Best neighborhood restaurant/bar
Scottish Arms has an impressive selection of single malt Scotch and wines, and its staff is knowledgeable and eager to introduce you to your next favorite. And the food is unique and creative--can we talk Scotch eggs? Fish and chips (best in town!)? Smoked salmon? Add an amazing brunch, and this is a neighborhood gem for those in the know.

The food was awesome! We were not disappointed with any if our choices and we had ordered some items just to say we had tried them. We will be back again. The scotch menu was also great.

The Arms has a great pub atmosphere
The Arms has a great pub atmosphere (warm, dark wood, candles, etc.) with an engaging selection of traditional pub fare done very well (best fish and chips in town, I think), plus a creative selection of other offerings. The staff are great, attentive, very friendly.
The draft beer selection is excellent and there's a good bottle selection. Not a scotch drinker but the selection is impressive! Nice outdoor courtyard, too.

We wanted a quiet, cozy bar
We wanted a quiet, cozy bar with some comfort food on a cold and rainy night and we found it. The mince and tatties were delicious! Try them. The waiter was great, helpful with suggestions on both drinks and food, patient as we were experimenting a bit. It was a great date night, a little more casual, but cozy and fun.
3/15/2013 5:00:00 PM
Bloody mary bar, endless mimosas, incredible food. Our waitress was outstanding and the food was insanely good. Just what we wanted in a brunch! You can't go wrong here, whether it's for brunch, late night, or sometime in between.

I went for lunch and found
I went for lunch and found they had greatly improved the lunch menu! I had a turkey-bacon sandwich and it was great -- and enough for 2 lunches. Wednesday after 12:30PM proved to be very quiet with a small customer base so the service was also super. All in all, a very good experience.
3/26/2013 5:00:00 PM
Excellent food and ambiance.
Excellent food and ambiance. If you are looking for something different, this is your place.

Scottish Arms is one of my new favorite restaurants! The food was phenominal, the service was outstanding and the beer was delicious. We will definately be back.

Excellent Haggis Fritters
Excellent Haggis Fritters to start, a delicious ceasar salad with bacon, then currywurst sliders, a lamb burger, and the amish chicken were all shared and thouroghly enjoyed. Will be back many times, because the menu is big in all the right places

Fantastic food, but a bit
Fantastic food, but a bit skimpy on some of the portions, considering the price point. Still great, though.

The Scottish Arms doesn't
The Scottish Arms doesn't disappoint. It's one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. They have a small but diverse menu of very good British food. The noise levels are not disturbing even during lively times. One minus, I would skip the Shepherd's Pie --- mashed potatoes and little else.
4/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great salmon and cheese
As a second trip, my girlfriend and I ordered the smoked salmon along with salami and then the cheese plank. All was extremely delicious and a great price.
5/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food and conversation
I had the haggis and a red wine (Malbec) and both were delicious. The atmosphere was lit soothingly and was great for conversation (even if you come alone!) -- I had quite an engaging one with the well-traveled person sitting next to me at the bar. A great place for a relaxing or romantic evening.

Everything I hoped for and more
My husband and I were in St Louis for my son's graduation which covered a two day period. On the first night we wanted something simple and straightforward-- nothing fancy. I saw the online reviews and gave Scottish Arms a shot. We loved the authentic and fun atmosphere. The food was delicious and well priced. I would definitely return. It is away from the other Central West End restaurants, which, in my opinion, is a good thing. Parking was easier (they have a small lot on the side) and everything was less rushed.

Great food and atmosphere
Nice variety of foods to select, and some very good traditional Scottish dishes. Atmosphere is fun. A special tip of the hat for having a variety of local brews on tap, coupled with some excellent happy hour bargains.

A Taste of the Highlands
We've been coming here for several years and the food and service never disappoint. The bar has more types of whisky and more styles of beer than you could sample in a dedicated sitting. The Arms is well managed and has a delicious seasonal menu using local suppliers plus a very popular pub menu that can take you right back to the Highlands, all reasonably priced. A great place for a night out.

Had a great time with friends.
Had a great time with friends. Service was excellent and their Scotch Eggs were delicious. Their grated brussels sprouts were very tasty and would definitely get them again! Others in the group enjoyed the scallops and burgers.

Love That Scotch!
Twice a year we travel to this restaurant before attending a local musical concert. The major attraction is the menu of foods of Scotland and the largest collection of Scotch whiskey. The service is always friendly. They have a very nice desert menu. The food is unusual and superb. Being able to make reservations via OpenTable is a great help. Highly recommended for a special occasion or a local "drop-by" for a bar drink or two.

Somewhat limited offerings, but very good food & excellent service.
The French Press coffee is to die for!
6/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
great sister restaurant to Shaved Duck! Strip steak was very good. Waiters were unorganized but we will be back!
7/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been here for dinner a few times. Brunch was also delicious! I ordered the Seamus Benedict and a Bloody Mary. Both were delicious. Others in my group had the ham and gruyere (one with the egg and one without), both enjoyed it. Another had the Soldiers, which was eggs and small slices of toast, with orange marmelade that tasted like candy. Also others ordered the baileys and coffee and the endless mimosas. Everyone was happy with their orders. Scottish Arms is a great brunch place I would definitely recommend and will be back!

Food and Service are great
The Scottish Arms was a lot of fun. I have been to Scotland and this place makes you feel like you have been placed in Glasgow for a night (only the food is better). The meal (salmon dishes and a nicoise salad) was fabulous and our service was fantastic (thanks Jenny and Meghan). The price is moderate ($75 for 3 people - without tip)
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Took my wife there for dinner because she wanted to try scotch for the first time. We were not disappointed by the selection. It would have been overwhelming if not for our waiter, who helped us pick out some good starter scotches. Food was also good. We'll be back.

Room For Improvement
Food was decent to above average. Fish and Chips was ok, not a fan of the batter, but it was good. Scottish Eggs were fantastic!
Drinks were good. Cocktails a bit on the strong side, bottomless mimosas tasted like straight OJ after the Rob Roy I had just tried.
I felt like service was slow. We were the only group (5 people) in the restaurant side of the bar, and our group made up half the crowd on the patio once we moved outside. We waited quite a while for check-ins for water/drinks, but not long enough to really get upset about. When we decided to head out, our server was seated at the bar, which led me to believe her focus wasn't on us, which left a bit of a bad impression on me.
I'll go back, but in no hurry to do so.
8/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were there with local and out-of-town friends on a Sunday night, so the restaurant portion of the Pub was quiet-just what we wanted! Food is authentic and delicious-LARGE portions. Wait staff was excellent-attended promptly to our every requests. And the "icing on the cake" was discovering that they carry Tennants which, being Scottish, is my favorite beer-very difficult to find here in the US....we'll be going back again and again.
8/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Never had a bad meal here. The service is good and the scotch list is endless. Great for special occasions or to grab a meal at the bar. Can't wait to make it in for one their scotch tasting nights.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I tried all Scottish foods and drinks. Our server was a great help in helping with our selections. The ambiance was great...lively atmosphere but other parts of the restaurant were intimate. Cool place for a regular hang out! Sorry I don't live in town.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were there on a Thursday, the restaurant was full and the bar was abuzz! Reservations are very much suggested.
Food was authentic, had a seasonal twist, and absolutely delicious.
Service was good and wait-staff particularly knowledgeable.

Haggis is a must
Great authentic Scottish food. Their haggis is better than the stuff we had in Scotland.

Reliving our trip to Scotland
My friends and I heard about the Scottish Arms and choose it for a birthday meal and to talk over our recent trip to Scotland.
We enjoyed the food and ambience, especially the servers who shared the history of the building and decor.
We talked over fish and chips, beer and cocky leekie and remembered our fabulous time spent in Glasgow, Isle of Skye, Fort William, Inverness, St. Andrews, Dundee, and Edinburgh.

Aye laddie, the lamb chops withpesto basil are amazin as is fish and chips. If you like whisky and whiskey this is your place. Friendly wait staff , good portions (except for the peas).

Great Brunch!!! (long wait)
I came with a group of ten friends to celebrate my birthday for a Sunday brunch. As always, the food was amazing and - I'm told - fairly authentic. The menu offered a nice mix of savory and sweet options to suit different tastes. For those who like a drink, I highly recommend the self-serve bloody mary bar. The table was ready when we arrived. Unfortunately, the service was very slow - our brunch took two and half hours, and not because we were dawdling after eating. Several of my guests had to leave before we could get the bill delivered due to their afternoon plans.
In summary, amazing food, but slow service. Recommended if you have some extra time for your brunch.

An amazing selection of whiskey and a knowledgable staff!

Great Birthday Celebration
The Scottish Arms provided a great location to celebrate my husband's birthday. He's quite the scotch lover and the scotch list alone was amazing. The restaurant offered a good dinner selection. Our waiter was outstanding. Definitely knew his scotches and provided some great recommendations. Several friends joined us later on and our waiter accommodated them graciously. I would definitely recommend the Scottish Arms to others and we'll most definitely be back!

A friend and I tried the Scottish Arms when we visited St. Louis as it was closest restaurant to the Cathedral Basilica that seemed interesting. So glad we chose this restaurant. It has a real neighborhood feel. Highly knowledgeable staff and a creative take on traditional Scottish foods. Definitely try to the Scotch Eggs appetizer--they're known for that. Next time I'm in St. Louis I'm coming back!

Took my fiancé for a birthday dinner. He was able to do the Scotch sample tour and we both enjoyed our flavor filled dinner.

Te Scottish Arms offers a good variety of food and beverages that you don't find elsewhere. Our service was excellent and our server very helpful. It was a nice place to linger over dinner with close friends.

Best pub experience in St Louis
The Scottish Arms not only has great food, it has an extensive Scotch list. Great place to learn what you like, and to enjoy what you've discovered. Food is great, seasonal and local.
