  • "Restaurant 17 @ Hotel Domestique, is only a short drive from downtown Greenville and are impressed with its ability to grow with ever increasing number of diners as the word gets out about the culinary skill of their young chef, Adam. A restaurant is of course is more than just the kitchen and the "front of the house" now has their act together and is close to matching the quality of its food offerings. We arrived within 5 minutes of our reservation and were seated promptly in spite of all three parking lots being packed! It happened to be a Tuesday, which has the complete menu plus a fixed price menu of a changing monthly region. We opted for the Cyprus fare in order to test our palates and the chef and it was....Astonishing!"

  • "We were intrigued to try the special Turkish menu offered the evening we were at Restaurant 17. The restaurant is serving regional cuisine menus on Tuesday evenings. Like every other meal we have had at Restaurant 17, the food was flavorful, interesting, perfectly prepared, and refreshingly innovative. We now have a new appreciation for Turkish food. Other than the fact that there were no merlots on the wine list, we were perfectly happy with our entire experience."

  • "To celebrate an early Father's Day for my husband, we dined on Friday, June 13 at 5:30. The restaurant was quiet, in fact we were the only ones there. I had requested a table with a view, and we were seated upstairs with a beautiful view. Our waiter was Robert C. and he was very helpful in explaining the menu and identifying some items we may like. Our meal was fantastic. The sweet corn and lobster risotto was out of this world. We also had a side of grits that were equally a wonderful. I chose Scallops from the small plates for my entree. My husband enjoyed the pasta of the day. Our entire meal was delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and Steve the manager came around to say hello. A great experience and close to HVL."

  • "Went during the week for dinner. Found the ambience to be okay. Modern design with lots of hard surfaces was not warm to my taste and lead to the room being a bit louder than needed. The waiter was good - but not overly welcoming (perhaps trying to be more formal) - experience was saved by a few manager visits and the folks filling waters glasses and taking away dishes. The food however was exceptional. Presentation and portions were right on. Priced as i would have expected. We will happily return."

  • "We had dinner with two other couples and everyone had a superb time. We shared the fried gnocchi which were good but not great, however the charcuterie and cheese plate was delightful. All of our entrees, rabbit, hangar steak and the quail, were excellently prepared. Our waiter, Lee, and the sommelier, Kathleen I believe, were extremely helpful with our wine selection. On top of a great evening, we enjoyed the spectacular view of the Blue Ridge escarpment."

  • "Chef Adam and his staff serve unique, subtle harmonized flavors that blend on the palate. Many of the dishes then finish with a lingering "ummmmmm" factor that make diners curious about the ingredients that create that effect. Delightful and intriguing, the flavors beautifully accompany the selection of wines. When in doubt, depend on the sommelier for assistance. The menu changes seasonally, and weekly, depending on resources provided by the many local farmers. Citrus-marinated scallops, smoked pork loin, chocolate Napoleons are just a few of the offerings we enjoyed. The kitchen prepares many of their own basics from charcuterie to smoked meats and pickled vegetables to tonic for the bar. Great service from Rebecca and Jennifer."

  • "We do not dine out often, so when we do, we are very picky. Restaurant 17 has moved to the top of our list with its excellent food and service. The only thing that would make Restaurant 17 better would be to improve the noise level. The food and service are excellent, decor and noise do not go with it. At Restaurant 17 the food and service are typical of your finest restaurants paired with decor better suited to a deli."

  • "Great destination type of place for a special dinner. You get a sense of unwinding, which makes the whole experience even better. The view of the mountains through the large floor-to-ceiling window is fantastic, especially at sunset. So, get there early and get a drink and enjoy it. The food is amazing, and our server was very knowledgeable and genuine. Of course, the prices are at the high end, and that's exactly what you would expect. But the food and the experience make it very much worth it, and more so than other great restaurants in downtown Greenville. Highly recommend Cheese & Charcuterie. I'll definitely be going back."

  • "Our waitress was delightful but it took forever to get our food. We felt it was very overpriced for the quality and quantity. My spaghetti with the anchovy sauce was good but it was served in a fancy bowl with slanting sides that made it awkward to eat. Also, although the menu was alla carte, it would have been nice to have a little bread with the spaghetti. My tablemates were less than satisfied with their meals also. "

  • "Looked for somewhere new, Restaurant 17 came up on OT. Very impressed - great service (our server even explained the background to the restaurant and hotel names), impressive wine list (backed up by a sommelier and server who clearly understand their wines) and great food. The entree sized pork and quail were excellent, accompanied by superb carrots and mushrooms. Moved the overall rating down one star for just one reason ... the noise. Our reservation was later in the evening, a lot of diners had already left but it was still noisy, to the point of distraction. There was a party upstairs, but they didn't seem to be especially loud ... I can only imagine how bad it must be when the dining room is full. "

  • "We reserved a table fully expecting the elegant dining experience we always had at La Bastide, the former restaurant at this location. We were sorely disappointed by the inattentive waiter, slow service and loud atmosphere. (There was a rehearsal dinner at the time, however, the loft area where they held this affair is open to the dining room downstairs. This was quite a distraction all night.) Not to mention the flies flying all over the restaurant, "Because," we were told, they "had left the doors open all day because of the wedding party." We could not have been more disappointed. Had we dined at a different type of restaurant, these occurrences would have been commonplace, however, we did not expect it here. We will not be returning."

  • "The drive from Greenville was certainly worth it! The hotel and restaurant are exquisite and the service (especially Rebeccah) was incredible. Started with cocktails/wine at the bar before proceeding to the table. While we had been hoping to enjoy the drinks on the gorgeous outdoor balconies, there was a wedding reception had the areas reserved but the bar itself was lovely. The glasses, alcohol, and eclectic wine list were all of high quality. Proceeded to dinner and everything was prepared excellently with one exception- the rabbit. The hanger steak, duck, and various small plates were scrumptious. We had to pass on dessert as we had a celebration cake at home, but next time we dine here we shall be sure to indulge! Overall- a MUST visit!"

  • "We had a party of seven and it was our first visit. We had been to the same location years before and was disappointed, but new owners/chef/menu made it worth the trip. Our waiter/sommelier seemed knowledgeable, however, we were very unimpressed with his presentation of the wine, as well as the fact that he laid the bottle on the glass when pouring. I'm not a wine snob, but even I knew this was wrong. The food was excellent, presented attractively and very tasty. Ambience was very nice, modern but there is a fireplace and excellent view of the surrounding hills. "

  • "I gave the Service a Fair rating (almost selected poor) because our Server was not terribly knowledgeable about the menu. She couldn't explain the dishes and didn't offer to find out. When the plates were brought, they mixed everyone's orders up even when we asked, "Is this the .....?" On our prior visit we had outstanding service so I don't know if this was a training issue or if we simply had a server who couldn't be bothered to learn. Menu is wonderful, ambiance as well, bartender excellent!]"

The food was delicious... all made from locally sourced ingredients and prepared on site, including all the pickling of vegetables and the curing of meats. The menu appeals to both foodies and less adventurous diners. The waitstaff was superb - - eager to describe the origin and preparation, and even history, of each individual selection. Everything was prepared and served with care and enthusiasm. The decor is understated contemporary elegance in a mountain setting. The huge bubble chandelier is a show stopper. We dined on the upstairs outdoor patio overlooking the pool, the Blue Ridge Mountains and a hillside vineyard. Perfection."

Fresh, local ingredients and a fresh approach to preparation make the food at 17 extraordinary! The service is prompt and friendly, the server's knowledge of food and wine pairings and an attentive manager all make this an exceptional spot....sure to please even the fussiest customers! We can't wait for warmer weather so we can dine on the veranda and sip on cool, crisp wine!"
