I had read a few reviews beforehand about this burger and was very excited to try it! I was kinda hesitant to keep all the toppings on there, because I am not a huge fan of slaw. I will say this...
DO NOT REMOVE ANY OF THE TOPPINGS!!! The blend of flavors really make this burger tip-top.
The staff is quite attentive and friendly. Angie was a darling! Prices were reasonable for the quality and variety.
I believe every week they have a special menu in addition to their regular; this week was Mediterranean Week!
Definitely check this place out!

Sweet & Spicy!
The food at the Explorer's Club is nothing short of amazing! The food we ordered had spicy, as well as sweet elements that offset the heat from the spices. Every bit of food was chock full of flavor and the PRICES WERE AMAZING! We were originally going to go for one of the pricier options (Worthington Inn, Eddie Merlots, etc.) but VERY glad we didn't. The price is too good to be true for the quality AND quantity of food provided to you at the Explorer's Club and it's much more unique than anything you could get at the other places. We will definitely be coming back again soon!

Great for Mother's Day!
We were able to make a reservation morning of for the holiday. They had a special brunch menu with delicious options. The flavors are well balanced and everything was amazing as always.

The food here was absolutely incredible. We go out to eat frequently and the food is usually good. This food was much more than that. All four of us had great food. The mac and cheese was the best I have ever had. Definitely a find!

Wonderful first experience
Our server was amazing, explaining all the ins and outs of what goes on at the Explorer's Club and the local neighborhood. Awesome experience. Amazing food. Definitely coming back soon!

The food was awesome! We went for dinner and among out party had a kabob, burger, sliders and mac & cheese sandwich. All were great! The drinks were good- Blueberry Mint Margarita! I would definately recommend this restaraunt to others, I'm ready to go back and try more myself!

Good variety, great Veggi Options
I liked that the restaurant features a different region each month in addition to the regular menu. The Vegan options were plentiful which was a plus for my wife. I tried her dish and I liked it more than the Chorizo sliders with fries as the fries were overly salty. The appetizers were delicious. We tried the chili relleno and the sweet potato. Both were well prepared. I would definitely try the restaurant again the next time I am in Columbus.

Second time at this great little spot just south of German Village. We loved the experience the first time and had to come back. I had their drink special, a locally grown strawberry old fashioned, that was very well made. The chile rilleno (deep fried cheese stuffed pepper) was amazing as well. I also had the entree special which was half of a roasted chicken on a bed of beans an ham. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the jalapeño glaze was just the right amount of spicey.
4 drinks, appetizer and two entrees and out the door for under $60, pretty amazing for this hidden gem--a must try!

Very Good Meal
We went to Explorers Club for the first time this past Saturday during the early dinner hours - we had bumped our reservation up to 6:15pm and it was still pretty quiet but business steadily picked up as we were dining. Being our first time there, with two kids (one of whom is a vegetarian), our server was fantastic - friendly, knowledgable about the menu, etc. We had one of the small plates off the (currently Mediterranean) rotating menu - socca cakes, the kids had grilled mac & cheese sandwiches and we tried both the pulled pork platter & explorers club sandwich... everything was very good but the things that shone and shouldn't be missed were: Socca Cakes, Jamaican Collard Greens & the Mac & Cheese, itself. We'll be back!
6/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first time to the Explorers Club - we've been wanting to go for a long time. This definitely won't be our last - outstanding food and service. Such unique dishes that we all loved.

A good find!
Not being from this neighborhood, we discovered this little gem through a review on Trip Advisor. It is in a location that allowed us to enjoy brunch before attending a play reading downtown while avoiding the traffic associated with the Columbus Arts Festival.
The service was slow, and we waited at least half an hour after ordering until our meal was delivered to our table. This was Sunday brunch and there was a crowd when we arrived but things soon thinned out, making us wonder why the long wait.
The food was yummy and well-prepared - not your standard restaurant fare - with some unique combinations. The dining room was quite noisy but there is a second room that is much quieter, perhaps available on request.

Great Interesting Menu
We tried Explorers Club for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised. We loved the varied menu and variety of items. The pulled pork and sauce was excellent along with everything else on the large plate. I can't believe I ate it all. We will be returning with friends and family.
6/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
So excited to find this restaurant. The food is delicious and so creative. The avocado and crab salad, the ceviche, and the tots were a huge hit at our table. The entrees even better than the starters. You will not be disappointed. Unless you have no taste buds. We definitely will be back to try the brunch.

Always a great meal
We have never had a bad experience at the Explorers Club. The food is always outstanding and the service is great. Love the menu variety.
6/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
13-year-old daughter: Overall, I had a great experience. We went on a Thursday night, and had to wait quite a while for our food, but once we got it, I can say that the wait was WELL worth it! I'm never ordering fries from McDonald's again! The menu itself was extremely diverse, offering everything from healthy, vegan recipes and quinoa patties to native Chilean dishes to a macaroni burger. I was especially pleased to note, as we left, that they have a garden outside, where they grow their own lettuce, garnishes, herbs, and a bunch of other things! I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a quaint little place to eat with a few friends. I'll definitely be heading back! (p.s. I recommend the Bistec de lo Pobre!)
6/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
A few of my coworkers had raved about the food here and I kept meaning to try it. I am so glad that I did. The food was hands down the best that I've had in Columbus. You can tell that the owners truly love what they do. My husband and I went on the Chilean menu night & had the brisket over fries as an appetizer. The brisket was so well seasoned & juicy. For dinner, we had the explorers club (duck pastrami), and the smoked pork wraps. Everthing was amazing!! We can hardly wait to return!
6/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great every time!
Enjoy the food every time we go. Great staff and selection of beer and wine.

Bringing the Newbies to "Explore"
We took our young friends for their first vist to The Explorers Club. Both of these "kids" are foodies so I wanted to find someplace fun that also had interesting fare. They were not disappointed. We had two small plates to start (Plantains & Fritters) both were well received. Gracie had the Tiramisu Pancakes which she loved and Chris chose the Benedict and ate every bite.
6/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food from various continents like Cuba, Mexico, Italy, Puerto Rico and China with specialty features from India and Hungary. I neighborhood spot with lots of character. A must for foodies to visit!
7/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
The excellent 3-course menu of Hungarian specialties served each month on the second Wednesday is both a great deal, and an authentic meal that my wife's grandmother (yes, Hungarian ) could have made. Great stuff.
7/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely little spot
Delicious, healthy food from a variety of cultures. Lots of vegan and gluten-free options, but you can also get sliders or roasted chicken if you want. Food tastes fresh - you can see the vegetables and herbs growing outside the front door. The steamed vegetables had a wonderful slight crispness - it felt like pride was taken in their preparation. My companion said she was still thinking about how delicious they were hours later. Waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Interesting "art from around the world" decor. Also no blaring music or TVs - loved that we could actually talk and enjoy each other's company.

Before theatre at Schiller Park
We made a reservation to have a light supper before heading to an Actor's Theatre Company performance at Schiller park. I was pleased that our food was prepared quickly (which did not happen on our last visit for brunch) and served promptly. The small plates were exactly what we needed. The smaller dining room was not crowded and we were able to have a pleasant conversation while waiting for our meal - something that is not easy to do in the larger, noisier dining room.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Ever since my first visit to The Explorer's Club I continually get a craving for the mac & cheese, jalapeno slaw and chili relleno. So now when I visit The Explorer's Club this is what I order and it's always perfect. Love it.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great new find in Columbus!
This restaurant is excellent and has a quality menu! I recommend any dish with mofongo in it! The Mofongo burrito was fantastic!
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were all very impressed
We were all very impressed with the Explorer's Club. They accommodated a large group, and
everything was perfect. Each meal was delicious!!! Service was great. All said, it is a great
restaurant, and I highly recommend it!!
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
I really liked it
We have been there on several occasions and have enjoyed it each time. Every dish has been prepared to our liking and the service has been friendly and attentive. We're looking forward to the next time and are considering joining the passport program. Ask about it. Only problem, for us is is so far away

You should Explore
FANTASTIC. I first discovered The Explorer's Club during last year's restaurant week and have been hooked ever since. With a wide range of vegan and vegetarian items along with a standard omnivore menu, it can and will please everyone! If you're open to trying new cuisines and you will not be disappointed here as their menu is constantly evolving. I recommend going for a deal on Wine Wednesdays. Great service, quirky atmosphere and unique, delicious food...the plantains are amazing and you would never guess how delicious vegan deserts can be.
One word - GO.

Restaurant Week Find
We were looking for a place to meet a friend we haven't see forever. We found Explorers Club on the Restaurant Week list and decided to try it. Because we were talking and catching up, we didn't realize it took FOREVER to get our food, but luckily we were not in a hurry and actually enjoyed the extra time to talk. Any other time and we would have been pretty annoyed. The menu descriptions sounded a little weird, but the food was DELISH! We'll definitely go back.
7/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a treat
Explorer's Club exceeded expectations for ambience and food. Very fresh, authentic, simple clean flavors. Eclectic atmosphere...very cozy.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have been to Explorer's Club three times now and have thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals. The most recent visit was for anniversary - we wanted something bordering between classy and causal - Explorer's Club fits the bill for me. The Chile Relleno is absolutely to die for.
8/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Love The Explorer's Club
I've eaten at The Explorer's Club several times and the food never disappoints! They always have interesting twists on dishes. This time they were offering a "Southern" style menu. My Mom and I got the black eyed pea cakes and bbq special. So delicious!
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Explorers club review
The small plates were fantastic and the surprise was the changing menu every month. This time it was the last day for the southern menu, and they were out if lobster, but my date was allergic to shellfish, so it was just fine. We tried the barbecue, which was to die for. The small plates were very flavorful. I most definitely will be back!
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good food on the special Argentina menu, though one of the items was sold out by our 8pm reservation. Service was excellent.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great place, great food
Went based on a friends recommendation, and it was great. I don't go to south High often, but I'll definitely be back. Everything we had was great. Really wanted to try the housemade duck pastrami, but they were all out. Next time! Service was friendly and knowledgeable, which was helpful in navigating the eclectic menu. Fresh ingredients and lots'of great options.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very god Cuban-inspired brunch
Very nice brunch with both Cuban-inspired and American breakfast items. Wie had fried plantains and Cuban French toast as appetizers..both very tasty. Two of us had breakfast burritos, two had American breakfasts. All were very tasty. Lunch/dinner menu equally tasty. Prices are very reasonable.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was the first time my husband and I dined at The Explorer's Club. We have heard the brunch is the best but we gave Saturday night dinner a shot. The location is a little rough (South of the German Village), so would feel more comfortable walking around this place in the day time. The cocktails were great and the plantain appetizer really hit the spot. We didn't order from the special menu but will keep an eye out for the changing menu each month. Enjoyed the veggie wrap and my husband had the rib tips with mac and cheese. Caught a couple bites of the mac n cheese and highly recommend this yummy comfort food! Overall, I would go here again for the fresh food and something different from the norm!
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Explorers Club is a bit out of the way in the southern reaches of Merion Village, but is well worth the trip.
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lots of interesting choices
Explorers Club gives diners a chance to try something new every month. Everyone at the table was pleased with their appetizers and dinner. The server was very attentive throughout dinner.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Love that they have a second
Love that they have a second menu that caters to other cultures. I tried Indian food for the first time and it was delicious. The chili relleno and the mac & cheese are to die for.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Bring your friends here
We had friends visiting from out of town, and we took them to one of our favorite restaurants, Explorers Club. Everyone loved it. We were there for Sunday brunch, and they have an innovative menu and some top-notch food. All in all, yet another great experience at Explorers Club.
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband & I went to the Explorer's Club for brunch on Sunday-our first visit. Loved it. Creative menu that goes beyond the traditional eggs, bacon and pancakes (although it includes those, too). I had fried eggs and home-cured bacon (yum!) over mac n cheese. It was a lot like a deconstructed pasta a la carbonara. Creamy, perfectly seasoned comfort food. My husband had the chilaquiles and ate every bite, even though the portion was large. The coffee was from Crimson Cup - very smooth. I want to try everything on the menu! The inside decor was pleasant, the ambience was nice, and we got terrific service. Very reasonable, too. They currently have a German menu in the evenings. Great place. We'll definitely be back!

Amazing Food & Impeccable Service
This is truly one of the best restaurants in Columbus. The food is quite simply amazing. The meats are cured in house and are beyond delicious. I love that there is a different themed menu each month. My husband and I have dined here a few times, and try something new each time. Our servers are always cheerful, knowledgeable, and prompt. I highly recommend reservations.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Amazing main menu and a separate special menu that changes monthly with a different theme. When we were it was German and was fantastic. My husband ordered from the main menu and he was thrilled with his meal. The restaurant is inside a restored old house and is very cool inside with original art on the walls. The server was great. She was very knowledgeable about the every aspect of the restaurant and the food. She was also very attentive. We have found our new favorite restaurant in the area.
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent food and service
Excellent food and service but very hard to hear and carry on a conversation. The place was very loud, had to ask waitress to repeat herself several times and could not talk to friends at the table due to the volume. I would never bring my Father here as he would not be able to carry on any conversation at all due to volume.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
We're from out of town, but have hit the Explorer's Club twice now: once for brunch, once for dinner. Both times the food was excellent! Love that they change the menu monthly to allow you experience a different culture. This visit, we fell in love with German fare. Though they have a standard menu that is seasonal and most excellent as well, the cultural switch will keep us coming back in the future!
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food...nice atmosphere
Interesting menu and everything our group of four ordered was very good. They were also willing to make some changes to accommodate some dietary needs. Looking forward to going back!
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Explorer's Club is my favorite place to go for any special occasion whether it's to have lunch or dinner with my husband or out with a group of friends or family. I recommend this place to all my friends and all that have gone love it. Great fun food and fabulous staff
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Worth the drive
Nice spot for brunch. Would have never made it to this part of town otherwise. The sweet plantains with yogurt salsa were excellent. The morning mac was decent, although I thought the inclusion of toast (starch plus starch) was a little redundant, and the egg on top didn't match quite as well as I'd hoped. Flavors were good though. The artwork on the walls is nice. Noise was high, but it's to be expected in an old house. Lots of families. Will come back sometime to try the monthly menu.
11/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
Enjoyable and Unique
We went to the Explorers Club for our anniversary. The service was wonderful and the food was good. The plantains appetizer was delicious, along with the Kentucky Bull drinks! We like to try smaller restaurants where we can get personal service and something different and this fit the bill!:)
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Completely enjoyable & interesting.
Wow, I loved this menu. It changes monthly, they do have standards that stay, and special nights for different ethnicities.
If you are looking for a place to try something delicious and challenging The Explorers Club is the first place to go.
