A new find
The chef is not afraid to try innovative sauces in his offerings and if you like yours somewhat spicy, you're in! We will go back. We did have a notable bottle of wine for $40.00 which was impressive.

It was our fist time and a special occaision. Our Guests all were excited about their food. Their were three food items lacking. The Huerache was bland but the shrimp on it was tasty. The Beet salad came out missing the ricotta cheese and had to be brought out. It was bland. The recommended drinks of the night were the Guava Mimosas and they were sent back because they were bland. The service was wonderful. The atmosphere was wonderful. The music was very fun and energetic but didn't match the theme of the restaurant. It was fun mixture of rock and pop. The theme would have been matching if it was top Latin tunes like Gypsy Kings.

This restaurant was recommended
This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and family member. It is excellent!

Lovely restaurant, nice ambiance
I have heard a lot about Anepalco. I tried it with a friend for lunch. The location on Chapman was very convenient. Food was good. Service was geat. I'll definitely go back.

Just as good as the reviews say!
We had seen Anapalco's pop up as the palce to try on every list...so we did! It was fantastic from the menu to the service. It was a great, affordable place for a group for Easter Brunch.

This is the first time I dined at Anepalco's. The food was wonderful and the service was terrific. I will eat her again.

First time at this location. Love the food and service. They sat us down right away.

First visit on recommendation
First visit on recommendation of daughter. Enjoyed the food. Service generally good, but time for food seemed a little longer than expected. Great flavors, using many different types of chiles and spices. This isn't your usual Mexican food! The Shrimp appetizer was great, as was the Tuna appetizer. I had the scallops, which were perfectly cooked. Caesar Salad presentation is really nice, with each leaf of lettuce layered on top of the other with dressing between the layers. The Santo Tomas Savignon Blanc paired well with most of the items.
I will definitely be back, as there are more things I want to try!

Anepalcos on Mother's Day
I enjoyed our day at Anepalco's very much. The only complaint was that they did not serve the dishes they known for, i.e. chilaquiles. What I mean is that they have a separate lunch and dinner menu. I've been to Anepalco's many times and I really wanted to have the chilaquiles but felt a little blind-sided because of the menu change. If I would've known this, I would have made my reservation for earlier in the day. I know chilaquiles are a breakfast/lunch item, but I'm a loyal paying customer and I expect certain "staple" items to be available all day long.

Special food for a special occasion
All three of us enjoyed our recent Mothers Day visit to Anepalco's Cafe. The food was delicious, different, and the presentation was lovely. The atmosphere was vibrant and the staff were all very attentive. We will be back!

The menu is an interesting mix of French and Mexican cuisines. The Chiliquiles are well known as being one of the top attractions here.

We went there with a large group for Father's Day. The food was innovative & delicious! There were a number of vegetarian dishes fir some of our group and they were raving about the flavor of an omelet with a lovely basil flavor. I had the huevos divorciados which was like enchiladas with a fried egg on top with two sauces that were absolutely wonderful. The service was a bit slow and it was loud inside the restaurant (they recommended we sit outside on the patio, but there was quite a bit of traffic noise out there), but it was probably more crowded than usual. We'll definitely be back to try some of their other dishes.

Great food, great service.
Interesting, and delicious, combination of Mexican and French cuisine.

dinner for 4
We invited our friends who like trying new places, especially when we told them it was a French-Mexican place. The food was very good. It was hard to choose from the menu; it all looked so good. The service was very good, very attentive.
We have been to the breakfast Anepalcos on Main St. and love it! We always try to bring someone with us, just to show them how good it is. So this was our first time at the Chapman location. We will be back, with friends and family!

Great food, very interesting menu!
I've been here several times and each time have been impressed with the quality of the food. It is excellently prepared, interesting in its combinations, and beautifully presented. I highly recommend this restaurant. The biggest challenge to the restaurant is its location, but that is not a problem for people who eat there. Parking is fine, and the location is quite convenient. It's just surprising to find this at the Ayres Hotel. Go!

We were in OC for a weekend event. Luckily a friend told us about Anepalco's for brunch. I had the chilaquiles and my wife had the divorciados. Both were excellent, but the chilaquiles were amazing. The red sauce with cojita cheese had an amazing depth of flavor. It was nice to eat outside as well. I can't recommend Anepalco enough...just fantastic!

Great food and service
Had Tilapia & Shortribs. Very different and delicious .
Will return soon to try other dishes!!!!

Hotel restaurant that definitely stands out! Excellent menu. Service staff were courteous, knowledgable of the menu and very pleasant. Everyone seemed to really enjoy there job and went out of there way to make our dining experience excellent. The Steak Al Adobo was delicious! They do an excellent job of using French techniques with Mexican flavours and ingredients. If in town again will definitely be t the top of our list to return!
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Innovative menu, interesting but short wine list, and well prepared. This is a must try for foodies who are looking for something a little more interesting. The portions are generous, well presented, and very tasty. Couldn't be more convenient if staying at the Ayers Hotel (which is also a nice facility). First time I've found good Mexican wines (L.A.Cetto and Santa Thomas) in a US restaurant. Overall, really a nice experience.
8/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Although the menu first seemed more expensive than a $$ rating (Nothing under $8, entrees all $17-$23+), the food was spectacular! Wonderful mix of flavors and a unique culinary experience.

It has been of wonderful experience
It has been of wonderful experience to have lunch in Anepalco. The services are superb and foods are of high standard. We definitely will come back again.

Never do reviews
Food is absolutely amazing. Do try lots of appetizers. Portions are large. Prices arevery fair for the creative menu and great tastes. Patio seating is iffy. No heaters. Feels too much like u r eating in the parking lot. Service was uneven, but VERY friendly. Do try this.

Great value. Fusion hot spot with french/latin America wonderfulness. (Its a word now)
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great brunch! Everyone loved their entrees. The portions were large with the exception of the French toast. Delicious coffee! Servers were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!

Delicious, but slow
Very satisfied with the food but be prepared to stay a while ... great for a relaxed brunch but, if you are looking for a quick lunch, not the best.

Best Kept Secret
This place is a great value. The value is high and the price is low in contrast.
The reviews about chilaquiles are correct. Extras like Sangria are mmmm.

Pleasant dining experience
We dined early so the restaurant was not busy. We got excellent service. The food was vey good and creatively prepared. Lots of good sauces. 2 of us had the huachinango and one had beef with chilaquiles. We were all very happy with our meals and felt it was reasonably priced

Excellent chef with a unique menu
The food here is extremely well designed and prepared with a unique French/Aztec fusion style that combines great flavors together. They don't have a full bar, but excellent beer/wine list, and the service was perfect. Although the food was of a hipster hot spot quality, the prices were reasonable.

The BEST Chilaquiles
Stopped at Anepalco's Cafe on our way to an afternoon Angels game. We can't wait to go back to try their dinner menu. We've had chilaquiles elsewhere but these, without a doubt, are the best. We're looking forward to trying their shortribs in a mole sauce. Hmmm! Can't wait. Also, the service was excellent. Great place. Give it a try!

Interesting and Delicious
Mexican French fusion. I am not sure what that is but after going to Anepalco's Cafe, I know it means interesting and delicious food. My party of five was very impressed. The food was spiced without being hot. Really, really good.
10/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not the usual Mexican meal, and thanks for that. Each dish was well thought out. Distinctive flavors.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've driven by this place numerous times. The food was amazing! Food took a while to come out...
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Yum for brunch!
Staff were very friendly and kind. I had to request to be seated from the reserved patio to indoor seating because it was such a hot day, and staff didn't seem to have any issues with that. You see, my fiancé and I had our parents meet up at this place, so we were quite nervous, and wanted things to go smoothly. Anywho, Chilaquiles, Anepalco salad, and quesadillas...and oh yeah! Chocolate crêpes were delish!!! Their Green egg benedict was just okay...we thought it was too bland for our tastes. Overall, my fiancé and I did enjoy this place. We thought we should come back again when we aren't so nervous. Hehe
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food and a pleasant departure from the normal quick fix type dinner usually on the menu at many places. If one is expecting the usual Mexican menu you will not find it here. The dessert crepes are superb.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had heard about Anepalco's and we had some neighbors that also recommended it. The menu has some very interesting flavor combinations combining French and Mexican influences, mainly using flavors that are more Mexican with some French techniques. The presentation is also quite nice. The shrimp appetizer was very tasty, but only included 4 shrimp for $9. The wine list was a bit overpriced for what they offered. I'd like to try it again to taste some of the other items on the menu.

Second Restaurant, Same Great Food
Having moved from Orange County two years ago, we missed our occasional delicious meal at Anelpacos, and we were delighted to read of a second cafe at a location that seemed a perfect next step. We looked forward to our next opportunity to have lunch in the OC and we weren't disappointed, other than not being able to say hello to Danny who wasn't there when we were. The food was as great as ever as was the service. We enjoyed the enchiladas and the pork sandwich, and would return again for both. It's wonderful to see a vision evolve and such creative and perfectly prepared food now available in two City of Orange locations.

Our office has been here a few times and we absolutely love it! The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Rich flavors that made us finish every bite and want more. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes.

Chapman's Chilaquiles were
Chapman's Chilaquiles were "mushier" than what I'm used on Main St. Also, they were a bit on the cool side. It may have been due to the restaurant wanting to bring all our dishes out at the same time which in case I wish it was placed under a heater.
Pork Belly Sandwich was so good. A great lunch item, filling but won't leave you feeling too heavy. The pork belly was crispy to the very last bite and not oily. I recommend taking the top bun off entirely because there was too much, hides the intricate flavors and great texture of the pork.
Jalapeno Chimichurri Beef Sandwich was also good but I prefer the former. It could have used a little extra sauce of some sorts. It wasn't dry but could've used a little more moisture.

Anepalco popped up on a Yelp review and sounded grand. We were going to an event at the Honda Center and needed a restaurant close to the theatre. Located "in" the Ayers Hotel (must have been the hotel's coffee shop in another life), it was easy to find and had ample parking. The restaurant itself - what a treat. Very unusual rendering of Mexican cuisine with touches of French culinary arts...as i said earlier, "Yummmmmy!" I highly recommend making the trek to the other side of the Orange Curtain for some fine dining.
