Great food, great service!
My partner and I went to Pasture to celebrate his birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was excellent! The house pickle dish and the pot belly special were to die for! My partner's sirloin steak was perfectly cooked to order, and my pork chop was juicy and flavorful. The waitstaff was very professional, friendly and attentive as well. All in all, a wonderful experience.

I never write a review.
I really never write reviews--of anything. BUT this was the best meal I have eaten since moving to Richmond in January. And I have eaten many wonderful meals at local restaurants. This was unbelievable--interesting, fresh, beautifully served, incredibly delicious.

Food was good could use more decorations around trying to be country feeling but very bare minimalist dinning area awesome beer list not all food items that were on the Internet menu were actually on the menu including what I really wanted the low country boil :( but the Mahi that I had was delicious

Really enjoyed the large sized
Really enjoyed the large sized "small plates." Each was a treat I could have had as a meal! Wonderful!

Dropped in here for dinner when the family was driving through. Being from out of town, didn't really have a lot of knowledge of the Richmond food scene, but saw this recommended and it was a good choice. Lots of interesting food items, good beer list. Plenty to keep everyone happy - basic burger all the way to steak tartare.

Love the Small Plates
Love going here and enjoying their variety of small plates. Great vibe!

Pasture is great! The servers
Pasture is great! The servers are genuinely friendly and really know the menu, and the food was fantastic! We had a group of 10 for a business dinner and Pasture ended up being the perfect choice. For those in our party from Richmond they definitely stated they would be back.

Pasture has great food, service and ambience...it is everything you're looking for in a restaurant. Everything they do screams that they really care about their customers, this place has heart! We went for my wife's birthday and brought along our 2 kids (3 & 5) and my wife's parents; the menu has a great mix of appetizers, small plate selections and entrees...so you can go out on your own or do the sharing thing. Extensive local beer list and nice size wine selection. Highly, highly recommend.

Surprise treat in Richmond
Read the reviews and found them to be 100% accurate. Food was outstanding and the service very good at Pasture. I enjoyed the arugula, asparagus & pecan salad ( poppyseed dressing) and the flavorful seafood stew . My husband opted for the creamy tomato rice and the salmon, both small plates that he said he would order again. We both had dessert- Boston cream pie for me and crime brûlée cheesecake for him. The rather bare restaurant fits with a farm to table theme, and as the tables filled, we noted that others agree with us!

Great dinner with friends
I originally visited Pasture for a work related dinner months ago. Since then I have been back with friends before a show and dessert with the hubby for our anniversary. We brought friends for our monthly dinner out and they loved it too! Food is fresh (they boast supporting local farms and vendors) and very well prepared. I will certainly come back again.

My wife an I went for our fourth wedding anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased. Legend Hopfest on tap, hooray! We started with the pickles and the okra; the okra was perfectly breaded and seasoned, the pickles were an unexpected treat, the beets in particular as they had an anise flavor to them. I'm not normally a fan of the taste of licorice but they really worked. We had been before but always ordered small plates (and were happy with them) but went for entrees this time. Mine was the chicken and rice with green beans (which sounds plain but was not, the tomato/curry gravy was fantastic) and she went with the pork chop entrée. I can't speak for her, she wouldn't share. We will return, and as often as possible.

Always a pleasant experience
This is the 3rd time my partner and I visiting Pasture and we are continued to be impressed by the pleasant experience we have there. Delicious food and excellent service, Pasture is fast becoming our favorite restaurant.

Chose Pasture for celebration. Great food! Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, made spot on wine pairing.
7/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a great meal this weekend. We loved the atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and our waitress was quite knowledgeable.
The food was excellent. I loved the homemade meatballs in posole broth. The pimento cheese was ridiculous!

Richmond has more than its fair share of southern-cuisine restaurants, but Pasture stands out among them all. Two-thirds of the menu is dedicated to "southern tapas". The food is fun, unique, and fairly priced. The simple, understated decor seems to fit with the laid back, unpretentious food and service. I recommend trying as many of the snacks and small plates as possible. This part of the menu is really where the character of the restaurant is found, although the entrees were great.

We've been to Pasture many times and it is always great. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food is fresh and inventive as is the cocktail list. The owners make sure to say hello if they are in. They always make us feel like welcome guests at a very cool party.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
I'm sorry it took me a year to eat at this place - it was so delicious. Loved the combination of foods, and the lightness of them while still feeling completely satisfied with me meal. Wait staff was friendly and helpful! Will be back soon!
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Solid every time!
We had another excellent meal at Pasture. The menu had some new items on it that we were excited to try. The Veggie noodles were outstanding! As always, service was snappy, the drinks were great, and the food was unique and delicious. Thanks Pasture for another great night.

New favorite place
We had such a great time at this place! The service was friendly, in fact everyone was friendly. One of the owners came by and said hello and chatted briefly. She was lovely. Food was great. The seafood stew smelled so good walking by that we ordered one and we loved it. Everything was tasty and the place was hopping. All in all a great night at a great place.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
The staff makes this open, bright and energetic spot truly memorable. The food was fresh and interesting. Rice grits and steak tartare were spectacular and the candy bar for dessert was worth the calories!

Pasture is one of my favorite dining spots in Richmond, but its not without its issues. For starters, there are few places that you can find such a varied menu where everything is spot-on fantastic. However, after being here several times, I definitely would say to not expect the fastest service. My fiance and I ordered several small plates and an entree to split, and it took us nearly two hours to have dinner. Our waitress was excellent, but very slow. It would have been one thing if we were having drinks or if we were with a group, but for just the two of us, it was slow. The ambiance in Pasture is very nice, but it feels hollow - the high ceilings and the large amount of white paint everywhere makes the place seem almost too open.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our group truly enjoyed our first dining experience at Pasture. The seared fish with bread salad, the fish stew, and noodles were all excellent. The lemon buttermilk pie was sweet, but not too sweet, and absolutely delicious. Try the fried okra as an appetizer, I'm a southern girl who has eaten a lot of fried okra, and Pasture's did not disappoint. Pasture also offers a nice selection of cocktails and beer. Lastly, we couldn't have asked for better service! We will definitely be back!
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
First time visit
We had heard the name Pasture for many months, and we finally made it there. Loved the minimalist decor. The unsung hero on the menu was the bread and spreads! We'll return.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderfuld southern food
We loved the fried okra, specials for the day (mushroom soup and ahi tuna), and seafood stew. Our server was lovely and helpful. Our only disappointment was the dessert: Boston Cream something.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fun casual friend/coworker dinner at Pasture. Waitress was excellent - she knew the menu and patiently explained it to friends who weren't familiar with some of the offerings. Arugula salad was amazing!! Fritos chili pie was fun and filling. Friend had the hamburger and thought it was really good. Couldn't resist dessert - Boston Cream pie in a Mason jar and lemon buttermilk pie! Will be back-I saw many other items I want to try!
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good great grand wonderful
Could not have been more pleasant, the food is ridiculously good. I highly recommend the pimento cheese as an appetizer. Also the cocktails are incredible!

Pasture is a great place to graze
Had lunch here for the first time. The Pasture salad was very good, the iced tea not bitter, the pimento cheese pretty good (I like it a bit more spicy -- personal preference only.) All in all, I enjoyed myself.
We arrived right at noon and were seated immediately. By 12:30, the place was packed. I'd recommend reserving a table in advance.
9/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Just plain good. From the exotic cocktail menu, great bar-tending by Beth and just a perfect local sourced menu! Will go again and again.

We were visiting Richmond to hit a architectural salvage yard, and found Pasture because it was close to the hotel. The food was surprisingly wonderful (you never know when you are out-of-town). Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We had the pimento cheese, pork rinds and guacamole (the level of heat was spot-on, not too mild like we usually find guac), the cheeseburger and the highlight of the night--the pork chop. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and my husband likened it to eating filet. Now we find ourselves figuring out how to get back to Richmond, just to go to Pasture.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was great, our server
The food was great, our server was lovely. They carry a wide selection of local beers but no VA wines which surprised us for a farm to table restaurant. We would definitely recommend Pasture to friends.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very creative menu. Cobra was excellent. Good wine and beer selection. Great location near the theater.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Continues to impress
Our third visit, and it keeps getting better! Nothing too adventurous about the ingredients, but delightful recipes and nice presentation. Meats, seafood, vegetables, desserts all great! Dinners and small plates are equally enjoyable. Nice wine list as well.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Hip and down to earth!
We love Pasture. The service and food are both fantastic... You definitely won't find a stuffy attitude at pasture that sometimes comes along with trendy establishments. Pasture is on point from the ambiance to the service to the creative menu! And you don't have to spend a fortune to get a great meal. Highly recommended!!
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
I have heard a lot of great things about Pasture. My wife and I both had the sirloin, and it is hands down the best in Richmond! We will definitely be back again. I can't wait to try something new, but I think it will be hard to not order the sirloin again. Great selection of beer and wine, and the whole menu was very enticing. I may have drooled on the menu while reading over all of the choices.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Superb Small Plates
Joining an RVA trend toward craft cafés focused on fresh ingredients from local farms, Pasture's staff gave us a lovely evening with diverse small plates, including mushroom crouquettes, smoked salmon, pork meatballs, and more. We'll definitely return.
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food. Unobtrusive, quick service. Small but excellent drink list. Not one complaint in a group of 4
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
A fine little neighborhood rest.
The food was great and our waitress was very knowable of the menu and very pleasant. Have already recommend this fine restaurant to several friends

Farm to Table
Very creative choices on the menu . We enjoyed a tasty salad (enough for 2 ) with gorgonzola & delicious vinaigrette dressing. One of us had to try a house specialty---(Vegan) Chili with Fritos. Although not a vegan myself, I enjoyed & could barely finish the generous serving . This is the place to go for rare beef. The meat was tender, flavorful, like butter. Too full for dessert, will make sure to save room next time we are "put out to Pasture". As for ambience, the lighting was not very pleasant, the chairs and tables a little too rustic. Overall, top rating for food, middle-of-the road for ambience. Definitely go!

First time at Pasture was good
Went pre Symphony
Open space but I’ll bet can get noisy.
Nice Wait Staff. Menu and Wine List had good selections and reasonable prices. We like the small plate concept.
The fried okra was excellent and a generous portion. The Chick Pea Falafel was flavorful with a nice yogurt sauce but not to my taste.
My Steak was perfectly done with an excellent blue cheese sauce. I thought stacking the French fries like firewood was trying too hard to be “whimsical” and the fries themselves were not that good. Next time I'll have the fries I saw with the burger.
My wife had the Arugula salad which was excellent but could have used some cranberrys for color.
All in all good food and a nice place. I would give it a 4 and do plan on coming back
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I went out with another couple and really enjoyed our dinner. Everything was delicious and fresh. The okra was awesome (so good we ordered another one!) and the steak tartare was very good. My husband had the seafood stew and really enjoyed it.

This was my second time at
This was my second time at Pasture, and the food was just as good the second time. I will make it a point to visit this place next time I'm in Richmond.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
…I really wish they would get rid of their strange group tables. Our group was seated at the same large table as another group. Yes, there was a seat on each side of the table separating the two groups, but it is hard to feel like there is any privacy or anything special about a meal out when it is shared at what is essentially a communal table with strangers. The communal table thing isn't quaint or trendy, it's just plain weird and awkward.

Good Food, Good Service
I had one of the signature cocktails, the Deltaville. It was delicious. They have a pretty good selection of wine. The salmon over the bread salad was very, very good. My friend had a sweet potato and white potato soup that is worth mentioning, yummy.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Just well done
This was my first time at Pasture. It wasn't what I expected, but I was in no way disapointed. The food was prepared exactly as I asked. The beer was great! The staff was very pleasant. I would recommend Pasture for date night or just getting together with coworkers for a pint after work.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Always a fun meal
We love having Pasture as an option in Richmond. We have gone for dates, large birthday dinners or "just because" and every time the food has been wonderful. Some of the pairings are unexpected but delicious. The servers aren't always super friendly but the food makes up for anything they are lacking.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
I love great food in fun spaces and this totally fits this bill. A lot of places are good to eat, but they might be a little stuffy. Or it's a great space and the food is overhyped. Pasture just delivered, for me, on all fronts. The space is modern/downtown meets country in a restful, streamlined manner. The wait staff was genuinely warm and engaging. The food combined high quality ingredients with low country comfort. It's a place that makes me proud of the south. I want to show it off to people who come to town. I hope Pasture is around for a long time, b/c it's already gained a spot in my heart. And I think it's one of those places that makes Richmond such a special town to live in. Make sure to order the pimiento cheese and crackers!
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food and drinks
Met a friend here for dinner and it was a great place to order a few plates and share everything! Waiter was nice, food was pretty quick and restaurant was overall very pleasant! Looking forward to going back and getting mor fried okra!!!

Consistently very good
We have had dinner before the Opera 3 ties and each experienve has been very good
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
The beer list was great! Something for everyone. The fried okra was a hit all around. The seafood stew was beautiful and full of flavor. Great coffee and desserts! Only negative was the uncomfortable seating.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food was excellent. My steak was perfect and my sister loved her seafood stew.
