Birthday Made More Special
The Savoy is a wonderful place that continues to impress me every time I return on all fronts. The food and service always is amazing. This time I brought my mother here for her 60th birthday. Our server overheard us talking about her birthday and after we'd finished our (delicious) meal, brought out cava and an absolutely fantastic dessert. My mother was blown away by the gesture and can't stop talking about the great experience she had. Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant enough to anyone.

to be honest i don't recall
to be honest i don't recall looking at wines at all, however the drink list is amazing! Greenbush beer ( a small brewery and on of my favs in MI) , absinthe, cocktails. We went for the oysters, and I am a little classic about my oysters ( horseradish, cocktail sauce, lemon and hot sauce). These were serve with a roasted tomatoe sauce and lime, wassabe, and ginger sauce. They were spot on! And $2 a piece. Lobster Mac was creamy and flavorful and balanced, beet carpaccio was perfect with a minty surprise to it. We had such a great evening I ordered dessert dulce de leche lava cake with honey lavendar ice cream. Our server Paco was not only pleasant and genuine but a true professional. Overall it was the best restaurant experience in a while.

Love this place- it's a hidden gem and boutique restaurant with consistently great food and service! We went there for my husband's birthday (because he loves this place) and they were generous to not only give him a complimentary after-dinner apertif but also me.

Really great seafood restaurant. Good vibe without being too loud. Loved the kale salad and tuna tartare appetizer. Sturgeon and tuna entrees were excellent.

Great space. Excellent service.
Great space. Excellent service. Multiple seafood selections all expertly prepared, each one better than the next. Don't miss the coconut curry mussels. Vegetarians are accommodated with great seasonal selections. Unique spirits and a fun wine list. All in all, a great place in the hood for seafood!

Excellent for dinner..OK for brunch
If this were dinner my rating would be a five, but for brunch The Savoy is just good...not horrible, but nothing spectacular that would keep me coming back as a brunch regular. The music is pretty awesome though. I think The Savoy does seafood really well and should maybe theme their brunch as a seafood disco brunch and put all the other dishes to bed. Also, some sort of drink specials would be wonderful i.e. $15 bottomless mimosas.

The food was exquisite. The is a small place with very personal service. The menu and the place feel a bit continental in nature, although the menu is seafood! The preparation and treatment of the food is fantastic. Great flavors, personal service, and decent ambiance.

Making tough decisions for brunch is a bad idea...at least the reward is good food! After much contemplation we finally decided on the crab benedict and seafood mac n cheese - both were fantastic! Very relieved to actually have a decent amount of seafood in the mac and a lack of goopy sauce. Side of sauteed market vegetables was nothing special, had a fishy taste to them. The spicy bloody maries (with oyster) was fantastic.

The restaurant has a nice
The restaurant has a nice clean, crisp look to it. Plates range from $18-32, mostly in the 20-29 range. The pork belly, scallops with kale plate was the best from the table, which luckily I ordered. :) The mussels were really nice in the coconut curry sauce. The wine, we had the Soave, which is just like it sounds 'Suave' smooth. Overall a nice place for dinner.

We were a party of 6 and all
We were a party of 6 and all of us but 1 thought the food was outstanding. The one who didnt had the same dish as 2 others but hers was lukewarm and the pork was dry. I shared mussels (in an amazing broth!) as well as the winter salad (well portioned and great mix of textures) before my entree of arctic char (perfectly cooked and nicely paired with crisp vegetable ribbons). The minor flaw from my standpoint was food delivery. The starters were not served at the same time and while two trips to bring the dishes if immediately following each other would be OK, the last of us waited more than a few minutes for the dish. This happened again with the entrees. I dont find this acceptable in this caliber of a restaurant and hope they fix it.

Great Brunch Spot
Seafood focused neighborhood spot in Wicker Park. My favorites have been the Shrimp Etouffee and the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Unfortunately, the lobster BLT was a miss :( Would have been MUCH better served on a soft roll. Mimosas and Savoy Snapper were great cocktails. The decor and environment is cute and welcoming.

Delicious Drinks, Creative Brunch
Cereal milk drinks are really interesting and delicious. I'm not a huge fan of milk cocktails, but I think these are definitely worth a try. My bloody mary was incredible and came with an oyster and a big hunk of bacon. Our server was fantastic and really gave us some good opinions. The food was not traditional brunch fare (omelettes, benedicts, etc), but had some really creative options like shrimp etouffee, banana bread french toast (INCREDIBLE), and new takes on old favorites (lox on toast points with pork belly cream cheese, pickled onions, and toasted capers).
Overall this was a great find, not too expensive for brunch but has a great vibe (not overly popular, yet).

Yummy date night spot
Great drink menu. Loved the Sweet (sweet) Jane, which wasn't too sweet, as well as the Savoy 75. The beet and goat cheese salad is a must. Skip the ceviche. Arctic Char dinner was tasty!
We sat on a round hightop by the kitchen. It wasn't too noisy distracting; we liked it.
The staff is unbelievably friendly!

Everything was wonderful!
The food and teh service were fabulous, as were the drinks. I had the special, the octopus risotta- Yum!

Dinner after Theatre
We first visited based on Chicago
Magazines Hot List. It's now our favorite dinner destination after a Sunday matinee. We enjoy the seafood selections and have yet to be disappointed. The food is well prepared with great flavors and presentation. The staff is knowledgable, friendly, and attentive.

Went here for "date night" on Saturday and was blown away. Really really good food, outstanding service and at reasonable prices. The BF and I had oysters on the half shell (6), bone marrow, a crispy kale salad (they gave us this on the house), Artic Char entree, pork belly and scallops entree and three drinks all for $150. I was really impressed and will definately be back! This is a great spot and in a good neighborhood where food choices are a plenty. Definately go!

Great food, excellent service
The food at The Savoy is delicious. We loved everything from the burrata and crispy vegetable salad, to the oysters and tuna tartare, and the pork belly. The waitress, Jade, was incredibly helpful and sweet, taking extra time to explain the cocktails and offering her opinion on various food and drink items. Because the drink list is a bit exotic, without the extra attention provided by Jade, it would have been difficult to piece together such an amazing pairing of food and drink.
6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
My family and I had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and different from the typical in this type of restaurant. We felt it was worth every penny. This is a great place for date night or a special occasion.

Food and service are 5 stars
The fish and vegetables were the best we had in a long time, and for sure the best in the 4 days in Chicago.
Sauces where innovative, vibrant and delicious. All the ingrdient tasted very fresh
Service was impeccable as well, our waiter Paco super knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful.
The only complain I have is the light i the back room which is already decorated very dark and kept very dim
It may work for a romantic dinner, but not for us out with family; did not like the room at all
(front of the restaurant seemed much nicer)

Great service, clean and delicious seafood. Have been there four times and each time was excellent!

1) Service - Honestly, possibly the best service I have had in recent memory. Our waiter was knowledgeable but not pretentious. He made good suggestions and was not afraid to steer us from different dishes or drinks.
2) Food - Delish. All of it. Mussels - A, Salads --A+, Barrumndo --A, Crispy Fish A+
3) Drinks - Delish. All of it. Absinthe + Wine --A+
4) Ambiance - Perfect--quiet enough, energetic enough, and a very attractive restaurant

The Savoy has been recommended, and we finally went on Saturday night. The Absinthe choices and presentation were phenominal (a glass pitcher dropping distilled water over a beautiful sugar cube held over the drink on an elegant silver holder). Although primarily seafood, my boyfriend raved over the hangar steak. My oysters were extra special due to the 3 uniquely different sauces, and my Whitefish was clean and fresh tasting. The bourbon/maple ice cream went perfectly with tawny port for dessert. Beyond just the Absinthe, the drink menu was very inspired, from a Pimm's Cup, to a Strawberry beer, to a beautiful dry French Rose. We will definitely be back!
7/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
Really really nice inside. Don't let the Curb view fool you. This place is decorated top notch inside, with a open kitchen in the front and a large bar in the back. The service was excellent and very attentive. This place is a year old but the staff is so good you think they have been around 5 years. This service is what I expect in River North, not a local neighborhood restaurant.

Grade: A Plus!
Had dinner with a party of 5 and GREAT experience overall, everyone raved! Food is top-notch: well-developed, rich, balanced flavors that are not overly complicated. Seafood was very fresh. Everyone got a different cocktail and they were all superb -- unique and well executed. Excellent service, too. Will definitely be back soon.

My husband and I came here this weekend and our experience was fantastic. We arrived early for our reservation and sat at the bar. They were able to accommodate us right away but we wanted to have a drink first. The bartender/manager or owner greeted us right away. Her knowledge about different cocktails and absinth was phenomenal. She created a delicious drink for myself and even let us try absinth since we had never done it the right way. The barramundi fish was to die for and highly suggest it for anyone who enjoys fish. Going back soon!

Very hip place for some seafood and Absinthe ...
A Must try !!!

great absinthe and food
Excellent all around. Server was friendly and informative without being overbearing. I ordered the skirt streak and ed extremely happy with it! I am a bit of a food snob, but my two friends and I will definitely return. We went for the absinthe. They had a large selection and were Herat helping irs choose. They have straight absinthe and mixed drinks. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food, slow drinks
The food is excellent especially if you are a seafood junkie. The only knock to this restaurant was that our drinks took 15 minutes to make. I would suggest just ordering wine.

Fantastic Meal and Great Service
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at The Savoy. Every dish that came out was delicious and cooked perfectly. The burrata salad with kale and vegetables was outstanding. The ambiance is lovely, the lighting is just right and the interior is classy and hip. We had a wonderful server who really made our meal special.

Savoy cuisine does not disappoint
Savoy was surprisingly quiet. The place was virtually empty. Good for us; we got a nice table right up front. The atmosphere is mono-chromatic and reminded me of early sepia-tinted photos from the 1800s. Drink menu features absinthe-themed cocktails. We tried White Peach Reviver straight up in a martini coup. The real star at this place is the food. We shared several appetizers: tar tare, ceviche and the crispy kale served with flaky tortillas. Entrees were excellent. The only downer was the server. Complete lack of passion and enthusiasm for any of the dishesand generally unattentive throughout the meal. Support staff was good including hostesses who were very friendly. I recommend Savoy particularly if you love seafood.

Sad I waited this long...
I went to The Savoy on a Saturday night with a friend prior to a party. It had been on my list for awhile, and I just hadn't made it. Not only was the food fantastic (I had pork belly with scallops and she had swordfish and we shared some oysters), and the drinks list interesting (we had a great bubbly hard cider), the service was also great. My friend has celiac, and we were fairly sure her original dish would be fine. The chef however sent the server back quickly to explain his concern over the grain and he recommended a safer option. I thought it was great that the chef was so clued into people's food allergies. I would go back her with friends, on a date, or with family...it was great!

LOVE this place
If you haven't tried Savoy, you are missing out. It's a warm, comforting spot to go with friends, on a date, or with parents. I love the food, the preparation and the service. Actually the service is what keeps me coming back. Friendly staff who is ALWAYS willing to answer any question and go out of their way to make sure you get what you want. Hurry and go to this place - it's amazing.

Great Client Dinner
Our Savoy experience was flawless. Our server Brittany was fun and entertaining when guiding us through the menu. We had the Halibut Carbonara with the spaghetti squash, now my new favorite dish in Wicker Park thanks to Chef Cecil Rodriguez. This was a great client dinner experience, the staff, food and atmosphere were top notch and it was still quiet enough to have effective conversation.

Very good food and service
While the Savoy specializes in fish and seafood, one of our party ordered the pork chop and couldn't say enough about how good it was. We have also enjoyed the kale salad (only bad thing about it was its diminutive size), and a variety of items from the sea, including scallops, whitefish, and barramundi. All really delicious. Service is attentive to a fault. Drinks are well made. We would happily return.

Only complaint was that the back room was too dark....had to use the flashlight on my phone to see the menu AND to see each course before I ate it. Food was delicious!

Great date night spot
We met up with another couple for dinner before a show at the Den Theatre. The Savoy was recommended by a friend who is very "in the know" about yummy trendy restaurants. She nailed it! The food was unbelievable...everyone loved every dish. We ordered salmon, prime rib, crab cake, ahi tuna, beet salad and crispy vegetables. Waiter was amazing. Hostess was amazing. We had to rush to get to our show. I wish we could have stayed and hung out. We'll be back for sure!

Great service for great food
The standout of our dinner was our waitress. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and gave great recommendations. The latter resulted in perfect drinks for everyone. We greatly enjoyed the absinthe demonstration!!
As for the food, the halibut, swordfish, and pork belly/scallops dishes were fantastic - all cooked to the right temperature, flavorful sauces, and great portions. The appetizers did not hit the mark as closely: hamachi ceviche was fresh but lacked flavor and contrast. I could not taste any of the items described in the menu. Coconut curry mussels had a phenomenal broth, but a rather small portion of large shells (not necessarily large mussels inside...and a few empty shells).

Great spot, sit in the back
Had a great experience at The Savoy. We arrived half an hour early for our reservation and had a drink at the bar in the back. Very cool ambiance in the bar and back areas of the restaurant, cozy and intimate. Downside is that we still were not seated until 20 minutes after our reservation time and were sat in the front which was a much different atmosphere.
Food was great and worth the wait. Drinks were creative and tasty. Definitely plan to go back and will add a special request to sit in the back.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Saturday night: Our server was knowledgeable and helpful. The Ceviche had just the right amount acid. Be wary of the "smoked sauce" that comes with the oysters - it's not bad, but brings a BBQ-style element to Oysters???? You've been forewarned! Try the Beet/Goat Cheese Salad - you won't regret it! All of us enjoyed our entrees: Halibut, Pork Belly/Scallops, and the Ahi Tuna. The White Bordeaux was a nice accompaniment to all our dishes - unfortunately, they didn't have a second bottle. Thus, the reason for the 4 stars not being 5. While our server tried her best to find us a similar bottle, it just wasn't exactly what we wanted. Knowledgeable wait staff, Innovative dishes, and energetic atmosphere. A place where we will definitely return!

This was a great experience with excellent food and very good service. I also love that The Savoy realizes people need room to eat. There are booths throughout the restaurant which makes this a much more comfortable experience.
