Great italian spot!
The food is delicious and it has a nice mellow vibe. This was our second trip but I think we may be coming more regular. The crudo ceviche is dang good! Highly recommend it!

Interesting menu, great combinations, beautifully executed, but tiny portions. Don't be fooled by the prices. That $18 pasta dish will not suffice as your only dish, not if you're hungry. That being said the food was so good I would definitely return. I'll just remember that I'm going to walk out of there spending a little more than I thought.

Wonderful energy, most fun
Wonderful energy, most fun staff, and terrific food - 3 of had pastas and one had the char and all were great. The charred octopus appetizer was really terrific as were the salads - we did not leave room for dessert, but they also looked special too. Will definitely return and recommend.

Great for a group
I arranged a large brunch here and the restaurant was very willing to work with my large party. Food and service was great. I would certainly come back again and definitely recommend for a larger group.

With a parking garage right next door, L'Apicio was a perfect spot. We enjoyed every morsel, from the terrific cheese platter, to the grilled endive salad, through to the Tuscan fries (yum!) that accompanied the steak -- everything was splendid. Waitpersons seem desperate to remove plates and silverware ("Are you finished with that?") before it was necessary, but everyone seems pleased, as well, to be of service. A great find in the Bowery: Wonderful in almost every way possible!

What a great find! Wonderful
What a great find! Wonderful ambiance, innovative mixed drinks, fabulous food, and professional service. We'll return again and again, even though we have to leave our neighborhood to do so.

We enjoyed a lovely brunch at L'Apico. The menu was varied but we both ate the same thing. The rosemary parmesan scone (?) we shared was quite delicious and plentiful. Then we both had the same egg dish. The watercress was fresh and spicy and there was more than sufficient ricotta and flavorings. The delicious bloody Mary certainly helped. The service staff was friendly and helpful. We had a delightful brunch.

This is a unique dining experience
This is a unique dining experience with many of the items not replicated at any other restuarant. Well worth a visit and if you go once, you will certainly want to go back again and again.

Great attention by staff and
Great attention by staff and manager. The food was unusually displayed and the flavor was incredible. From to roast chicken to the polenta and mushroom. A real treat!

A truly fine experience for
A truly fine experience for three somewhat jaded NYC diners. I had greatly looked forward for the polenta seved on a board, as my father insisted it be served recalling his youth in Italy. The flavor was very, very good: pork and mushroom.

A Fabulous Food Find
For a large, spacious restaurant, everything was beyond our expectations, even on our second visit. The food was remarkably good, interesting combinations, perfectly prepared. Our server was knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. Spacing of tables allowed for private conversation. The place felt like a favorite destination for many of the diners and we can certainly understand why. A+ from two often critical foodies.

I've been meaning to try LApicio ever since I saw magazine review with the top best restaurants of 2012.
I alteady had high expectations, but once I got there I was amazed. The location, the environment, the food, service...it was really great!
6/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
A hard group to please....
but we all agreed that this restaurant was a find--food was delicious and service excellent--table a bit small for 6 but did not pose a problem. We all enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.

Timing off but still good
Easy to get a brunch reservation. Quiet enough that you can speak with friends. Good food and nice environment. They do need to improve pacing of the meal. We ordered the pastry basket to start and some time to eat it would have been appreciated. Instead, our main courses came out immediately which ruined the pace of the meal and made the experience less leisurely. Also, busboys are in a huge hurry to remove plates - even half-finished ones - so beware. Overall, still a good experience as there was no wait and easy to get table.

A home run!
What a perfect evening! The service was professional, attentive and well informed. The restaurant was bustling yet when I looked up to get my server's attention the GM noticed and immediately helped me out. Very observant, especially on a crowded Friday evening.
Now about the food...well, scrumptious and sublime are two words that come to mind. The pasta and polenta dishes were refined yet chock full of flavor. I felt as if I were eating in a gem of a restaurant in Italy....the food was that delicious. The desserts were rich, dreamy and satisfying. I can't wait to return!

Six different entrees and
Six different entrees and all were very good boardering on excellent. Extensive wine list which gets pretty pricy but the $60 bottle was very good given its price point. The heart of the dinning experience however was a well trained staff who were friendly, knowlegable, very attentive and efficient.

I went here for a girls' night and had a fabulous time. The atmosphere struck the perfect tone of being upscale and current without too gimmicky or cloying. We were intrigued by the orange wine, and my whole group loved the food - the gnocchi being the stand-out.

Good food for Brunch but not great
So we stopped in here for brunch on a Sunday morning and it was a really good choice, a little pricey. The space and decor are really nice and the place is inviting, makes me want to just hang out and have some drinks at the bar. We were sat inside at a table and we ordered the Shrimp and Polenta, the Steak and Eggs along with the Bread Basket which came with a variety of bread, muffins, and coffee cake. Everything was well prepared and good, the breads and muffins were especially good. Even though I had no complaints about this place I don't know if we will be returning because I feel like we can get a similar brunch for about 1/2 the cost. It was very good and I think that we might return for dinner sometime in the future.

Second time there. Will be back again. Great food and service and no rushing you out.
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
I loved every dish that we tried! The pastas were exceptional and you could taste that they were made fresh! The cheese and accompaniments were stand out. I buy Truffle Tremor for my home but would never think to pair with peppercorns and the sweetened cantaloupe. Really made it stand out for me! The broccoli rabe was perfectly cooked and seasoned with chilies...not too spicy but the perfect kick! Really loved the atmosphere...everyone was enjoying themselves but not a rowdy loud crowd. Very comfortable surroundings but not unappropriately focused on decor...nice touches here and there and subtle warmth to the environment.

Gormet Italian food at fair prices for NYC. A nice wine list but the highlight of L'Apcio is the pastas and Polentas. We also loved the Hazel Nut and salted caramel ice cream sundae- a perfect way for a table of 4 to end the meal.

Hail to the lamb Meatballs.
In less than 10 days I came back to this restaurant to order Lamb meatballs, again.... such an amazing experience!
L'apicio features an extensive and complete wine list, despite the fact the fact it lacks Merlot options. In general, the ambiance is very good, service is outstanding and food is great.

Amazing as usual!
4th time here and loved it - the orecchiette with pancetta and corn is outstanding, and always love trying new apps. Had the grilled romaine and it was terrific! One of my favorite restaurants in the city.

Amazing Al Fresco Dinner!
I can't say enough about our experience at L'Apicio. Every member of the staff was welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable about everything from the wine and cocktail list to menu items. The menu wasn't crammed with options, but the chef assembled a sampling of the very best array of different tastes; from steak to fish to pastas. I would recommend the grilled endive and radicchio salad - absolutely hands down the best I've had - flavors were wonderful! Pastas were amazing - buccatini and the Bolognese. The steak was also. The dining outside is situated so you are not eating on the street, more in a private plaza, which made for a more intimate dining experience without street noise. I can't wait to go back - L'Apricio is now my top spot!!
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful dinner at L'Apicio.
Wonderful dinner at L'Apicio. The food-Bucatini, Gnocchi, Chicken and Bass-was delicious. Service was professional and friendly. Nice energetic crowd-restaurant was completely filled by the time we left. This experience was much better than my 1st one.

Another marvelous meal at L'Apicio
With the best of service, especially since we had a 3 year old with us this time, we enjoyed another remarkable meal at L'Apicio. The chef has designed dishes to be delicious as well as beautiful. We couldn't decide which main course or dessert was the best. This restaurant has become one of our favorites in the city.

I have now been L'Apicio three
I have now been L'Apicio three times in one month. The food is incredible. I have been dreaming about the shrimp bucatini. It is amazing. We also had the Charred Octopus, Purslane, Orecchiette, and Agnolotti. They were all exceptional.
They even give you their homemade ricotta to start - YUM!
The service is great as well. If you can, grab a seat at the bar if Candace is there. She makes awesome drinks and is really nice.
Looking forward to going back again sometime soon.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very tasty food
I had read a lot about L'Apicio before going and the food definitely lived up to the good reviews. I went for brunch and the food was delicious, good portions, and tasty cocktails. My only negative is that the place was very empty for a Saturday and so it didn't really feel like a brunch atmosphere.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
A Great find!
I went for brunch and fell in love with this place! The service was warm and not at all pretentious like a lot of places in the city for brunch, food was really, really good

Interesting room setup and decor, brave flavor combinations and presentation plus outstanding, thoughtful service invites me back without hesitation...wish we had places like this on the Upper East side...

Good and fun
We were excited when l'apicio arrived in the neighborhood, but for some reason only made it there once since they opened. Finally got back this weekend and it was better than i remembered (and it was quite good the first time). We started with the ricotta salata, a special cheese that came crackers. Quite good start. We shared the octopus app which was even better than I remember. For mains we shared the orrechiete, garganelli and polenta with meatball. Polenta and garganelli were great. The orrechiete was a little disappointing and cold. Also the time between the octopus and pastas was very long. Besides the wait between courses and cold orrechiete, the garganelli was a tad salty.

Food is some of the best Italian in the city. Already planning my next trip back. If this place were in my neighborhood (Tribeca), I'd eat there 3-4 times a week. Please come down here.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Stellar food and service
Had a wonderful here, the salads and appetizers were so thoughtfully assembled and perfectly seasoned, and the pastas are a must. The wines by the glass, such as the delicious chilled cab franc, were surprising but not too esoteric. Very excited to go back, and soon!
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
perfectly perfect in every way
from the moment you enter and are greeted warmly and sincerely by the staff, you know this is going to be a great night. the decor is lovely, food outstanding, from the meatballs in polenta to the superb shrimp bucatini to the perfectly cooked pork chop (one of the best we've ever had and there were 6 jaded nyers) to the divine arancini. truffle cake with mint gelato and watermelon gelato were outstanding. everything delicious, the service impeccable without being pandering. the staff is hardworking and simply put nice and thoughtful. i can't comment on the wine list because i couldn't make it past the delicious fun cocktail list. in the land of endless restaurants that will turn you into a nomad, L'Apicio is one to revisit again and again

I took my boyfriend here for
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had a wonderful meal. L'Apicio isn't the coziest, most romantic restaurant but we still had a lovely time. The wait staff was extremely attentive, the attention to detail in every part of the meal was surprising, and the food was exceptional. The pricing is fair, not cheap but not absurdly expensive either. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a special night, either with one person or with a group of friends.

Great food & ambiance!
Have been to this restaurant a few times now since it opened and I find the food consistently delicious & the wine knowledge and pairings equally as impressive. The restaurant ambiance is a definite draw and I feel like the tables are adequately spaced apart so you don't feel like you're right on top of other patrons and can actually have a conversation with the people you are dining with without screaming. I also enjoy sitting/dining at the bar as well. The service is great also.
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
....that's what stands out the most for me. Little touches like folding your napkin,,,,awesome! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. Everything was sort of spicy....so beware if you like or dislike spice.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service were great. Every item we ordered was made correctly and tasted fantastic. We will definitely be going back.

Lively at L'Apicio
Our group of four had a very nice time at L'Apicio. The food was very good, especially the pork meatball with polenta and the gnocchi with black trumpet mushrooms. The fluke crudo, however, was a very, very, very small portion for $14. We were there on a Friday night, and it was very crowded and noisy, which made conversation difficult, but not impossible.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Best meal at this price range
Had a fabulous meal here!
Polenta ravioli with short rib ragu, broccoli rabe side dish and the mint gelato that came with the chocolate truffle cake (which was also good) were the stars.
The Bronzino with sun chokes, citrus and olives was not quite what we expected (lots of radicchio and frissee, fried sun choke slices, not so much in the way of olives), but the bitterness of the radicchio and the tang of the citrus balanced well.
We were there on a Friday night and it did get quite loud. The tables were close enough that sometimes we could hear our neighbors conversations as well as our own, but that is the bargain you make for such great food at relatively reasonable prices!

Loved L'Apicio! Fantastic
Loved L'Apicio! Fantastic Italian from the cheeses to octopus to pastas and wine. Service was great too, and I love the decor/ambience. Will definitely go again - the bar/lounge area looks really cool too.
