpful. The food is really faultless. This time they offered an exotic Korean fusion special that I can't pronounce. I didn't order it, but they obviously accommodate the adventurous. I settled for two appetizers, Carpaccio and crab cake. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. There's a good selection of wine by the glass. The combination of the spectacular Getty and its fine restaurant always makes my day.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a wonderful restaurantThis is a wonderful restaurant and each time we have been there we have enjoyed ourselves. The fact that you also get to explore the Getty makes it that much more enjoyable.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good service, greatGood food, good service, great view. Will visit again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the TripThe food was beyond my expectations. The restaurant could be the main reason for visiting the Getty.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA Special Day OutThe maitre'd and wait staff were very accomodating and knowledgable. My friend and I enjoyed the spectacular views from the window table I had requested when I made the reservation. We both enjoyed the succulant scallops and the wonderful "Getty Old Fashioned". We both look forward to our next visit.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was friendly , helpfulThe staff was friendly , helpful and knowledgeable. Great to take out of town guests!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm an architect and was thrilledI'm an architect and was thrilled when my girlfriend wanted to subject herself to a day at my favorite architect's magnum opus. I anticipated "institutional" food in a nice setting. I was blown away. The service was top-notch, from the host to the busperson. Everyone was polite, stealthy-but-available, and made us feel welcome and served. Then there was the food. The menu appeared to be standard brunch fare...until these beautiful dishes arrived. The combination of flavors, with fresh premium ingredients, was outstanding. It was one of the best meals I've ever had.
Oh, and the restaurant is like being in one of Meier's homes. Not bad.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe view is only the beginningThe perfect place to start or end a visit to the Getty. This glass-enclosed view of most of Los Angeles is a bright, airy bit of respite away from the fast pace of L.A. life. The food is imaginative and well presented although the menu is somewhat limited. The waitstaff is not only accomodating but genuinely friendly. The pea tendril risotto is an interesting and delicious combination, although I was originally wary of combining two carb-oriented foods. The Cobb salad is big enough for two. One of my favorites is the bread basket with tiny rolls and crackling flavord flatbreads with a chunky olive spread.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy sister and I had a greatMy sister and I had a great lunch at the Getty Restaurant. I had a Bluberry Martini which I thought would be too sweet but was not. We ordered the cheese board which was delicious. I had Flat Iron steak which was very good and my sister had the Risotto which she enjoyed. The wine list is very pricey with few wines by the glass under $15. Also it got really hot by the window when the sun shined in.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dined here once at yearWe dined here once at year while attending Selected Shorts --- from our first visit it has never disappointed, extreme consistency in food choices, quality of preparation and attentiveness of service staff.
Looking forward to next year.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food, fabulous viewThe Getty restaurant has a wonderful lunch menu. Lunch there will be the centerpiece of your visit to the museum and garden.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLuncheon at the Getty's RestaurantLuncheon at the Getty's Restaurant is on a par with luncheon at the Carousel at the Louvre, the Petrie Court Restaurant at the Metropolitan Museum, New york, the National Portrait Gallery in London. Excellent food (I nearly always choose the prix fixe menu and the accompanying wines.) proper service, well-spaced tables, quiet, simple luxury with wonderful views of either the ocean or the hills to the north.
I love to see exhibits for 90 minutes or so, have a leisurely lunch (with wine)at The Restaurant and then another hour or two of the artistic delights of the Getty. Thank God for The Restaurant!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
