Nice, all around.
Excellent, enlightened cookery. Great wine list: mostly all affordable gems featured.

Service was outstanding (Chris); food was perfection; it is very open concept, so is a bit noisy, but otherwise very good. Amazing wine selections. More of a special occasion spot, but if a touch more approachable, would definitely be a favourite.

Took friends here on their recommendation. Service was really good and helpful in navigating their wine list. Food was good but everything was really heavy and really rich.

Being on the east side of Toronto, the restaurant is a decent size and the tables nicely spaced out. Not cramped like a lot of other downtown restos. The food was great, portions were a good size; not too big, not too small. Dessert was fantastic, definitely try them.

time for menu change?
We are regulars, and we love the food. The service is amazing. However, am waiting for a change in their menu.

Great experience at Skin and Bones!
What great service! I always appreciate a knowledgeable staff and they certainly provide one at Skin and Bones. Our waiter was fantastic, extremely friendly and attentive, and the sommelier recommended some of the best wines I've tried lately . It is a wine bar, so I expected great wine but the food was just as great, I would recommend the tartare. The music is quite loud so it's definitely a fun vibe but not ideal if you're looking for more of a laid back scene. I had a great time at Skin and Bones and I will certainly be back again!

Despite losing a chef and part of their kitchen staff a day before, the food was very good and the service gracious. I would definitely return once their kitchen troubles have been sorted as I can only imagine a future experience to be improved. Beautiful space, great wine selection. The sticky toffee pudding was fabulous!

Great neighbourhood spot
Great addition to Leslieville with super friendly service and great wines. Go for the 1/2 price bubbly and $1 oysters on Sundays.

Defenetly a good place to check out and make it one of your favs if you live in the area. Our server was great and the rest of the staff as well.

Every single item we ordered was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised. The wine choice, which we left up to our host, was also quite good...

Chicken Tails and others...
I've been here more than a few times and have not been disappointed yet. Just one request: please add foie gras back to the menu, missed it this time :(

Thank you Skin & Bones
Went there with a group of 10 for my best friend's birthday, the place is modern , clean & comfortable. All the staff was friendly , especially our guy Chris was very helpful and professional , even the chiefs have a smile on their face :-) food was top notch , the duck breast was the one the best I ever have ... Oh let's not forget about their bread , I can't stop eating it !!!!
Once again , thank you Skin & Bones for a fabulous evening , my best friend was very happy ! Can't wait to come back again !!!

Seats by the window are a bit cozier (this is a huge space)
This resto is loud so not really for romantic tete-a-tetes but fun in a group
The bread is made from scratch in-house and is the best I've tasted anywhere along Queen E.
Everything we ate was fab

Good for wine lovers
Excellent wine list, and delicious food. Solid service. Lots of hard surfaces, so it can be loud.

Excellent Leslieville addition
Amazing transformation from what used to be a car parts shop. Surprisingly large space finished in a urban industrial look, staffed by friendly and knowledgable folks. A wine focused restaurant, with broad selections and changing themes of "flights" available. Fairly limited menu but every dish our group ordered was "2 thumbs up". The grilled polenta side on 2 our orders was amazingly creamy; the trout was cooked just enough. The salad niçoise interpretation was terrific. Finishing off with sticky toffee pudding was heavenly.

An unexpected gem at Queen and Carlaw, Skin & Bones recently went through a chef change and let me tell you, the new chef is eager to make her mark on the Toronto Food scene!
Beef tartare, amazingly tasty
Seared duck for main... Everything was exceptional except the wheat berries, didn't understand why they were on the plate, either for texture or presentation but it didn't do anything for me except remind me of under cooked beans.. But besides from that, everything else on that dish was great!
Ended the meal with a sticky toffee pudding which was just heaven!
Definitely a place to check out!
And free parking on the street after 6pm and reservations taken unlike Black Hoof..

Great addition to Leslieville.
Great spot! Chris our server was fantastic! Able to accommodate gluten free. Really large back dining room with massive banquette. Nice selection of wine flights. Burgundy Pinot Noir was delicious, as well as the Jeio pink prosecco. Nice meat and cheese selection, the house made relish and roasted grapes... I'll have a plate of that alone please! Duck was amazing, so juicy and tender and really nice combination of flavours with the purée, compote and roughage. My only critique of the evening: the dish tasted better gluten free without the wheat berries. The chorizo and Octopus Basquaisse... So good! Tentacles always freak me out but it's super tasty and not overly chewy, totally worth it. Compliments to the chef, very solid menu.

Delicious and Professional
I met some friends after work for oysters and a glass of wine. The service was impeccable as was the food. I want to commend the restaurant for being very baby-friendly and accommodating.
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Menu is limited but with more than enough tempting items all of which exceeded our expectations very nicely. The fish with lentils and kale could have been boring but it was really tasty. . My companions were more than happy with the duck, hanger steak and the octopus dinners. We eat out a fair amount and we thought this place compared very well to the much-acclaimed restaurants in the west end on recent visits.
I loved the panna cotta.
The big room made it quieter - we were in a corner and could easily talk.
The only disappointment was no expresso machine. The restaurant needs to be able to offer caf and decaf expresso, caps and lattes.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely space, really good flavours, and lots of choices for wine by the glass or bottle, including options from their Enomatic. We were there late on a Sunday night, and it was very quiet - with the big open space it may be noisy when full, but I will definitely go back, which in this neighbourhood is notable!

Tasty Food Friendly Service
Could not have asked for a better Saturday night. Loved the complimentary sparkling water and every morsel of food was bursting with exquisite flavour. And to be waited on by friendly staff in such a spacious and cool room made the experience even better. Will be back to meet up with more friends again soon.

Fantastic Place !!!
Everything about this place was great. The food went from simple to complex, and every dish was executed perfectly. Service was impeccable - Jasmine our server ROCKS! Grea neighbourhood restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Did not disappoint
This was a first date on a Saturday night, and I'd passed by Skin and Bones many times but never been there. I hoped for a quiet spot so we could talk and get to know each other.. There is ambient noise, but no loud music, and our table was not on top of other diners so it was great for conversation. We had a scallop and melon appetizer which was delicious as was the beef tartare. We chose a Languedoc red wine whose full name I forget, which was outstanding in my opinion.. Although billed as "casual dress" there was nothig casual about the Service. Thanks Skin and Bones for helping make the evening a success.

As creative as the neighborhood!
Thoughtful, ambitious—and delicious—menu. Service that was exceptional without being cloying. Decor is sparse and fascinating. And then you get to explore the neighborhood!
9/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exceeded my expectations
Delicious food, beautiful presentation, innovative menu, and lovely staff; what more could one ask for? I can't wait to go back.

Went out of their way!
We were a group of 4, one of us had tricky food restrictions. I called ahead and spoke with someone who was extremely understanding. When we arrived the server immediately asked how they could accommodate. The chef created an amazing meal with all of the restrictions in mind. All of the food was incredible - totally reasonably priced for what we ordered. Our server also chose a wine for us, according to our preferences and it was delicious. They really know their stuff!
The ambiance is really neat and it's not too noisy... but noisy enough... It is obvious that much love and effort has been put into this gem.
We will return often.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything we ordered was delish
Mixed greens, beef tartare, cucumber risotto (?? I know!), duck breast, sticky toffee pudding -- all of it was great. Lot of wines by the glass, including four sparkling. Wine pairings were decent rather than wowing. Lovely, funky atmosphere. Slow pace to savour the wines.

This EXPERIENCE deserves all CAPS!
It is rarity in Toronto when you can truly say that from entry to exit you had a great restaurant experience but, Skin+Bones delivers just that! From a friendly, warm reception at the door to the complimentary little bites offered during happy hour, the approachable yet not "too familiar" service and the tantalizing menu offerings (food AND drink) this place is not to be missed. Every detail has been well thought out to bring a seamless and memorable evening to their guests. Don't miss out on the seared scallops, pork belly or duck dishes - bang on!
9/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Loved it! The watermelon scallops were amazing, would eat that all night!

East end gem
A real gem in the east end of Toronoto. Leslieville's burgeoning restaurant scene has a real contender in Skin and Bones. They know wine, they know food and the service was top level. What more can one ask for. Oh ya, a great atmosphere. The old auto parts building has transformed into a warm inviting room. Ample space between tables makes one feel like they are dining alone and not listening to their neighbors weekend stories. I would put this on the top of my list for a big group or just a casual drink at the Bar.

Excellent Restaurant - Great Find
Food extremely tasty, appetizer are different and great. Service is one the best

Incredible Wine Experience
Tried Skin+Bones for the first time and it was way beyond expectation! The servers were amazingly sharp and knowledgeable - we got a thoughtful dose of history with our order which I have not experienced in any other Toronto restaurant. They take the time to talk to you about the menu and when your food is served - really makes a comfortable dining experience. They don't rush you or hover annoyingly like other spots - you really feel cozy and at home.

Love this place!
Great restaurant. Menu is a little small, but all of the food is amazing!
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Oysters are awesome. One gripe is how long it took for our mains to come out. The food was ok, but not spectacular. Their cocktails are phenomenal though.
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
A wonderful experience
We went to Skin and Bones for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was excellent, the wine was excellent and the waiter was very prompt, courteous and knowledgeable about both the food and, in particular, the wine pairings. The only aspect was the noise level as the restaurant filled up. Fortunately we got there early and the noise was not a problem until later on when the restaurant filled up. We shall return!
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a wonderful dining experience here. Our server was extremely knowledgable, especially regarding the extensive wine list, and was very friendly and professional. The food was amazing, with sophisticated and interesting combinations, and was all the more impressive for accommodating various dietary restrictions (two vegetarians, one of whom is gluten-sensitive). The space has a minimalist but thoughtful feel, and the vibe is casually sophisticated without feeling the least bit stuffy. This is definitely one of our new favourites in the city, and we're eager to introduce our friends to this gem.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was impeccable! The pork belly and the duck are some of the best I've ever had. The wine list is comprehensive but not overwhelming. The service staff is extremely knowledgable and relaxed. Great experience overall!!

5 hour dining experience!
My boyfriend and I came in on Halloween for a lovely dinner. Started out with half price cocktails and a free snack board then tasted our way though snacks, apps, mains and of course the must have sticky toffee pudding. I also tried quite a few wines since they offer 3oz pours and was able to pair wines with each dish. How luxurious. Loved every minute.
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Started out a little noisy but as more clients arrived it became hard to converse
Food and service were very good and that made up fir the noise level

Some wonderful surprises - like happy hour on a Saturday, And a fabulous radish dish. Really, radishes. Excellent oysters. Will be back

Great Service and Food
Had a large group of people in for dinner. Service was attentive and they got everything right. Food was amazing with good portion sizes and choices. Not a bad dish on the menu. Wine selection was great. Highly recommended the 3 wine sampler option. After dining in almost every restaurant in Leslieville, this is easily my favourite. Great option for any occasion or just a random night out.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
great as always
Haven't been since it ooened and brought a group. Food and service were amazing as always. A great place for foodies and people who appreciate great service. Lots of kids there also, so surprisingly fit for families and not snobby. Great experience as always.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food and wine are fantastic. Service is OK and the place can get a bit loud. Only complaint was price: very expensive for what you get.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Finally a delicious resto with a great wine list- affordable and great service.
we'lll be back!!!
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Would definitely go back
Went with a girlfriend - neither of us had been before. Started well as parking is free after 6 - a rarity in Toronto these days! We shared the scallop starter and the radish salad - both were delicious and neither was overly filling. then we had the hanger steak and the octopus and chorizo. The octopus was particularly good - although the dish was much heavier on chorizo than octopus which was a bit surprising. For dessert we tried the sticky toffee and the ice cream sandwich. While we enjoyed them (couldn't finish them though), neither was particularly exciting. While I would absolutely go back, I wouldn't order dessert next time. The service was lovely throughout - attentive without rushing us or being overbearing.

Going again next week!
My fiancé and I always drive by the place and meet stop in. This time we decided to go for my birthday:) and what an awesome treat it was! Our waitress was extremely attentive but not over bearing and she took the time to figure out what would work for us in terms of wine and food. We had fresh oysters, the bone marrow ( um yum!?), the octopus and chorizo stew and the pork belly. I HIGHLY recommend the octopus... Tender and full of flavour. Going there again with my girlfriends this week and I can't wait:)
