We love this place...the food
We love this place...the food is excellent in taste and presentation. The chef even prepared a special salad for us. This was our second experience at Taita and the quality was consistent with our first dinner there, a prix fixe for Valentine's Day. The chef even came out to our table to discuss the meal and how he could improve Taita. This restaurant will be our new "first choice" for a truly excellent meal.

Not many wines on the wine
Not many wines on the wine list, not a whole lot on the menu, but what they did have was excellent.....oh, good wine glasses too.

A gem of a place!
This place is a gem. Though considered Peruvian Seafood, it has every category. Delicious, simple and affordable!
They don't have a "bar" yet and do serve wine & beer (not sure about cocktails...ask) and the best part is that you can
bring your own wine for only $10 corking fee.
I highly recommend Taita before it gets found out.

There is no other restaurant in Omaha that does seafood better than Taita. Bold statement, but one of the best meals we've had in town for a very long time.

Outstanding Food and Presentation
This little restaurant in the heart of Benson is a gem. The food was superb and the chef has special talent for putting together high quality, fresh and unique items. I will definitely return. They have menu items correlated with the season.

We really enjoyed our experience at Taita. The food was excellent and our server took very good care of us.

A quiet gem
Taita serves dishes that are interesting, creative and delicious. It specializes in seafood but offers several other options. I think it is one of the most interesting restaurants in Omaha. It has been quiet during our visits. I think it should be crowded, given the quality of the food.

Don't overlook this treasure.
Terrific Peruvian seafood/fish cuisine. Possibly best in town and a gift to Omaha dining scene. Owner was chef at high-end rest b4 opening this small Benson gem. Not yet widely discovered, so have had private attn on visits---but deserves to be crazy busy. Sea bream ceviche is sweet, tender & bright. Bass, mackerel inventively prepared, succulent with crisp skin & abundant umami. Perfect vegetables, beautiful presentations. Limited wines but unusual & very good (& we're fussy). Last visit reordered scallop app after (filling) dinner, couldn't resist the repeat as desert stand-in (which we then also enjoyed). Always good service. We get there every chance we get & feel sorry for those we watch pass by. Their loss! Yes, I'm smitten. Go there.

My wife had the scallop appetizer which she described as excellent. I had the brisket, and I was disappointed. Not in the way it was fixed, but it was brisket. I should have gone with one of the seafood items. The dessert was great. We will return.

Unique menu and delicious
We really enjoyed our dinner at Taita. Each entree was delicious and beautifully presented. The dessert was one of the best we've ever had. We're still talking about it! Very attentive service. The owner/chef came out to chat with us which was a wonderful touch. Lots of fish/seafood on the menu which I like, but there are a couple of meat and vegetarian options which is good. It will be even more wonderful when they add their bar. We'll definitely go back.

Delicious in Benson....
My Dad and I enjoyed this restaurant! All of the food was delicious, the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was beautiful. My favorite dish was the Monk Fish. I definitely want to bring my husband with me to eat there next time. The restaurant isn't very big so I would recommend making a reservation. We went on a Tuesday evening so it wasn't very crowded. I've heard that they are more crowded on the weekends.

A gem in Omaha!
I could eat at Tatia every night of the week! The food is beautiful, fresh, artistic, and healthy! The owner/chef prepares the dishes with great care. Our server is so talented and knowledgable and genuinely loves her work! The greens in our beet salad actually came from her own garden! Do not miss the ceviche- it is out of this world! Order many of the first plates and share with your friends! Each is a golden experience. Every entree our group ordered was out of this world! So beautifully prepared and presented and absolutely delicious! I cannot wait for the sushi bar to open! Go as soon as you can! You will be glad you did! What a treat!

I have been eating at Taita since it opened. Every meal is outstanding. There is no other food experience in Omaha that is like Taita. The servers are friendly and know the menu very well. Each dish is meticulously prepared and is an edible work of art! I can't get enough of this restaurant.
7/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were seated immediately with our reservation. The waitress was friendly. The beet salad was delicious. My partner had the halibut of which he let me have a small bite. It was cooked to perfection with grilled vegetables. I thought he might want to lick the plate! My rockfish was cooked perfectly. We will return. The unusual ice cream made from Lucuma, a Peruvian fruit was different and enjoyable.

Best seafood in town - no contest!
Taita has the freshest and most innovative seafood (and now sushi!) in town. I eat everywhere, and NO ONE is doing food like this in Omaha. Benson is lucky to have such a gem. This place should be packed nightly for the quality of food and value there. If you haven't tried it - bring your friends, and get there soon! The place is small, and once word gets out, you won't be able to get a table! Don't miss the ceviche or uni pasta. Can't wait to see how the sushi evolves!

A real gem
This small restaurant has added a sushi bar which serves up specials like an amazing vegetarian roll with crunchy quinoa . And the other rolls are just as unusual. Wasabi is house made and all the fish is flown in daily. Especially outstanding is the squid stuffed with chorizo. And in addition a new manager/ sommelier and knowledgeable bartender have added excitement to the restaurant. Taitta will not disappoint

Taita is a real gem in Benson -- the seafood is fresh and delicious, and the service is top notch. Be sure to make reservations through OpenTable - they only have 8 tables and 8 seats at their sushi bar, so you'll definitely want to guarantee your place.
Taita is really, really good. I'm glad that we discovered it.

Best sushi and seafood in town!
Taita! Don't go anywhere else for sushi! There is a difference, and Taita does it right! Ultra fresh fish, flown to Omaha daily, presented in artistic fashion, fabulous combination of flavors! So wonderful! Support our fabulous local restaurants! A special place indeed!

This is the most creative and unique restaurant in Omaha right now. All the big boys better look out; they have some tough competition from Taita! For the value of what you are eating, the menu is under priced. The food is so imaginative - the Omakase (chef's sushi tasting) is an absolute must do. You will be left thinking about the last bite you took for minutes later. The flavors are so dynamic and thoughtful. Every bite of sushi is perfectly seasoned by the chef - just forget about asking for soy sauce or wasabi; you won't need or want it! Service is outstanding, warm and welcoming - they are really lucky to have Haley there. Hopefully Taita will help raise the caliber of restaurants in Benson.

Outrageously Good Sushi
A fantastic meal during Restaurant Week showcased the creativity and variety that Taita is capable of. The first course sushi (a roll and 3 pieces of nigiri) was phenomenal, easily the best sushi I've ever had. Definitely will be back to have the chef's choice sushi tasting. Wagyu beef heart and braised wagyu brisket showed that the kitchen is capable of more than just sushi and seafood. On top of all the great food was a delightful Pisco Sour from the limited but focused cocktail list. Not enough good things to say about this place, go try it!

From Neutral to Knocked Out
We went to Taita with neutral expectations -- hadn't heard much about it. We left feeling like it was one of the more memorable dining experiences we have had, both because of the wonderful food and because of the terrific service. This place is not big in size but it is now big in our expectations. I highly recommend it.

I once dined at Taita a little over a year ago and saw a lot of potential. The restaurant was mostly a white box at that point. The food showed promise and the service (and lack of a liquor license) was not up to par. I was totally blown away with my most recent visit there. The restaurant is no longer a white box. Splashy vibrant murals adorn the walls and the addition of the sushi bar was brilliant! The nigiri I started with was beautifully prepared and each course got better and better. The restaurant also now has a liquor license. While they don't offer a full bar they have a fun smattering of cocktails and small but something-for-everyone wine list. The service staff is now on par with the very best Omaha has to offer.

Fantastic Dining Experience
This was our third time dining at Taita and it just seems to keep getting better and better. The sushi is the best in the city. It is not dressed up with gimmicks meant to kill the natural sushi flavor, instead the sushi is simply the best fish with other ingredients meant to enhance the flavor. Big portions are not on the agenda here, instead, take an opportunity to taste a number of different dishes. The roll sushi, sashimi, squid, and salmon were among our favorites.

Very funky atmosphere
The menu is limited but very well thought out. The service was very good, too. Kind of a nerdy spot. Not hip like Lot 2 down the street. But, you'll enjoy this spot. I loved the way they cooked the fish skin. Totally different and good.

Taita is a hidden treasure in the Benson neighborhood of Omaha. Upon entering you are greeted by enthusiastic and friendly staff. The menu has a good variety of exotic dishes to choose from, mostly seafood and sushi. We had the scorpion fish, salmon, and for dessert the chocolate ganache. Everything was remarkable in every respect from the stunning presentation to the exquisite sauces used, to the incredible overall preparation and flavor. We went there for the first time to celebrate our anniversary but will be going back many more times. The only small drawback was that it took a long time to get our change and receipt after paying for the meal.

First taste at Tiata
We were impressed by the excellent preparation, unique combinations of ingredients, and the very fresh fish (we had bass). Nice wine choices too. We'll be back for more.

Still not discovered
My wife and I have dined at Taita three times, all have been great experiences. We are always surprised that we can get a table given the excellent quality of the entrees. Most people we mention Taita to, have not heard of it. When the word really gets out, plan ahead in terms of reservations!

Outstanding food. Do not be intimidated by the adventuresome menu. This is a do not miss place. We had sushi and seafood special and both were full of surprising flavor and prepared to perfection!
