Waiter were knowledgeable about the food & walked us through the menu & recommended some great choices. We ended u getting the cheek, which was a. Signature dish.
Food was exquisite - high quality ingredients (all locally sourced), leasing to the pallete.
Portion size was perfect - not overwhelming, but just enough to satiate.
Service was good - with attentive/knowledgeable witer who was easy on the eyes : )

Worth visiting, but not a favorite
The ambiance and service were great. Some of the dishes weren't hits. The charcuterie is definitely great, as well as the pig ear salad and the braised cheek. The pork masala and the cauliflower can be skipped.

In a town full of overrated bars and restaurants - this place gets it right across the board. Outstanding food, great service, and a charcuterie plate to die for. I take pretty much all my out of town guests here and it's been a hit every time. Will definitely be back.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Get the charcuterie and the meatballs! Two of my favorite things! What a delightful neighborhood restaurant. I can't wait to go back.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Where's the Pig?
Guess i thought there would be even MORE pig on the menu. good though.
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Pretty good needs tweaking
Overall 3.5 enjoyed atmosphere. I had the cheeks. They were good but came out warm while my companion's was super hot. Great flavor but portion size too small. I was still hungry after I left. Thought grits aka polenta too lumpy and this would have been great with white rice and if it was hot.

Can't get enough pork!
My party of two had crispy ears and braised cheek to satisfy our pork craving. Both were delicious. The julienne of ear was sassy spicy and melt-in-your-mouth crunchy. In contrast the cheek and grits were tender and more-ish (we shared one entree and would have liked a second.) I wish we'd had a larger party so we could have tasted a few more of the yummy offerings.

A group of friends (6) and I went to The Pig for Restaurant week and had an extraordinary time. Our waitress, Taria, was very knowledgeable and incredibly friendly and personable. All of us opted for variations on the RW menu and not a single one of us was disappointed. Three of us opted for the optional beer pairing and I thought each meal was paired excellently with each dish. I was very pleased with the presentation of each dish, although I must say by comparison, the Spicy Pork Masala, while delicious, was not the prettiest thing presented that night. This was a great time had by all and I'm definitely planning on returning Restaurant Week, or no.

I absolutely love this place. Their bar staff and waitstaff are great and always friendly. More importantly their food is awesome - I have been several times and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend the pork ragu (the favorite of everyone I would go with), the bacon-shallot green beans, and of course the truffled mac and cheese. Great for a date night or ladies' night out where you can try and share a bunch of things.

If you love pork, this is the place. Creative, delicious and excellently priced. Such a great deal. Must go!

Wanted to try a new place out for a low key anniversary dinner and so happy we decided on The Pig. We sat at the bar and had an amazing meal, the bartender was great and the drinks were perfect. Recommending it to all my friends.

Read a couple of favorable reviews about The Pig and decided to give it a try for a recent birthday celebration. From the moment we walked in the door we knew we had made a good choice! The hostess was friendly and quickly seated us in a cozy booth. Our server, Chris, was so knowledgeable, you would have thought he wrote the menu! We shared a number of the small plates to form our own "trip around the kitchen". Also, don't miss the on-tap Manhattans, complete with house-made bitters! Amazing! Everything we tried was great -- and believe me, we tried a lot!! Don't leave without trying the pig ears, braised cheek, mac & cheese, the face bacon (if you like pork belly, you will die for this), and the bacon wrapped peaches.
9/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Pig, Pig and Pig
You can't miss the bacon-wrapped peaches. Whatever you do--get these! I didn't care for the pig ears. Too tough. Service good, cocktails nice. Worth a visit.

Good spot for pre-Studio dining
My girlfriend's masala entree was the standout -- very spicy. My meatballs were also tasty. Service was friendly and attentive. We finished in plenty of time to get to the Studio Theatre a couple blocks north on 14th Street NW for the early (7:30 PM) curtain of "Torch Song Trilogy".

The Pig - great friend spot
I went to The Pig with a group of 4 friends, and the ambiance was perfect for catching up. Sharing plates is definitely the way to go. I liked every dish we tried: little pig tray, meatballs, burrata, mac & cheese... I definitely recommend.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
When you have a hankering for out of this world smokey sweetness, The Pig is the place to go. We had the pig ear salad, loin pinwheels with Benton's bacon, the burger with face bacon and the spicy BBQ. Everything was fantastic. Service was solid. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night. Had a great time!
9/13/2013 5:00:00 PM
This was our first time there, and overall it was a fun, tasty meal. We got the tasting menu, which was a good deal. Cocktails were solid, and the wine list was well planned. There were a few delays getting dishes to the table, but our waiter handled that well.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Pig has some of the best food in town. The highlight of the mean, shockingly, is the swine. You can get by if you don't eat a ton of pig, but your dining experience will flourish if you do. A great spot to take out of town guests that delivers on every single bite.

My tongue loves their tongue
This was our first visit to the Pig, and there was a group of 4 of us. The staff was super friendly. I am from South Carolina and it reminded me of the Southern hospitality from home. The best part was the food though. My husband had their omelet of the day - house made sausage, gruyere and tomatoes - and it was fluffy, delicious and divine. Another person had the grilled cheese with face bacon and chips - also gooey, warm and fantastic. Another had the chorizo salad which was bright and perfect for anyone watching their weight. And I had the tongue benedict which had the perfect amount of sauce and thinly sliced tongue that would please even the least adventurous of diners, but also make us foodies excited. I would highly recommend!
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Try the face bacon!
Delicious. Especially great brunch foods. The ambiance is very low-key, intentionally casual. The waitstaff is very friendly and concerned about potential food allergies. Like very concerned. Overall a great experience!
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Superb food and service!
My husband and I had a fabulous time there. Every single person who worked there was friendly and greeted us.
The cocktails I had were delicious and so were my husband's beers.
We had the following for food and loved every item:
- foie gras with bacon jam
- goat cheese gnocchi
- little pig
- the best potato salad!
We waddled out of there completely full and satisfied after some lovely farewells from the staff. We will be back!
9/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had a great lunch
Had the lunch tasting menu but they are stopping lunch. Had the pastrami, meatballs and salted caramel gelato for 19.95. Nice size portion and the pastrami sandwich was delicious. Also had the Miss Piggy cocktail - very good, too.

Favorite spot in DC for breakfast
The genius of tail to snout cooking is one thing. Making it beautiful, innovative, and tasty is something else. The Pig delivers it all and I can't say enough about how much we love this place. Add to that a service staff who not only seem to genuinely care about what they're doing but who come across as knowledgeable and friendly, with great recommendations and that almost impossible to find - always there when you need them but never around you so much that you're tired of them - The Pig just gets it all right.

As always, The Pig was an utter delight - great food, even better drinks, and awesome service. It continues to be one of my favourite restaurants in the city!

Fan of The Pig
We tried several items including the pate, pork cheek, oysters, BBQ, and the pork shank. Everything was extremely good. My favorite was the pork cheek and the BBQ was also pretty great. Even the sides were very good and I enjoyed the slaw. The Mac and cheese _looked_ good but I thought it was too dry so that was the only dish I would not recommend. Our server, Jason, was nice and knowledgable. Overall we enjoyed our dinner very much.

Great ambiance and service
Family friendly place where you don't lose out on the quality of food. Everything from the drinks to the meals were great... there just wasn't much in the way of fruit though. I was craving some fresh fruit and they had nothing, no sides or anything, with that in mind. But, then again, it is the pig so I can't expect the moon. I should have doubled down on bacon I suppose. Delicious food! Pastrami sandwich was great but could use a better porportion of the pickled cabbage to the pastrami (mine had barely any cabbage) and my break was soaking in oil, or butter. One of those... so not the healthiest. I would work on cleaning up little details like that and this place would be top notch.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Visiting from Oregon, we asked for recommendations. The Pig was perfect-casual for travelers, very good food with unique choices and great taste. Wait staff hustled and helped with selections.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
I would recommend the wild boar sausage. Very tasty. Also, house made pickles are delicious!!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great DC Find
This place was awesome! Every thing we ate was top notch. My personal favorite was the bacon wrapped apples and the chili. The waiter was also great. Not only did he give us great recommendation for the menu but helped us find other bars to go to after dinner.
As a side note: not a close walk from the center of DuPont Circle
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lots of pork options
There were so many great pork options. The pork cheeks were amazing and the apple bundt cake with the pork. The charcuterie board was average, but still good.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
With new restaurants open every week...the competition is stiff.....but the pig need not worry. It is outstanding with wonderful wait staff. Our new regular
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love brunch at The Pig. The jugs of mimosas are refreshing and tangy, and the spicy bbq sandwich with mac and cheese is the best bbq I've ever tasted. My fellow diners had the daily omelet, the pastrami sandwich, and the waffle with face bacon, and everything was super tasty and enjoyed by all. Go here!

A great place
The pig gave me and incredible dining experience. The food was delicious and different and the service was spectacular! I will definitely be going back
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
Solid food, excellent service
We had the chicharron (light, airy, not greasy, great first course), chickpea hash (flavorful, relatively light compared to everything else), face bacon (self-explanatory, it could have used a little more smoke flavor), porchetta (really quite good although could have been a LITTLE less dry), cheek stew (like boeuf bourguignon but a little less complex) and toffee cake (great sauce and cake flavor, the cake was a little dry for me).
The service was outstanding, from the hostess to the wait staff.
The ambience was semi-noisy and lively but we never had any difficulty with conversation at the table.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM

great food. the waiter was a bit condensing about our drink orders, two women ordering whiskey.

Very Nice Surprise
Someone was obviously very confident when they named a restaurant "The Pig" and they delivered. My colleague and I met for lunch and had great omelets (special for the day) with nicely dressed arugula and a side of cheese grits (very well prepared). It was a nice environment, great server and we had a lovely time.

Very good food, anything with pork in it, how can that be bad. The service was exeptional.

Nice Experience - Good Food
Had a great dinner on a Sunday in November. Wasn't too busy - there were available tables for walk-ins. I made a reservation about a week out knowing that it does get busy - out-of-town friends that tried to get in on a Saturday said there was no way they'd get in... So still very popular after being open over a year.
Good food - nice atmosphere -"Supper" portions are great.
11/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
Perhaps the best Bloody Mary
Perhaps the best Bloody Mary in town! And the biscuits, while not what I expected, were delicious.
11/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
Big on pig
Crispy pork shank was delicious and happy hour drinks hit the spot. Great service, nice dining environment, will definite go back!
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
If you like different type of food the pig is great to bring visitors from out of state. Pig cheeck and face bacon are to dye for! They also make fantastic drinks
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
I was hesitant to give Pig
I was hesitant to give Pig a try given I'm vegetarian and the namesake, but the menu clearly differentiated non-meat options. Cheese grits and scrambled eggs were yummy!
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Pigging at the Pig
If the name wasn't enough of a hint, this is a very pig-centered place. Don't bring your vegetarian/kosher/halal date here; he or she will probably leave hungry. Also, they focus on the less-loved cuts (tails, cheeks, ears), although the standards are treated well.
Since I have no objection to eating pork, I loved this place. The food was delicious, juicy, flavorful, and generally fantastic. It was very rich, though, so be warned.
The Pig also has a surprisingly affordable wine and bar menu, as well as non-alcoholic options. You won't go thirsty.
Service was great. Atmosphere is energetic and a little loud, but hey, it's 14th and P Street; I expected that.
Basically, if you want fun, energy, and delicious food and drink, try the Pig.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Had a great experience at The Pig. The hostess was super helpful and kind when I called in a panic about my reservation and our waiter was really knowledgeable about everything. I really enjoyed the food and the beer I ordered. The food was delicious! I ordered the goat cheese gnocchi with peppers and sausage and it was one of the best dishes I've had in DC. I would note that the portion sizes are not huge. I really liked that because it was just enough to fill me up and leave room for drinks but if you are really hungry I might order a larger dish or three of the small dishes to split with your dining partner- the prices are certainly reasonable enough to do so. Would definitely return- its a really nice spot with a laid back atmosphere.

Good eats at the Pig
Three of us met to enjoy a first meal at the Pig. Although the server recommended the small plates, we were all in the mood for individual dinners, so opted for the "supper" section of the menu. The pork shank and chicken-fried pork steak meals were delicious. I especially like the relative amounts of gravy and potatoes on the chicken-fried pork steak (not too much gravy, but enough so that the potatoes didn't harden into a solid mass as they cooled). I guess we are rather timid eaters, because many of the small plates had very little appeal (since they are made of parts of the pig that we didn't know were edible). We particularly liked the "pop art" decoration of enlarged liquor excise tax stamps on the walls.
11/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
Hate sharing it with others :-)
I wish I was the only one who knew about The Pig, but sadly I don't. Great food, great service & great Bloddt Mary's. Get over the name of the Heart Chilli. It is good.

This place redefines "pigging out"
There were 5 of us for dinner and we were all getting together in person for the first time. We had such a fun time at The Pig.
I love the small plates. None of us left the restaurant feeling stuffed and we had shared many different things. The bacon wrapped apples were incredible. We shared a banana split with bacon brittle at the end. WOW. So terrific. I really appreciate the nose to tail concept of the restaurant and vegetarians could enjoy the chickpea hash which was really tasty. There are also a few other veg dishes but this place is really a shrine to Arnold Ziffel and that is NOT a bad thing.
12/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
The minute you walk through the door- all you can do is inhale all of the gloriousness of The Pig. The perfectly curated menu, while not overly expansive, is straightforward, tongue and cheek, and delicious. The service was outstanding the food was top notch. Not only are the pork items to die for (cheeks! and the seasonal fruit w/bacon), but the sides are fantastic. The cocktails are fun and innovative and the tap list showcases some great local brews. I recommend it for a fun outing and a bacon-laced evening.
12/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
My husband and I went here for a late dinner on a Friday night, it was busy and vibrant. The cocktails were well mixed and so delicious and we got a chance to eat many parts the pig throughout the night. Everything was so good and we agreed the best dish of the night was the bacon wrapped apples with blue cheese. Sounds simple but it completely blew us away. Also the braised cheek with lentils, soooo goood! we would definitely come back again.
12/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
The blood sausage is worth the trip. I didn't like blood sausage but I do now. The flavor is rich and smoky, and the texture is just right. Of the three varieties on the sausage platter it was the best. Another was very good and a third frankly dry.
Overall, the nose-to-tail orientation is not faddish or smug, nor does Pig make a big deal of its serious foodie credentials. I like eating at a place that offers pig cheeks as food, not as a statement.
