Very tasty food, great presentation
Very tasty food, great presentation, would help to have more vegetarian selections but otherwise inventive dishes with fresh ingredients.

The food and service are excellent. I enjoyed the tasting menu ($48 per person) and was treated to some truly spectacular dishes. The prices are on the high side (for me--I tend to stay in the under-$50-for-two-people range), but the food was good enough to make me consider dining here again. Parking is on-street and can be a challenge, but the restaurant is right across from the Muni station (Third Street/Oakdale/Palou on the KT line). Overall, a wonderful dining experience!

Give this place a try!
Friendly waitstaff, excellent food, sylish interior, and overal a great feel. Comfortable, upbeat, and very well priced. Food has been consistently good - I've eaten here a number of times. In a very nice part of the Bayview.

This place deserves our support.
The chef and owner is a great person and cook who has taken a chance in establishing this spot on 3rd. Nicely decorated and excellent food at reasonable prices.

we used a travelzoo coupon to do the tasting menue. the food was was fresh and vibrant. lots of spices popped in my mouth with the first bite. i will definitely go back to try different dishes. i think the overheard the chef saying that the menu changes based on what the he finds fresh at the market. a winner!

Delicious, vibrant food
This was our 5th time to Radio Africa Kitchen since it established itself at 4800 3rd street. The food is delicious, with wonderful ingredient and spice pairings making for surprising, vibrant & very tasty dishes. We've taken adventuresome and less adventuresome dining companions along with us and everyone has been pleased. The service is personal, caring and overall very good, and the chef himself always drops by. This is a sweet find and worth the mini-trek required.

This place was absolutely wonderful. I've never been compelled to write a review before dining here, but I wanted other people to know that this is the best value for your money you will find in San Francisco. The food is healthy, unique, and amazingly executed. And the two servers we had were so welcoming. The chef stopped by the table to answer questions and welcome us as well. Purely fantastic dining experience. Well worth the trip off the beaten path.

Needs to step up on wine selection
The excellent food is more Californian than African. Please step up on the mediocre wine selection!

Little Gem in the Bayview District
This little spot may be the pioneer for other great independently owned businesses in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. Eskender offers a really unique menu with a friendly staff. Food was delicious offering exposure to new spices and foods I was unfamiliar with. Comfortable atmosphere. I hope this paves the way for other unique businesses in that area. I recommend.

The tasting menu for two consisted
The tasting menu for two consisted of 5 courses and desert. The beauty of the food was an assortment of unique flavors which evoked distant recollections of familiar tastes. The smoked trout bacala was creamy smooth and moist - and not too salty - a wonderful aroma. The mushroom crostini and the corn soup were made from relatively ordinary ingredients and yet hit the palate with uncommon surprise. The lamb was pan African - reminiscent of Mediterranean and East African cuisine. The first bite brought a smile of contentment to both faces. The fish (barramundi) was succulent, just the right flavor so as not be overwhelmed by the lamb dish. The desert was the most ordinary dish - chocolate decadence cake with strawberries - delicious.

Very special evening
We have been talking to go to Radio Africa and Kitchen for quite a while and finally went with our daughter and her boyfriend this last week. Every single bite of every single dish on the tasting menu was amazing and like nothing we've ever had before. It was one of the best meals we've ever had anywhere in any country at any time in our lives. The personal welcome from the chef/owner, who was happy to answer questions about ingredients, just made it that much more special.
I wish we did not live an hour away!

Had the seasonal tasting menu.
Had the seasonal tasting menu. Food was delicious from start to finish, with the strong flavors that I really enjoyed. Was a little expensive but I'm a fan of Chef Aseged's commitment to being in Bayview and a part of that community, and I like supporting that vision.

Delicious Meal Every Time
I have been here a total of three times. I really enjoy the flavors, combinations of grains with meats, and the casual atmosphere. I look forward to meals here. I had the oxtail and thought this was one of the best versions of this dish. Look forward to many more meals here.
Of note, I wish the wine list were more extensive.

very interesting, complex and delicious food with pleasant and friendly service in nice relaxed atmosphere.

The only thing lacking at this restaurant is competent and consistent front-of-the-house-management. The food, decor, ambiance are all perfect but service is consistent ONLY in its slowness. The very small wait staff seem to be somewhat inexperienced.

Fresh and Fun
The ambience and service were very good. This is the 2nd time we have been here...and the food was good, but not like the 1st time. The biggest problem was the food was warm, not hot! The fish was a little dry and the trout appetizer was a little too salty. We will go back and hope these issues will be resolved.

I've been wanting to try Radio Africa a long time ago when it was an once-a-week pop up at Coffee Bar. Can't believe I wanted this long... the food was sooooo good, the ingredients super fresh, and the Syrah was excellent. We got the 5 course meal and every dish was fantastic up to the desert. The ambience is very casual, a bit too loud probably due to the warehousey type room. For the price range the ambience should be fancier but the food is worth it!

Having the tasting menu for two, we ate a variety of dishes. Each were delicious perfection. Service was thoughtful and friendly.

Wonderful place worth a trip
Very fine chef's work on mixing smells and tastes in the sides and sauces. Fish perfectly cooked. Chocolate desert excellent. The place has a beautiful modern design and noise-absorbing ceiling.

We really enjoyed our experience at Radio Africa. The food was amazing and also unique. This was our third visit and we are already planning our next one.

Finally, a destination restaurant in the Bayview! Think of the food as African-fusion, familiar (African) spices and ingredients, but used in a more contemporary and sophisticated way. From appetizers to dessert it is obvious that the chef is very talented. I plan on going back to try more of his dishes.
Service was friendly and prices VERY reasonable. Wine list is limited, so bring your own if this is important to you.

africa at home
Bvhp is special. Radio Africa across from one of SF's oldest opera house. And like the opera, Radio Africa seranades food & culture & community. A Michelin restaurant w better and more attentive service than @americanfishLV.

The Food was prepared perfectly with wonderful combinations. We had the tasting menu ( which included the appetizers, entree and dessert ), we enjoyed everything we ordered. The sea bass and flank stake entrees were very flavorful and well seasoned. The service was very friendly, knowledgeable and timely. We will go back.

Worth a trip to Bayview
Interesting, non-threatening, exotic food, prepared with fine ingredients and great skill. About 30% cheaper than it would be in a trendy neighborhood. I've been there twice and plan to return.

A Gem in the Bayview
I finally made it to RAK and I will go back as often as I can! We found a menu with something for everyone without being overwhelmed by a bunch of pretentious options; the food was excellent; the space is open and ambient; and the service was perfect: no one lingered over us but checked in at reasonable intervals. The prices could not have been better for high-quality cooking. I'll go back alone, with friends, or with a group.

Gem in Bayview, SF.
First time this location. Really lovely people, ambience, quiet jazz. Relaxing. Food is great. It's very reasonable! Responsive and able to accommodate specific dietary needs. Have liked in a different location before. Even better this time. Feels like an area you want to think about what's showing in your car. You want this place to succeed.
