Great food. Tried the Musakka
Great food. Tried the Musakka and it was great. Very tasty and the size was ample. The appetizer was a phyllo dough wrapped around spinach and cheese and then deep fried. A dipping sauce made of yogurt was available. These were great. Also, they provided rolls with olive oil with crushed olives mixed into the oil.
The service and attention was outstanding. I will definitely return to this restaurant.

Lokanta is a fairly new restaurant
Lokanta is a fairly new restaurant on Main Street in Pleasanton. It came highly recommended by a couple of friends who had eaten there. There is a varied menu with something to appeal to every appetite. The three appetizers we shared were very good, especially the meatballs and fried cheese.
The service was excellent and professional.
My one complaint was the sound level in the restaurant. We sat in the front where there were several tables which would seat six or more. We had trouble hearing the conversation among our dinner guests, and I wished that we had asked for another table.
Other than the noise level though, I would recommend this restaurant.

FANTASTIC..YOU NEED TO GO TONIGHT!
Everything was fantastic. The only other place I have been on Main street that comes close is Nonis Bistro. Lokanta has the perfect location and bulding. This was our first time there. From the street it looks like it might be empty suggesting that it is not good. Since it is fairly new we waited. After reading some of the reviews on open table we decided to try it. As you walk in and are brought to the back where most of the seating and the bar is you realize why it looks empty from the street. I am sorry we waited so long to try it. if you have not tried it you must do so. You will not be disapointed. Our waiter / bar tender was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!

A refreshing change for Pleasanton.

This was our first visit to
This was our first visit to Lokanta, but it wont be our last. The menu offered so many wonderful choices it was difficult to decide. We tried the appetizer special - shrimp in a tomato/fennel sauce topped with fontina cheese. It was fantastic! The Moussaka was delicious as were the desserts. The service was excellent. The indoor tables were pretty close together. There are also a few outdoor tables available out front.

Once again, thank you to open table. Would not have found this place were it not for you. Almost all of my dining plans and schedules is doen through open table. This places food was great. SUPER friendly staff. Food was great. Portions are so-so. The mixed grill for example gives you 2 skewers. The zucchini cakes were AMWESOME but on the small side. I know I am probably being petty but when you sepnd Almost $200 on food, you expect a little more. But nevertheless...great all around.

Great food! We had all appetizers and each of them were delicious! Love this new place and will definitely go back. Scallops were cooked just right, had lots of flavor and most importantly they were fresh! The Giant bean salad was a delite. Fresh, zesty, and yummy. Don't hesitate to try this place. You won't be disappointed.

As always from start to finish everything was great. The hostess is great and has the menues in hand when she sees us approach the door, already knowing our name and has checked for our reservation. That is the service you get from a neighborhood restaurant.
You should always go to the neighborhood privately owned businesses, that is what keeps the private economy moving.

Friendly, quality downtown dining
Lokanto is a welcome addition to downtown Pleasanton. Amidst the ubiquitous Italian restaurants it stands out. Serving Mediterranean cusine (Turkish) using many locally grown and organic ingredients they set a consistent standard of quality. The staff are always knowledgeable about the dishes, willing to adapt for a gluten-free family member and serve the meal as the diner requests. The scallops are perfect, the kebabs always delicious, the large bean appetizer a favorite. They have a great late night happy-hour which allows us to go to a movie and still get something nice to eat after 10pm. Additionally they have started seating in the alley next to the restaurant which is painted with interesting murals and is a quiet getaway area.

Making a new tradition...
My husband and I were on our way home from an afternoon Giants baseball game. I looked on Open Table for a restaurant and found Lokanta. The reviews were good so we decided to try it. It was just what we needed. Yummy food, we shared 3 appetizers for dinner that were fabulous! The scallops being the yummiest. We shared a cream brûlée each with a Turkish coffee. The service was wonderful, prompt and kind. So weare thinking this my be a new tradition of ours after the games we attend.

Will come back!
My husband and I ate here for dinner for a date night. The service was great and the food was really good. We were sat in the back part of the restaurant where the bar is, though, which was REALLY noisy! We had trouble hearing our waitress and each other. Next time we will ask to sit in the front area or outside where it seemed much quieter.

Always a great experience
Second time here and it seems that it will alwAys be a great experience. Tried the artichoke bruschetta and was not disappointed. Delicious with the right balance of flavored. Any of the appetizers are a great choice. The big bean salad is a favorite of ours. Cory our server was on point and made the experience even better.

Something different in Pleasanton
Love great middle eastern food coming to Pleasanton. Great service and great Turkish food. The back room is fun

This is a gem of a place. I love the ambiance and the decor here. It's very quaint & clean. Service is great and the staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is good, but not spectacular. I love the wine selection here. It's a great place for a date or a special occasion.

A new favorite!
We love every item on the menu that we've tried so far. The sangria is great for a hot, summer evening! The staff is extremely courteous and helpful, always checking to make sure everything is just right. We will be back again soon!

Glad that there's now a great
Glad that there's now a great Mediterranean restaurant in the Tri-Valley. As much as we love everything about this restaurant, the entrees are priced pretty high. We would come back only for special occasion.

We found our goto spot!
We have recently moved to the East Bay Area and have been looking for a good restaurant to call home. You know the one that you go to the majority of the time. The one that knows your name. The one that has great food and an atmosphere that is so welcoming you would think you are in your mother's kitchen. This restaurant is it. From the hand shake greeting to the knowledgable staff, this is the small restaurant that beats pricer establishments hands down.

We'd go back again and will.
We'd go back again and will. Our food was very very good and was served hot and looked great on the plate. My only complaint was our service was slow. We sat outside (cooler than we thought but that was our choice) but we we waited too long before we finally got waited on. After that our food and drinks were served more or less promptly with minimal wait, but the server was was aloof and not very friendly, however he was not rude per se. But we would go back again and hopefully get a more friendly server who was more prompt.

Great Food and Attentive Service
The food was excellent. We ordered the mixed grill and it was delicious. We also ordered dolma but it never came but it was not on our bill so they may have been out of some ingredients and the server forgot to mention it. We also forgot to ask about it. I fell in love with my new girl friend here so there could be something magical about the place as well. We would definitely come back again and recommend it to a friend. There was also a great selection of beer and wine and plenty of room at the bar.

One of our favorites!
I've visited Lokanta many times for lunch and dinner, and the food has always been fresh and very well prepared and creative. last time I was there, I had a lovely roasted beet salad that was a very pretty litte tower of perfectly roasted red and gold beets with a light dressing. It was simple, elegant, and delicious.

I ordered a salad and was only 1/2 finished when they brought the entree. I requested that they return it to the kitchen until I finished the salad. It was the beet salad and was delicious, but takes longer to eat.

Great food, noisy bar area
The food was truly delicious! I will be back. They have a few tables out in front on Main Street, a more lively patio / bar area in the back and an indoor dining room with a nice ambiance.

Loved the food and was pleasantly surprised with the variety and great tastes! We swapped out
veal for chicken easily--and the scallopine was delicious!
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
The waitress we had was really nice & attentive, made sure everything was to out liking. We had the chicken and lamb mix plate with the red cabbage salad, how delicious that was!
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Second time there. Rather loud for conversation. Excellent food.

The Service Was Awesome!
We walked in and a delightful man quickly ushered us to a table. Our server offered several special selections, of which I selected the all chicken shishka babhs and my wife had the lamb. Oh, what heaven! It was better than anything we could make at home, and I am a great cook. My wife adored the beet salad, which was a meal in itself. Best of all we loved the service, as it was so honest and friendly. Its nice to know that such authentic restaurants still exists.

Great new restaurant in Pleasanton
We're so happy this place opened up. We've been several times now and every time has been terrific. I've been getting the specials - usually lamb dishes - and they're superb. My wife doesn't eat lamb, so she usually sticks with chicken or vegetarian fare, and her dishes have been great, too. For my son, who's six and picky, they have a grilled chicken for kids that he absolutely scarfs up - and frankly, so would I if he didn't polish his plate.
The menu is limited, and that's a good thing! They do what they do very, very well. Highly recommended.

Grandma would be proud
Shish kebab, Manti, and, mussaka were all excellent. Dad and I remember Grandma's Manti (tiny Turkish ravioli) with yogurt and a little garlic. The chef and part owner made this simple sauce by request. Delicious. We just made the happy hour so also enjoyed calamari crisp and light, plus thin pita chips with cumin-laden humor and creamy cool tzisaki (sp ?) waiter a servers were great. Will definitely go back.

Always wonderful food and service. A little too loud on weekends, but during the week it's at a moderate level.

Good Vegetarian Choice
Good choices for vegetarians, especially the appetizers. The Spinakopita and Bruschetta were both good . We had the Roka salad and Beet salad which were also great. The Imam Biyaldi, a veg dish with eggplant and Israeli couscous was a highlight. Desserts are not noteworthy. Avoid the coffee as our espresso drinks were lukewarm and weak.
Attentive and friendly service, good energy and ambiance, small but well priced wine list.
