The Getty Center is exceptional in so many ways. The restaurant is good, but doesn't match the heights to which the rest of the Getty soars. Our entrees--salmon and swordfish--were superb--and the cracker sticks on the bread plate were top flight as well. The salad would have been perfect--colorfully, flavorfully fresh--except that salty sliced lard has no place in a wholesome salad. The desserts couldn't figure out what they were supposed to be. Someone was trying way too hard to be creative and not focusing on quality. Service was slow, especially when it came time to get and pay the bill. It would have taken little (get the lard out and make delicious desserts--not artsy ones) to have reached the pinnacle of pleasure. Nice try.

One of the highlights of going to the Getty is having lunch at the restaurant. The Prosecco, preferably with splash of St. Germaine is a great way to start. My son loves the french toast, husband the crab cakes and the salad with figs for me. The bread served was warm and tasty. Don't forget to order dessert - they are beautiful and taste as good as they look. I like to sit inside as sometimes it can get a little breezy outside for lunch and I like the white tablecloths. It is quiet so easy to carry on a conversation. A real winner for me.

This restaurant, part of the Getty Museum, is only open on Saturday's. The view is great as the sun is going down...after that just darkness. The service was attentive. The food was eclectic continental and quite good. The Getty is free but parking is $15.

I reserved a table for a birthday dinner. I brought a special bottle of champagne I had been saving. When I asked him to open it, the waiter told us that we could not have it opened because it was against the restaurant's policy. What restaurant doesn't let you open a bottle of wine or champagne a long as you pay the corkage fee? Why not at least tell me when I made the reservation? We would have gone elsewhere. When I asked the reason, the waiter told me that the policy existed because the museum was owned by a trust, then because the restaurant was managed by an independent contractor, then because the restaurant could not promote wine. Huh? None of that made sense. it just created bad will. Not a good policy.

I ordered a "Bouilabaisse" and got benevolently a mediocre shellfish-stew, which was disappointing, regarding the price charged therefore. If such an established term is used, this plate should be characterized at least as "Californian". A French "Bouilabaisse" is something total different. The chef may check wikipedia. The place has an overwhelming setting. The diner's majority seemed to be visitors to the museum.

We were very disappointed in the meal. It used to be so good, but now it has become coarse and flavorless. I suppose it's tough to have real talent in the kitchen only one night a week. The menu is far too shellfish and meat heavy. There really is not much to choose from for a vegetarian or flexitarian or someone allergic to shellfish. And the servings were way too large, as though it's striving to be Denny's. Such a pity. It was so good in past years.

This is the third time my wife and I have dinned here. This time we took a friend who has never been to the Getty Center, he loved it and wished his wife could have come with us, but she had a prior commitment. My wife and I each had a huge Cobb salad with herb marinated chicken, bacon, apples, bleu cheese, cranberries, pecans, cider dressing and a half bottle of Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir since we are from Santa Barbara. I also enjoyed a bowl of seasonal soup. Our friend ordered an incredible appetizer with figs, cheese, nuts and berries that the chef increased to meal size with the charge the same as the Cobb salad; he also ordered a sampling of four desserts which he shared.

The view is lovely, the food is good, the service friendly. Sometimes the kitchen seems to be a bit slow, and food trots out at unexpected times, usually late. Our soup came before cocktails were served, then wine that should come with dinner, came 35 minutes before the main course, so the chill was off. Otherwise a good place. We'll be back.

Recommended it to my Aunt and Uncle based on a previous great experience but was extremely disappointed. The service was only so so and the waiter impatient with questions about the menus from my Aunt. The drinks were poor, my Uncle began choking on his martini when he reached the bottom and found all the vermouth. My drink also was poorly made and not mixed well. The main course, ravioli for my Aunt, salmon for my Uncle and scallops for me, all came out cold. My Aunt sent hers back to be warmed and it came back only slightly heated. My scallops were rubbery and the flavor of the dish bland overall. My Uncle, who never complains, even commented that his dish was of poor quality. I had recommended the restaurant and was embarrassed.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary at the Getty, which was punctuated with an amazing dinner in front of a wall of windows looking out towards the pacific, which more than makes up for the lack of any type of intimate booths. We were both doubly impressed by the top-notch service, which was very accommodating and friendly, and the amazing meals that we were served. It's not often that a restaurant knocks it out of the park on presentation, portion size and palette delight. They most certainly did. We will return. I highly recommend any couple do the same.

Basically really enjoyable and no complaints. The service was excellent, food was really good and the view is pure LA. They sat us a the corner of the bay window and saw a great sunset. My only regret, is that I couldn't sample the nice wine list as I was driving. It's not inexpensive but in this case you get what you pay for. The museum during the day and then ending here was a a wise move. Well done.
