Great place to go for lunch. Service is attentive, the duck salad is divine, and the location is perfect in an area somewhat short on good restaurants.

Once again my fellow OpenTable
Once again my fellow OpenTable diners did a wonderful job of setting expectations. We arrived at Hakkasan with a list of recommended dishes that sounded delicious to us like pipa duck and added a few that are unique to the San Francisco location such as the monkfish tails. The portions are small given the price, but looking on the bright side this meant we could try a variety of items without getting overly stuffed. The pork belly was the clear winner at our table, but there were no complete duds in our selection. We each tried two of the specialty cocktails as well. They aren't as crazy as some I've had lately, just slight inventive twists on traditional favorites. Overall, a highly enjoyable experience.

I keep going back
I've enjoyed my experience every time I've been since Hakkasan opened last December, and I can't stop going. Whether it is for a date or just meeting with some friends for cocktails before we head out, this place never fails. At times the wait staff can take some time to fill a drink order while dining, but otherwise this place delivers on the hype. I always want to try something new, and I usually do, but that crispy duck salad is a staple on my menu anytime. Of the times I've sat at the bar, Jenny the barkeep has been both delightfully pleasant and meticulous in her drink making.

Great food... But price escalates
I found the food to be quite flavorful and well presented. The cocktails were excellent and flavorful and also well presented. The service was spectacular. The staff was friendly and inviting and made suggestions on the menu.
Overall I had a great time.
But the price went up fast depending on what you ordered. Not sure if te overall dinner was worth the price. But I still enjoyed myself.

Wow! The food is exquisite, service was the best and the interior is beautiful. The pic on their website does not do the restaurant justice. I had read that the portions were very small. I did not find that to be true. This is a fabulous resturant!!!

Excellent taste but quite pricey. The service fits the price; the staff is friendly and efficient.

Great food but noisy setting
I had dined at Hakkasan in London several times and was anxious to try the San Francisco version. Food wise, the restaurant was terrific -- the same great quality cuisine I remembered from London. The setting is nice, with large windows overlooking a busy intersection just off Market Street. And the service was attentive and prompt. The only downside was the noise level. The restaurant has a very vibrant bar scene, but the bar runs parallel alongside the restaurant and there are no sound barriers. So the restaurant itself is quite noisy, not a good choice if you're looking for a quiet place to talk.

Great food great location
Really enjoyed food out there. Pretty central. But getting a parking spot can be difficult if you don't know the area.

Truly a great evening.
A must have is the steamed Dim Sum and the chocolate orange dessert. Absolutely perfection.

Asian Fusion Restaurant
I had lunch at Hakkasan and it was very good. All the food was very tasty and unique. I liked their dimsum. It's pricey for Asian Fusion Food, but it was well worth it.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exquisite food with Asian flare
To say the cuisine is aunthentically "Chinese" would be misleading, though it definitely has Asian flare. We had the steamed dim sum platter, the seared scallops, Shanghai dumplings, the ribeye merlot, and a few other dishes. everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was outstanding - from the hostess at the door to the guy who kept our water glasses filled. We will definitely return

Good Night Out
The cocktails are very good
The service is efficient and professional
The interior decor is trendy, fun and vibrant
The entry via the lobby is kind of odd and the restaurant is a bit difficult to find (don't believe Google Maps)
Overall I would go back

High end branding done well
Outstanding service and really good Chinese food presented in a high end branded atmosphere. We were a party of five who ordered 5 different small plates and 5 entrees, all of which were delicious, but be aware that portions are small. The service was superb. You are made to feel comfortable. The place is upscale and expensively decorated. The full bar is a sight to see. Drinks are generously poured. The bill adds up quickly and was expensive.

Friday tea time at Hakkasan
Cantonese foods and Dim Sum at it best in America.

Hakkasan Creative Chinese Food
If you're looking for beef with broccoli and sweet and sour pork, Hakkasan is not the place for you. But if you're looking for exceptional quality, original Chinese cuisine that's as expensive as any fine dining restaurant, then this is the place. Considering that all the scallops are the colossal variety (super large probably from Alaska), and you get some nice portions on your plate, the price is reasonable. All the dishes are super fresh, original, and delicious. The snapper was terrific, but it wasn't a thin fillet, but a thick meaty cut.. The hot and sour vegetarian soup wasn't great. The Tropical sorbet was quite tasty. To me, Hakkasan is in the style of PF Chang's only with better quality ingredients and gourmet preparation.
9/21/2013 5:00:00 PM
Stopped in for Dim Sum and had a blast! The dumplings were outstanding and melted in your mouth. I can't say enough about
The food here. Everything was exquisite and so delicious. The macarons here are the best as is the duck salad.
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Overpriced but quite good
We shared a selection of dim sum and a chicken noodle dish for lunch. Everything was delicious and inventive but we came out with an $80 bill for two, without even ordering alcohol. Incredibly overpriced when you can have incredible dim sum a few blocks away for less than half that price. No question it's a beautiful restaurant and stunning bar. We were also impressive with the unique dim sum selection and the attentive and polished service. This restaurant would be great for business meetings or to impress a date. We would definitely come back for a drinks and appetizers; maybe not for lunch because of the price.

A brand new Experience
Excellent place for small/large group gatherings, the ambience and noise level are perfect, vibrant but not crowding out others. Choices of drinks are excellent, definitely a premium drinking destination. The food is a pass, dim sums are of high standard with details, some with new designs, e.g. the Fried Dim Sum Platter, For the large plates, just wish that the salt can be brought down a bit and go lighter with the heavy sauces, they were overdosed with every saurce - Hoi Sin etc, crowding the fresh food taste, but the stir fried veggies are good. The Sweet & Sour soup is a disaster, what we could taste is vinegar and salt, they should scrap or re-work it . We're in for a few Asian sweet treats, but there is none, quite disappointing.

Beautiful decor, interesting
Beautiful decor, interesting menu choices, nice wine list and active bar scene.
. I wanted Peking duck, tried the lesser choice small plate and wished the skin was crisper.
The dim sum was interesting but did not blow me away. My favorite was the pork belly.
Not enough buns served to accompany both the pork belly and Pepu duck. When more were requested, a charge was added to the bill. Oh well, we all see service in our own way.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Three-Course Prix Fixe lunch was outstanding, but fell a little short of feeling like a good value.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything was great
Service was great. Waiter was very knowledgeable and advised about food and allergies. Sommelier was excellent.
Every bit of food was perfect in presentation and taste, wine was delicious.

The Best Chinese Food
This is haute cuisine Chinese food that is really outstanding. e.g. duck salad; dim sum, and great desserts. Fabulous for a celebratory event. Expensive but worth the price.

Excellent Chinese food
Best Chinese food we have had in the US, and we have been looking for a couple of decades. We don't bother to eat Chinese food in the SF Bay Area since it is so bad. So we were happy to find Hakkasan's food both authentic and interesting.
The reason we would not eat here frequently are: static menu, busy bar atmosphere and a large tourist clientele (which isn't really an issue), and a semi-inconvenient location for those of us who live in the western part of the city.
But the food was surprisingly good. Even my wife, a food obsessed Hong Kong-er from the colonial days thought the food was almost to the standard of the better HK restaurants.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
fantastic Asian cuisine
We had a birthday family dinner for my son. He totally enjoyed it. Food are amazing and we really love roast duck and desert.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and atmosphere, service?
This is a beautiful place. The food was excellent. However, service was incredibly slow on our main dish (45 minute wait) and food was not prepared as requested. We saw other people get apps and entries while we were waiting. However, I will give the restaurant manager credit for addressing our problems with us. Overall, I would go back again, as I think our poor service was an aberration, and the food was great.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love their Dim Sum :)) I'll give it 5 yummy Stars
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a fantastic dim sum lunch and booked for dinner later in the week. The dim sum was delicious as well as lovely to the eye.
The evening meal was extraordinary from the drinks ( one ginger the other Kiwi cucumber- yum) the mushroom veggie dish, more dim sum, and the entries braised pork belly and duck with mandarin orange. Don't forget to try the dessert.

My sistes came to SF to visit and this wss the 1st place I took them. Love the food and the cocktails! We started with crispy duck salsd and endrd with short ribs carved the table. Lots of yummy stuff in betwern.

The atmosphere can be very
The atmosphere can be very nice depending upon your seat location (you can find yourself seated looking out the window at a run-down check-cashing neon sign as well). The food is very good, but the portions are quite small for the price (making eating family style with a group of more than two people somewhat impossible). The service is excellent.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Yes, the food was excellent...but the wine list! Impressive.
First time I remember seeing both Krug's Clos du Mesnil and Clos d' Ambonnay on a list, along with 2 oz of tequila for $250! However, the organization of the wine list (by characteristics; e.g. Terroir, ...) made it very hard to find a known wine, which turned out OK in the end...we drank sake.
Looking forward to a return soon.

What a Fabulous Restaurant
We love dining at Hakkasan. The ambiance is magical and the food is delicious. Our favorite dishes are the tea smoked short rib, Shanghai dumplings and pipa duck. For dessert we tried the chocolate orange and it was wonderful. Can't wait to go back!

Great as usual! Love the food and the room. Service was fine, but have had better at Hakkasan in the past (a bit clunky this evening...). Staff is all very friendly

a remarkable dining experience
From the starters to the dessert. Everything was outstanding.

Superb Chinese Food
Everything from the decor to the service was one of the best we've had either in the west or the east. Yes, t's expensive but I'd have to go to Hong Kong to find a restaurant to equal Hakkaasan!
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
what a wonderful restaurant
Great food. Fabulous atmosphere. Don't miss the Shanghai dumplings and the fall-off-the-bone tea-smoked short rib. For dessert, the chocolate orange is great.

service at the bar was horrific
service at the table had an attitude despite the 3000.00 bill
given the experience I can't suggest another client dinner here
super sad about that given the food is so good
might visit again for friends but tooo risky for clients
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
fabulous food, wonderful service.
fabulous food, wonderful service. Very friendly and accomodating. They charge the highest corkage fee of any San Francisco restaurant i've been to, which is cheezy for such a place when one spends $150 on dinner for two, so they should look at that aspect.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM

Great dinner. Love the steamed dim sum and the Shanghai dumpling potstickers are really tasty. For dessert, loved the chocolate orange.

We enjoyed very much the experience! Next time in San francisco we will come again

Great Food, Fabulous Ambiance
We had a great dinner at Hakkasan. It took several tries before we found the right combination of dishes, but now that we have, it is our favorite restaurant in the City. For starters, don't miss the pan-seared Shanghai dumplings. They are truly the best potstickers in San Francisco. We also love the tea-smoked short rib which literally is fall-off-the-bone tender. For entrees, don't miss the wok-seared beef in merlot sauce. We also like the pipa duck which is peking duck with hoisin sauce and no bun. It's not cheap, but it is a really special place to go for dinner.

Right Out of James Bond
Immediately upon entrance you are transported into this world that is far beyond San Francisco. It's as if for those 2 hours of dinning experience that we were in a scene straight from James Bond. The ambience was impeccable and the service was top notch and of the greatest detail and customer oriented...the food was indescribable and of a caliber of its own.
8/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
The food and service at Hakkasan were excellent. The crispy duck salad had a wonderful aroma that arrived at the table just before the dish. It lived up to the wonderful scent. The fried dumplings had an unusually light and crispy wrapper that melted in our mouths. The peppered rib eye and the seafood were full of flavor and tender.
Throughout the meal the service was impeccable. Our server was friendly and attentive and we felt welcome from the minute we stepped into the entrance. The decor was wonderful and creative and the music was soft in the background.
We will be back and are anxious to go for a dim sum lunch soon.

My parents came from out of town and I wanted to take them to a nice Chinese dinner to celebrate the lunar new year (basically the Chinese Thanksgiving). Per my boyfriend there was a great scotch selection. I also had two AWESOME cocktails, the Hakka and the Green something (I can't remember the exact name, but it had kiwi). Both were exquisite.
The service from the bartenders, to our AWESOME server and the bussers was excellent. I couldn't have been happier.
My mother is Chinese so we have high expectations for asian cuisine and I must say Hakkasan met them. Very authentic and pleasantly experimental. I recommend the XO lobster, champagne cod, steamed dim sum platter and the tenderloin beef dish with Merlot.

Hakkasan, San Francisco, brings Asian Cuisine fine dining to a new level. If you're looking for a "place to be seen" or the latest "hot spot", this is it. And, if that's not enough, the food was delicious!
