Great Service and really good food.
Very down home, quiet and dark atmosphere. Service was impeccable. Appetizers were fantastic and entrees were good, but not great. Nice and quiet. Game room and lounge area available for all after you eat made for a fun after experience.

Excellent food and service!
Excellent food and service! The night was perfect and we are excited to return! The server was very personable and professional. He seemed to take pride in the restaurant as if it was his own.

Amazingly good food. The fish dishes are especially good. Cooked to perfection and beautifully prepared. Staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating . First rate. Not to be missed!

The parking was great, the place had a luxurious feel, food was delicious, service was great, would definitely go back there again. it's a special occasion kind of restaurant. the only questionable thing was that our waitress told us that there was no French onion soup left, but then they delivered French onion soup to a couple of the other tables. that's about it; all in all I would say a good place to go.

We had never visited Cellar 49 before but chose it out of the blue for Mothersday Brunch . What a nice surprize! The menu had wonderful choices, food was excellent (great steak!) and the wine pairings were perfect. We will be back!

What a nice place
My wife and I went to Cellar 49 for dinner and I have to tell you the food was outstanding. We were in the cellar so there was no scenic view and since we were the only people in the main dining room, it was very quiet. We both thought that since the dinner was so outstanding, we we'd try the desserts. If you like cheesecake on a lollypop stick or like graham crack gelato then you would like the desserts. It is funny but in Boston, we have New York Cheesecake on a lot menus and I think Cellar 49 would do well to do the same. Long story short, stick with the meal and skip desserts.

An absolute gem
I've been to the Cellar several times and each time my expectations were exceeded. The hostess Michelle is an absolute doll, and our server Kelli was extremely friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and had wonderful suggestions. My ultimate goal is to try everything on the menu, so I can't wait for my next visit! The bartender, Christian makes a mean martini, I suggest you sit at the stunning bar before dinner. The manager, Christina is absolutely delightful and made sure our experience was perfect. Cellar 49 has very quickly become my favorite restaurant. A++++++

Terrific all around.
Cellar 49 was wonderful from beginning to end. I'd eaten there before with my sisters and everything was so good I took three friends this time. Nahun was behind the bar and was very attentive to everyone. Nora showed us to our table and she was warm and delightful. Our server Paul treated us like we were the only diners in the restaurant. Once again, deciding on what to order was difficult as everything on the menu looked delicious. I had the rib steak, which was perfectly done as was everything else at our table. We shared appetizers and desserts and couldn't decide which were the best ones. I heartily recommend everyone try this place - it's all around terrrific!!! I wish I lived closer!

An incredible find
Recently, I found out that Cellar 49 was open to the public. My understanding is that there was a prior arrangement whereby the use was restricted to those lodging or attending conferences at the scenic Tarrytown House Estate. The menu shows a great diversity for the palette, the service was excellent and the ambiance was incredible. I maybe selfish and not want to spread the news that this is a great find off a well beaten track.

Unique Setting... Great food!
The setting is literally within a wine cellar. The presentation was clean, neat, and unique. There are no windows, but that's ok - the ambiance has exceptional character. The food was very well presented and was quite tasty. Excellent wine selection, and very tasty main courses.
The major drawback, was the use of 'low-light' in the Cellar. The location lacks windows, and natural light, so one would appreciate more light, incandescent, no, but perhaps candle/candelabra's would be well placed... it simply was hard on the eyes at times.

I dined at cellar49 recently
I dined at cellar49 recently for a special occasion and my date and I were very impressed. Jen was our waitress and was very sweet, the food was great and cooked to our specifications (Gluten free and dairy free) the chef was very accommodating and so was the staff. The hostess stopped by at our table and made conversation with us. the busboy whose name I believe was oelmi was very pleasant and we did not feel rushed at all considering the fact that we sat for almost 2 and a half hours. I would definitely return, and recommend to my friends.

Excellent hidden gem
Located within the grounds of the Tarrytown House Estate, there is a separate doorway that leads to the delightful Cellar 49. It really is underground, but the grounds that lead to it are gorgeous and offer an inkling of the great food and ambiance you will experience. The scallops I had were wonderfully prepared as was the entire meal. Dress casually if you like, relax and truly enjoy the professional wait staff, the photos of the area on the walls and the fact that the restaurant is within a former mansion and used to contain a one lane bowling alley for its rich occupant. Looking forward to future delightful evenings on the premises.

I attended Cellar 49's first ever Jazz Brunch and it was such a wonderful experience, I hope they do it again. The food was phenomenal, as usual and the servers, Paul and Jennifer were attentive and knowledgeable of the new menu. The jazz music was perfect for the restaurant, Chris Conti is a spectacular musician. After brunch was over, my sisters and I had a drink at the bar and Nahun, the bartender could not have been nicer. Can't wait to go back!

Cellar 49 was very good. The menu is limited and some of the choices not mainstream but what they do, they do well. We had branzino (Mediterranean Sea Bass) which was the most delicious we have ever had---beautifully prepared. I just wish the portions were larger, they were very modest. The salad was generous, however, and there were adequate breads. The environment is nice, and there is an adjoining gameroom with a pool table and table shuffleboard. The building it resides in is historic, and the paintings and environment in general is very appealing. I would certainly go back.

Went for late night meal. Had the beet salad that was beautifully presented and tasty. The had the salmon, but instead of rissotto, got snap peas. Salmon a bit more done than what I asked for but was still delicious, as were the accompanying peas and mushrooms. Attentive service and nice wine by the glass options.

I have lived in this area my entire life and was unaware such a gem existed.Looking forward to going back for dinner sometime soon.

A wonderful lunch on a Sunday
A wonderful lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Delicious food, great service, wonderful wine. And the desserts are worth a trip.
While it wasn't busy we were able to linger and enjoy ourselves.
