Local PR Guy
Had the occasion to catch up with an old friend. Our server (darling guy by the way) seemed to know how to be attentive without smothering us. Great training!! The food was drop dead fabulous and we had the best time without feeling rushed or bothered. Keep up the great job!

We loved the diverse local
We loved the diverse local wine selection although they were out of the first two bottles we wanted. The menu was short but still made it difficult to choose from the fabulous locally sourced entrees. We enjoyed the grilled bread appitizer, grilled pork loin, and sheppard's pie special for St. Patrick's day. We'd love to return and enjoy the patio when it gets warmer.

I've been to Equinox for brunch
I've been to Equinox for brunch twice, and I loved it both times. They had great breakfast food, reasonable prices and yummy drink options. This was my first time that I have attended for dinner. The prices were notably higher. I think my entree was $17, which seemed a little too high. Our waitress acted impatient that it was taking my group a while to decide what we wanted – this seemed strange since there were only a few other full tables in the restaurant. We enjoyed our food and dining experience, but wished it was a little more inexpensive.

My husband and I received
My husband and I received a gift certificate to Equinox from our daughter for our 19th anniversary. It was a nice lovely and super yummy restaurant. We will most definitely return.

I've been to Equinox several
I've been to Equinox several times over the past 2-3 years and recently tried their brunch. Service is good, as is the food, wine list and cocktails. At brunch, I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was delicious -- an abundance of condiments, veggies, and the right dash of spice!

Hadn't been back for about two years and it's better than ever! Won't wait that long again--great patio for summer dining with friends.

Food was good. Prices were reasonable. Service was a little slow at first but got better. I would like to back during summer and eat on their beautiful court yard.

The food is well-prepared
The food is well-prepared with hearty portions. The wines are good and reasonably priced. We tried a cocktail made of lilac syrup gin lime soda and grenadine which was amazing. The service is swift but also low-key. On a nice evening the outside patio is lovely.

Though we ha been here before
Though we ha been here before a handful of times, we had not when the weather was nice enough to utilize the patio dining, until now. And the patio was wonderful. Of course the food and cocktails were awesome, as we were expecting.

The chick pea crepes were fabulous and I adore the rhubard-strawberry mojito. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back.

Equinox is in the hip and
Equinox is in the hip and cool Mississippi neighborhood in North Portland. It's around the corner from the buzz so you feel like you found your little hideaway with a great patio for outdoor dining. Wait staff always friendly and food great. We are loyal customers who love our neighborhood gems. Equinox is genuinely one of them!
4/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
joy! grateful from La Grande.
the air temp was perfect outdoors, the food was outstanding and this place is in my friend's neighborhood, too boot. The reservation was fine, but when we arrived we found out that Open Table reservations are not for the patio and we went to Equinox b/c it had a patio so we had to wait for a table.. not a bad wait though by Portland standards, especially with the help of Porltandia Martini.

Mother's Day Brunch
We are VERY glad we used Open Table for our Mother's Day brunch reservation! There was a long line of folks who didn't have one, so it was quite nice to be escorted right to our table. They even had a red rose for my wife, as a Mother's Day gift. A nice touch!
The food was really good. My wife had a vegetarian scramble, which she really enjoyed. I had the creme brulee French toast, which was delicious...though it was just 1 modestly-sized slice. While I didn't leave hungry, I definitely could have fit in another slice. :-)
This was our first brunch at Equinox, as we've always come for dinner, in the past. But we'll definitely be back for more brunches. Their patio is amazing, and there's tons to do on Mississippi, before & after.
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
We came during happy hour with a party of 7. Loved the food, loved the attentive and friendly service, loved the prices. We'll be back.

Solid Service & Food
As always, the service make the difference, and Equinox did a really nice job . . . particularly for a very busy evening. My spouse started with a simple salad, and I ordered the calamari. Both were very good, particularly the calamari. For the main course, my spouse had the mussels and I had the burger with bacon. For a town with excellent burgers, this one held it's own. The highlight was the mussels, as they were plumb and juicy. Plus, the sauce was so good that we took it home and used it for a stir fry the next day. Wow. That was delicious too. Thanks, Equinox. We finished with the fresh apple crisp, which was sized perfectly to end a meal.
5/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
We started with the calamari and a mixed green salad. Both were delicious and sized just right for the two of us. My spouse had the mussels and I had the burger with bacon. In a town with many great hamburgers, this one holds its own for sure. It came with fries, which - again - were sized right for the meal, as I was plenty satisfied. The highlight though were the mussels . . . tender and the broth was so good that we took it home to enhance another meal. Equinox was pretty busy, yet our server was properly attentive and paced the meal well. We finished with the fresh apple crisp, that was sized perfectly and very tasty! Well done, Equinox! In addition, we did watch the sunset against the trees and it was very picturesque.

Extremely nice wait staff,
Extremely nice wait staff, four of us ordered several Happy Hour items which we all shared due to the generous amounts and then we were nearly too full to eat our main dishes which were also very good.
5/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Loved the bread salad and pork tenderloin. Great flavors and nice patio area. As a female dining alone, I appreciate the warm welcome given upon my arrival, and the good service throughout the meal.

Fabulous restaurant for all meals
Equinox breakfast, lunch, or dinner is wonderful. The staff are always friendly, happy and very good at their jobs. The food is
fabulous and very reasonably priced- wish they would give out some recipes..... I go there often and will continue to do so and have recommended to many friends.
6/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and atmosphere. They always come up with tasty and unusual specials and have an excellent mixologist making drinks.
6/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
Server was very accommodating to figure out a no-added salt dinner choice for my husband. Also, there was a mix-up over well drinks, and waiter came back to re-explain the policy...which turned out to be good news. Well drinks are always only $4.00. I got a delicious strawberry daquiri (shaken, not frozen). We ate inside, but next to the open garage style door looking onto the patio. The baked ziti was a wonderful creamy, cheesy dish for my dinner. My husband had the flat iron steak, plated out very attractively.. We would definitely go again.
6/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice romantic dinner
Food was really good (love the mushroom bites) and the waitress we had was very good. The hostess kind of ignored us and wasn't very welcoming. But overall a very good experience.
6/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice evening for conversation
The meal was excellent and the service the same. Starving, so took table indoors; not as great for ambience as the patio, but able to hold conversation without any problem. Nice evening overall.

Great Food, Slow Service, Warm Wine
I was there with a party of six and the service was extremely slow. I was told that ownership cut two people that night and only left one person to serve, bus tables and to tend bar, which was a bad move! In addition, they do not properly store their red wine with the correct temperature, so when they served our table the two bottles of wine, they were extremely warm and they needed to bring an ice bucket and ice cubes to make the wine taste better (pretty ghetto)!
The food is very good at this restaurant, but they need to work on their service and properly scheduling staff because we felt bad for the server!

Equinox just off Mississippi
This defies the gluten free, hip but not refined food that is the norm in north Portland. Not too expensive. I had an interesting wine by the glass and the food was lovely and delicate. Most memorable was amazingly perfect red snapper, pan fried with a very light and tasty sauce underneath. The garden in which we ate was quiet and peaceful.
My only regret is that with the wild mushroom crepes, imaginative salad and starter which we shared, there was no space for dessert.

Equinox is an excellent restaurant
I met some out of town friends here and we had a great time. Our server was knowledgeable, funny, and recommended a few dishes. I had the Smoked Salmon Spaeztle, WOW. Delicious, it did have some spicy heat, but that made the dish. Good wine selection also.

Eqinox patio loviness
My date and I had a lovely dinner. The food was incredible and the cocktail list was creative and imaginative. Muddled basil in the cocktail was such a lovely touch. We can't wait to get back and try more of what this great restaurant has to offer.

Recent service cuts
The quality of the food remains high at Equinox, but on each of the last two occasions we've had slow service. It appears that there are insufficient staff to cover the tables, combined with some bad choices or staff training. For example, when a glass of wine is ordered when the entree arrives, that order needs to be given to the bar before (e.g.) a large table places it order (a process that takes 5-10 minutes), or the wine will arrive after the main course has been eaten. This is just one example -- we've had two or three such situations on each visit, with two completely different staff members. If this happens again, we'll probably stop visiting Equinox.

I would say it is 2/3 done
First off - Equinox is a neat place. A large garden courtyard for dining and a rollup garage door that on warmer days brings the indoors and outdoors a little closer together. It is a great place to dine with people and be. It is comfortable, A great place for dinner or just a bottle of wine and some plates (I would say small plates, but I did not see anything "small." Portions were ample across the board.) Food was good, but inconsistent. Among the several appetizers and entrees I tried, the standouts were a salad and the mussels. Sampling the entries most were good, but nothing stood out. The burger was a disappointment. Going back I would probably stick to salads and appetizers in the courtyard with a bottle of wine.

The special was so amazing.
The special was so amazing. Confit of chicken and bacon with goat cheese, gnocchi and greenbeans! To die for.

Good in a town of Great
My experiences at Equinox have been hit and miss. I love the atmosphere and patio, but the food is my consistently great across the board. I really enjoy the brunches (partially because its a bit of a hidden gem and you can usually get a seat on the weekends.)
Dinner, however, is nothing to get super excited about. Out of the four entrees at our table, 2 were fabulous and 2 were ok.
If you want to bring out-of-town folks here, it will be a solid choice. In a city of killer foodie joints at every corner, however, Equinox doesn't shine.

great place for casual celebration
My wife and I celebrated her 39th birthday for the 39th time. We were seated outdoors ( her favorite) and for a Saturday night it was moderately crowded. The food was was very good from the calamari appetizer to the peach cobbler dessert. We could easily maintain a conversation with the noise level not a problem with the outdoor setup. We will go in a week to a bigger family celebration at a nosier restaurant, but the Equinox was a great location for a casual intimate small celebration.

Over cooked snapper is very disappointing. The rest of the meal is awesome. Great Grilled Caesar!!!!!

Fun and super yummy
Fun cocktails, fabulous!! food, service is wonderful. the prices are great! Being from the west side of town, we forget how much the better the prices are on the east side of the Willamette. And the food is usually better, too. Lord knows the wonderful people are much more to my liking.

Great Mississippi District find?
We stumbled on Equinox because we were able to get a reservation at the time we wanted. Lovely outdoor patio area; great service; great food. the polento fries with the chili sauce were wonderful and the rest of the food equally as good. In the fun Mississippi district, but down a side street which helped with noise. High recommend.

A great place for a 40th Birthday
The entire experience went very well from the online table reservation, the prices, the food and the drinks. The service was attentive and I didn't have to wait forever to get the check and get it run as often happens at other establishments.
About the only issue was parking but that is something ubiquitous to the area given the neighborhood. I've been to the area many times so I knew I might end up parking far away. As it turned out, I was lucky and found a good spot much closer than I expected.
My wife had previously been there for brunch and loved it. I want to return to try this for myself. As for dinner, both my wife and I felt it was an excellent place for her 40th birthday dinner.
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great little place, only steps off the much more hectic Mississippi area. Very relaxing atmosphere for outside dining. We had the chanterelles and polenta fries for appetizers both were top notch. I had the red snapper entree. It was cooked just right and extremely flavorful with a great dill sauce. My partner had the chicken breast and it, too was superb. The prices were extremely reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients and the skilled preparation. Our waiter was also great - just right combination of friendly helpfulness without being overly hovering. We both really enjoyed this place and highly recommend it. We will certainly be back.

Great brushetta, steak? not so much
The food was great with the exception of the steak. We ordered the rib-eye steak and it was very tough. The flavor was good, but it was too hard to chew. Rib-eye should not be tough at all. We told our waitress and she said she would tell the kitchen and we never heard anything back. Needless to say we didn't eat the steak, but rather took it home for the dogs.

we LOVED our meals (spaghetti squash crepes for me and the pork loin in the porcini jus for my hunny).
my French Kiss drink was tasty - I ordered two!
we prefer quieter venues...but it we had a GREAT time and will encourage others to eat there.
on a nice evening the patio must be fabulous!

Accessable Foodie Experiance
Wonderfully creative dishes without stretching your comfort level too much. Perfectly seasoned, very fresh and seasonal dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Affordably unique cuisine
This is the 2nd time my wife I have been here, and we had a wonderful meal. It is very reasonably priced which means you do not have to skimp on courses. Entrees are not huge, so strongly advise ordering an appetizer - you won't be disappointed. Excellent beer, wine and cocktail selection. Only minor complaint this time was on the choices of deserts - only 4 on the menu that did not appeal to either of us. But we'll be back!

Love this restaurant!
Equinox has become one of my favorite restaurants! The menu is always different and the service is friendly. I love the atmosphere-so comfortable and cozy.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
We weren't sure how kid-friendly this would be on a Saturday morning. No kid menus but we noticed a number of other parents with young children (all well behaved) so that was a plus as our 5 year old son, Zander was quite excited to try "Zander's Craving" a stuffed french toast. After eating every last bite he declared we should move to Portland (we live near Salem) so we could eat at that restaurant all the time as it was the best! We were actually all pleased with our meal. The 4 year old loved the stuffed crepes and my husband's hash was top notch he said. I had the puff pastry pillow with veggies and poached egg and it was very delicious! But my husband and I both agreed that the signature Equinox coffee was THE BEST.

Found out about this this place because of a Living Social deal. Went for brunch before it got busy. Coffee was first rate, food was fresh and service was fast and friendly -we will be back

Great brunch, good service
I had brunch with my GF and two friends we'd just met. It was a wonderful time made more so by our waitperson. The food was prompt and fresh, hot and delicious. I have been here many times and will continue to come because of all this. A true gem.

everything dining out should be
This meal and dining experience was near perfect. The wait staff was personable and friendly, but not hovering. Food came in a timely manner and was original and delicious. The place was quiet enough for the one hard of hearing that struggles w/ dinner conversation in loud restaurants, but busy enough not to scare me off (ie, what don't I know that everyone else knows about not eating here?) . They were out of the pork, which was apparently a favorite, but seemed kind of early to be running out of food.
The waitress was darling -- fun, efficient and helpful suggesting other NE places.
The menu is not expansive, but choices for all.
Outside seating when weather permits, looks oh so inviting. We will return.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a delightful evening--the server was so pleasant even though some in our group were late and we held the table most of the evening. We ordered a variety of things and everyone liked their food. We appreciated the ambience with candles and NO .loud blaring music so we could have conversation. I had been there before but none of the others had and they all said that they would be back. Also, I went there last summer and they have a lovely patio for outdoor dining in good weather.
