Room for improvement
Dining at Raps has always been a special-occasion experience for us due to the menu prices. Our booth seating was comfortable and the table was clean and neat. The coconut shrimp were a great start; salads followed in good time. The tossed greens were very good; the Caesar was a bit on the salty side - couldn't eat the anchovies because of the saltiness of the rest of the salad. The main course arrived at the table after an unusually long delay, purportedly caused by waiting for the lamb chop to finish. However, the lamb chop was overcooked, so the entrees could have been served sooner. The mixed fresh veggies with the lamb chop were a bit bland. Overall, a good but not an outstanding dining experience.

We went expecting a great dining experience and were not disappointed. Service was excellent and food wonderful.

The food was terrific. Loved
The food was terrific. Loved the scallops in the lobster bisque, diablo on horseback, and the clam chowder with the sourdough bread. I've had better prime rib, but it was still very tasty. Our only complaint is on the staff.. We had an older lady wait on us, and the restaurant seemed to be unusually slow for a Friday night, yet she was running around like it was full. She barely gave us any time to be friendly, but she did get our order right. We did seem to have to wait for drink refills, but other than that our dining experience was great. Definitely will return when we come back to Reno.

Rapscallion is the BEST!
As always, our experience at your restaurant on Saturday was superb. It was for a special occasion, and it was a perfect evening. The food, the employees, the wine, the ambience all came together for the BEST evening we've had in a long time.

Nice Hot Lunch
I've known the Rapscallion for years and with any restaurant being open for 35 years (that's if you find a restaurant that old) it has its ups and downs. This place is DEFINITELY on it's way UP. Come check it out.... again. You liked it then and you'll like it again.

My son and I went on a "date" here. I would not say that this place is kid-friendly, but they were VERY sweet and attentive to my child (he is only 5) I was very impressed with their service and food. And the fact that they took extra steps to be so sweet to my child won me over. They have a customer for life in me, I can't wait to return. Not to mention that the food is outstanding!! Love love this place!

First time back in Reno in
First time back in Reno in years & this place was fabulous as it always has been!
7/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Terrific seafood and reasonably priced. Best French onion soup I've ever had. It was my friend's birthday - - he loves paella. Even though it wasn't on the menu that evening, the chef made it for him - - then came out to see how he liked it. Can't say enough good things about Rapscallions.

Nice Dinner.. Love the Booths
The food was great, but especially like the private booths.
8/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a great relaxing lunch with delicious food and time to visit with family without feeling pressured to leave.
8/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food and service...
We've had lunch here several times recently and have been very pleased with the food and service. We also enjoy the decor with the 'British Pub' feeling and the low noise level. The menu is well thought out for a lunch service with many tasty options and reasonable pricing. There is off street parking and a small outdoor patio area.

"Fabulous Dining Experience"
We thoroughly enjoyed our first dining experience for dinner at Rapscallion. The food was delicious and the service prompt and courteous. Can't wait to go back again!
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent food & service. Food was perfectly prepared, well seasoned. We had a very enjoyable evening.

Always reliable for a great meal
We've been eating at the Rap since it opened in, well, the distant past. We usually ask for one of the private cabins and always find something on the menu (usually MANY somethings, forcing a hard choice) that pops us out of our usual food groups and tickles our senses. They're a seafood house, so you can't go wrong with anything that originally lived in a wet habitat as your choice, but their steaks, pastas and other offerings are stellar, as well. Nice wine list with something excellent for every budget and top notch service round out the experience.

My husband and I usually split a meal but neither of us wanted to share. Both fish dishes were perfectly prepared. Our waiter was very experienced and helpful. This restaurant will be on our MUST DO list any time we're in Reno.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first time at Rapscallions. We were pleasantly surprised at the cozy & elegant décor inside. Nice booths and tables, set with white table cloths. We told our waiter it was our first time visiting the restaurant and she went over the menu and specials with us. Since it was 1/2 price bottles of wine Monday, we ordered Frank Family chardonnay, at the suggestion of our waiter, It was excellent. My spinach salad was very nice as was my salmon on wild rice. My husband had the house salad and swordfish, For dessert we shared the flourless chocolate cake, and it was delicious. We will return soon! Oh, and they gave us chocolate chip muffins to take home, which were very nice with coffee in the morning!
8/25/2013 5:00:00 PM
Love this restaurant, The food is always great as well as the service.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Even though we had a reservation, we were placed in the very back corner of the restaurant near a very noisy group where we sat on the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat on. Booths are definitely a must at this restaurant.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Again a great date night with the wife food was excellent service the best what more need I say truly the best
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
This restaurant is a favorite over the years as a place to go to share a special occasion. Where our table was located it was like we had our own private room.

Seafood and More...
Seafood and More...
The food was great and the presentation was appealing.
Seafood always good, but the steak my son ordered was excellent, tool.
Always on the lively side while still conveying a neighborhood appeal.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
If you go, get the Diablos on Horeback (Grilled scallops Florentine in a bacon cream sauce), New England clam chowder (also with bacon!), and the Sand dabs! It was all so AMAZING!
It's a nice, homey place. The service was impeccable.

Nice dinner before Tchaikovsky
Had dinner here on a quiet September Tuesday evening. Enjoyed happy hour drinks in the bar and then moved into the main dining area. Had a delicious salmon dinner. Cheesecake and bread pudding desserts were terrific. Service and atmosphere was great!
9/9/2013 5:00:00 PM
As usual - when we visit Reno we have dinner one evening at Rapscallions. All three of us had wonderful meals and the wine that was suggested by the wait staff was delicious. All in all another reason to return on our next trip!
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
As always, Rapscallion proved to be the fantastic restaurant it has always been. Four of us met for dinner to enjoy a family get-together. We always choose Rapscallion for special occasions for all the amenities it offers. Our waiter, Tui, was great. He's waited on us before and we always appreciate his efficiency, cheerfulness, and knowledge.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first trip to Rapscallions! My husband and I hadn't been out on a date (just the two of us) since before our 12-week old was born. This was a great experience. The calamari as an appetizer had a very light batter and was cooked perfectly. My husband had the French onion soup and I had a Caesar's salad. Both were good. When our entrees arrived, my halibut wasn't cooked all the way through, by Matt, our waiter, took it back immediately and it came back cooked and was fabulous. The baked caramel custard had the best texture of any custard I have ever eaten (and I have had a lot)!! We had a fantastic date night!!

Experience San Francisco in Reno!
We love this place. We live over sixty five miles away, but occasionally find an excuse to go to Reno so we can visit the Rapscallion for dining. It is a great place for lunch and for dinner or even for cocktails. The service is always good and the serving staff seems to care about their customers. A must visit if you are in the Reno area!
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Crab cakes were excellent. Bar and table service friendly and informed on wine selections and dishes.
9/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
wonderful dining experience
Being a foodie I am notoriously hard to impress when dining out, my experience at rapscallions was very memorable, the service was great and the food was totally awesome. we will be visiting again the next time we are in Reno.

Good Food, Great Service
This is primarily a seafood restaurant, but their beef and chicken offerings are also very good, unlike some other "seafood" restaurants. The interior is dark wood, with many little booths, and is quite old and very elegant. One of the waiters, named Tui, has been there for over 20 years, and is excellent. And the bar pours what you asked for, so you don't get "bar scotch" when you order something you like,
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Been here for years and stable. Always good. Great wait staff same for at least a decade.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was great as always,
The food was great as always, new menu items, old favorites. The waiter was extremely nice as usual. Ask for him, his name is Tui.The wait between the salads and the entrée was way too long, 35 minutes! Must have been an off night or the ticket got lost...no excuse!
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
They do the Main Thing Very Well
I've eaten at Rapscallion several times and the thing I have come to appreciate is that they do the core of their menu very well. The sea bass, the steaks, the lobster and the steamed clams are all great. If there is a weakness it is when you go outside the core such as the baked goat cheese appetizer we enjoyed the other evening. I've had that elsewhere and while good, it could have been better. The wine selection is fantastic and reasonable. In fact, on Monday when we went it was 1/2 price night on each bottle - any bottle. We enjoyed some very nice wine at bargain prices.

Best Seafood Restaurant in Reno
Without a doubt the best seafood restaurant in Northern Nevada. They serve outstanding New England Clam Chowder and their sourdough bread is served fresh and warm with soft butter, just the way I like it. Excellent selection of entrees so that everyone can find something they like on the menu. Special entrees include fish, shellfish and steaks. They will make you any kind of sauce or topping you like on your fish.
10/21/2013 5:00:00 PM
I wanted to take my Mom to a great place, and, Rapscallion was it! Our Dinner was on Thursday night, and, she is still talking about what a great meal we had! We will return.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent & creative seafood.
Excellent & creative seafood. Decent winelist. Good service and friendly atmosphere. Visited Reno last year & tried Rapscallion. When I returned to Reno again last week this was the restaurant I chose to return to. It did not disappoint!
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
My party thought the restaurrant
My party thought the restaurrant was a little shabby, and the waiter was shakey but attentive. So they was some trepidation, but the food was fabulous and we all had a good time
11/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
I have been to Rapscallion's a number of times over the years and have always had an excellent experience. My most recent trip was no exception: Diablo on Horseback, Stuffed Halibut, and my Raspberry Custard desert were all well prepared. Because we can count on having a wonderful time, we have gone on many special occasions but pricing is reasonable enough to attend at other times as well.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
Everything was wonderful. Had to wait awhile to be seated while the hostess talked on the phone, but once we were seated, the waiter was great and the food to die for. Loved it.
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
As always the food was quite good. There were three of us and at least one of the entrées was in the "excellent" range. We dined in a "cabin" for the quiet and that was very nice. I recommend these more private booths highly to those seeking an alternative to restaurants with an "energetic" sound level. This environment is an excellent choice when conversation is an important part of the experience.
One quibble I have also notice in previous visits and while the overall service is good, there were long periods of time when our waiter did not visit.
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great overall dining expereience.
Appetizers were delicious and the wine list very notable! Although we had heard they are known for their yummy seafood, we were feeling an appetite for something more substantial. We ordered steaks, and although not terrible...we'll order seafood entrees next time ;)

Quality Dining Experience
I htink Rapscallion's is the best seafood restaurant in Reno. Good servie and food is well prepared.

Enjoyable Thanksgiving Dinner
Rapscallion's was open for Thanksgiving Dinner for the first time in many years. My wife and I really enjoyed our meal. In addition to four-course Turkey and Ham dinners (soup, salad, entrée and dessert), the full menu was available. My wife had the Limestone salad and mixed grill and shared my pumpkin cheesecake. I had the butternut squash soup, arugula salad with cranberries, turkey with dressing. Great nice atmosphere and a great way to celebrate the holiday!

Seafood on Thanksgiving
Went here for a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed it very much. The Shrimp Provencal appetizer was delicious, and the salads (one house, one iceberg, one spinach with bacon dressing) as well as the French Onion soup were delightful. Both the Chilean Sea Bass and the Swordfish were beautifully prepared. Atmosphere is old school Reno; a little dark but cozy, service was quite good (our young waiter has a few things still to learn, but his attitude was excellent and that goes a long way in our book). The wine list is above par, prices are fair for one of Reno's classic restaurants- overall a lovely option for our holiday dinner. We'll be back.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great date night!
Setting up reservations was easy even though it was right after a holiday! The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was great! We both had steak; which was perfectly done, and the wine was amazing. This place was the perfect spot I was looking for, for our date! Thank you!!

Best seafood in Reno
We are seafood lovers, and find few places in Reno for really good seafood. We have stopped looking, and just go to Rapscallion regularly. Try it some Monday when wine by the bottle is half price.
11/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
Steak and Seafood
Rapscallion is the place for really good, consistently high-quality steak and seafood, prepared by a knowledgeable, competent chef. The bar has live music some nights and a lovely ambiance. During warm weather, there is outside dining on the brick patio and often music, although it's not particularly scenic. This is an old-fashioned seafood and steak house, with linens, lots of dark wood, and even small "cabins" that seat four in relative privacy. The wait staff is attentive without being intrusive.

Tiger prawns and scallop dish
Scallops, although tender, were lacking in taste. No char, nada. Just there. oh well
