Excellent set up for Valentine's
Excellent set up for Valentine's Day. My wife and I loved the food and the service was incredible. Even though they ran out of my initial order, they were able to offer alternatives based off of my taste and were very apologetic and understanding. Definitely will be returning again.

I have only had breakfast
I have only had breakfast here and each time was wonderful. The atmosphere is light and bright and it is very open, but still cozy. Can't wait to try appetizers and wine some night.

I love their big booths which give comfort and privacy. Lunch there with friends is just terrific. The food is always good. I especially love the steak salad. The Beet and Farrow salad is also a hit.

Our experience was on a quite Tuesday evening. Just-right service. Each person in our group had a different item. Each judged their meal excellent. We will definitely go back.

My daughter and I really enjoyed the Easter Brunch and hope you will have more like it. We attend church services nearby and would like to stop after for brkfst. regularly. Our server was very helpful.

All of us in our party were happy with our food and wine. The fish was wonderful and tasted fresh and my son's vegetarian meal he thought was great too. Our server was friendly and helpful with our selections of wine.

We went for the 'Live Music Friday Nights' and it was huge fun! Great, live, local music and wait staff that went out of their way to make sure everything was just right.

Nice quiet environment. Casual and neighborhood gem. Pull pork sandwich and flat bread were good, but calamari was too salty. Good place to meet friend and chat, but not the place I want to go out for date with my hubby.

Fantastic Food & Service
Great food at the Restaurant Week menu event with wonderful service. 50 North brought it's A-game to our wonderful meal. I would definitely go again and recommend to others.

Fantastic gluten-free food.
Fantastic gluten-free food. We loved every bite, and the drinks were delicious, too.

New to us and we will go back.
This was our first time trying open table and I'd never heard of 50 North. The menu looked pretty good and they had a table available so we figured we'd give it a try. We met some friends there and they had arrived early and we seated at our reserved table early, which was great for them! They already had a few drinks by the time we got there. They were pretty happy and well taken care of. My husband ordered the ribs and they were awesome! I had the pork belly wrapped top sirloin which was really good and I loved the truffle oil infused mashed potatoes. The ambiance was very nice. We were kind of surprised to see so many children there, but it wasn't a problem. Overall we are really happy we found the place and we'll be back

Consistently good breakfast
Consistently good breakfast dining. Staff are always friendly and eager to help. Love being able to get a latte or americano with my breakfast.

Wedge and ribs are killer good
The "Wedge" salad (iceberg with tomatoes, blue cheese & bacon) is to die for. Baby back ribs -- tasty, tender meat that falls off the bones. Drinks are always special. Feel like I've really treated myself after a trip to this restaurant. Hip, efficient, friendly (UW students?) wait staff. Like the bustle of the place.

50 North is a great neighborhood
50 North is a great neighborhood restaurant? The food is excellent, the service is good and it is a good spot for a grown-up night out or for families. They have awesome live music on Friday nights! I highly recommend this restaurant. And, just to add, that they are very community oriented- check out their guest bartender program and other community giving- makes you really want to support them.

I went on a Friday evening to hear a friend who was performing at their 'live Friday' events. I'd make a reservation, and the seating was prompt. The waiter was courteous and helpful in explaining the specials. My guest and I shared the small clam appetizer, which was delicious. We had to work hard to catch the waiter's eye to request some bread to sop up the delicious broth - seems like the dish should come with this. I had the scallops on cauliflower puree, and my dinner partner had the roasted halibut special. Both were excellent. The wine list is also very nice - and well priced. All in all, a very enjoyable evening. Oh, and free parking! What a plus.

50 North has become a favorite
This is a fairly casual restaurant with a variety of cuisines - I have been here several times for both lunch and dinner and the food is very nice and the wait staff is excellent. It has become one of my go-to neighborhood places to meet friends.

Early Mothers Day Celebration
we had calamari and crab cakes for start, elegant presentation, quite delicious, only portions were small. for main course I had fish tacos which were perfectly prepared, (similar sauce to the crab cakes - an aioli), mom had the ribs which were good (but not "baby-back") and my wife had the seared sea scallops which were "ok" (too small a portion). For dessert we had the chocalate souffle cake, which was a "B" and apple pie ala mode which had great flavor (apple pieces a little hard). The live music was nice but it made some of our conversation a bit difficult. I love the design and decor and really comfortable booth. Prices were reasonable - about $30 a person.

The place you haven't discovered
We started with the Clam Curry appetizer. The clams were succulent and wonderful, the curry sauce was AMAZING. For mains, the table ordered the Halibut special (with a citrus gastrique), the Scallops, as well as a Clam Chowder, and Crab Cakes. The halibut was done to a turn, moist and smokey, the gastrique bringing a lovely acidity which was a perfect counterpoint. The scallops were absolutely perfect, tender and flakey, with a fantastic. The crab cakes were loaded with crab, and came with a pepper aioli that was delightfully snappy/spicey.The chowder came piled high with clams in the shell, and piles of pancetta and seasonal potatoes. The broth was creamy and savory.Discriminating foodies in Seattle should know that this place is out there.

Accpmmadted our large group very nicely. Large booths were great. Brunch choices we very good.

Great food, marginal service
I made reservations for Mother's Day brunch a week before the event. In my reservation, I also stated that it was my wife's birthday. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. Unfortunately, we sat there for close to 15 minutes before someone came to our table. No one wished my wife happy Mother's Day or happy birthday, although they seemed to do so for every other table. When our wait person came to the table to pour water and take our drink orders, he said, "you can go eat now, the buffet is over there." We never had anyone come by to check on us to see how we were doing. It actually felt as if the wait staff weren't sure whether our table was part of their section. Very good food, marginal service, forgotten table.

50 North is a good place to go with friends. The high backed booths are very comfortable and help lessen the noise from other diners. The one frustration I have with 50 North is that their food menu is quite limited. There are fewer food choices than wine choices. A bit more variety would be most welcome.

Wonderful food and service!
My friend and I really enjoyed our dinner at 50 North - the Margherita flatbread was yummy! I had the stuffed pork chop, which was juicy and very tasty! Our server was great - he checked in just enough and he was well informed about the menu. I would definitely go back!

fun, easy lunch near u-village
This place is just a solid lunch spot near u-village. It's not overly fancy or overly expensive. Good for kids and away from much of the u-village distraction.

We brought out-of-town guests
We brought out-of-town guests for Sunday brunch who were very impressed with 50North. The food was delicious. The service was great. It was quiet enough for all five of us to hear what was being said. The nicest part, they didn't rush us out. We sat drinking coffee and visiting for over an hour after we finished our meal . It was perfect for our catching up with each other.

great lunch place
a great place to dine, especially for those who have sensitivity to particular food ingredients or tolerance issues to certain foods they are willing to accommodate the diner's tastes and needs, which definitely adds to the dining experience. tasty dishes and great staff, worth repeat visits.

This place is great. The food is reasonably priced and perhaps because their drinks are not and they hope you buy a drink, but the food is really good. The appetizers are the best.

Great place for an intimate dinner
Very pleasant atmosphere: elegant chic. Food is excellent and the wait staff both friendly and knowledgeable. The design helps keep the noise down, thank goodness! The menu has VG and GF options and food is sustainably sourced. We really appreciate the local and sustainable feel and quality. This restaurant is owned by the same person who owns The Hardware Store on Vashon Island. The house red wine was very good! There was unobtrusive live music and an inviting bar area as well as a spacious table and booth area.

I think I love this place
Let's just say I have been here a couple times in the past few weeks and going again next week with a group of friends. The food never disappoints.

Gluten and Dairy Free
Hello. Love that this restaurant has some gluten free options, especially fried fish. Since you can fry fish, gluten free, how about adding fried oysters with the same gluten-free batter. The beet salad was great and was going to have some of it from my friend in exchange for some fish, but throwing the GLUTEN-FULL wheat berries on top eliminated that option AND didn't add much to the salad. How about the same salad with some gluten-free crunchie on top instead, or nothing on top.

Best eggplant fries ever
I could come here and just eat the eggplant fries and be happy. THey are the best. I also ordered the fish and chips and they were good, but nothing spectacular.
Their gluten free brownie is wonderful too.
Love this place

I love this place and I go often. Probably 5 times this past month. The service this night was horrible. We were ignored. We had to ask for everything more than once. We were ready for our check and our server never came by for 10 minutes. I had to ask another server to find her. I think the issue was that most of her tables were in another section and she just didnt walk by us frequently, but that doesnt mean we should be ignored all night. If I didnt love the food, I wouldnt come back after this, but since the food is wonderful and this service is not the norm, I will come back.
Highly recommend the spicy chicken sandwich and eggplant fries. Amazing.
Honestly everything I try here is good.

I will go back!
My book club likes has dined here several times and has never been disappointed. The buttermilk fried chicken is definitely a must-have and, personally, I love the white sangria. All desserts are fabulous, especially the banana cream pie with the surprise layer of fudge. While the noise level can be energetic, I find that the booths help dissipate the noise so it was at a very acceptable level. It's a little noisier if you are seated at the tables, but nothing that would keep me from returning.

Great for Meeting and Greeting
A long time friend from out of town and I needed a nice, quiet place for lunch in the University District. I selected 50 North, which is across from University Village... easy to get to... FREE parking in attached garage with elevator. Service was outstanding; attentive but not obtrusive. Limited menu with delicious preparations. This is a fine place to meet friends or clients for social and/or business meetings. Ask for a booth if a bit more privacy is desired. I will return there in the months to come with other friends. Reservations are a must if you plan to visit during a busy time, like prior to a Husky game.

Not a bad thing here
Eat anything here and you will be happy. The hardest part is choosing what to eat. I say this over and over, but the eggplants fries are amazing. I go here mainly for that, but everything else makes my mouth happy too. I eat here almost once a week lately. It's that good.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
This time we ordered the fried chicken dinner, the eggplant fries, kids meal, and the tangine. The eggplant fries are always amazing and my husband loved the fried chicken dinner. The tangine however was not great this time. I have had it before and it was good, but this time it tasted sour. I debated on letting the restaurant know and finally I said something. They were so amazing with their service after this. They offered to make me something new, but at this point it was late in our dinner and I said no. THey offered a free dessert and so we finally said yes. We got the banana creme pie and OMG it was phenomenal. I mean the best ever. Go there for just dessert and you wont be disappointed.

Fried chicken on the salad…..
As I was perusing the menu looking for a "healthy option", while of course really wanting the buttermilk friend chicken with mashed potatoes, and veg, i came across the buttermilk chicken salad. Perfect and brilliant. i got to eat the salad i felt I should, but with the fabulous fried chicken on top. It was delicious, and I didn't feel a bit guilty…..well until i had the salted caramel brownie which was amazing. Half price wine on wednesday as well, made for a delightful and inexpensive meal with a girlfriend after work.

Great Gluten Free choices
50 North is a fantastic place to dine if you are living gluten free. The options are not compromises, you can even order a gluten free chowder. The service is always great and the booths are super comfy. I have eaten here for lunch several times with kids and girlfriends and for a family dinner. Each time has been terrific.

only thing missing is good food
Presentation, fantastic. Quality of food, not so much. I am very particular and very sensitive and feel the options for vegan or gluten free are lacking. The restaurant didn't substitute very well, they simply take it off the plate, leaving the dish dry and dull. Not a restaurant who truly knows how to be vegan and gluten free. The rest of or party loved the burgers. Fries were lacking, chips were greasy. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is not vegetarian, vegan or gluten free.
