A large group of us enjoyed several well spiced Indian favorites, some with a modern twist. Staff was warm, welcoming and accommodating..we will be back

A Special Experience
I noted from earlier reviews that service was called out as a highlight and Spice Symphony didn't fail to exceed expectations. I brought 10 people and put ourselves in the hands of our host to serve what they will. What transpired was a feast of delicious varieties from the regions of India. I've eaten in the cities of Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai; many of the dishes really brought me back. Some interesting Chinese influenced offerings as well. But what really stood out was the personal service offered throughout the meal. The staff bothered to learn our names, the chef came out to visit and mostly if felt like we were part of the family. I will definitely be back.

Food was really good overall.
Food was really good overall. The only thing that was weak was the salad we had. It would have been great except the avocado was not at all ripe. Other than that is was really spot on. They even apologized for the service being off as they were short staffed due it being Easter. Funny thing is the service was pretty good, perhaps my standards are just lower since I live in Brooklyn.

Spice Symphony was a hidden
Spice Symphony was a hidden gem that had tasty food (especially the mango chutney), nice atmosphere, friendly staff and all for a very reasonable price. Additionally, they were able to accommmodate for each and every request we made. This is my first review of a restaurant, but felt it was so good I had to take the time to give them a review. We only had 3 or 4 appetizers and two main dishes, but they were great! I liked the chana Masal and Dal! Enjoy.

Best Indian Food We Have Had in NY
In our 30+ years in the San Jose area, we have cultivated our favorite Indian restaurants, most recently Amber for meals and Chaat Paradise for street food. But in our time in New York over the past 4 years, we have not found Indian food in New York to match it.
Until now. The preparation of the food here is excellent. The biryani dishes rival the best of those we have had. The chicken tikka masala was well spiced and superior to other similar dishes we have had. The onion kulcha was well stuffed with onion and flavorful. We wish that the samosas--while well prepared--were a little larger and were served with tamarind sauce. Top it off with some Kingfishers and it was a great meal. We will be back.

Wonderful service, tasty food
I came here with a group of 13 people, and we ate family-style - ordering a bunch of dishes. The indian dishes were very tasty, particularly the saag and the lamb biriyani. The servers were attentive and accommodating. Also, the small complimentary amuse bouche was a nice touch. Overall, a wonderful experience.

We went to Spice Symphony for my birthday and it is by far the best Indian restaurant I've been to in NYC! Food is really good, and staff is really friendly

The service was really fast,
The service was really fast, very friendly and welcoming. We ordered chicken tikka masala, and it was delicious. The night I went to this restaurant for dinner, a famous chef from the TV show Chopped was cooking. It was really exciting to taste his spice symphony, since I always watch that show! I will definitely come back..
5/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
It was an early quiet night on memorial day weekend and the "Chopped"-winning chef had taken the weekend off but whoever was in the kitchen was on top of his game because the food was great. Lamb Chops to start followed by Chicken Tikka Masala and Shrimp Moiley with Alle Belle for dessert. Everything was great. We look forward to going back soon.

Fun and flavorful meal!
Came here for my husband's birthday, and the team couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They even baked a special chocolate cake on request! We were a party of eight and had a very fun time. Being British, we have high standards for our curries, and the food was very tasty!

Great lunch deal
Inexpensive lunch menu with several good choices. Samosas were delicious, as were the paag paneer and the briani (sp?) dishes we had. The lamb was not quite fork-cuttable, as I have experienced in other Indian restaurants, but was quite good nonetheless. Extensive selection of wine by the glass, which was nice, and most were a reasonable $7-$8 per glass.
6/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
We really enjoyed the food at this small restaurant. The shrimp in garlic sauce was excellent, as was the vegetable korma and garlic naan. Service was a little spotty, but friendly. We would definitely recommend for the food experience.

From the wonderful service to the incredibly delicious food, everything about this restaurant exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be coming back!!

Great little Indian find!
We came here the other day for Father's day, and we were all very pleased! The food was excellent. In fact, I was in India this past February, and I would say the food at Spice Symphony stacked right up with what I had in India. The flavors and spices were all perfect, and all the food was finished completely.
On top of the great food, service was friendly and attentive. They even allowed me to use my 10% off the bill for checking in on Yelp, even though it was Father's Day. My only knock against the place, albeit a very small one, is that the space was a bit on the small side. Hopefully, with more success, they will expand and open up bigger locations with better ambiance.

I went to Spice Symphony with two girlfriends/colleagues, for the first time. they seated us right away, the restaurant was pretty empty (6p). It took us a little while to order, they brought out a complimentary "appetizer" which was a great gesture. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb curry, Fish Curry and garlic Nan, we had to order another garlic nan because it was SO good! the food took a little longer than i had expected to come out but it was delicious, the plates we used were even "heated" so i thought that was a great touch! Great experience!

The food was very good.
The food was very good.
The service was disoriented.
It was lunch time. I had to wait for the first course for over 15 mins, then another 15 mins for the other course. The waiter started explaining to me that everybody came all at once. The restaurant was filled only to one third...
However, the food was really good.

Excellent Food! Excellent Service!
I loved this restaurant. The food was delicious. The staff was prompt and polite. The owners were there and genuinely interested in feedback. I think it's a new place and I'll definitely be going back again and again.

Don't Miss this One -Outstanding!!!
It was our first time to this restaurant and we absolutely loved it. Our waiter Samir was simply fantastic. We loved whatever he recommended. The food came out perfect.. Am definitely keeping their catering service in mind for our party occasions. Would love our family and friends to experience our new find. Just one word of caution, the place is quite small, so I suggest making reservations to avoid the wait. Bottom Line- Awesome food and fantastic service. We will definitely be going there again and again.... We are hooked on it!!

Great Indian food and value
We try nearly all of the new Indian restaurants that receive even modestly good reviews. There are few, however, to which we return.
Everything we ordered was excellent- exceptional flavoring and fresh ingredients. The owner and staff could not have been more welcoming and indeed generous. When one of the dishes we ordered could not be prepared, he immediately gave us a substitute.
The servings were so plentiful that we were able to enjoy the meal a second day. There is no Indian restaurant with which we are familiar that serves better food for this price. The lamb chops are indeed better than in two of our favorite far pricier Indian restaurants. We highly recommend Spice Symphony!
7/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of the best
Everything was exceptional! This is Indian cuisine at its best with the highest levels of attention to detail, subtle nuances of flavoring and care.
We were six, ordered up a storm and the restaurant was kind enough to send out extra items on the house, just for us to try. Every dish had a memorable personality and character. I particularly loved the murgh chettinad, stuffed eggplant in coconut sauce and okra with roasted spices.
It's one of the finest Indian restaurants in the city without doubt. Also offers Chinese Indian cuisine that's something different. I cannot recommend Spice Symphony more highly for food, service, going away more than satisfied and wanting quickly to come back. Just don't tell too many people about it...

Smaller portions. Lunch menu
Smaller portions. Lunch menu had good variety and the staff was pleasant. Will visit again.

Great Indian Fusion!
Really great Indian/Chinese fusion... We had samosas, tandoori chicken (fabulous), chicken tikka masala, general tso's chicken, and dal tarka. All were really, really good. Service was very attentive without being over the top. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in NY.
7/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good...but expected a bit more
Having watched Chef D'Rozario on the Food Network, we were very excited to go to Spice Symphony. Overall, we weren't disappointed, but we expected a bit more of an 'event'. The restaurant itself is quite small and understated. Our waiter was quite happy to make dish recommendations, and we followed his lead. Overall, the vegetarian dishes (including a fried eggplant amuse bouche) were outstanding. The green chilly shrimp was good, but we would have enjoyed it more if the shells had been removed. The pepper chicken was our least favorite--the spices overwhelmed the dish. We would definitely go back again, but next time we're going to focus on the vegetarian and vegan options.
7/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
The best of two worlds
The combining of Indian and Chinese recipes yields a delicious result. Lamb with chilies was spicy and replete with fresh vegetables. Paratha was the best I've had. Lettuce wraps were extremely fresh.

delicious but disorganized
if you can get over the disorganized (but well meaning) service you'll find delicious, well spiced food

Fantastic Foodie Find!
This place has remarkable food! Every dish was delicious and the service was friendly, professional. They went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience -- from a culinary and service perspective. They just need a bigger space to accommodate the crowds that are gathering at the front door!
8/15/2013 5:00:00 PM
Our server made superb recommendations not only about the dishes to select, but also the portion-size and numbers of dishes to order
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food and service were top notch - best in the area. We will be back soon with friends!

Great as others have noted
We were a party of 8 and whikle service was a bit slow to start, our waiter did a great job recommending dishes and heklping us with orders for the table.
Place is small and noise level is a bit high but food was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and quality of food was superb.

Delicious Indian/Chinese food
Just when you have tried all types of Indian food, you come across Spice Symphony, which melds traditional Indian foods against the backdrop of Chinese spices and preparations. Some work better than others, but the overall experience is delicious. The appetizers work particularly well and I would suggest trying as many of them as possible. Service is very helpful without hovering. A great find in an area of more traditional Indian restaurants.

Ambitious and Pretty Yummy
Spice Symphony's menu offers a fusion of Indian and Chinese, in a nice setting with an eager staff that really cares about the food - and wants you to have a great meal. The wine lists offers numerous half bottles, a nice option.
Dinner starts with an amuse bouche, letting you know the kitchen is serious about what comes next. Lots of great and inventive options from the Indian and Chinese sides of the menu. Almost everything is good. For dessert, the rice pudding was a standout.

Service was excellent and
Service was excellent and fast; the chef and servers were friendly and helpful. The amuse bouche was a nice way to begin the meal. Found the place through the NYT and glad we tried it. My 9 year old son loved the food and wants to return.

Nice place to eat
We were looking for a nice Indian restaurant and this one was nearby and open late. Glad we took the chance. The menu had a good selection of various Indian cooking styles as well as Chinese The food was very good and flavorful with ample portion sizes. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend Spice Symphony and would dine here again.

What a great find!
Spice Symphony made me a hero! I was put in charge of finding the restaurant for a group of 6 foodies. I took to my iPad and did some research, then found an opening at Spice at the perfect time on a Friday night! From beginning to end it was a stellar experience . Our table was waiting for us, cocktails came swiftly, followed by a complimentary amuse bouche. Our server helped us order an array of appetizers to share and we were drooling over each of them, shrimp, mushrooms, chicken lollipops, etc.. We also shared entrees. Everything we tried was so yummy. I was getting high fives all around. The spices were perfect. You must try the pistachio and cheese dessert. Wow! Definitely our best meal in the city..we were here for 5 nights.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
It would be easy to miss this little restaurant, however missing it would be a mistake. The food was excellent. I would especially recommend the salt and pepper shrimp. Loved the intimate size and enjoyed every morsel.

3 1/2 Stars
Well since you can't officially give 1/2 stars, I put it in
I was a bit hesitant and wasn't sure if my entire party would enjoy it. So it was a party of 7 women, some love Indian food and some have never had it before. To my surprise By the end of the night everyone was thoroughly pleased w/ their food.
The not so great side of Symphony: customer service sucked lemons! Our waiter was completely overwhelmed w/ our party of 7. It became so annoying, the manager stepped in to assist. We were not demanding.... Fill a water glass and get the orders right... Isn't that the basic service creed of waiters??
Ps: the bartender is not that great
If it wasn't for the final two issues, this would have been a solid 5 stars.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
I needed to find a place to catch up with girlfriends on a lunch hour and one that wouldn't break our pockets but has good food.
Great variety, delicious food and perfect portions! This was perfect...and I plan to go back again & again.

This is a must-do if you love Indian food. It's simply the best we have ever had. We will return on next visit to NYC.

Best Indian I have had in NYC
Spice Symphony is a true gem! The staff were all super friendly and attentive, and made everyone at the table feel very welcome in the restaurant. The food was unpretentious and full of nuanced flavors. It was by far the freshest and best tasting Indian food I have tried in the NYC area. I will definitely be back!!!

Flavorful and Varied!
This was a great evening at Spice Symphony. The menu has something for everyone. The menu had such a great mix that everyone's palate was satisfied. As a party of 12, I am pretty certain we ordered a meal from every part of the menu. My wife had the Salt & Pepper Prawns, they were some of the best she has ever had. We had a number of dishes off the Vegetarian section. These were incredibly flavorful, but not too rich. The Pepper Chicken was really incredible. It started with really strong flavors of roasted black pepper, but then the combination of fennel and coconut really played with your tastebuds. Great great meal. Our party of 12 made up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the total clientele during the visit.
